    Great tutorials! I love that you explain everything. I wanted to ask if you can do a nauli and uddiyana bandha tutorial? Is it something you practice?

    My question ❓ squats and definition type of strength exercising reduce legs flexibility question ⁉️

    • @RachelScottYoga
      @RachelScottYoga  3 года назад +1

      Depends how you do them. They can increase flexibility if you work torwards a full range of motion~

    Why aren't you activating the agonists? With LIFTS of the heel off the floor?

    • @RachelScottYoga
      @RachelScottYoga  3 года назад +1

      Hi Gabriel!
      Activating the agonists is a good refinement. (To clarify for anyone reading who does not know, the agonists are the actively shortening muscles, or prime movers, and the antagonists are what is stretching). When you activate the quads of the front leg, the opposite set of muscles - the hamstrings - release through reciprocal inhibition.
      For the back leg, squeezing your glutes and activating your hamstrings will help release the hip flexors. Is this the heel that you meant (back leg)? That's a fun idea and I'll have to try it! However, two issues with that variation: it destabilizes the back leg and it increases the hip flexor stretch through the front of the leg, which could be hard for most people. For advanced practitioners, that could be interesting.
      If you mean lifting the front heel to engage the quads, I wouldn't tend to cue that action as it will hyperextend the front leg and also make it hard to keep the hamstrings engaged (which is protecting the depth of the pose). For advanced practitioners who are highly mobile looking to move into that depth, I could see the appeal, but I tend not to teach that deeply into range of movement. However, if you're in the depth of the pose, I'd say that activating the quads (but not at the expense of some hamstring engagement) is a good idea.
      Thoughts?

      @@RachelScottYoga My thoughts are that there is not enough of kalaripayattu and Indian dance in yoga.
      Needs more standing poses lifting one leg at the barre, before cultivating Hanumasana which is more advanced.
