      Its not the card that's the problem there, its the game programmers who don't bother to optimize games anymore. Programming USED to be about making the code as efficient as possible since there was limited ram and processing power. When you had kb's of ram in a pc and the processor doing a few thousand calculations a second then programs will run like garbage if the code is bad.
      Look at the Witcher 3, and Doom 2016 that were put onto the Switch. While perhaps not optimized perfectly, those games run fairly well on hardware that nobody would expect to work like that. Or even look at current mods or games released for retro systems. They are doing wonders with the limited hardware, pushing what you could expect out of those systems to their limits.

    I don't know why people keep saying it's win. To me it always feels so false with DLSS and frame generation. Essentially, you only get real render on the first true frame. The rest is just buffer. No matter how much fps you have, only the real rendered one actually show what's really happening in game as a result of your and games interaction. It's nice to have as option for low end devices, but I am only interested about the real performance.

    • @opticalsalt2306

      In older games like Farcry 3 we had “gpu buffered frames” which did the exact opposite of frame generation, it buffered frames ahead of time… god we are going backwards and half the people in the comments are happy to pay for it we are so f#%^3d as enthusiasts. People arguing about “input delay” and “frame times” when the games it wouldve truly mattered in… it doesn’t even matter in because they already run so good! It’s just like framegen, you’d only want to use it when your game runs bad but it’s useless with low fps. Instead of focusing on real tangible features they’re reeling in the lowest common denominator with more buzzwords about frame times and big fps numbers when these people don’t even understand what’s being explained to them…

    • @MontySlython
      @MontySlython 10 часов назад +5

      If that were the case AMD would have accomplished that ages ago, people are expecting performance that doesnt exist and isnt at all possible and when NVIDIA finds ways around it (even if they aren't great) they get hated on by enthusiasts, its possibly the dumbest market ive ever seen outside of the trading card collectors.

    • @ElderGamerX
      @ElderGamerX 10 часов назад

      @MontySlython I personally think the performance on my 7900 xtx without frame gen and upscaling is great. And if they made a 8900 xtx with 20% more performance, people would buy it if it was priced well enough. But the problem is they're more concerned with consoles than high end DIY GPUs, and it's more beneficial for them to focus on how to generate performance on a much smaller GPU to keep the system costs as low as possible.
      There's no reason for them to focus on a niche high-end now, because people accept AI card features. Which means they can produce cards that handle AI workloads, and sell them to a wider market outside of gamers. And because the gamers mostly are happy to buy them too, they have no reason to go another direction.

    • @MontySlython
      @MontySlython 10 часов назад +1

      @@ElderGamerX Thats not a satisfactory defense at all, in fact the fact that their tech and R&D focus entirely on keeping chips small and efficient should translate to way stronger GPUs than NVIDIA anyways (at least in the minds of the NVIDIA detractors), if they dont make them its not because they cant or arent focusing on it, its because they simply dont want to for whatever reason. People are mad at NVIDIA for presenting mostly AI stuff in their presentation even though thats where they make the big bucks and are acting as if NVIDIA making their GPUs the way they do is purely greed when they dont see that same mindset applies to AMD as well and focus all their hatred on NVIDIA.
      NVIDIA is much the same, they have no reason to make GPUs that are way stronger than the current ones if they have to be way bigger, they can wait until their R&D comes up with something new, in the meantime though they can fit more AI cores for better software improvements that translate to far better performance for single player games, which is absolutely needed considering how awful games have been with optimizations.

    • @ElderGamerX
      @ElderGamerX 8 часов назад

      @MontySlython I mean, I agree that there's market shifted towards AI, and now that all the GPU makers in town want to chase it, people don't have any choice. But the problem is that more AI features will never catch up with poorly optimized games. Devs are already accounting for upscaling and frame gen in game specs. Which just means they'll lean on the tech and do even less, rather than the tech getting people ahead.
      Personally, I wasn't that impressed with DLSS 3. I have a friend with a 4080 super hooked up to a 4k display, and I really didn't care for it. It felt floaty, and while sometimes it looked good, sometimes (especially when there was a lot of movement) it looked streaky and weird.
      I acknowledge that obviously this is the direction the tech is going. And there likely wouldn't be a market for too much longer on a pure rasterized card. But I do think it would have been fine for a couple more gens, and I also feel it's a bit early to make the shift to AI graphics. I'm guessing by the 70 series, it'll be indistinguishable from raw raster in 99.9% of cases. And I feel THAT is when the market should have shifted towards the adoption of the new tech.
      But hey, AMD taking the hit now to angle towards the future will end up being a short term loss, that will hopefully translate to survival in the 2030s. I just wish we could have had a 8900 xtx before they downgraded to RDNA 4, since it looks like they won't be competitive until UDNA anyway. Because as it stands, there's basically no reason for anyone who had a GPU above a 7700 xt to get a 9070 xt, unless they're holding back something nuts.
      AMDs "top end" card this gen will be a $499 card that is generally worse than a 5070 despite the 4gb extra Vram, because their software isn't as good. So in a year when people can get the card for $350 on sale, it'll be good value for anyone who held out from RDNA 3. Which will likely set AMD back to single digit market share, since people will buy 5070s thinking they're 4090s.

    • @ElderGamerX
      @ElderGamerX 7 часов назад

      @MontySlython The problem is they didn't though. They thought they'd be able to stack this chip, and effectively SLI 2 together on the PCB to make a 9090 xt. But it doesn't work at scale like that. So now they're left with a card that's weaker than a 7900 gre, and are relying on FSR 4 to keep up. But given their track record, FSR 4 will probably look like DLSS 3, which isn't good enough to keep their market share.
      So now they've backed themselves into a corner, because unless they can find a way to improve upon their console designs with UDNA and make a significantly more powerful card, they've removed themselves from the high end completely, and engaged with a battle with Intel on the low end. And considering Intel has better frame gen software than FSR 3 already, there's no guarantee they win that battle.

RT wouldn't be so damn performance heavy if they dedicated resources to optimising it and R&D to make their chips run it better instead of dumping all their money into Fake Frames instead.
    Real-time raytracing has been on consumer hardware for a long time now; 7 years. There is simply no excuse that we're still struggling with it without Fake Frames.
    Look at what little improvements have been made from 2018 to 2025, and compare that from 2000 to 2007. No excuse.

      Probably because rasterized performance has hit a plateau in recent years compared to the early 2000’s. Nvidia was extremely clear that this was impossible to do at this scale without ai. I have no desire to spend 10k on a chip that’s 20 pounds and has to sit independently from my pc to play cyberpunk 8 k native at 60 fps. And if they went that route, it wouldn’t scale to the laptops. I personally hate frame gen. Not because it is a bad thing to have, but because just like TAA it is a bandaid fix to problems that could be solved better. It allows for lazyness in optimization on the game dev's side which who at this point probably assume that you are using frame gen and dlss/fsr meaning that they only care if the game runs well enough with those enabled and don't care about actual performance. The graphics programmers should be forced to work on midrange GPUs, ceneter the game on those with no frame gen or dlss and then switch to a top tier pc for the ultra settings. To me it feels like most games develop for ultra and turn off features completely from there. The worst example that I know is Ark: Survival Ascended like, do not want fully ray traced shadows? I guess you ain't getting any shadows then. If we want ray tracing we should start adding more RT specific cores, or hell maybe even an RT specific card rhat does nothing but that instead of afding AI to halucinate 3/4 of the frames for us and on top of that most of the pixels too. I really hope this trend turns around soon where we pay sky high prices for fake frames.

    • @MontySlython
      @MontySlython 10 часов назад +2

      All your reasons for disliking NVIDIA stem from game devs and not NVIDIA itself, if it were possible for them to push far more raster performance they would have done it, why are the expectations for NVIDIA 10x higher than for AMD even though AMD only markets itself on raster performance and low prices? If it were magically possible for them to make their GPUs more powerful by just not pushing AI at all then wouldn't AMD have reached this mythical raster performance that NVIDIA isn't hitting? it makes no sense and nobody acknowledges this dichotomy.

    • @U_Geek
      @U_Geek 9 часов назад

      @MontySlython I have the same expectations for amd too. I just hate that nvidia leaned into AI generated fake frames as "perfomance". But part of that might come from the fact that I often use GPUs for compute too. And yes it is mostly unreal forcing certain feauters that causes some game dev issues, but selling GPUs based on how well they can fake frames for you doesn't make anything better.

    • @MontySlython
      @MontySlython 8 часов назад +2

      @U_Geek doesn't make things worse either, it's adding some type of performance that they otherwise couldn't figure out how to get on the card, or maybe they could have but didn't because their research and development is trying to push past the need for raster altogether, I see both sides of the argument but the overwhelming hate for nvidias approach is absurd when their techniques are pushing us past the need for extremely strong cards in the future (hopefully), if game devs make things worse thats mostly on them not nvidia imo.

    DLSS is Deep Learning Super Sampling, which means it completes the frame but only rendereing a fraction of it (e.g. render at 1080p and then use DLSS to generate a 4k frame)
    and then Frame Generation takes that one completed frame, and generate 3 extra frames.
    the video on the left is DLSS OFF, so basically it has no super sampling nor frame generation.
    my guess is, 27 frames is at 4k dlss (as stated), and regular DLSS Quality will render it at 2k
    and frame rate will often go up by 1 to 1.5 times, say +1.2 times. so you get 60 frames.
    now DLSS4 gives you 3 extra frame per rendered frame, so you take 60 multiply by 4, you get 240.
    the math checks out. Whats confusing is its demo-ing both DLSS and DLFG, which makes the difference so huge.
