I have the S22 Ultra and am still very much happy with it, next upgrade might be the S24 Ultra or S25 Ultra. Keeping a flagship for 2-3 years has proven to be the way to go for me through the last decade.
Obviously you shouldn’t upgrade from year to year unless you just want to and can afford to, just like I got my iPhone 13 Pro Max in 2021, but skipped the 14. You will not see major upgrades in smartphones from year to year, but maybe every few years. By the way I preordered the s23 Ultra it looks like a great smartphone compared to other manufacturers like Apple or Google 🤔.
I was going to upgrade from the S22 ultra to the S23 ultra until I seen your review. Now I'm going to stay with my S22 ultra as the improvements are minimal and to be honest some of the features seem better with the S22 ultra than the S23 ultra. Thanks Saf, as your review provided an honest outlook and makes sense to me.
Makes no sense to upgrade. I won't. Besides the newer, bigger camera which doesn't seem promising to me given how bad the smaller 108 MP sensor on my S20 Ultra and S22 Ultra look, it has nothing new to spend money on. Same with Apple. My daily is a 14 Pro Max, and unless the new one this year looks and does something different, I'm not upgrading.
I think u should if only u can afford it. Forget the looks. They have upgraded the camera as well as the processor, and now it actually beats the Iphone in terms of camera
I just upgraded from the Note 10+ to the S22 Ultra last August. I am very happy with it. I appreciate how the S23 Ultra is improved, but I am fine to wait for the S24 Ultra or, maybe, the S25 Ultra! Thanks for this video Saf!
@A1Bokeh , I know that question wasn't for me, but I also upgraded from my Note 10 Plus to the S23-Ultra. The biggest upgrade I noted was the 120Hz adaptive refresh rate as opposed to 60 on the Note 10 Plus. Also the camera's are better along with a faster fingerprint sensor. The battery life is better bc the S23-Ultra has a larger battery at 5000 mAh & it last longer. Charging the battery is about the same though. All in all, you can't go wrong by upgrading my brotha & I hope this helps in your decision.
3X lens is better on the S23U - the 200MP is combined into it! For me the 3X was really unpredictable on the S22U. It often came out grainy and fuzzy at random
@@rahsaanjohn-pierre6843 i agree, altho i like good foto as well. but if i were purchasing due to cam; i would opt for pxel 7P . samsung premium lineup has du-du cam quality!
If I still had my S22 Ultra I wouldn't upgrade. But I switched to the flip when the gen 4 came out and have regretted it ever since. Love the form factor of the flip. Fits great in pockets and takes up minimal space in my car. 😂 but I miss the camera so much. Pre ordered the S23 ultra since they wouldn't take my flip4 as trade on the s22 but they would on the s23
I switched from s22 Ultra (Exinos) to s23 Ultra and it was a great decision. It is faster, the battery lasts longer and photo and video quality has been improved (marginally). For me the most important improvements are speed (is immediate), and battery lasts a full day of stress, while on Exinos I needed to charge during the day (on summer stress days..).
Maybe 10 years ago it made sense to upgrade every generation, now it's not worth it. The differences are too subtle, it's more exciting to wait a few gens and have noticeable improvements in features/performance.
I feel like we're kind of reaching the limit of what our smartphones can become other then maybe 4k resolution, faster charging and more storage etc. But feature wise the steps will be very minor
I wasn’t going to upgrade, but the trade in effectively halved the price so I had to consider the alternative of waiting another year, getting significantly less trade in and missing out on a year of having a new (albeit slightly improved) device. Also anyone in the UK has a more compelling reason to upgrade than the US factoring in the chance to ditch Exynos once and for all.
Yea. Will be a great upgrade from my exynos S20 if i end up going that way. The battery life is just so tempting (which i didn't think i'd ever say about a galaxy)!
I can’t talk about your situation. But in my country however, many people don’t trade in, instead they sell their phones on marketplace. And the value is insane. I got friends who sell their one year old iPhone for the same launch price and people buy them! But then again, it probably doesn’t apply to the UK since I’m from a less developed country. So iPhones that cost 1000 US dollars cost almost double here brand new. I got myself the 14 pro and I’m hoping to sell it next year for the same price I bought it from in the US lol
@ch33ky0_6monk3y if you love taking pictures and videos you will see a difference in the resolution. There isn't a huge difference unless you have an eye for photography then you would be able to tell the difference. The biggest difference in the resolution is up close photos during the day and night. I haven't noticed a difference in anything other then the photo resolution though but I am a picture and video person. I got my phone from Amazon (renewed) and have both s22 ultra and s23 ultra both 1 tb (I don't like deleting things lol). If you have phone insurance then having it renewed wouldn't matter they cover it. Or you can get insurance on Amazon asurion as well. I got both so I can test them out as I have 90 days to return which ever or keep them because I got 2 lines anyways. But jusy giving you different POV.
I've had my 22 Ultra for 8 months now. I am in love with the cameras. The zoom stuff has been fantastic for taking photos no other phone can touch. As far as the 23 Ultra goes... i don't see a reason to upgrade.. As stated in the video, upgrading from an older model though I absolutely recommend.
the camera has issues focusing for me imo. and it's grainy when it should be clear. I think when im past 10x zoom I get the best photos! unless i use the pro mode and adjust it
@@d333vyn The long zoom photos are never super clear, but I've taken pictures of hot air balloons, planes, landscapes. While they aren't perfect, no other phones can get that clear of an image at those distances.
@FawadKhan-uy2wc hell no my phone dies in a hr n a half after a full charge that's with me on it constantly but if not on it as much I'd say probably like 5 or 6 hours before completely dead
@@cosmo742 Verizon and other companies are already giving good discounts so I think they make you believe they've given you good money for your trade whilst they have applied other promotions to the deal.
Samsung keeps sending me upgrade notifications to upgrade to the S23 from my S22. I would pick up whatever offers the very best camera function/quality. Video quality is where I live with mine. I have no use for the 8K video. And 4k at 60 fps remained the same here... Thank you, you've saved me time and money :)
I've upgraded from the S22Ultra to the 23Ultra purely down to it being cheaper on contract than the 22 Ultra. No brained to me. The slight upgrades are just a bonus 😆
I am thinking of upgrading from the S10 to the S23 ultra and I believe the S23 ultra is a worthy upgrade. If you upgrade your phone every year or every 2 years, then that small improvement over the 1 or 2 years isn't worth the upgrade.
It looks way different in person imo. The square feel feels so much better. I have the 22 ultra and I'm definitely upgrading. It's like they fixed everything I didn't like...except shutter speed.
I went from the S22 ultra to the S23 ultra. Why did I switch? In Belgium we have the snapdragon processor for the 1st time + the gen 2 now has a better battery life than the S22 Ultra. I am now 30% lost with 2h30 minutes of screen on (mainly via WiFi),Don't forget that I still have to turn off and set up a few things. . I downloaded some apps, took a few pictures, a bit of facebook and the internet. I did not achieve this result with the S22 ultra. That first 10% flew off much faster than with the S23 ultra. The S23 ultra clearly has a better battery life. We have to wait until tonight to know the end result but it looks good. What I still notice; apps install faster and if you take pictures they are faster in your gallery app. The 200MP camera is razor sharp, not the correct color in all photos, it depends from photo to photo, but if you zoom in on that photo you will notice the difference vs using the regular camera. The normal camera was more realistic in color in a few photos I took. I have not been able to thoroughly test the 8K 30fps camera yet, I did a small test recently and it looks good, but I have to upload it to youtube first, but on the S23 ultra the 8K and also the 4K look great . Also when I zoom in it is very good and the sound is also good. You can conclude that there is not a lot of news, but those number of changes make a difference for me, I do not regret my purchase.
I just did upgrade and I can recommend for people who were using Exynos version. 1. Video quality is a way better, very big difference in quality. 2. Battery seems to be also improved 3. Speakers have more bass and sound is more clear 4. Animations are smooth! finally. 5. after taking few photos, there is also improvement visible in dynamic range, sharpness (but not over-sharpness) and in general photos are clear and good looking. Those are my first impressions after using it for few hours. So far seems like Samsung fixed all issues which bothered me in previous generation.
@@actie-reactie no bugs , im really positively surprised. Using it few hours but with focus which were bad in s22 ultra and really glad to see they manage to fix those points i have mentioned. Now im totally satisfied and to be honest happy that samsung did refresh of s22u as i really like this design
If you had to give a percentage on how much better the S23 Ultra sounds compared to the S22 Ultra, what would that be? That would be the only real reason to upgrade for me.
I’m planning to switch from iPhone 11 Pro Max to s23 ultra, I took a look in 14 pro max but didn’t really see an upgrade for iPhones. Time to switch to Samsung 👍👍
I'm finally upgrading from an S10 5G to an S23 Ultra. I absolutely can't wait! Delivery date says 13th February so fingers crossed it arrives on that date 🤞🏾
Im going from a S20+ to a S23 Ultra. Delivery is due on wednesday. Main reasons to upgrade are the camera and my current battery doesnt last that long anymore
Thanks for your video! Samsung Canada has a trade-in pre-order deal right now and they are offering the 512GB version for the 256GB price. I checked my S21 Ultra trade in and I can get the S23 Ultra for about $950 CAD after taxes and shipping which seems like a crazy deal! I'm still gonna wait for your comparison video of the S21/S23 Ultra, but I'm REALLY leaning towards taking advantage of that deal!
Gonna upgrade from my trusted and tried Note 9. I love the S-Pen integration finally in the S line! They understood the assignment and the popularity of the Note
Went from the S22 plus to the S23 ultra. The upgrade is good. The screen of the s23 is much better you no longer have the blue frigging of the side. The cameras are fantastic. My old s22 plus was a european version with exinos so the S23 ultra with qsnapdragon 8 gen 2 feels so much faster. Then another noticeable improvement with the speakers giving a more base and clear sound.
The S23U changes are nice, but not worth the $700 asking price after $500 credit for trading in my S22U. Would have loved to see S23U match ROG phone 6 and RedMagic 8Pro's 6000 mAh battery with 65W charging. 🙏
If you’re from the USA, google fi is offering the best deal right now. $600 off with no trade in for the s23u. You can add a trade in for additional discount but some phones aren’t worth it especially the s22u which is only being given $250ish but if you add that with the $600, you can consider it a $850 tradein, but I would rather sell the s22u myself for $500+. There are ofcourse some terms you need to follow in order to keep this promotion though. It’s more or less a 4 month “contract” which is at least better than 24 months that major carriers usually do.
I'm upgrading from the regular Samsung s20 that came out in 2020. I've always wanted a larger phone with a bigger screen for productivity for RUclips content creation and I'm excited for the S-Pen 😍😍
Well, I noticed camera is different, battery drains much less. However, the storage isn’t what you think. The 512 version was about 60gb taken up out of the box before we downloaded any apps on the device. Samsung has to limit their software next time around.
My S20Fe worked like a champ until I dropped it yesterday 😢. Upgraded to the a refurbished S22 Ultra instead of a S23 or S24 because of price. Thanks for the comparison so I could feel better about my choice
No need to run out and buy a new phone based on these presentation videos. We should keep our flagship phones at least 2 to 3 years. So if you bought the S22 last year then you shouldn't upgrade until maybe the S24 or S25 comes out. Not enough significant changes to be running out every year upgrading a phone.
People comparing the latest phone to last year's phone is getting annoying and boring. I wish someone did a video comparing the phone from 2-3 years ago to the latest phone. Tell me the differences there. Tell me how much more processing power I'm going to get. Tell me the camera differences and what to expect. Tell me new features on the latest phone that didn't exist 2-3 years ago. Then I'll be impressed. Most people don't get a new phone every year, so these these types of videos are useless to them. Also, minute changes don't impress anyone. It's also funny how "They look pretty much exactly the same" is said so much in this video.
@Victor Chitando yes but I was going for the general number of videos that compare s22 and s23. I have an s10+ and I've seen 1 video so far where someone compares it to the s23. I'm not calling him out specifically. Also, he posted that video 4 hours ago and I posted my comment yeaterday...
I actually didn't get my S22 Ultra until October as upgrading my old LG V30 was long overdue. From day 1 I've been extremely happy with S22 Ultra (Snapdragon), and considered waiting for the S23, but after comparing the differences I'm fine with the S22, and don't think I'll need anything new for quite a while, as obviously shows from the milage I had from my last phone, S26 maybe? I will say I really miss the fingerprint reader located on the back of my V30, to me it makes way more sense, and I still hunt for it out of habit when I pick up my S22.
Great to hear you are making that S21 Ultra vs S23 Ultra review. Nice to see how much the hardware and software has matured in two years and personally I don't think most of the people are upgrading their flagship phones yearly.
Nope. I upgrade once every 2 year's now. Going from the S21 Ultra to the S23 Ultra. But I agree with SAF, the 21 Ultra looks soooo much smoother and cleaner. They should have kept that design.
I have a sd8 gen 2 phone and my sd8 gen 1 ultra. Gen 2 battery lasts a long time ! My S22 ultra dies really quickly 😂 but it's okay. I just carry a power bank with me. It gets me through the whole day at work and that's all that matters. If it died on me at work, then I'd get rid of it fast
As a one year long S22U user, I think that for people who put high priority in the camera or play heavy games like genshin, it is a worthy upgrade, but for most people, I think it is just buying the same phone again....As a heavy genshin player, I'm definitely upgrading
At that price point just get a mid tier gaming laptop or pc and play genshin..i usually don't comment on how people choose to spend their money but this is just nonsensical and a complete waste of money + it's a shitty experience playing on your phone *especially* genshin
@@Sheepybish I do have a laptop, but I just can't handle gaming on a laptop or tablet....I would rather use mkney on a better phone to game on and buy a cheaper laptop than buy an expensive laptop and cheaper phone
@@insertnickhere5022 My point was you already have a good phone which makes your example meaningless, if you have a laptop then why don't you use that instead? Invest in a mouse if you don't have one and the experience will be far superior than what it will be on a cramped screen even if you can't max out the graphics, i am trying to stop you from making an illogical decision but well it is your decision at the end of the day so do with it as you wish, its just a waste considering the better alternatives.
Thanks for the great review! I was able to play a little bit with the camera of an S23 Ultra and compare it with my S22 Ultra, and the results were pretty much the same as here - better, but not by much. That was my main "ooh!" from them hyping it up, but it's just not that big an improvement in reality. It doesn't entirely get rid of the annoying curved screen edge, which would have been another factor for me. The battery life improvement is tempting. Would I be willing to trade it for effectively $100 left to pay? Possibly. The more likely $300 left to pay? Nah.
I'm an OG android user. From the Samsung moment with a physical keyboard to the OG HTC hero and OG HTC EVO. I even go back and forth with iPhone when I want to upgrade. Right now I have the s22 ultra for almost a year now. I just realized I haven't experienced any system UI crashes prompt message like I have on android before. Maybe they copied ios when it doesn't even prompt a message of a ui crash when it does crash. I really don't recall my s22 crashing at all. I'd say samsung has come a long way and reliability is in thier favor now
Upgrading from S22U to S23U. Many pics I take with S22U have blown out areas. I'm always needing to manually adjust the pic before shooting and that still isn't guaranteed. I'm more fond of the pixel 7 pro photo results than S22U. Can't wait to get it in 10 days.
@@beautifullife4924 if you watch some reviews on S22U, there are many that say the pic results have overblown areas. Tap to focus doesn't change any of the exposure shown in the view finder. When I take 7 pro and tap to focus it adjusts to the light. S22U just doesn't so I have to turn down the exposure manually. S22U overall isn't a bad camera it's just not for me. I like the exposure to be balanced. 7 pro is a point and shoot. S22U I may need to take 4 pics to get a pic of what my eyes are seeing. Plus there's shutter lag which creates blurry pics. Glad you're happy with your results.
@@tulashagautam5027 that comes down to your personal situation. If the pre order deals are to your liking then get it. My gut tells me in 2 months Samsung will give better trade-in deals. If you go through a carrier you can get an excellent deal. I always buy unlocked phones. This year Samsung is stingy with trade-in prices. I thought about waiting but I only paid a tad more for my s22u then what Samsung is giving me for trade-in.
Here's why I bit the bullet and traded in my s22 Ultra. 1. The trade in value was superb, more than the value of a second hand phone the same age on Ebay 2. Got 15% birthday promo off the RRP so ended up getting a discount more than the vlaue of a brand new s22 Ultra on Amazon at the moment (for my year old one) off. 3. Got the promo so I went from 128 gbs to 512 gbs 12 gb RAM 4. Moved from the dreaded Exynos to Snpadragon (and boy was it a painfully slow hot processor) 5. Better night video quality and battery life- especially cause I travel a lot. Update: After getting and using the S23 Ultra, defo a big difference moving from Exynos to Snapdragon.
Based in the UK, the trade in rate (specific to me) plus having the Snapdragon installed (don't you remember, we screamed blue murder here in Europe for being off-loaded with Exynos chips), makes this a no-brainer.
I'll probably upgrade a mont after the phone drops, my friends like why upgrade if they look the same and just have minor changes, yet they upgraded from the iPhone 13 pro max to the iPhone 14 pro max. Your videos are so awesome and very detailed.
I'm somewhat OCD. I love even numbers. I brought the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, S4, Note 4, Note 8, Note 10, and Note 20 Ultra. I wanted to get the Note 7 because 7 is my lucky number, but it was recalled. Also, I wanted to get the S22 Ultra, but the Note 20 Ultra is still working great. I will just wait until next year and get the S24 Ultra :-)
Thanks Saf! With the S21U comparison, could you compare selfies on night mode? Tbh, based on the selfies you showed, it doesn't feel like the S23U is an upgrade at all... I love the selfies the S21U takes on dim rooms with night mode on (incredibly crisp), so I would really want to know if the S23U's are at least as good! Thanks a lot man!
For me and a lot of people. I am upgrading to the Galaxy s23 ultra because I have the Samsung processor. Upgrading to the Snapdragon generation 2, it's going to be a great choice.
I've the S22 Ultra (512GB) no way I'm gonna upgrade. It's one of the best smartphone I've used in ages, these minor camera upgrades won't bother me either.
So probably coming from the Note 20 Ultra then, I definitely don't have a lot of those features and updates that the S23 Ultra and even S22 Ultra have, I will miss having the last Note but the S Ultras from the 22 and up are basically the same thing as the Notes now.
Well i own both s22 ultra and note 20 ultra, and must say that s22 ultra never really felt like a note to me. Note is note and i am catching my self using my note 20 ultra more than s22
Thanks, I will not be upgrading my s22 ultra... I can't do a trade in for $500 (for a phone I've not used up to a year). So I'll wait for the s24 ultra. Excellent watch 👌!
seriously, no-one is talking about the ridiculous trade-in values in Europe? you get so much more in USA, plus better price, plus earlier sales, plus extras.. wasn't enough to get the frustrating exynos for so many years?
I'm actually not sure what phone would shift me for the s22 ultra now. I'd like Satellite SMS/Calls, walkie talkie feature (for off-grid hiking), usbc plasma lighter, changeable battery, 100x optical, macro to 100x, lighter, dab radio, foldable but with two screens that butt up rather than fold, laser bluetooth keyboard, VR with sunglasses for all day big screen usage, blood pressure monitor...
Great video, super detailed, super helpful. Can't wait to see the S21 ultra comparison since I have that and thinking of upgrading. What do you think also about going from S21 Ultra to S23 plus?
Very minimalistic difference from the S21 Ultra to S23 Ultra speaking from experience. I'm the type of guy who wants the best tech all the time so if your S21 is in good shape I wouldn't recommend upgrading. The big benefit for me was going from Exynos to Snapdragon
If you have S21U I wouldnt go to S23. I am curently holding S21U in my hand and S23U is such a disapointment that I have no words. Snapdragon, wow, really worth spending that money. Complete BS. I will either wait for S24 or ditch Samsung.
So better chip, better ram and storage, better uw and wide camera, 8k recording, better battery life, better bluetooth, better speakers, newer software and so on and you say its not worth the upgrade? How its not?
can you compare s21 and s23. I understand a lot of ultra comparisons take the best features of the lot. But 2 year phone upgrades are a lot of what a lot of people go for.
Just got the S23 Ultra from t-mobile for $400 NO trade in. But you have to get the Magenta Max plan which is $50 since I'm over 55. And I was planning on getting that anyway. And I still have my S22 Ultra that I bought from Samsung a year ago for only $850 with trade in and other discounts along with their ear buds live, and wireless charger. Also the S22 Ultra case can fit on the S23 but it's slightly off, just wanted to see since the size is so close. The 100x zoom is much more usable now, not as shaking as the s22 Ultra.
I have the Note 20 5G and I absolutely love this phone. I want to get the S23 Ultra but the down payment is over $400 with trade-in. Maybe I should wait because the snapdragon sounds like it makes a huge difference in the phone.
one thing to mention, the s22 ultra has astrophotography for a little while, it was part of an update around 2 months ago for the expert raw app, which is a separate download for the s22 ultra
@@aleenachatwin7088 you can find it on the Samsung store available for alot of the newer Samsungs, it's basically a more advanced "pro mode" for the camera that also incorporates a few extra features like astrophotography modes and star tracking.
I'm currently using S10+ ans have been dying for an upgrade as this is at least 4 years since I bought it. Looking at the specs I think its better for me to buy s22 ultra its also half the price!
In my opinion.. Speaking abou functionality, it's not that really worth upgrade to S23 Ultra if you was a Note 20/10 user before. Almost 75% things that S23 Ultra offer still capable in the oldest Note series of Samsung. But if you're new Samsung users and want to feel that immersive experience this phone's offer. It's really worth the money😁😁😁
Having seen tests, I'll say it's even worth upgrading from a S22U if you use your phone a lot for photography & gaming. Better screen on time & if in Europe, the new chip means you're not as laggy and if you game, then you can play games with less heat & less load up times. Camera seems upgraded too. People say its not much of an upgrade which is true, but if you're a power user, then it is a good upgrade. To summarise: -Better chip (especially if coming from exynos) - less lag. Quicker if you render videos etc on your phone. Better screen on time (5 hrs 21 for 3d gaming on S22U compared to 7 hrs 13 on the S23U which is a huge difference) -better camera overall - night shots and videos better for gaming - can play highest modes which the S22U can't for PUBG I believe I saw. Load times reduced on S23U and less heat. Less heat should mean longer lasting battery & phone Better speakers - not as tinny & muffled. Louder & more bass Slightly better screen. Same max nits but different panel which looks a bit better
Trade in in America is pretty great through a carrier. I just pre ordered mine for $199. There was a $1000 trade in credit with at&t, can't beat that. I was just about to trade in for the s22u, but trade in dropped DRASTICALLY like I would only get $100 for my s21+. Glad I waited
Not for me. Camera isn`t my main interest and the S22U cam is good enough. Plus, I don`t care about numbers in useless benchmarks. And for gaming I have a XBox Series. I stay with the S22U until next years phones.
Lol are you serious? They look almost the same in many tests except for 200mp zoomed in significantly. Other than that, the rest of it could just be software update.
I upgraded my Note 10 Plus to the S23-Ultra & of course it was a huge upgrade. So far the S23-Ultra is the best phone I've ever had & I try to get the most out of my phones by upgrading every 2 years or so. My only gripe is that I should've gotten the 512gb version instead of the 256. That means I only have 8gbs of RAM instead of 12gbs, but as of now I can't tell the difference. I know I'll feel the difference as the phone ages & I won't make that mistake again.
Very minimalistic difference from the S21 Ultra to S23 Ultra speaking from experience. I'm the type of guy who wants the best tech all the time so if your S21 is in good shape I wouldn't recommend upgrading. The big benefit for me was going from Exynos to Snapdragon
In other words, if u got a s22 ultra keep it! Save your money, I know I'm keeping mine. There's no drastic difference plus I gotta get my $1200 worth from my s22 ultra since I paid cash. I'm not gonna be throwing away $1200 every year...thanks for the video bud!!
Have to disagree with you, just this once SuperSaf. I would say if you have the s22 Ultra in a smaller storage, but want more it is definitely DEFINITELY worth the upgrade for the better battery life, better camera performance, AND more storage space to have fun with. Especially for the Samsung exclusive (so awesome) 1 Freakin TB!? Trade up, if you have the means, while your phone has a lot of value. It only drops like a boat anchor and drops fast with every new model. Yes the cost of the s23 Ultra will drop as well, but not anywhere near as fast as the trade in value of an old model. EARLIEST you can manage to trade up is always ALWAYS better. Another year later and you'll be lucky to get half the trade in for it that you could have (maybe not even that). By then the web will be flooded with s22 Ultra deals. Like your s22 Ultra and want to enjoy it longer, then that's fine. Just don't be surprised if you get less than peanuts for it later on. That's one area where Apple still seems to dominate (trade in value).
Im upgrading my 21 to the 23 simply because it's basically a free upgrade. The promotion I got at my carrier let me trade my phone in, and get a large credit. So I'll be paying $3/month for 24 months and then the phone is mine. So I'm effectively paying $72 for the latest phone.
Just pre orderer the S23 Ultra. First nice phone ive got in years. Ive never been able to keeo a nice phone unbroken because my work included outside physical work but now ive started my business my work includes me sitting in my desk so im hoping i will keep this one in tact.
Watching from my S22 Ultra!! My phone battery lasts all day even when data is on. There isn't much difference between the S22 and S23. My brother uses the S23, and our battery life is almost the same, lasting a whole day with internet, and even longer when not always on data. They are both nice and perform well. If I ever want to upgrade, I'll wait to see what Samsung has in 2025.
@sabishere945 The S22 Ultra is worth it and still very valid even in 2025. I am replying to this comment with my S22 Ultra, and the phone is a beast. You can go for the S23 Ultra if you have the money, but they are both the same in performance, and both batteries last all day. I barely charge my phone. Samsung didn't add much in the S23; it is just exactly like the S22 Ultra. The length is not noticeable, and the back is exactly the same. Someone won't know you are using the S23 Ultra unless they go into your phone settings to check. So in conclusion, the S22 Ultra and S23 Ultra are both the same phone with very little difference.
I have the S22 Ultra and am still very much happy with it, next upgrade might be the S24 Ultra or S25 Ultra. Keeping a flagship for 2-3 years has proven to be the way to go for me through the last decade.
Yup I said the same thing
Same here.
I wouldn't upgrade either, will cost you too much. But the S23 Ultra is the better phone👍
Having only upgraded from the S8+ to the 22-ultra. I would say holding my S22 ultra for the next 5 years isn't bad at all either.

thank you bro
My daily is a 14 Pro Max, and unless the new one this year looks and does something different, I'm not upgrading.
use it as long as it works even tho u have million dolla
I think u should if only u can afford it. Forget the looks. They have upgraded the camera as well as the processor, and now it actually beats the Iphone in terms of camera

I just upgraded from the Note 10+ to the S22 Ultra last August. I am very happy with it. I appreciate how the S23 Ultra is improved, but I am fine to wait for the S24 Ultra or, maybe, the S25 Ultra! Thanks for this video Saf!
Same here....I almost didn't grab the 22 cuz the 10+ was still moving n grooving. But I must say 22 ultra is a nice upgrade.
I wish to God, I still had a note
How big is the jump difference? Also upgrading from a Note10+ and waiting for my S23 ultra order.
I have a note 10+ now and was thinking the s22 could be nice to have.
What are the biggest pros ?
3X lens proved to be the most useful after owning the S22U for a year.
Samsung should focus on it more in future
3X lens is better on the S23U - the 200MP is combined into it! For me the 3X was really unpredictable on the S22U. It often came out grainy and fuzzy at random

I'm waiting for the s24 that also will be Snapdragon exclusive, since the trade in is soo bad,
I'd say if your current device is meeting all your needs, then stick with it and wait for something that's more than just "slightly improved"
Then I wouldn't get such a good trade in and I wouldn't be able to justify such a big outlay for a flagship.
I upgraded don't make the same mistake

@ch33ky0_6monk3y if you love taking pictures and videos you will see a difference in the resolution.
2. Battery seems to be also improved
3. Speakers have more bass and sound is more clear
4. Animations are smooth! finally.
5. after taking few photos, there is also improvement visible in dynamic range, sharpness (but not over-sharpness) and in general photos are clear and good looking.

I don't even think it's worth upgrading from a s21 ultra

1. The trade in value was superb, more than the value of a second hand phone the same age on Ebay
2. Got 15% birthday promo off the RRP so ended up getting a discount more than the vlaue of a brand new s22 Ultra on Amazon at the moment (for my year old one) off.
3. Got the promo so I went from 128 gbs to 512 gbs 12 gb RAM
4. Moved from the dreaded Exynos to Snpadragon (and boy was it a painfully slow hot processor)
Upgrading from my S10+, the last flagship line before Ultra's were introduced
I'll probably upgrade a mont after the phone drops, my friends like why upgrade if they look the same and just have minor changes, yet they upgraded from the iPhone 13 pro max to the iPhone 14 pro max. Your videos are so awesome and very detailed.
Ahahahaha cause they are jealous lol
I'm somewhat OCD. I love even numbers. I brought the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, S4, Note 4, Note 8, Note 10, and Note 20 Ultra. I wanted to get the Note 7 because 7 is my lucky number, but it was recalled. Also, I wanted to get the S22 Ultra, but the Note 20 Ultra is still working great. I will just wait until next year and get the S24 Ultra :-)
You missed out on the best Note of all Time - The Note 9! :-)
I have my s22 ultra and I also have the iPhone 14 pro max, planning to keep both phones, and this is my first iPhone
When you find yourself using the word ‘also’ frequently when doing a comparison, then there is no major difference
I just ordered my s23 ultra. I also switched carriers and as a result I ended up getting $980 credit for my S9+ .. so I'm happy.
amazing! in Europe they offer you $500 credit for the S22 Ultra.. and this after so many years of bad exynos versions.
For me and a lot of people. I am upgrading to the Galaxy s23 ultra because I have the Samsung processor. Upgrading to the Snapdragon generation 2,
it's going to be a great choice.
exactly, even apple uses since may years snapdragon modems and apple i-phones better than samsung phones with exynos versions
5:37 s23 ultra is better? Bro the vives of the s22 ultra picture is unmatched
I've the S22 Ultra (512GB) no way I'm gonna upgrade. It's one of the best smartphone I've used in ages, these minor camera upgrades won't bother me either.
Thank you Sir you are awesome! Very helpful in my decision making process for a new phone.
Please do a battery drain test video for the 3 models 😊
Thank you for the comparison. I have a S22 Ultra, really happy with it. I did discover, you can insert 2 sims 🤦♀️
Note is note and i am catching my self using my note 20 ultra more than s22
honestly, I watched the entire video but my favorite part was the first 5 sec which was a straight answer! thank you for that!
Thanks, I will not be upgrading my s22 ultra... I can't do a trade in for $500 (for a phone I've not used up to a year).
So I'll wait for the s24 ultra.
Excellent watch 👌!
Same here!
@@Standgedicht if there is still not much improvement in the s24 ultra, I'll wait for s25 ultra.
seriously, no-one is talking about the ridiculous trade-in values in Europe? you get so much more in USA, plus better price, plus earlier sales, plus extras.. wasn't enough to get the frustrating exynos for so many years?
I'm actually not sure what phone would shift me for the s22 ultra now. I'd like Satellite SMS/Calls, walkie talkie feature (for off-grid hiking), usbc plasma lighter, changeable battery, 100x optical, macro to 100x, lighter, dab radio, foldable but with two screens that butt up rather than fold, laser bluetooth keyboard, VR with sunglasses for all day big screen usage, blood pressure monitor...
I'm gonna hold on to my S22U but boy i'm so jealous of the battery life improvement on the S23U !
Go for s22 ultra or s23 ultra
Uprading from S21 to 23 is so unnecessary lol
@@RacoonFighter agree
So better chip, better ram and storage, better uw and wide camera, 8k recording, better battery life, better bluetooth, better speakers, newer software and so on and you say its not worth the upgrade? How its not?
can you compare s21 and s23. I understand a lot of ultra comparisons take the best features of the lot. But 2 year phone upgrades are a lot of what a lot of people go for.
Try 3 yr now
Just got the S23 Ultra from t-mobile for $400 NO trade in.
I’m waiting for the s21u vs s23u comparison. I have the s21u and the s23u doesn’t seem much of an upgrade to me to be honest.
I went from the 21u to the 22u and it was a major difference especially with the extra brightness feature added. The 21u was a bit dim at times
I have the Note 20 5G and I absolutely love this phone. I want to get the S23 Ultra but the down payment is over $400 with trade-in. Maybe I should wait because the snapdragon sounds like it makes a huge difference in the phone.
I'm sticking with my s22U until I can see the 🌚 better..👍
To me, those janky decreased trade-in discount prices are not worth the upgrade at all. I'm so happy and content with my S22 Ultra.
one thing to mention, the s22 ultra has astrophotography for a little while, it was part of an update around 2 months ago for the expert raw app, which is a separate download for the s22 ultra
Expert raw app?
To summarise:
-Better chip (especially if coming from exynos) - less lag. Quicker if you render videos etc on your phone.
Better screen on time (5 hrs 21 for 3d gaming on S22U compared to 7 hrs 13 on the S23U which is a huge difference)
-better camera overall - night shots and videos
better for gaming - can play highest modes which the S22U can't for PUBG I believe I saw. Load times reduced on S23U and less heat. Less heat should mean longer lasting battery & phone
Better speakers - not as tinny & muffled. Louder & more bass
Slightly better screen.
The S23 camera is so much more advanced, that is for me at least a reason to upgrade
eh I wouldn't upgrade unless you're really into that shit because other than cameras nothing has changed
I got the s22 ultra and I don't see the point of the upgrade
@@catboy3471 meanwhile apple cameras looked the same crud for the past 5 years
I upgraded my Note 10 Plus to the S23-Ultra & of course it was a huge upgrade.
Definitely waiting for your S21 ultra to the S23 ultra comparison.
Also do you think most of the benefits will come to the S21 ultra via one ui 5.1?
Very minimalistic difference from the S21 Ultra to S23 Ultra speaking from experience. I'm the type of guy who wants the best tech all the time so if your S21 is in good shape I wouldn't recommend upgrading. The big benefit for me was going from Exynos to Snapdragon
@@ZeqHDx exactly, especially with the horrible trade locking you to a carrier now. If you have the last two phones with SD chips, no need.
@@ZeqHDx Don't forget, the snapdragon 2 for Samsung, ALSO supports RAYTRACING for gaming!!!
Which is mindblowing for a mobile chipset.
✌️
@@tufflucal4037 But are there even games out that have Ray Tracing enabled?
@@ZeqHDx Yes but most are demos.
Good videos real video s23ultra vs s22ultra
Yea I will stay with my s22 ultra until s24 or s25 ultra comes out
I choose not to upgrade to s23 ultra from s22 ultra.
Not while i still got my s22 ultra.
What a load of BS. if Samsung really cared about the environment they would keep expandable storage alive and user replaceable battery
Amen!!!
Just pre orderer the S23 Ultra. First nice phone ive got in years. Ive never been able to keeo a nice phone unbroken because my work included outside physical work but now ive started my business my work includes me sitting in my desk so im hoping i will keep this one in tact.
That beggining skit "and the short answer is no... thank you for watching!"
It definitely earned you a like and a new sub!😂😂😂
😎😂
Watching from my S22 Ultra!! My phone battery lasts all day even when data is on. There isn't much difference between the S22 and S23. My brother uses the S23, and our battery life is almost the same, lasting a whole day with internet, and even longer when not always on data. They are both nice and perform well. If I ever want to upgrade, I'll wait to see what Samsung has in 2025.
Hi I wanna buy an s 22 ultra in 2024 cause it is more buget friendly for me and it look the same as s 23 ultra how does your work in 2024?
