@@СергейСнегирь-ы6д … that’s probably why we amateur furniture restorers here in the west (US) have never heard of it. While I was watching the video and saw him put the sandbag on… my jaw dropped! And I thought to myself “why has nobody shown this trick before now?” It’s just pure genius!
Nothing ornate, just elegant simplicity. Lovely save - and as a tall person, I can appreciate wanting a long bed! Some of the antique beds are incredibly short.
I'm not a woodworker myself, but I love your videos! It is great that you take distressed or unwanted pieces and turn them into the centerpiece of your clients' homes. Keep up the good work!

Ten little monkeys jumping on the bed. One fell off and broke his head. Mama called the doctor and the doctor said no more monkeys jumping on the bed. Nine little monkeys jumping on the bed. One fell off and broke the bed. Mama called AT Restoration. ❤
This makes me understand why they bought what I’ve always thought of as ugly furniture. Wasn’t ugly when it was new. Loved the nearly eye level ride through the table saw
It simply amazes and astounds me how you can take a piece of furniture I would have been certain was headed for the dump or to a burn pile and resurrect it to the point that I would be proud to have it in my own house had I the room for it. Beautiful restoration! Again I love watching your videos and look forward to the next one!
I like it as it is. No silly words. No - Houston we have a problem - sentences. No screaming Music. Just great work. And when and where needed an explanation. And since i just like watching the episodes, it doesn't matter to me when some of the explanations don't make any sense to me.
Amen! I cannot stand music in the background, also. The producers never play the kind that I like! Besides all of that and most important, it is horribly distracting!
I found veneered '50s wood furniture to be a pain to work on. Then the '70s rolled around with the faux wood veneer on particle board, and I quickly grew to appreciate '50s furniture. 😂
This restoration turned out beautifully, as all your work does!! The two main things that I have learned from you are- disassemble before starting repairs, and, when gluing, use more clamps!!😁❤️😍
Always impressed with your color matching skills Ahti! A deceptively simple design, but the curved surfaces made it challenging. Loved the “sandbag clamp,” so inventive!
I believe it was Matthias Wandel (ex-Blackberry engineer turned YT maker - but his father was a carpenter) who did some experiments with gluing strength. It turns out, with PVA, the smoother the gluing surfaces the stronger the joint is, even if this is counter-intuitive. Rough surfaces cause the glue layer to be thicker, and it seems PVA glue is strongest when the glue layer is thinnest.
Excellent work! You have great followers that await your next project! When I found your new video after being posted 25 min before, there were x245 likes. Ahti, you're so funny. I am sure there are many people who are so glad they know "the guy who will restore anything"! 💕 Yet another restoration that shows your remarkable talent and skill!
A couple years ago I was looking for wood furniture restoration videos. I watched many and was disappointed with the majority of what I saw. The wood pieces weren't made sound nor were they prepared properly. On almost all the finish showed the lack of care. Finding your channel made me so pleased. I kept thinking, "Yes! That's the way you do it." The items were sound, completely usable and the wood finish glowed as if lit from within. Thank you for the joy your videos bring me.

Thank you for sharing and I truly enjoy watching you do your stuff. Hope that your holidays were great and Happy New Years as well.
Oh Good Grief! I had a bed identical to this one, back in the 1950's. It was quite a shock to see it again and it looks so beautiful restored! ☺ I think one of my favourite parts of watching you work, is painting/rubbing on the Shellac. I can even still remember the smell of shellac! My dearly departed husband was a Carpenter/Joiner Cabinet Maker and I loved watching him work too
That is a rough project! I would have never gave that one the time of day! But you did. Thank you for the new video and I support you! Good work sir! Awesome video as always
A beautiful restoration as all your projects are, simple elegance with refined workmanship 😊 This type of bed brings back so many memories as a child, my great grandmother had a bed exactly like this one. I used to hang blankets on the head board and stretch them out over chairs and hide underneath them and read and make shadow shapes with a flashlight. Wonderful job 👏
If I was in the room I still wouldn't get such a clear, close-up view of your work as I do in your vlogs. Like watching a sports video, I can pause, rewind & see details I missed. A+ lighting/editing etc. Trying to say "great video production as well as fantastic workmanship, Ahti. You never disappoint" 👋Pat- Yukon

Looking at it I wondered why you would bother - have to say that I have changed my mind. Love your workmanship - very precise. (hope that is not the wife's iron!)
When I see a new video from you pop up on my feed, I get so very excited! There is so much beauty and talent in your restorations. And then, I'm reminded that I don't own enough clamps for my own smaller scale projects. LOL
The use of the sandbag to secure the rounded area for glue-up is genius!!!❤

Yes, indeed.
