We actually do see the Phantasm again in the Justice Unlimited series episode Epilogue which ends the Batman character flashing to the future showing Batman Beyond joining the JL team we see Phantasm as she's older now working for Amanda Waller in one sequence lol.
😅Love your content mate keep up the good work. 1 thing i noticed in this list though is you actually dont mention the name of your favourite batman movie lol. You mention it stars robert pattison and that its the newest batman movie but not the title of said movie lol
Found your channel last weekend and been binging ever since. Subbed today 😁Saw The Batman yesterday and loved it and your nonspoiler review was a big reason I went and saw it in IMAX so thanks! 😁
I just realized that when Batman beats criminals, it’s always to learn something from them that ties to the villain or the plot. But the fact that this film opens with him attacking criminals that have no ties to anything was the thing that made me realize this Batman was going to be amazing.
I loved how Matt Reeves had the camera linger on the shadows at the beginning, he portrayed Batman as some sort of monster that everyone feared and no one should fuck with!
I’ll never understand this list, or your beau is afraid review/ or how you think the Texas chainsaw massacre remake is better than the original, but respect and to each their own
The one scene in The Batman that became my favorite scene in the film, especially on a second viewing, is the Colson scene. MY GOODNESS talk about tension being wound up like a guitar string in that scene, and Pattinson, Dano, and Saarsgard operate at the top of their game just in that scene alone.
After watching HBO’s The Penguin and The Batman, I'm a new follower. Great coverage. And, BTW, as a GenExer, your childhood love for Batman and Robin is the same as mine for the original Batman Movie with Adam West. 🤘
1. The Dark Knight 2. The Batman 3. Batman Begins The Batman is the best “Batman” film while The Dark Knight is the best film featuring Batman in my opinion. Loved the new suit and bat mobile and really hoping for a Mr. Freeze sequel.
I’m the same way, when people declare the newest film “the best” I tend to ask, just outta the theater are we… but damn I agree, after I watched The Batman I went home and rewatched the dark knight, while still a masterpiece to me things about the film that bugged me The Batman perfected. so to me The Batman is my favorite Batman film.
I'm in complete agreement with your ranking. I'm 31 so we grew up with the same batman films. Your list resonates with me alot. Your list is basically the same as mine albeit a couple of differences here and there. Awesome video Cody.✌
Fun fact: My step father's nephew was the stunt man for Arnold's Mr. Freeze, Howard Langston in Jingle all the Way and a couple other films (I can't remember which). 🙂
Cody, I have been a fan since October 2019. Every time I see a new vid I know we agree more and more. I came out of the theatre and my friends said I was nuts for thinking this was the best. Let time mend their wounds when they eventually agree with me. This is THE Batman movie.
to me, batman vs superman had the best hand to hand ( warehouse scene ) nolan batman had some of the best characters ( joker ) and the new batman film to me was a combination of of all the best of both those films combined with the Arkham games mixed in
I have watched this 4 times, and every successive viewing it's just gets better man🦇🦇 And the thing about seeing Robert Pattinson eyes and the emotion it carries is just awesome I believe Robert Pattinson is my new favourite live action batman🦇🦇🦇
My personal ranking: 1, The Batman 2, Batman: Begins 3, The Dark Knight 4, Zack Snyder’s Justice League 5, Batman Returns 6, The Lego Batman movie 7, The Dark Knight Rises 8, Batman (1989) 9, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 10, Batman Forever 11, Batman and Robin 12, Batman (1966) 13, Josstice League I haven’t seen The Mask of the Phantasm yet
I genuinely couldn't agree more. The Batman is, for me, the greatest Batman film ever made. It feels like Matt Reeves crawled inside my head, and made a Batman film specifically for me. I know a lot of people feel like that. I've seen it 4 times, and I love it more each time. I didn't think that was possible after the first viewing. Absolutely brilliant film. BY FAR my favorite.
I feel the exact same way. Every single time I read the comics, this was the movie I envisioned. I honestly think it’s a perfect movie. I have zero complaints and I can’t wait to see it again.
You only think that because you just watched the film recently. Sadly it has a lot of continuity and plot errors. It's always like that, the movie you watched the latest you think it's the best movie ever. Give it some time and re-watch The Dark Knight or Batman Returns, you'll change your mind really quick
A masterpiece don’t take 3 hours it’s a really fucking good movie don’t get me wrong but the fact it took 3 hours to tell this prettttty simple story Drops it quite a bit
It was hard to say, initially that “The Batman” was my favorite, but it is my number 1 too. With Batman movies, it really is like picking between your kids. There are just so many great ones.
@@Chubbytoad12 1. The suit 2. The batmobile 3 the portrayal of Bruce Wayne 4 The decline in quality of fight choreography 5 The conflicting tone of trying to be extra scary while also keeping the no kill rule which I dont really think works. 6 The villain (and I like Paul) 7 Catwoman To be fair I though Pattison was a solid Batman with a good, fresh bat voice. I liked Gotham, I liked Colin Farrell as Penguin. I liked Batman/Gordon's relationship/interaction and I liked the the mobster from the Big Lebowski(forget his name). So that's the truth. Not a hater but I love Batman films & I haven't been able to get through a 2nd viewing. I also never met one person offline in real life that liked the movie 🤷♂️ Everyone I know, even big batman fans said...."meh" at best.
It's funny how everyone shit on Robert when the casting was announced. I always argued with people online that everyone did the same with Ben's announcement and everyone now loves him. Everyone looks like a fool yet again. I cannot wait for the sequel. I hope they don't rush it though and spend a good 4 years like the Nolan movies did. I agree with your list here pretty much to a Tee. The new film surprised me in such a wonderful way
Great ranking. I think honestly, The Batman might be my favorite Batman film too, just the way it tells the story and the arc Bruce has is so good. Batman Begins I think is my second favorite too, the only problem I have with it is the editing felt really off to me in parts. I know it was straight to DVD, but I wanna shout out Batman Under the Red Hood. I freaking love that movie, great story. Looking forward to all the rankings you have coming.
Good list I haven't seen every movie and don't remember phantasm but here's mine. 10. Batman and Robin 9. Batman forever 8. JL 17 7. Batman 89 6. Batman returns 5. Batman begins 4. Dark knight rises 3. Bvs 2. JL Snyder cut 1. Dark knight
I have literally never met someone who feels the same way I do in ranking batman begins over TDK. And I also agree that The Batman is the best of them all
Ik I'm late to this comment but I agree with you as well I understand all the hype for the dark Knight but take out heath ledgers performance you have an average crime thriller when Batman begins is a fantastic set up to an amazing origin story.
Having just watched the movie a second time to make sure I didn't have dust in my eyes, I've found it's still mind boggling fantastic. And I hope if this does become its own trilogy set or however many, that the next one may be Court of Owls/Dick Grayson introduction as an actual kid? Maybe not, but teen probably. Crazy idea?
My opinion...1. Dark Knight 2. Batman Begins 3. Batman Returns 4. 1989 Batman. Hahaha. We ain't gonna agree but Tum Burton killed it and his Batman films set the pace for the future of superhero films. Loved them. Couldn't get into THE Batman.
Great video. It's interesting to hear you talk about how Dark Knight fanatics hurt your experience with the movie, because that's more or less how I feel with the new Batman. I really liked it, but the way people are talking about it like it's unquestionably the best comic book movie ever are starting to get to me
Yes. I’d probably give the new one a 7/10 but everywhere I see you’re only allowed to call it a cinematic masterpiece and can’t say it has any flaws at all. If you say you liked TDK better you’re an idiot with bad taste even though TDK has been considered a masterpiece since 2008 by the same people
@@voiceofmovies3941 once the hype dies down we'll see where it lands but I do love the new Batman film but I'm planing on watching the trilogy again before seeing the batman for the second time
You guys need to stop paying attention to morons. Don't let the loud minority ruin the new movie for you. I wish my TDK issue was a loud minority but it always seemed to be the majority.
@@darthmisogyny3828Yeah I rewatched all the Batman movies before this new one and I still think it’ll take some absolutely amazing movies to take down TDK and Begins. The Batman though is better than TDKR so I’d have the new one in third but with a significant drop down between second and third ranking
@@CodyLeachYT I don’t know about OP but I wouldn’t say they’re ruining the movie for me, it’s just an observation. My score was 7/10 before I even logged back on social media after the movie and it’s still the same. I really am glad though that you and others have a 10/10 movie. It’s just annoying internet bullshit always seeing people diss on the previous “masterpiece” when the new one comes out just like how it became cool to shit on Raimi-Man when there was a time it was universally acknowledged SM2 was a top tier comic book movie
I really do need to catch The Batman again, i really enjoyed it the first time through. Though, i did feel the pacing dipped very briefly for me (cant remember when exactly, i just recall thinking 'Dang this movie is pretty long'). Really did love the batmobile and the characters, the dry humor was done very well. Think my only real complaint was the whole "Bruce and Batman dont seem like different entities" but that could easily be something he grows into in later films. and some of the riddles took me a second to connect to the solution even when it was explained
The Dark Knight The Batman Batman Begins Batman: Mask Of The Phantasm The LEGO Batman Movie Zack Snyder's Justice League The Dark Knight Rises Batman Returns Batman Batman: The Movie Batman Forever Josstice League Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice Batman & Robin
I don’t even wanna post my list because it couldn’t be any further from yours lol. But screw it let’s go. 1. The Dark Knight Rises- One of my favorite movies of all time. Bane is an absolute beast. 2. The Dark Knight- Another one of my favorite movies of all time. 3. Batman 89- Fantastic film. Always loved this one. 4. Joker- Fantastic origin story, even though it wasn’t really the joker that we all know and love. 5. Batman Forever- Not sorry at all, I grew up with these films and I love them. Two Face and Riddler are an absolute blast to watch. Very fun movie. 6. Batman and Robin- Yep, I put this one this high up. This movie is ridiculously stupid, but that’s why I love it. I can quote the lines in this movie all day. So hilarious. The combination of nostalgia and humor makes it a very fun time for me 7. Batman Returns- Always my least favorite of the 90s era, it’s still a good movie. Michelle as Catwoman is one of the best villains on this list in my opinion. 8. Batman Begins- I like it but I don’t love it. Begins was always a little boring to me. And it did the scarecrow a little dirty. I also don’t like the back and forth through time stuff. I enjoy it but it’s not one of my favorites. 9. The Batman- Gotta be honest, this isn’t my kind of Batman movie. I respect it, but it just didn’t do it for me. I recognize it was a great film, but it was just a little too much. I like a dark Batman, but this was just so slow and so long. At one point I forgot I was watching a Batman movie. I think it’s awesome that so many people love this movie, but this Batman and this world is just not for me. 10. Batman v Superman- Not a fan. I watched it once and have no desire to watch it again. Meh. 11. Justice League- I don’t like this movie at all. 12. Batman 66- Not my thing whatsoever. 13. Catwoman- Lol 14. Suicide Squad- Literally my least favorite movie of all time.
Enjoyed the breakdown brother! I am trying my best to erase the 2017 Justice League from my memory and when I ranked the movie I didn't even mention it. I see so much potential for what Reeves and the crew are doing, especially with this Batman discovering what it means to be Bruce Wayne.
My favorites before this new release were ZSJL, BVS UE, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Now The Batman has joined the list after seeing it in theaters for the first time and can't wait to watch it again.
This channel is so awesome lately! Seriously great!! Here is my Batman movie ranking. Note that I only rank the theatrically released films and if I ranked all the animated ones they will probably dominate this list... Starting with the two I probably won’t rewatch ever! 14. Justice League(2017). This movie is so bad in my eyes that it’s crazy. I hated Batman but specially hated Flash and Stephenwolf! There’s is nothing I like about the movie! 13. Batman(1966). I understand that it is an historical movie but I really can’t enjoy it today because it’s really dated for me. However, I do like the chemistry between villains. All the movies from now on I would rewatch in the future for different reasons... 12. Batman And Robin. This is a movie I can still enjoy for how ridiculous it is. I always love when I watch this movie and see all those ice puns and how slutty Poison Ivy is. However, I still consider it an awful movie. 11. The Dark Knight Rises. I really don’t like most of this movie. Its got beautiful cinematography but the story is lacking at best. Bane wasn’t great and Thalia is the worst live action Batman villain... also, Batman was barley even in it. from here on I really like all the movies. 10. The Lego Batman Movie. It was different but kinda nice. I really didn’t liked Batgirl in this one. The villains from other franchises were a nice touch. 9. Batman Forever. I may have a soft spot for it but I kind of like it. Val is one of my favourite actors and I loved his Bruce Wayne parts, his Batman not as much but still great if you could get rid of those Bat nips. Robin was great. The Riddler was a little bit much but at least the story of a personal grudge towards the hero was original at the time. I can’t defend the Wacky Two Face or the horny Chase Meridian. 8. Batman. For me its a Joker movie and Jack Nicolson was so great. Michael Keaton is very solid as both Bruce Wayne and as Batman. I like the Batmobile and BatPlane. Also a very important movie with an amazing score. But it could be really boring at parts. Also Vicky Vale feels like a low budget Lois Lane. 7. The Dark Knight. The cast is great and the opening sequence is amazing!!! Heath Ledger was great in the role. Aaron Ackheart was Solid as Harvey but is Two Face got wasted as a one time crook that got manipulated by a better villain so I actually really dislike this version of the character. Christian Bale was less better than he was previously and I didn’t liked the way he decided to leave things all. A real Batman would have taken the fall and still remained Batman despite having the cops on his tale. Also a bit overrated for me. From here on are the Batman movies that I genuinely love!!! 6. Batman Begins. The best of the Nolan trilogy in my eyes! Great cast. Bale is great here! The villains are awesome and I also like all the side characters(including Kate Holmes). If the final fight between Batman and Ras׳ wouldn’t felt so short and weak this movie would probably be in my top 3. 5. Batman V Superman: The Dawn Of Justice(The Ultimate Edition). This movie has way more flaws than the Nolan films but it is an epic crossover I’ve been waiting for so many years. Even though his actions are suited and not that lacking, Lex Luther is awful and so annoying in this film! I really don’t care for how stupid and useless Lois is in this one... the rest of the movie is great. For me Gal is great as Wonder Woman and Henry is the best Superman ever. As for the Batman aspects: I think Ben Aflleck is the best in finding the balance between Bruce Wayne and Batman. I also love how badass he is! Jeremy Irons is the best Alfred in my eyes. The fight between Batman and Superman is epic, the final fight against Doomsday is good and the wear house sequence is the best Batman action scene ever!! 4. Batman Returns. It is my third favourite Christmas films(after Die Hard and Home Alone). I love it’s Gothic vibes. The score is amazing! I also love the animalistic nature of the film and the sub massage that humans are worst than animals Via Max Shriek and Penguin’s parents. Keaton is really solid as Bruce and Batman! Penguin is iconic and Catwoman is legendary! Max Shriek was great opposite of Bruce Wayne. I Also loved the circus people and to date they are my favourite comic book movie powerless goons. I like the Batboat and the Yelloy bird boat that Penguin uses. Yeah I know it’s considered a weird movie but I like this kind of weirdness. 3. The Batman. I loved this movie! The detective aspect was amazing! Cinematography was amazing! The fights were good even though the armor was little to capable for this realistic version of the character in my eyes. I didn’t love the new Batmobile but the car chase scene was so amazing! Robert was great as Batman and I didn’t care for the absence of the Bruce part of the character. Zoe was great as Catwoman and I liked how they made her realistic. Alfred was good but lacked screen time. Gordon was great as well. I liked The Riddler and his plan but didn’t liked the custom and kind of split about his behaviour after getting caught. The Penguin is great and would love to see more, great job Collin. For me the standout was John Turturro as Carmine Falcon, wow! A great film! I only watched twice in 24 hours so this one can go up or down in my ranking! 2. Batman: The Mask Of Phantasm. A great movie that also flash out Bruce’s past. I love everything about it from Batman being framed and having to face the GCPD to the new awesome one time villain of Phantasm! Such a cool design. The detective aspect of the story is amazing. The romantic story is great. Usually I don’t like it when Joker is a surprise villain in a film, game or show but here he is just amazing and not too much! Just perfect! Voices of Mark and Kevin will never get enough praises! 1. Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Batman is the main character so I consider this to be a Batman film! This is MY Lord Of The Rings! The score and cinematography are great! Before I’ll get to Batman I’ll just say that this movie did justice to all the Justice League members, Silas Stone, Gordon and Alfred. It even made Joker great and Lex less bad. Stephenwolf is great as a villain and Darkside as great as the looming threat! I loved The Nightcrawler and all of the cars and gadgets! This movie is so epic to me and Batman is definitely the best part because he is so different than what I used to by being so optimistic, using guns(really good at them as well lol) and threatening to Murder Joker(OMG I love this scene so much!). This is my favourite Comic Book movie in recent memory and I’ve watched it 6 which amounts to 24 hours!
I was born in 1989, so i can relate to a lot of your views on cinema as a whole Cody Leach. Batman:The Animated Series is an ALL TiME CLASSiC cartoon series. I remember coming home everyday from kindergarten(at this time is when BTAS was being debuted/aired live), 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade(the show ended, so then by)4th grade & 5th grade, I was binge watching the reruns that would air on TV. I was 4 years old when I first watched 1989 Michael Keaton‘s Batman and then I watched it again at 5yrs old, when I was in kindergarten, at this age is when I could really understand what was going on and i actually remembered the movie(instead of in bits & pieces where it felt like me watching 1989 Batman was a 4yr olds FEVER DREAM)I loved it even more and when Batman Returns came out in 1992(🤗I loved this one more than the 1st one) I love everything Batman (except) those Lego’s movies, I’ve never been a Lego’s fan, I never played with Lego’s, Lego’s wasn’t my “go to toy” as a kid, so all Batman Movies are amazing to me, I’ve seen them all, but the worst of them all(to me personally) was ALL of the -LEGO Batman Movies- I’ll ALWAYS pick 1997’s Batman & Robin over -2017’s The LEGO Batman Movie- 2008 The Dark Knight( I was 19yrs old) is the 1st Batman movie that I have experienced in the theatre, on opening week, of this movie, & that was the BEST movie experience ever! The Dark Knight will ALWAYS be my #1. It’s even more of a heart tugging movie & date for me(July 18, 2008) because 7 days later on July 25, 2008 at 3:00 am, my family & I would get a call that my cousin Willie Ray Adams Jr. had been murdered in his apartment, which was next door, to the house, that my Aunt Denise came home to after giving birth to my cousin Willie Ray back in 1970-something, so I lost my cousin, & one of my favorite actors(Heath Ledger) since 10 things I hate about you within the same year & recently the same with my uncle(March 8,2018) & my grandmother(August 2018) dying in the same year (2018) & then losing my dad on March 5, 2021. Whew! God bless everyone
100% agree with, The Batman being #1, still shocked that this film topped my other fav Bat films over the years, this had everything I wanted in a Batman film, with the perfect blend of the comics, and realism this shit was briliant.
Batman 2022. Imagine watching this epic movie, loving every minute only for the very final scene to be filmed in the area where I grew up! Possibly the most special moment in my movie watching history.
21:43 Phantasm did appear in one scene of the last episode of the animated Justice League show that also served as a finale for Batman Beyond as an assassin for Amanda Waller.
Batman Returns will always be my favorite Batman movie of all time. I was also born in ‘90 so there’s obviously nostalgia attached to it for me but it’s always struck the perfect balance of dark/gothic and fun side of Batman for me. I can definitely acknowledge that there are way better made Batman movies but I don’t personally love the hyper realistic/down to earth take on comic books movies. It just feels so boring. The craziness and fun is PART of Batman so it sucks when directors don’t want to include any of that. Also, Michelle Pfieffers Catwoman is iconic.
My favorite Batman films from best to worst. 1) The Batman 2022 2) Batman 1989 3) The Dark Knight 2008 4) Batman: Hush 5) Batman Returns 1992 6) Batman Begins 2005 7) The Dark Knight Rises 2012 8) Mask of the Phantasm 9) Batman Forever 1995 10) Batman & Robin 1997
I didn't think a new Batman movie would ever come close to the Nolan trilogy, this movie is right there with the Dark Knight as the best. The only nit pick I have is the introduction of joker, thought that was pretty weak. Otherwise, it's fantastic
Good list and take on these films, here's mine.... 1. The Batman 2022 2. Batman: Mask of the Phantasm 3. Batman Begins 4. The Dark Knight 5. Batman Returns 6. Batman 1989 7. The Dark Knight Rises 8. Zack Snyder's Justice League 9. Batman vs Superman Ultimate Edition 10. Batman Forever 11. Batman & Robin 12. Justice League 2017
My list (only including live-action) would be: 10. Batman & Robin 9. Batman Forever 8. Batman Returns 7. The Dark Knight Rises 6. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 5. Batman 66 4. The Batman 3. The Dark Knight 2. Batman Begins 1. Batman 89
1. The Dark Knight 2. The Batman 3. The Dark Knight rises 4. Batman Begins 5. Batman Forever 6. Batman 1989 7. Batman Returns 8. Batman and Robin 9. Batman 1966 10. Justice League 11. Batman vs Superman
@@braxtonrasmussen I enjoyed some of the movie and it was a cool theater experience I just didn't like it that much:/ but I think it's great that you really liked it I only watched it once so maybe I would enjoy it more on a rewatch but thank you for not being mean about me not liking it as much you did
@Tomás Santos it's like The Dark Knight is a great film that just so happens to have batman in it, while The Batman has batman in it but just so happens to be a good film if that makes sense lol
@Emo Gamer R yes but its a much grounded film with a great story. If you replaced Batman with a different character it would still be a good film, while if you replace Batman in The Batman film it wouldn't work
I've only seen The Batman once, but it blew me away and I absolutely loved what Pattinson brought to the role and the tone and atmosphere was perfection in my opinion!
I've seen The Batman twice this week, and have had time to think about ranking. I grew up watching Batman '66 and saw Schumacher's a LONG time ago, but I find Burton's movies weird and disgusting. After two movies, I understand people had nostalgia for these. Sure, there's an argument that Returns is better. People seem to have a serious hard-on for Snyder's version of Batman and Superman, but I just don't get it, although I appreciate his style and fight scenes. But his Snyder Cut and BvS are really overstuffed and WAY too long, but I would give the Snyder Cut the edge. #6 would also be TDKR for me. Mask of the Phantasm is surprisingly good. The Dark Knight is more a Joker movie than a Batman one, and I would say Batman Begins is the superior Batman movie, which (unlike the new ones) is the perfect length and (dare I say) not afraid to have some fun while being a dark and gritty reboot.
My ranking of live action Batman: TDK The Batman Batman Begins TDKR Synder’s Justice League Batman V Superman Batman Batman Returns Batman Forever Batman & Robin
I don’t know what I’m missing with the Batman. I was so excited to see it and I love film noir. Seven and zodiac are some of my favourite movies so this film should have been made for me but I thought it was okay. Doesn’t come close to the dark knight for me.
Exactly how I felt lol.. feels good to hear somebody have the same opinion as me I’ve just been crucified for not saying it’s the epitome of perfection
Begins is my favorite one, with dark knight in number 2, but the Batman may overtake both of them some day. I need to see it a few more times. Another great list man, thanks for putting all the effort into your videos, always a joy, even when I disagree 100 percent.
Great list Cody! Right now my top 5 would be the Nolan films, Returns, and The Batman. Would have to figure out where they all fall though. Very tough.
Thanks for mentioning the connection between the Riddler in the Batman and the Arkham City game! I picked up on it too and thought this was a cool take on the Riddler.
Awesome list Cody, I agree a ton with your ranking and perspectives. My top 5: 1. The Dark Knight (on the verge of slipping to 2, but for now stills holds the top spot) 2. The Batman (have to see it a few more times but may jump to #1) 3. Batman ‘89 4. Batman Begins 5. Batman Returns
I'm in the minority but I found my self getting bored during The Batman. I'm not saying it's a bad movie. I've seen far worse. I guess the fairest thing I could say is they've yet to meet my expectations of what Batman is. Either way The Batman was a solid 7 out of 10 for me. Bat Mobile was dope wanna see more of it. Maybe a BatWing in the future.
My list 12. Batman forever 11. Batman and robin 10. Batman the movie 9. Dark knight rises 8. Lego batman 7. Zach Snyder's justice league 6. BvS ultimate edition 5. Mask of the phantasm 4. The dark knight 3. Batman begins 2. Batman returns 1. Batman
Nice, I’ve only seen the live action films and LEGO Batman. However, the only reason why Begins is a bit lower in my ranking list for me is because Katie Holmes’s performance almost kills that movie for me, kinda like how Leach says Cary Elwes’s performance in SAW almost ruined the first film for him. My ranking: 1. The Dark Knight (10/10) 2. BATMAN 1989 (10/10) 3. The BATMAN 2022 (10/10) 4. Zack Snyder’s justice League (10/10) 5. BATMAN Returns (9/10) 6. 1. The Batman 2. The Dark Knight (amazing film no doubt, but let's be honest Joker makes the movie so much) 3. Batman Begins 4. Mask of the Phantasm 5. Dark Knight Rises
My list with all these movies- 13. Josstis league 12. Batman and Robin 11. Batman 66 ( I hate Batman and Robin I haven't watch this movie in years and the only reason it's lower than 66 is because I can watch it and see it as a product of it's time) 10. The lego Batman movie 9. Batman Forever 8. Batman Returns 7. Batman vs Superman (Ultimate Edition) 6. The Dark knight rises 5. Batman 89 ( Nostalgic for me) 4. Batman Mask of the phantasm 3. Zack snyders justice league 2. Batman begins/ The Batman (Need to watch The Batman again to decide) 1. The Dark Knight ( My favourite Movie of all time so it's hard to beat) The top 5 movies are masterpices to me. Great list Cody.
I agree, The Batman is just a masterpiece and it's my favorite interpretation of the character. Now it could be argued that the Dark Knight is better, but The Batman is the best 'Batman' film due to how accurate it all is to the modern day Batman. Same with Begins. The Dark Knight is the better movie, but Begins felt more like Batman to me.
@Emo Gamer R Bruh its not The Batman is based off the Long Halloween but it also took a shit ton from other forms of Batman Media. But Nolan took the basis of characters and weaved them into his True Crime story. Nolan has never once said that he took inspiration from The Long Halloween and any interview.
Been watching your videos for a couple of months now and finally subscribed. I liked your explanations for why you ranked the Batman movies the way you did. My list was a little different but quite similar. You mentioned wishing to see more of the Phantasm. I’m not sure if you watched it but they brought the Mask of the Phantasm version of her back in the Justice League Unlimited episode “Epilogue”. Not a big role but maybe you’d like to watch it.
My ranking: 1. The Batman (2022) (5/5) 2. The dark knight (5/5) 3. Zack Snyder justice league (5/5) 4. Batman begins (5/5) 5. Batman: mask of the phantasm (5/5) 6. The dark knight rises (5/5) 7. Batman vs Superman ultimate cut (5/5) 8. Batman returns (4.5/5) 9. Batman (1989) (4.5/5) 10. The Lego Batman movie (4/5) 11. Batman (1966) (3.5/5) 12. Batman forever (3.5/5) 13. Batman and robin (2.5/5) 14. Justice league (0.5/5)
I haven't seen The Batman yet but I will say this. I am not a big fan of the Nolan trilogy as much as the next guy. I don't know why but I just don't find the storyline that compelling and interesting, especially the sequels. They were more like crime thrillers than Batman storyline. Also, the villains get way more attention than the hero himself. Batman Begins is my favorite of the trilogy but even that film isn't perfect and it's because of its fighting sequences (Too much unnecessary cutting).
100% agree with you. I always felt that way with Nolan’s approach to Batman. I also felt like Gotham city in the movies didn’t feel like Gotham. It felt like Chicago, and Gotham is just as much as a character in the comic books and it wasn’t portrayed in the Nolan films.
I liked how raw Batman was in the new film, he still hadn't got a handle on his anger, was an excellent film My list would be Dark knight The Batman Batman begins Dark knight rises Justice League (ZS) Batman Vs superman( warehouse scene is still amazing) Batman MOTP Batman 89 Dark knight returns animated Batman returns
THANK YOU, Cody!!! Finally someone who gets as annoyed at fans overhyping The Dark Knight like I do. The Dark Knight is a good movie with a GREAT villain. That's it. Anyway, my legit rankings: 1. The Batman 2. ZS JL 3. Batman Begins 4. BvS 5. 89 6. Mask of the Phantasm 7. Lego 8. Returns That's all I acknowledge Anyway, long time viewer and usually agree with you spot on. Keep the amazing vids coming!!

You have alot to binge Cody covers alot of horror film and tv,If you're a Chucky Fan,Dexter fan and Fri 13,among others you will have a blast
Cody deserves this amount of love!
He is bingable!
@@jermainehaslam5634 indeed!
I’ll never understand this list, or your beau is afraid review/ or how you think the Texas chainsaw massacre remake is better than the original, but respect and to each their own
As someone who has followed you for 5 years, this is definitely the first time you have had this much praise for a new movie.
The scene for me was the 1st riddler scene. I said "oh shit. This aint a regular Batman Movie"
@@cakeboy227 At that moment, it became THAT KIND of film
Phantasm has been in the comics since though. But yeah, would be awesome to see a live action version of the character.
After watching HBO’s The Penguin and The Batman, I'm a new follower. Great coverage. And, BTW, as a GenExer, your childhood love for Batman and Robin is the same as mine for the original Batman Movie with Adam West. 🤘
1. The Dark Knight
2. The Batman
3. Batman Begins
The Batman is the best “Batman” film while The Dark Knight is the best film featuring Batman in my opinion. Loved the new suit and bat mobile and really hoping for a Mr. Freeze sequel.
Couldn't have said it better myself!
Just thought about writing the same TOP 3, thanks for saving the time :)
Mr freeze nahh
What killed the dinosaurs? The ICE AGE lol
Want Mr. Freeze from Arkham games translated to next movie
That’s so cool!
Cody, I have been a fan since October 2019. Every time I see a new vid I know we agree more and more. I came out of the theatre and my friends said I was nuts for thinking this was the best. Let time mend their wounds when they eventually agree with me. This is THE Batman movie.
to me, batman vs superman had the best hand to hand ( warehouse scene ) nolan batman had some of the best characters ( joker ) and the new batman film to me was a combination of of all the best of both those films combined with the Arkham games mixed in
I have watched this 4 times, and every successive viewing it's just gets better man🦇🦇
And the thing about seeing Robert Pattinson eyes and the emotion it carries is just awesome
I believe Robert Pattinson is my new favourite live action batman🦇🦇🦇
Why would you watch this video four times?
Nice list Cody! I love watching your videos because you always state your honest opinion!
My personal ranking:

I haven’t seen The Mask of the Phantasm yet
You gotta check out Mask of The Phantasm. I saw it in 93 in theaters and have enjoyed it ever since. It’s my favorite Batman movie.
Mask is a great movie
I genuinely couldn't agree more. The Batman is, for me, the greatest Batman film ever made. It feels like Matt Reeves crawled inside my head, and made a Batman film specifically for me. I know a lot of people feel like that. I've seen it 4 times, and I love it more each time. I didn't think that was possible after the first viewing. Absolutely brilliant film. BY FAR my favorite.
I feel the exact same way. Every single time I read the comics, this was the movie I envisioned. I honestly think it’s a perfect movie. I have zero complaints and I can’t wait to see it again.
Agreed, it's so fucking good and I constantly had chills throughout, seeing it for the 3rd time Friday
You only think that because you just watched the film recently. Sadly it has a lot of continuity and plot errors. It's always like that, the movie you watched the latest you think it's the best movie ever. Give it some time and re-watch The Dark Knight or Batman Returns, you'll change your mind really quick
@@dahannes6739 oh shut up. It has no plot errors. The movie is a masterpiece and is the best Batman movie ever made. Now sit down and be quiet.

It was hard to say, initially that “The Batman” was my favorite, but it is my number 1 too. With Batman movies, it really is like picking between your kids. There are just so many great ones.
Yeah I like ranking my kids too

While The Dark Knight may be a better film, The Batman is a better Batman film if that makes sense?

1. The suit
2. The batmobile
3 the portrayal of Bruce Wayne
4 The decline in quality of fight choreography
5 The conflicting tone of trying to be extra scary while also keeping the no kill rule which I dont really think works.
6 The villain (and I like Paul)
7 Catwoman
To be fair I though Pattison was a solid Batman with a good, fresh bat voice.

The Batman is a MASTERPIECE
@@HorrorComedyActionwehaveall it’s so painfully overrated, Heath Ledger carried. Without him, like you said, it’s just a decent crime thriller
Crazy idea?
It really touched me deep inside when you talk about Heath Ledger, that really is the best way to describe the feeling!! Great job Cody!!
My opinion...1. Dark Knight 2. Batman Begins 3. Batman Returns 4. 1989 Batman.
Hahaha. We ain't gonna agree but Tum Burton killed it and his Batman films set the pace for the future of superhero films. Loved them. Couldn't get into THE Batman.
25:37 AGREED. TDK's worshippers ruin it.
The Batman is the best Batman other than the bark knight
Thanks for showing love to Batman begins!! Love you man! Very good list, i agree totally!

The combination of nostalgia and humor makes it a very fun time for me
13. Catwoman- Lol
14. Suicide Squad- Literally my least favorite movie of all time.
A couple of these I need to watch.
But my top 3 would be:
1. The Batman
2. Batman Returns
3. The Dark Knight
Enjoyed the breakdown brother! I am trying my best to erase the 2017 Justice League from my memory and when I ranked the movie I didn't even mention it.
I see so much potential for what Reeves and the crew are doing, especially with this Batman discovering what it means to be Bruce Wayne.
Loved you’re ranking & I loved Sean’s though I disagreed with both. I guess that’s what makes cinema so special !!
Love Batfleck. The best for me. It's just that he needed better scripts
Thank you so much for having the guts to put Batman Begins over The Dark Knight
It's a shame that it takes guts. The movies are so damn good it should be easily understandable.
Very good video.
Love seeing people's thoughts on these multiple iterations of Batman, whether older, or modern.
Just a great thing.
I’m so happy you put The Batman at the top of your list! Because it is a 5/5 movie! I can’t wait to go see it again.
I was 4 years old when I first watched 1989 Michael Keaton‘s Batman and then I watched it again at 5yrs old, when I was in kindergarten, at this age is when I could really understand what was going on and i actually remembered the movie(instead of in bits & pieces where it felt like me watching 1989 Batman was a 4yr olds FEVER DREAM)I loved it even more and when Batman Returns came out in 1992(🤗I loved this one more than the 1st one)
I love everything Batman (except) those Lego’s movies, I’ve never been a Lego’s fan, I never played with Lego’s, Lego’s wasn’t my “go to toy” as a kid, so all Batman Movies are amazing to me, I’ve seen them all, but the worst of them all(to me personally) was ALL of the -LEGO Batman Movies-
I’ll ALWAYS pick 1997’s Batman & Robin over -2017’s The LEGO Batman Movie-
2008 The Dark Knight( I was 19yrs old) is the 1st Batman movie that I have experienced in the theatre, on opening week, of this movie, & that was the BEST movie experience ever!
I'm sorry for your losses, man. Hope life gets better for you 🙏
100% agree with, The Batman being #1, still shocked that this film topped my other fav Bat films over the years, this had everything I wanted in a Batman film, with the perfect blend of the comics, and realism this shit was briliant.
Batman 2022. Imagine watching this epic movie, loving every minute only for the very final scene to be filmed in the area where I grew up! Possibly the most special moment in my movie watching history.
I can't believe the hate The Dark Knight Rises gets
For me it's Batman Returns as well. The iconic acting and famous actors along with the Iconic Batman music! To me this is the best Batman movie!
And the Banshees song…
Why is it that every time someone likes an old movie they have to say that it is because of nostalgia?
Batman Returns was my first Batman movie, being born the same year as you. It's still one of my favorites.

6) Batman Begins 2005
7) The Dark Knight Rises 2012
8) Mask of the Phantasm
9) Batman Forever 1995

I didn't think a new Batman movie would ever come close to the Nolan trilogy, this movie is right there with the Dark Knight as the best.

2. The Batman
3. The Dark Knight rises
4. Batman Begins
5. Batman Forever
6. Batman 1989
7. Batman Returns
8. Batman and Robin
9. Batman 1966
10. Justice League
11. Batman vs Superman
Same !
I love how batman v superman is my favorite but it's on the bottom of ur list. I love how movies are so subjective
@@braxtonrasmussen I enjoyed some of the movie and it was a cool theater experience I just didn't like it that much:/ but I think it's great that you really liked it I only watched it once so maybe I would enjoy it more on a rewatch but thank you for not being mean about me not liking it as much you did
@@ajbenton2174 yeah the ultimate edition of it us way better than the theatrical. It makes more sense and flows better.
Would love a villains ranking too!
While I really like The Batman, The Dark Knight will still be my number 1
well that's why it's his list understand the title
@JACQUEZ JOHNSON I'm not saying he's wrong to have The Batman as his number one, I'm just sharing my thoughts
The Batman was good but compared to the dark knight , still light years far away
Me too I’m going to see it again soon!
My ranking of live action Batman:
TDK
The Batman
Batman Begins
TDKR
Synder’s Justice League
Batman V Superman
Batman
Batman Returns
Batman Forever
Batman & Robin
I don’t know what I’m missing with the Batman. I was so excited to see it and I love film noir. Seven and zodiac are some of my favourite movies so this film should have been made for me but I thought it was okay. Doesn’t come close to the dark knight for me.
Exactly how I felt lol.. feels good to hear somebody have the same opinion as me I’ve just been crucified for not saying it’s the epitome of perfection
"The contrarian in me" god I'm so glad I heard you say that just now. Love your content.
Begins is my favorite one, with dark knight in number 2, but the Batman may overtake both of them some day. I need to see it a few more times. Another great list man, thanks for putting all the effort into your videos, always a joy, even when I disagree 100 percent.
It's stolen from SAW tbh
Great list Cody! Right now my top 5 would be the Nolan films, Returns, and The Batman. Would have to figure out where they all fall though. Very tough.
The first 25 minutes of the movie... i already knew The Batman was my #1
Thanks for mentioning the connection between the Riddler in the Batman and the Arkham City game! I picked up on it too and thought this was a cool take on the Riddler.
Awesome list Cody, I agree a ton with your ranking and perspectives. My top 5:
1. The Dark Knight (on the verge of slipping to 2, but for now stills holds the top spot)
2. The Batman (have to see it a few more times but may jump to #1)
3. Batman ‘89
4. Batman Begins
5. Batman Returns
Great list! Batman Returns is my personal favourite Batman film! That was my Batman movie as a kid.
I never realised you and I were the same age!!!
Agreed BB TDK and ‘89 were all superior
Top 3 are Returns, 2022 and Mask of the Phantasm in no particular order 😃
Awesome video Cody! Been loving all the Batman content😁
The Batman gave me everything I wanted in a Batman film 10/10. I think TDK is very different from The Batman, but both are masterpieces
Agree with you on the top spot, my personal list is
The Batman
Dark Night
Batman Begins
Batman returns
Batman
My list
12. Batman forever
11. Batman and robin
10. Batman the movie
9. Dark knight rises
8. Lego batman
7. Zach Snyder's justice league
6. BvS ultimate edition
5. Mask of the phantasm
4. The dark knight
3. Batman begins
2. Batman returns
My ranking:
1. The Dark Knight (10/10)
2. BATMAN 1989 (10/10)
3. The BATMAN 2022 (10/10)
4. Zack Snyder’s justice League (10/10)
5. BATMAN Returns (9/10)
6. BvS: Dawn Of Justice ULTIMATE EDITION (9/10)
7. BATMAN Begins (9/10)
8. The LEGO Batman Movie (8.5/10)
9. The Dark Knight Rises (8/10)
10. BATMAN Forever (5/10)
11. Josstice Wheague (as I call the 2017 version, 0/10)
12. BATMAN & ROBIN (-0/10)
@@dong.corleone that's a great list I actually just uploaded a video of my ranking if you're interested.
That bitter sweet thing u said on The Dark Knight is so true man, i always feel it whenever i rewatch 😔
1. The Batman
2. The Dark Knight (amazing film no doubt, but let's be honest Joker makes the movie so much)
3. Batman Begins
4. Mask of the Phantasm
5. Dark Knight Rises
My list with all these movies-
13. Josstis league
12. Batman and Robin
11. Batman 66 ( I hate Batman and Robin I haven't watch this movie in years and the only reason it's lower than 66 is because I can watch it and see it as a product of it's time)
10. The lego Batman movie
9. Batman Forever
8. Batman Returns
7. Batman vs Superman (Ultimate Edition)
6. The Dark knight rises
5. Batman 89 ( Nostalgic for me)
4. Batman Mask of the phantasm
3. Zack snyders justice league
2. Batman begins/ The Batman (Need to watch The Batman again to decide)
1. The Dark Knight ( My favourite Movie of all time so it's hard to beat)
The top 5 movies are masterpices to me.
My ranking:
1. The Batman (2022) (5/5)
2. The dark knight (5/5)
3. Zack Snyder justice league (5/5)
4. Batman begins (5/5)
5. Batman: mask of the phantasm (5/5)
6. The dark knight rises (5/5)
7. Batman vs Superman ultimate cut (5/5)
8. Batman returns (4.5/5)
9. Batman (1989) (4.5/5)
10. The Lego Batman movie (4/5)
11. Batman (1966) (3.5/5)
12. Batman forever (3.5/5)
13. Batman and robin (2.5/5)
14. Justice league (0.5/5)
Shocked you had Returns above Batman 89. Puts a smile on my face though.
Nobody was more shocked than me.
The batman has the best live action Gotham Imo. Felt a graphic novel brought to life in the best way.
The editing was awesome Cody !!!
I'm pretty easy to please. I honestly like all of these movies, with the exception of Josstice League.
Can't wait fam🦇🎃
Your list is the one I truly agree with.
I liked how raw Batman was in the new film, he still hadn't got a handle on his anger, was an excellent film
My list would be
Dark knight
The Batman
Batman begins
Dark knight rises
Justice League (ZS)
Batman Vs superman( warehouse scene is still amazing)
Batman MOTP
Batman 89
Dark knight returns animated
Batman returns
Great list!!! Dark Knight is my favorite Batman movie but like you never was a fan of the ending
For me this new batman is my favourite batman adaptation thus far....
THANK YOU, Cody!!! Finally someone who gets as annoyed at fans overhyping The Dark Knight like I do. The Dark Knight is a good movie with a GREAT villain. That's it. Anyway, my legit rankings:
1. The Batman
2. ZS JL
3. Batman Begins
4. BvS
5. 89
6. Mask of the Phantasm
7. Lego
8. Returns
That's all I acknowledge
Anyway, long time viewer and usually agree with you spot on. Keep the amazing vids coming!!
