The Initiation Rites mechanic would be PERFECT for Warriors of Chaos in the Warhammer TW titles. Start as a marauder unit, and move up to champion , then chaos warrior, chosen, etc.

I think we will see some of the mechanics in WH3. Saga Games are good playgrounds for CA to test things.

Tips for PENTHESILEA: go FULL CAVALRY asap. You will steamroll opponents, at least with the current settings (not Mythos). A way to counter the problem / boredom of resettlements: don't get stuck in Thracia too long, move to Greece as soon as you can.
Personally, I let my second horde in Anatolia to help the moronic Trojan brothers (AI ofc) and Penthesilea went full cav through Northen Greece / Thessalia (easy preys) to reach Athens.
WARNING: razing Athens is a very important campaign objective, and the AI can screw you over with that, so don't wait too long.
Also, I think Spart forgot to mention that Amazon hordes CANNOT reinforce each other. Each one is on Its own, the only reinforcements are the Blood Oath ones... which sucks in the late game (when u need them ofc) bc they're on foot.
EDIT just ask for more tips in the comments ;)

How do you deal with sieges though? Cavalry are bad in sieges at the best of times, but especially here since in Troy there's no catapults to break down the walls.

@@adriltythorin6702 Autoresolve is massively in your favor. The real cheese: Penthesilea's skills allow her to grind any city garrison in 3-4 turns max, with her reduced siege turns and increased attrition damage. If you don't autoresolve, the enemy will come out (when there's an army+garrison), and they will face your cavalry charge on the field.
My "doomstack" is 8 Heavy Cav w spears in the center, 2 Heavy Cav w axes on the wings (or 6-4) + 4 Furies (light, flanking, causes terror) + 6 javelin cav (AP, scouting, harrassing). Front charge w heavy cav, flank w Furies, javelin cav gets behind the enemy, who's quickly surrounder because slower, unless they have chariots or centaurs. Even then, kill them w your javelins asap, and that's it.
Ajax or Achilles might be a problem (good heavy spears), so avoid them as long as you can. Achilles might even like you for slaughtering his enemies in the North. Don't attack the major Trojans ofc.
Yes, It's very risky, but Penthesilea is a rogue faction. You will be on your own, so use ambush + lightning strike (no enemy reinforcements). If you don't like risks, this campaign is not for you. Play safer with Hippolyta.

@@KnightofGascogne Interesting ideas! I did do a Penny campaign when it was first released but I never considered doing it this way. Something to consider I think!
The old trick of a small army and then put the main army into ambush stance would work best I guess?

Amazons, both factions, are my favourite in the game. They are similar to Warriors of Chaos In Warhammer 3 Total War - that was my favourite too. Their units are awesome and you can boost them a lot. The biggest thing for me Is that all buffs applied to unit (Hephaestus temple during recruitment, Divine Craftsman epic agent) stay when You rank up unit and they stack with different buffs you can apply by horde buildings (temple of Aries, Master smiths) and on top of that there are hero buffs and Royal Decrees. Basically when I create new horde I transfer all units to It and build new army on fully developed horde. Your horde buildings provide enought bonus ranks to Instantly level up units to tier II, and a lot of bonus XP to quickly make them elite max tier units. I ended up with medium infantry (Daughters of Aries), fast - speed 60, charger with 94 armour, 150 melee attack, 143 damage that Causes Terror and with light cav (Furies) 94 armour, 119 speed 145 melee attack, 84 charge bonus, Causes Terror. I had many heroic victories, for example facing 2 full stacks and 15 man +settlement garrison from capital, lost 30-40 women. Penthesilea has easy the strongest faction in the game.
Quick tip for Penthesilea - don't waste hero skill points for skills that gives recruit rank. Horde buildings are enough to give you insta rank up. Unlike In Warhammer, extra ranks don't carry over to ranked up unit, Its always rank 1.
I'm now on turn 105 and still having a blast. Most of Total War campaigns I get bored around turn ~50.
I recommend to play those campaigns on "truth behind the myth" mode because mythical units don't synergize so good with those factions, I don't feel I need them at all.

You have no idea how much this helped me! I like TWS Troy (am I the only one?) but I pretty much suck at all TW games (I play on easy mode) and this helped me so much understanding the mechanics!

I learned that for the administration efficiency is that bonus stacks per army that pick that option. Food for thought.

Good video. I wonder how the mechanics of Cerebus will translate to Penithslea's campaign. Will her horde get an equivalent of the Cerebus building? Guess I will find out soon.

agree with the horde mechanics... atleast in warhammer, chaos, norsca and beastmen had corruption to make it hard to resettle.

Quick question before I actually buy Total war Troy, I've played all of the Total war series and I've always found the AI being insanely trash in terms of conquering e.g in Total war rome 2 and Total war Empire the massive factions do absolutely nothing while you're playing as a different faction. Is this the case with this game?

    • @italianspartacus
      @italianspartacus  2 года назад +2

Not in my opinion! It's the AI from total war warhammer, so they're good at getting pretty big and girthy against you
