@@ulysses4989 to be fair, with the latest 1UI5.1 update the battery has gotten much better, it's 8pm and I have 43% with about 2h SOT, but battery life seems to scale more with time away from a charger than SOC, so one charge now comfortably lasts a day. Something my old S8, at least on a 5 year old battery wouldn't do, to be honest tho this is probably my last samsung as I'll move over to an iPhone since the feature gap has shrunk so much and it's just a whole other level of refinement
I got the s22 ultra with a great trade in value months ago. So with that pricing, I don’t care much for a pixel phone. The android 13 update smoothed out a lot of Samsung lag which has renewed the experience.
People who buy big phones actually know it’s not one handed friendly anyways. That isn’t an issue that should be addressed in reviews anymore. Sales and volumes proves people love big phones.
You can find it for super cheap on the second hand market, just make sure you ask the right questions and you can see the phone before you buy it as well as verify it by its imei etc etc I bought mine for 650 pounds in September and it was only used for 1 month. I'm sure you can find it cheaper now and definitely after the S23 series drop
Came for the review, got it and a bout of comedy to go with it. Dude you killed me, 2 minutes in and I was already cracking up, Sub and like right away
I was avoiding upgrading my phone to the S22 Ultra mainly because i already love my Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ but just last week the screen broke and now I feel like this is a good time for me to go for the S22 Ultra (though now im tempted to check out the Google pixel )
Broke how it fell? I got the same older one not my main phone but for emulation and it did that when it fell by the car door. I also got a iPhone and google pixel Xl 2016 first pixel that came out. Personally don’t recommend the pixels at all. Hardware is weak compared to Samsung and iPhone and Motorola etc. my first gen Xl broke two phones in a row with the screen easily even with a otter box case which is insane. A member of the household their pixel 6 got green lines on the screen a few months later doubt that’s would happen to a Samsung that likely unless you crack the screen.
I'm down for samsung making a smaller version of the ultra because I love the design, but a smaller one that's lighter would be suitable. However the iPhone pro Max's are indeed noticaebly heavier. When picking the ultra back up it feels light as hell
If you guys are in the exynos zone I recommend skipping this phone, the SOC is just bad, better spend the little bit extra since you are already spending that much, I was planning on keeping my s22U from like 4-5 years, but I will trade it in for an S23U instead and keep that
I have the S21 Ultra and like the S22 Ultra you omit to mention the ONE big thing over the + variant - the SCREEN resolution! You pay the premium for the ultra for the screen res and the 10x Optical Zoom!

So in different circumstances price-wise: here where I live the Samsung s22 ultra goes for around $1000, the Pixel 7 Pro for $999, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max for $1799, the Zenphone 9 goes for $899 and the chineese blowers isn't avaible. Provided this would you agree that the Samsung would be the best smartphone in 2022?
Hey Samsung, do something on your battery life this time around in 2023 people need minimum minimum hard users eight or nine hours open time screen, please for your features
@@VBtoonz Yeah, The s20 fe 5g has been a great phone. I might just get another 12 months out of it. The ultra is to expensive at the min but i so want it
Long term means using the phone for a certain period of time and then reporting how it behaves not just popping the sim into it after a couple months have gone by since it's release
The missus is considering this as her next phone, her real goal though is just to have the best camera available for upcoming concerts, now that the Pixel 7 Pro is out, which do you think would do best in a concert environment? Movement, mix of lighting conditions etc.
Sold my Oneplus 9 Pro and bought an S22 Ultra (Exynos) 256GB on a Black Friday deal for 990 euros. I was unsure about the Exynos due to issues reported when the device was launched but after seeing the improvements after many updates (thanks to @AndroidAddicts tests) I decided to buy it. Performance and battery life have been great as does the camera, couldn't be happier. 👍
The nondescript design is excellent for a flagship. I'd want it to remain relevant coz after spending that much on a phone, I want to use it for its whole natural life.
If you are also aiming at the international audience and even an automatic generator of the subtitles cannot understand you (11:20), you are doing something wrong 🙂 Thanks for the review.
I got an s22 ultra summer of 2022. I cracked the screen october of 2022. I just got it fixed finally 2 weeks ago (multiple huge huge life changes between then and now) and it might as well be an s23 ultra as far as I am concerned. To be fair they replaced the frame, battery, screen and several sensors, just my motherboard and cameras and back glass got swapped, but still. This phone will still be one of the better phones to buy in 5 years, I think. My backup phone is a note 10 plus and it still works fantastically too, and worry every penny today.
Thought I'd get one for Christmas, Pretty good deal to be honest, yes the upfront cost is a lot but at the time samsung were giving £300 cashback if you bought it before Dec 20th which took it from £1000 to £700. I'm happy with that.
Have the Burgundy S22 Ultra and the Pixel 7 Pro. The S22U destroys the Pixep is almost every single aspect imaginable. I mean, I love em both equally, am absolutely gaga over the Pixel's stunning design [which looks all the more gorgeous in Black] and I love the Software experience and all the cool 'Magic' stuff as well. But if I'm asked, which phone beats the other, no doubt its S22U.
I really loved my s22 ultra everything that you throw at it will preform superb considering in my country they released the Snapdragon version not the Exynos thats a win win situation :)
Would’ve been a long term review if you straight up used it for a year and told how the experience has changed over time. Sick of these repackaged reviews just for the sake of uploading a video.
just got the phone today. very curious to see how much better this to my note 9. I traded in the last phone jack and sd card on their phone for this upgrade
I'm in the same boat. My note 9 works fine, except the camera doesn't focus as well as it did. I hate to lose the phone jack because then I have to upgrade the stereo in my truck.
Man do I love my S22 ultra in every aspect but im still looking into getting the S23 Ultra provided I get a good trade in value for it lol. I dont have any complaints with it but I see myself more as an enthusiast who would ideally like to stay on top of the handheld tech game
Wish I knew how you guys were getting such good battery life. Getting 4hrs of screen on time on my S22 ultra is nearly impossible. I take it off the charger at 6 am and by noon, it's around 40-45%...by the time I get home from work at 4 pm, it's down to 25% and the phone says I've got 2 1/2 to 3 hours of screen on time. I'm most like going to iPhone soon because that's unacceptable.
Let me give you a sad fact, iOS is much worse, you have to charge it 2 to 3 times just to get through the day. I have 13 so I suggest u purchase oppo or huawei, I've seen some good reviews for em
@Aurora M.R I know people with the 12 and 13 pro max. They're phones are always outlasting mine. My phone is on 40% while theirs is at 75-80% by lunch time everyday...they're on theirs way more than me too.

@rob malcolm we will see, I suppose. I've been hearing good things about the S23 and I'm keeping an eye on that. But by the time I'm able to upgrade, the s24 and iphone 15 will likely be out. If iphone is really going to start using USB-C ports by then, it will be a tough decision.
Also, I don't play games or watch movies on my phone. I couldn't if I wanted to but I don't. The majority of my phone use consists of internet browsing, social media, and texting. That's it.

Just got one for free. It's very big and heavy, I prefer my original iPhone SE in that respect. But the one bad thing on that iPhone is the camera, there is no ultra wide angle. On the S22 ultra, I see that I can choose 4 different modes (in the Pro settings), really cool! The battery life seems amazing indeed!
I only watched the first two minutes then stopped. I can already tell that he's just doing this to bash the device. Here's an example why. He thumbed down the design when in reality, that is one of the main selling points of the S22 Ultra that users LOVE. That would be like saying the iMessage on the iPhone is no good. This guy should not waste his time with the S22 Ultra. I can already tell that he will have a negative review of the S23 Ultra when it comes out.
Am still sticking to the S22 Ultra because 1. Am not rich enough to upgrade everytime I see something better lol 2. It gets the job done and charging is fast enough to save myself for taking the day 3. you just gotta enjoy the things you have until its actually necessary to upgrade/change
Personally I think the s22 ultra design is not boring. I think it's a really flashy good looking phone. Especially in black. I guess I can understand why some would think it's boring, but to me it has the elegant flashy minimalism to it and feels substantial in the hand.
Perhaps I'm too picky but the biggest issue with this phone is that the haptic feedback just doesn't feel good. They even advertised that they made the switch to an X axis motor or whatever. It just doesn't provide a great feeling for things like typing.
Google phones do not have DEX mode which is essential for me. Si I will easily accept slightly worse camera performance over the DEX mode. And the S-Pen - for me it is equally important...
Hi Chris, great review as always.. More than happy with my Pixel 7pro, it does everything I need and more. The Sammy is a fab phone but far too overspecced and highly priced. Just looking at all the camera modes, there's nothing I'd particularly use... I'm more a point and shoot chap and my 7 Pro gives fantastic results in all types of light. I'm not a gamer so that doesn't bother me either. As above, price compared to the Pixel is 😮!
I bought my s22 "note" ultra 512 in April of 2022. And for some awesome reason my battery has been getting better and better, at the end of the day with moderate use I still have 70% battery life. First few months, at the end of the day it was about 30%.
HOW? is it a SD model, with like 30min sot my S22U goes from like 85% down to 15% in about 9h.. I pretty much charge it once or twice a day, I remember getting some 2 day battery life around may but since then it's just been down hill
I would love another review on the best small phones. I still have my Samsung s10 active and I love it. I would only consider upgrading to another newer android phone this size.

Of course you've done an S22 Ultra review nearly one year later... Thank you once again!
Not the Yor Forger wallpapers 😭
weeeell i cant blame you tho
I freaking love this phone. When you know how to use the customization features of an not only android 13, but Samsung, it's great.
I like the design. Nothing weird and yet eye catching.
Exactly
Fair play, it's certainly understated - I think I'd like it more in brighter colours, although that's probably just me!
@@TechSpurt Agreed! That's why i get the phone in Blue colour. Thanks for the updated review of the S22 ultra. I really enjoyed it!
I had S22 Ultra now since it was released I love it great camera and for doing videos too which I do a lot
Yep, the video capture is great - does a solid job for home movies, RUclips stuff, whatever you need
Hi Chris, please how many hours of screen on time do you get
I got the s22 ultra with a great trade in value months ago.
Mine is coming this week. Upgrading from my beloved Note 10+ 5G. This is a major upgrade I'm looking forward to. The note 10 will be my backup .
*Recently got a phantom black s22 ultra 256gb, Amazon renewed for £349.99!*
Very, very good buy! It is a great phone😊
I'd love one but unfortunately it's way out of my price range...Good review as always
Nice, hit me up I have something special for you 🎉🎉🎁🎁🎁👆👆
You can find it for super cheap on the second hand market, just make sure you ask the right questions and you can see the phone before you buy it as well as verify it by its imei etc etc
I bought mine for 650 pounds in September and it was only used for 1 month. I'm sure you can find it cheaper now and definitely after the S23 series drop
@@MatadorShifter please how many hours of screen on time do you get on your s22
My 5-month-old S22 Ultra is currently on Android 13 with One UI 5.1 and has over 4 days of battery life.
Liar lol
@@mjjones1045 I say the truth.
Order the Samsung recently so am looking forward to trying it out 📱
the background for the phone is respectful, very nice tastes.
I'm down for samsung making a smaller version of the ultra because I love the design, but a smaller one that's lighter would be suitable. However the iPhone pro Max's are indeed noticaebly heavier. When picking the ultra back up it feels light as hell
Buying this as soon as S23 Ultra comes out
What if they are still the same price so a slight difference 🤔🤔🤷🤷
I'm planning on doing the same and ditch my P6P
If you guys are in the exynos zone I recommend skipping this phone, the SOC is just bad, better spend the little bit extra since you are already spending that much, I was planning on keeping my s22U from like 4-5 years, but I will trade it in for an S23U instead and keep that
Love the vids
But that immune damage with a charged elemental at 0:25 got me rolling
@Official_Tech_Spurt496 yeah right
As much as I enjoy the tech stuff, I'm here for the comedy one liners 😂
At this point i dont care all that much at the phones anymore i watch these videos to have a couple of good chuckles

I have the S21 Ultra and like the S22 Ultra you omit to mention the ONE big thing over the + variant - the SCREEN resolution! You pay the premium for the ultra for the screen res and the 10x Optical Zoom!
I never fail to PMSL laughing at each one of this man's reviews - entertainment as well as knowledge. Love it. 😄
It's become an accessibility device for me! I've not noticed any real disadvantages to the phone in my use. Anyway, cheers! 🍻
I've got the s22 ultra. Its absolutely fantastic and a great phone if you don't want to upgrade again for at least 4-5 years
Because of you brother between the whiskey and reviews I bought it since your first review and I've dropped it several times and it's still as good as new.. Happy new year @the techspurt
Should try to give reviews for Exynos version too. Just curious to see how it fared against Snapdragon chipset
I'm still using my s9+ up until now 2023 and still in good condition..
I'll definitely look forward to your s23 reviews. I didn't upgrade to S22U and held onto my S21U (still great). However, will definitely consider an upgrade to S23 Ultra, particularly if the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 suggestions turn out to be true in the UK.
this guy is one of the worst phone reviewers, if you would prefer a more genuine review, pop ever to mrwhosetheboss' or mkbhds youtube channel. If you want to know some leaked and confirmed specifications for the s23 ultra, respond to this comment and I'll let you know about the leaks confirmed so far.
Yeah it's a big upgrade you must do
I got mine today and iam hyped ❤️ and more so since I got mine for $500 from a Friend
If a 1 year old phone isn't good 1 year later then something would be seriously wrong
I still using this model in 2025 even I have X200 Pro. The S22U is the best smartphone for me even I hate battery leaked and hot issues when taking photo or video long time. Thanks for your reveiw.🎉😊
Still rocking the S21 ultra 😎

same here. not worth the upgrade
Been using s22 ultra since march 2022, batt life have degraded possibly because of the charging cycles, but in general it is still a great phone....

Is it really a long term review if you havent used it over a long term? It seems more like a revisit than a long term review. Or perhaps I didn't fully understand what you meant?
Agreed!

Definitely
Hey Samsung, do something on your battery life this time around in 2023 people need minimum minimum hard users eight or nine hours open time screen,
please for your features
Been using mine since July 2022 and I am very happy to this day. Best all around phone in my opinion. Camera , speakers , display are fantastic.

Me too, I'm thinking if upgrading this February... seems nice on the new UI and 13 but I miss the note features that I need.
@@VBtoonz Yeah, The s20 fe 5g has been a great phone. I might just get another 12 months out of it. The ultra is to expensive at the min but i so want it
I upgraded from an iPhone 10 to the S22 Ultra. Whoa, what a headspin!

@@N.K.--- If possible that would be good, but she needs it by mid February, so the s23 range is probably pushing it
Great content as always ✌️
Sold my Oneplus 9 Pro and bought an S22 Ultra (Exynos) 256GB on a Black Friday deal for 990 euros.
I was unsure about the Exynos due to issues reported when the device was launched but after seeing the improvements after many updates (thanks to @AndroidAddicts tests) I decided to buy it.
Performance and battery life have been great as does the camera, couldn't be happier. 👍
Nice 🎉🎉🎉 hit me up 🎁🎁🎁🎁👆👆👆
The nondescript design is excellent for a flagship. I'd want it to remain relevant coz after spending that much on a phone, I want to use it for its whole natural life.
If you are also aiming at the international audience and even an automatic generator of the subtitles cannot understand you (11:20), you are doing something wrong 🙂
Thanks for the review.
If you think that's big would have loved to hear your review of my mate 20x when it released years ago with its lovely 7.2 inch screen

You’re the lookalike of my cousin, albeit a million times funnier! Thanks for the long-term review!
Just wondering if thus was the only phone that you used for a whole year just for this review

Would’ve been a long term review if you straight up used it for a year and told how the experience has changed over time. Sick of these repackaged reviews just for the sake of uploading a video.
I wonder how is a long term review if it sat in his drawer until he pop again his sim in it.
Still using my Note8 but she's fading and I have to upgrade. The S22 Ultra seems to be what I need.

@@terrylafauci791 true but it’s a trade off. That iPhone is a f***** subscription device nightmare I got a 13 it’s useless and it’s only standby time that it wins real use the new snapdragon 8 gen 2 already tested better than a16 and a15 in gaming and screen useage for battery use
That's it.
Have been using it since october 2022. Had an 11 pro max before. What can i say...i just love it. Not throwing stones at apple. They make good tech.
How are you getting 8 hrs of screen on time?
I am hardly getting 3.5 hrs of screen on time with light gaming, youtube, social media usage. Phone is on 1080 p and 120htz. This 3.5 hrs of sot is from day one of usage.
Can you please share the screenshots of sot?
I actually love the new design. Much cleaner than other phones.
Your videos always bring a smile to my face...think it's the descriptions 🤣
Just got one for free. It's very big and heavy, I prefer my original iPhone SE in that respect. But the one bad thing on that iPhone is the camera, there is no ultra wide angle. On the S22 ultra, I see that I can choose 4 different modes (in the Pro settings), really cool! The battery life seems amazing indeed!
iPhone 😂😂😂
SDGen2 will be worth the upgrade for the S23U

I only watched the first two minutes then stopped. I can already tell that he's just doing this to bash the device. Here's an example why. He thumbed down the design when in reality, that is one of the main selling points of the S22 Ultra that users LOVE. That would be like saying the iMessage on the iPhone is no good. This guy should not waste his time with the S22 Ultra. I can already tell that he will have a negative review of the S23 Ultra when it comes out.
Yes, I just bought one for $600 on eBay 5/28/23!
Am still sticking to the S22 Ultra because 1. Am not rich enough to upgrade everytime I see something better lol 2. It gets the job done and charging is fast enough to save myself for taking the day 3. you just gotta enjoy the things you have until its actually necessary to upgrade/change
Bro be happy with what you have i mean there are people who have way worse phones like my self.
I have the A33.
What’s your current daily phone are you using? I love google pixel but I wanna go back to iPhone clearly just for the watch
I like the design, especially cause it seems they are going for the no camera bump design. Hoppe that trend is caught by others.

+1 i use Dex all the time.
Pixel 7 pro is only $300 less with far inferior hardware smh

HOW? is it a SD model, with like 30min sot my S22U goes from like 85% down to 15% in about 9h.. I pretty much charge it once or twice a day, I remember getting some 2 day battery life around may but since then it's just been down hill
