I LOVE my P400 HSE. I'm 57, my Ranger Tremor was terrible for road trips. Like you mentioned, it's about your use case scenario. Jeep is more capable off road but I need to road trip several times a year 1300 miles over a weekend, and tow a 22' travel trailer. Jeep or Bronco wouldn't work. Defender is great off road here in the Blue Ridge Mountains, even with 20" wheels. No sharp rocks Tommy. Can't wait to see more Defender content.

I put A/T tires on my GX460 and every time I took it to the car wash they would put tire shine on them. I kept telling them not to as it just attracts dirt when you drive it off road but they never listened so I just stopped requesting that. Love that green color on the Defender. I rented a 4 door Bronco Sasquatch with the soft top for a weekend and man the top on that thing is an engineering afterthought. You can't open it fully in the back and there is nothing to keep it open if you're trying to load or unload the back cargo area. Then along the sides it really isn't attached to the frame of the roof at all. In a cross wind I remember seeing huge gaps open up that you could stick your entire arm into (you can also do this when the vehicle is parked). I'm not a fan of top off/down driving because it is typically either too hot or too cold and then there is the risk of overexposure (sunburn, skin cancer etc). No thanks, I'd rather have a roof over my head, which brings me to the Bronco hard top and the reports of creaks and rattles, a common complaint I hear from Jeep owners as well. That would drive me nuts, constantly hearing strange noises while driving. I couldn't deal with that. So, the Bronco and Wrangler for me are a no-go. Ford should make a hard top version with a non-removable roof. I would be interested in that.

Probably a combination of people realizing 2 doors aren’t for them, the payment isn’t for them, and the trips to the dealer for repairs isn’t for them. I always wonder why the North American Spec (NAS) Land Rover Defenders from the 1990s are so valuable. I really don't think it's because of the left-hand drive because you can get plenty of cheap left-hand drive Defenders from Continental Europe and Africa, especially the ones produced by Santana in Spain, which are less than right-hand drive ones. I think it's mostly the V-8, but I'm different from other people because I would prefer a I-4 Diesel over the V-8 any day for fuel economy and lower maintenance costs.

now i need you to put ashcroft atb's in the 110 and take it offroad and let us know your verdict... have a 110 galvanised chassis and galvanised bulkhead 1986 and going strong swapped the old n/a diesel now though for a td5 best choice so far the 200 and 300 tdi are magnificent and durable. the new discovery named defender is way to techy like the grenadier to much electonic dohikities.

Something I find interesting, that has briefly been covered here, is the sad story of GM... They had a product for the sudo luxury/ off road market in Hummer, and they were about 10 years too early to the market. I would almost guarantee if they brought back the H2 (on the revised Tahoe platform) and the H3 (on the revised Colorado platform), they wouldn't be able to keep them on dealer lots. The H-ev is a flop because electric cars (as a whole) are a flop, not because the brand is entirely unloved.

Between salt lake and Denver did y'all catch the land rover caravan of test vehicles? Friends of mine were road tripping out that way and say a big convoy of them all camouflaged. They ended up running into them from Vegas all the way back to Denver and pikes peak.

Hey I still hope one day you'll get another white 110 and do that series. I was stoked about that and wish it had worked out like you guys ORIGINALLY planned as an overlander.

Land Rover owners are some of the strangest vehicle fans I've ever known. Last guy I knew who had one spent no less than $5k in repairs every year he owned it, but whenever he was asked how he liked it he'd tell everyone what a great and reliable vehicle it was. It was like Stockholm Syndrome in an automotive way. I'm a Jeep guy and it was absurd even to me! lol

Land Rover is still in business because of Stockholm syndrome and show-offs, I swear.
They break down so often that they’re barely even enjoyable imo, how is it not the same even for those who can afford the repairs?
