I love hammocks and agree I can’t find much on using them for early camping. I will disagree on the navy hammock comfort. I am over 6’ tall yet prefer the bow to the short hammock over the diagonal horizontal lay of a longer hammock. It’s personal preference of course. I have a bad back from an accident and that curve really helps. I have a 18th century style canvas hammock in my den that I often read books in and sleep. Nights where my back drives me out of my bed, I end up in my hammock.
Fascinating material

I love the history in all these.. however, one thing for certain, the old gear has lead us to the new gear.. many reasons.
