If anybody should write a Book. Or have one written about them,It's this guy right here. Kevin and the Loo are the best interviewers that the Fire Service ever saw.

Born in NYC never took the FDNY test or civil service exam. In my lifetime I put ten years as a sergeant in a volly Dept and as a paid EMT. I was tough at 18 but don't think I was tough enough for FDNY.

Dom Carino had lots of different plans for certain boxes,330 Hinsdale comes to mind,it was a borderline box with E231 and we drilled and drilled on it, sometimes late into the night, over the top no question, but what an inspiration, and I learned so much, when I became an mpo I remembered how he always sed to think outside the box.I hope he is doing well.

Definitely agree with having the rescue medic assigned, but as long as the training and policy written is clearly spelled out! It must be very well operationally balanced!

Regarding the firefighter that didn't make the grab but if he hadn't put 100% of PPE he may would have been fired for violating policy!

There are a lot of good departments out there. FDNY hasn't cornered the market on firefighting, as good as they are. Boston, New Haven, Providence, Hartford to name a few are great departments.

The problem is for today's firefighters there is no balance when it comes to risks versus outcome! It is a different world in today's fire service and unfortunately it isn't a positive difference :(
