Its when they stopped allowing you to personalize your pages, now its all just conform, pump out the content for the platform and nothing else. All of this causes incentives to engage in degenerate behavior, and it truly did start from this if you look deep into it. Think about an extreme example, say tiktok. What can you customize to personalize your profile? A profile picture, and NOTHING else. The only other thing you can do is upload or consume content, thats it. (Not to mention commenting like we are is the only thing to do to express ourselves and thats why it gets so heated, words, especially with character limits arent enough to accurately convey anyone). Personalization has to come back it also humanizes everyone.
The absolute cancer isn't the platforms, it's the people that use them. Give people anonymity, make them feel like their inner thoughts are allowed to come out without any consequence, and quite a lot of people are really terrible. Not sure if it's the internet/the type of people that frequent the internet, but social media is only the medium for the toxic people that use it.

I'm GenX. No phones, no internet when I was growing up. I have two teens, 15 and 17. They have NO phone, they use mine if needed and they use it in my presence. They have a shared computer in the living room. It may sound harsh, but I don't care. I care more about my kids actually being able to be kids and not having them subjected to the craziness online. Believe or not, my kids are HAPPY. From what I have seen having phones and unfettered access to the internet makes kids miserable. Too many parents are not parenting. I completely agree with Asmongold.
I'm 25. I have forgone having a phone for 5 years now, and limited to a computer i built in 2016. My parents did not do this with me, i always was allowed 'computer access'.. had my first flip phone at 10 years old too ( i played outside alot when younger and i was granted a flip phone for reasons you can guess yourself more than likely.....) It's unbelievable how intertwined phones and computers in general have become intertwined in the economy and 'local societies'. It's out of hand and if it continues to progress or stay at these levels, the human brain will evolve slightly overtime and we will lose certain capabiltties or have less skill in them. Arithmetic is one of those. Back then, there were no calculators / or they werent allowed if you could afford one.. for example.. then come the "modern age" and, when i was in school... calculators were a requirement.... Also the eradication of paper data and documents and the electronification of nearly everything... It makes all of our data way more accessible to bad actors. I am adept at computer programming and reverse engineering of computer programs and understand maybe a little bit just how dangerous "IoT" can be. One of the reasons i refuse to own a phone. I only own a computer because its a requirement in order to even make a living, and i dont even work on a computer. i do manual labor for customers (renovations).... people have forgotten how to use paper systems, or they don't know how to ( newer generations )... Can you imagine the havoc the sun could cause if we have a nasty solar flare hit us and our magnetosphere doesn't mitigate 100% of that solar flare? Certainly would bring down many financial markets as those are largely held electrically and on servers now.... would wreck havoc on all these electrified systems, and a scenario like that is what humans would need. Also the invisible 'pollution' our phones, wifi, radio towers all generate. It's proven that the earths own emissions ( coming from various things like our core ) affects behaviors of wildlife and many other living things. And yet, there is no research or knowledge about what our own EMF emissions will do to behaviours. One thing i know it will do, as someone who has went to college for electrical engineering, it will certainly affect the way insects and many birds navigate ( many use 'crypto-chromic' navigation ' [ See : Cryptochromes ] ' , where they determine what direction to go via sensing the earths magnetic fields , and their changes ). And EMF will affect things of this nature. Some people i know that work in nursing homes and retirement homes, they all say the people they take care of tend to be very loony or weird acting during event of a full moon.... The internet may say this is a murky topic, specifically... but i take personal accounts on this matter seriously as the internet is never always right... But imagine the effect our EMF has on us now, subtley.. Maybe you've noticed ever since the advent of all these phones and wifi into our lives, people have been getting angrier, more empty, losing purpose, etc. People i know that lived in the 50s, 60s,70s for example have noted that people having been acting strangely in the past 10-15 years... Personally, i think we are destroying this planet hardcore, to the detriment to our data ( privacy ) , and our wildlife alike. Also one thing i have noticed, unrelated to this, is that our classical teachings have been removed from our schools and colleges.. See : Aristotle's teachings of government.. Aristotle looked at systems that are byproducts of human nature and made many teachings of this nature based on human behaviour and not circumstances of the time he was living in and his teachings have held up.. Some of these teachings revolve around government.. And one very scary thing is how much we ( the western world and countries.. namely america ) resemble a corporational oligarchy and how people have forgotten this or dont think about it.. and these same people call for the removal or serious restriction of the 2nd ammendment.. these types people need to wake up. Call me crazy? See for yourself.. We are in late stage capitalism- borderline oligarchy... REMOVE POLITICAL DONATIONS ( lobbyism ) ... corporations have been abusing this in America for very very long time now and its to the point where all the laws are setup for the rich to the detriment of the middle class and poor classes. Another thing i noticed is that, leftist's don't seem to understand that when you raise corporate taxes, it all comes out on the consumers. Pay attention to the stock markets for example, in order to continue meeting investor expectations and to continue growing your stock price or to atleast keep it flat, in an environment of rising corporate taxes (in the event these taxes are rised) , you must increase the prices of the goods or product being sold in order to continue. This is the bill your going to foot as a consumer and its completely hidden. You pay much more in taxes than you realize. Ronald Reagan called that our many years ago. Another thing is, back then, you could work for 1-5 years and own a house and you were resourceful ( think : real estate ) / made well above average salaries, own multiple houses in that timeframe. ( average house back then was only about 1-5x the average salary)... now? you're lucky to get a house for 10-15x your average salary here in america. Would take a millenial/newer generation 10-15 years of working an average salary job just to own their own house.. and yet those people are getting yelled at by older generations because they don't have the advantages older generations had back then which are now non-existent.. Also contrary to what some may know of the economy, wages are one of the last things to rise in an inflationary environment, and are not what causes inflation, they merely make it more apparent as the money supply gets disbursed better into the economy rather than being concentrated into the rich. Shit needs to change. As someone who is very hardworking, i am starting to really see why the millennials and newer generations are complaining , not wanting to work, wanting to enjoy life, see doom in the future, and how they are told from a young age that they are disposable in the work force.. then you compile that with how your taught to 'have a dream' as a kid.. (think : I wanna be a doctor!! A lawyer!! and Astronaught!! )... these 'dreams' all are some of the highest paying jobs, and rather than do it out of passion , its done for money. For example, now, you can be refused treatment from a doctor or hospital for merely not having the insurance ( exorbantly overpriced services and materials for insurance companies pay ).. Costs an arm and a leg just to visit them... and also the fact that passion is no longer present or very rare to find in these fields ( people simply having huge passion for a profession rather than be after the money itself only... Not found today in those profession or it is very rare. )...... In my opinion i think you are doing your children a favor by their allowances, but at the same time, they need to learn it due to the fact of how laced in it is with everyday life. I truely wish these devices be eradicated from existance. It's also unnatural to just look and see what someone is doing across the planet.. Its when they stopped allowing you to personalize your pages, now its all just conform, pump out the content for the platform and nothing else. All of this causes incentives to engage in degenerate behavior, and it truly did start from this if you look deep into it. Think about an extreme example, say tiktok. What can you customize to personalize your profile? A profile picture, and NOTHING else. The only other thing you can do is upload or consume content, thats it. (Not to mention commenting like we are is the only thing to do to express ourselves and thats why it gets so heated, words, especially with character limits arent enough to accurately convey anyone). Personalization has to come back it also humanizes everyone.

I'm GenX. No phones, no internet when I was growing up. I have two teens, 15 and 17. They have NO phone, they use mine if needed and they use it in my presence. They have a shared computer in the living room. It may sound harsh, but I don't care. I care more about my kids actually being able to be kids and not having them subjected to the craziness online. Believe or not, my kids are HAPPY. From what I have seen having phones and unfettered access to the internet makes kids miserable. Too many parents are not parenting. I completely agree with Asmongold.

I'm 25. I have forgone having a phone for 5 years now, and limited to a computer i built in 2016. My parents did not do this with me, i always was allowed 'computer access'.. had my first flip phone at 10 years old too ( i played outside alot when younger and i was granted a flip phone for reasons you can guess yourself more than likely.....) It's unbelievable how intertwined phones and computers in general have become intertwined in the economy and 'local societies'. It's out of hand and if it continues to progress or stay at these levels, the human brain will evolve slightly overtime and we will lose certain capabiltties or have less skill in them. Arithmetic is one of those. Back then, there were no calculators / or they werent allowed if you could afford one.. for example.. then come the "modern age" and, when i was in school... calculators were a requirement.... Also the eradication of paper data and documents and the electronification of nearly everything... It makes all of our data way more accessible to bad actors. I am adept at computer programming and reverse engineering of computer programs and understand maybe a little bit just how dangerous "IoT" can be. One of the reasons i refuse to own a phone. I only own a computer because its a requirement in order to even make a living, and i dont even work on a computer. i do manual labor for customers (renovations).... people have forgotten how to use paper systems, or they don't know how to ( newer generations )... Can you imagine the havoc the sun could cause if we have a nasty solar flare hit us and our magnetosphere doesn't mitigate 100% of that solar flare? Certainly would bring down many financial markets as those are largely held electrically and on servers now.... would wreck havoc on all these electrified systems, and a scenario like that is what humans would need. Also the invisible 'pollution' our phones, wifi, radio towers all generate. It's proven that the earths own emissions ( coming from various things like our core ) affects behaviors of wildlife and many other living things. And yet, there is no research or knowledge about what our own EMF emissions will do to behaviours. One thing i know it will do, as someone who has went to college for electrical engineering, it will certainly affect the way insects and many birds navigate ( many use 'crypto-chromic' navigation ' [ See : Cryptochromes ] ' , where they determine what direction to go via sensing the earths magnetic fields , and their changes ). And EMF will affect things of this nature. Some people i know that work in nursing homes and retirement homes, they all say the people they take care of tend to be very loony or weird acting during event of a full moon.... The internet may say this is a murky topic, specifically... but i take personal accounts on this matter seriously as the internet is never always right... But imagine the effect our EMF has on us now, subtley.. Maybe you've noticed ever since the advent of all these phones and wifi into our lives, people have been getting angrier, more empty, losing purpose, etc. People i know that lived in the 50s, 60s,70s for example have noted that people having been acting strangely in the past 10-15 years... Personally, i think we are destroying this planet hardcore, to the detriment to our data ( privacy ) , and our wildlife alike. Also one thing i have noticed, unrelated to this, is that our classical teachings have been removed from our schools and colleges.. See : Aristotle's teachings of government.. Aristotle looked at systems that are byproducts of human nature and made many teachings of this nature based on human behaviour and not circumstances of the time he was living in and his teachings have held up.. Some of these teachings revolve around government.. And one very scary thing is how much we ( the western world and countries.. namely america ) resemble a corporational oligarchy and how people have forgotten this or dont think about it.. and these same people call for the removal or serious restriction of the 2nd ammendment.. these types people need to wake up. Call me crazy? See for yourself.. We are in late stage capitalism- borderline oligarchy... REMOVE POLITICAL DONATIONS ( lobbyism ) ... corporations have been abusing this in America for very very long time now and its to the point where all the laws are setup for the rich to the detriment of the middle class and poor classes. Another thing i noticed is that, leftist's don't seem to understand that when you raise corporate taxes, it all comes out on the consumers. Pay attention to the stock markets for example, in order to continue meeting investor expectations and to continue growing your stock price or to atleast keep it flat, in an environment of rising corporate taxes (in the event these taxes are rised) , you must increase the prices of the goods or product being sold in order to continue. This is the bill your going to foot as a consumer and its completely hidden. You pay much more in taxes than you realize. Ronald Reagan called that our many years ago. Another thing is, back then, you could work for 1-5 years and own a house and you were resourceful ( think : real estate ) / made well above average salaries, own multiple houses in that timeframe. ( average house back then was only about 1-5x the average salary)... now? you're lucky to get a house for 10-15x your average salary here in america. Would take a millenial/newer generation 10-15 years of working an average salary job just to own their own house.. and yet those people are getting yelled at by older generations because they don't have the advantages older generations had back then which are now non-existent.. Also contrary to what some may know of the economy, wages are one of the last things to rise in an inflationary environment, and are not what causes inflation, they merely make it more apparent as the money supply gets disbursed better into the economy rather than being concentrated into the rich. Shit needs to change. As someone who is very hardworking, i am starting to really see why the millennials and newer generations are complaining , not wanting to work, wanting to enjoy life, see doom in the future, and how they are told from a young age that they are disposable in the work force.. then you compile that with how your taught to 'have a dream' as a kid.. (think : I wanna be a doctor!! A lawyer!! and Astronaught!! )... these 'dreams' all are some of the highest paying jobs, and rather than do it out of passion , its done for money. For example, now, you can be refused treatment from a doctor or hospital for merely not having the insurance ( exorbantly overpriced services and materials for insurance companies pay ).. Costs an arm and a leg just to visit them... and also the fact that passion is no longer present or very rare to find in these fields ( people simply having huge passion for a profession rather than be after the money itself only... Not found today in those profession or it is very rare. )...... In my opinion i think you are doing your children a favor by their allowances, but at the same time, they need to learn it due to the fact of how laced in it is with everyday life. I truely wish these devices be eradicated from existance. It's also unnatural to just look and see what someone is doing across the planet.. Yes who wants to be stressed out over what John Doe is doing in Russia while your in the US? Oooh what scandals is he involved in today? . I deleted all my social media back in 2020 because the censorship was just out of control. Maybe it's time I create a new account if I'm actually allowed to have an opinion again. Any recommendations? TikTok is out of the question though, I've always hated that place. I still have Reddit but tbh I've been considering dropping it. The ppl there are insufferable 98% of the time.

My local Lost and Found Pets page got deleted by their AI for "impersonating another page". They appealed and the AI revoked that issue, but kept it deleted for "Selling illegal items". They appealed a third time and actually got a person who fixed it, but it took ages as they had to work out what the AI was upset about otherwise it'd be re-banned immediately. Other community social pet groups said they had been deleted and couldn't get them back. It's rough...
