I think we're going to have a glorious time and all of us will learn something while doing it. With 4 RUclipsrs there, we should see some pretty good coverage. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video. Your clothing wallet is very similar to the one that I made for 1700-1800's living history and it doubles as a pillow. The more things change , the more they stay the same.
Do not listen to negative comments. This is one of the most enjoyable yt channels I watch. Takes me away from all the daily BS and also, I learn a lot and get the old memory jog from my grandfathers and great grandfathers. appreciate all you do.
Thanks for watching! Whenever I do this stuff, I am mindful that We're talking about the time when my grandfathers went camping as young men and later took their sons and daughters camping.
Sarge, As always I enjoy and learn from you each and every video! I'd eat burnt biscuits with you any day and as a Buckeye enjoy your trip and stay in OHIO!!! Be Safe My Friend.
Getting the gear together, although I think you might be in post production of the actual hunt. Which squirrel getter are you taking just in case you see one from the cook fire. I think people today should know how important squirrel was to average people. Enough that you will find more than one President having squirrel stew as his favorite dish. Looking forward to the next segments.
Hunt is 4 weeks away, I'm just excited to go and am prepping early. I'm going to pay attention to the biscuits and bread, especially with this new stove, so no squirrel getter this trip.
@@sargevining Oh boy I don't think I could not slip a .410 or the Winchester gallery .22 in the mix. Squirrel hunting was more important than playing football where I grew up for a good percentage of us. Town kids played football. By highschool and driving ourselves to school as soon as opening day the gun went in to the trunk and after school you went to the woods. Rabbit season was more on the weekends. Those game pouches kept your sandwich for the longer hunts like grouse and pheasant.
And I wish I could remember the name of the song and where I found it. All I remember is that I was looking for copyright free music and everything I tried was getting a copyright warning from RUclips until I used that one.
If I were going with you, my pocket knife would be a French Opinel No 7 and my sheath knife would be a Finnish puukko with a blade just over four inches. Although both of these knives were actually produced fairly recently, both designs existed in their present form before 1900.
Most knives used by Bushcrafters, or anyone else for that matter, are good for Classic Camping as long as they are in a leather sheath and have a wood or leather handle. Pocket knives of any era are OK because they're in your pocket and not visible 99.9% of the time. Thanks for watching!
Hi Sarge! Yes please on the clothing wallet build-along, I would love to see that. BTW, that hat hanging on the wall above the musette, that is a fine fine hat. Where did you find it?
The wallet build can be found in the Sportsman's Workshop Playlist. The Western hat is by Bailey Hats, their Clayton model. I love the ding dang thing. Thanks for watching!
I just found your channel and I quickly subscribed. I am very interested in this type of camping. The clothing wallet you demonstrated seems to be very useful. If you do decide to offer some for sale, I’d be interested.
Thanks for watching and subscribing! Hope you hit the bell so you get the notifications. I'm going to start sewing some things after I get back from Squirrel Camp and a couple of clothing wallets will be on the to do list. I'm also working on a kitchen/mess roll and a ground pad. I'm making small lots of four or five at a time and for many of them that will be it. Other stuff (the stuff I find fun to make or can be done in a short time). I'll post them at VICO Expedition Outfitters and if its posted there, it will be in stock. facebook.com/profile.php?id=100092082552143

Hey Sarge I think the polite word is 'acquired'
Or maybe "liberated". 😅
I do like "liberated" makes me sound like a hero or something.
Very nice. The squirrel hunting camp will be fun!
Yah, it will be, and all of us are going to go home having learned something which makes it even better.
Thanks for watching!

Yah, my understanding is that its pretty much a late 19th Century update of the 18th century market wallet.

Sarge, If you make any of your clothes pockets I would like to buy one. Let me know the cost if and when you make them.

If Sarge has “four bucks” in his coin purse he’s carrying $97.72
