Wrong! There is shutter lag when you take 200mp photos! On my S22 Ultra the lag is 9 seconds. Finally after an year they made a software update where now you have a new Advanced Inteligence Options menu in the camera settings, allowing you to lower the Quality. On 23 you can see the lag in his video, is just around 3 seconds.
Not sure about 22 model but there is no shutter lag on mine, but if I set the shutter to go after finger release it may seem there is a lag. But maybe that's just my phone
Thanks! Well it turnes out that actually it's using Pixel Binning for that and it's not real 200mp. I'm thinking to buy a full frame Panasonic Lumix S9 camera, but I need to see more comparisons.

@@Mardoxx7 The front camera is pretty poor in third-party apps. I guess the Samsung Camera app does a lot of heavy lifting to give you a good image. I have issues connecting to the S-pen first time (for the air gestures, writing doesn't require connection). I always have to put it back and take it out a second time, but I guess this is a software issue that will get fixed. The first-time setup is also very buggy, was stuck in the setup screens loop for hours until it randomly fixed itself, but that type of issues will probably get fixed by the time you get it. Worth it? Not at the release retail price, but I got it with a student discount and an accessory bundle discount and with 0% long-term financing, which, with the current inflation will make this phone a lot cheaper as the time runs.
@lukect bro I need your opinion about the camera. I'm also a s21 ultra user and I pre-ordered this s23 ultra and will get it in couple of days . But the only reason I ordered because thinking the camera would be far better from s21 ultra. Do you think it has a significant change ? What's your experience
@Sriharsha Ng yeah I'm probably gonna return it if the camera not satisfied enough. But they giving 800 for trade in my old phone plus a storage upgrade and free buds 2 if we pre order before 17. That's why i ordered.
Decided on a whim to buy the S23 Ultra. Upgraded from my S10 Plus which still works beautifully 4 years later. The S23 Ultra feels like a wise older sibling to the S10 Plus. Love the performance of both phones.
I'm in the same boat as you, thinking of upgrading to the ultra from the s10+. Might just have to pull the trigger even though I will miss the expandable memory
I just upgraded from the Galaxy Note 20 to the S23 Ultra this week, and I love it. This S23 Ultra is so much faster than my Note 20, and the camera is so much better, but it still feels like my Note 20.
Have u got a delivery date yet? If u got black or green it should come faster. I'm debating if I want to pre-order or wait 1 week till launch. My luck lately pre-order will come the end of February lol.
Im happy for you. Its really the best feeling after u use a phone(actually a tech device) for 4+ years and retire it. I am even bonded to my old calculator xD. I felt it when i switched my iphone 6 to pixel 6 last year. My iphone 6 will be in my personal tech museum cuz of the memories we shared together.
I did too. Gigantic upgrade from Note 8. My note 8 was doing fine until I ran out of space, and a 1/4 of the screen sensor malfunctioned. Otherwise it was keeping up.
I'm currently using the Note9 and just ordered the S23 Ultra, I'm so excited! I don't upgrade my phone very often as you can probably tell so this will be a huge upgrade for me!
Oh great upgrade, enjoy man. I switching from s22 ultra because my screen broke and fixing it cost me at least half of the price of a new one. Hoping it will be worth it anyway.
Great Review! I just wanted to add that, for the s23 series, you can actually reduce/remove the shutter lag if you go into the settings for the camera. You should try it out! I believe you essentially choose that the picture is taken when you click the shutter button instead of when your finger leaves the button, if that makes sense.
Actually, as a common misconception of the shutter lag, it is reducing the frames shot, not shortening the time between pressing the button and taking the photo. The S23, S22, and every other Samsung phone start taking the picture immediately, but it takes time for it to take all of the frames, which is why it feels slow. It's not shutter lag, which many people believe it is.
Marques, a detail to highlight is that with the camera assistant app you can choose to have less shutter lag at the cost of having less quality which I didn't noticed any difference. With that option turned on you can get Iphone lvl shutter lag it's great
I went from S22 Ultra to S23 Ultra and even I noticed the difference in battery and Cameras. The ability to actually have a sharp signature in PDF's is a big thing for me too.
@Santosh Sharma TBH, the S23 Ultra haptics give good feedback, but unfortunately feels identical to the S22 Ultra. Not as strong as the iPhone, however. I usually have it turned all the way up, though, and it feels good in hand.

I really liked this review in particular. You have highlighted the info which was truly being ignored by the other tech reviewers when they were reviewing Galaxy S23 Ultra. Thanks Marques
You mean you don’t like videos like Unbox Therepy, that feel like a giant commercial, by someone who has no clue what they’re talking about? That’s pretty crazy
Honestly, not really, not this time. This was barely a phone review. It was a camera review. And even when it comes to the camera, not a single mention of how those photos look like once shared anywhere on social media. Most people take photos to share them. If he’s gonna spend 90% of the video reviewing the camera, might as well tell us if it’s still terribly compressed once shared…
You guys need to chill. When I said the "quality of the video" I meant the aesthetics , for example @ 0:45 all the things in the frame are not random they were kept there to add value to the shot be it the the black rubik's cube, the speaker, the things that are out of focus, the shadows or the plant for contrast and don't forget the panning to focus on the camera's of the phones when he's talking about the differences between them. I'm a music producer and I've recently started studying video production and color grading to create my own content and to me this is the quality of video production I aspire to achieve. And coming to the phone itself there's nothing much to talk about , it's an incremental upgrade that one should ignore if they already have an s22ultra unless they're a rich, tech enthusiast who must have the latest tech in their pocket.
One huge thing i noticed is that this is the first phone where all my photos and other results are perfectly 1:1 matched to the examples that tech reviews are able to put out. It doesn't feel like you guys got some primo "best of the best" versions, like you have some better QC or something. I love this phone, and the moon photos i have are just.... astonishing
I got fully refunded for my S21 ULTRA within warranty after 23 months of use because the phone retained water under the camera lenses. I was surprised to have been paid back in cash for the full amount. So I went ahead and ordered the S23 Ultra and their Tab A8 on offer and was left with 50e to spare. Best upgrade ever if you ask me 😂
The battery life was the only thing holding me back from switching from Apple. After seeing how good the battery has been on the S23 Ultra I decided to pre-order one
I always love your videos because you get right to the point and explain everything without over-the-top language and gimmicks. I always check your videos before I make any major tech purchases.
@Julio Delgadillo no broh this chip efficiency is better..and don't charge your phone upto 100%...there's a option that you can enable it to charge up to 85 only in Samsung.
Battery life in the S23U has definitely improved greatly over the S22U but I bought the ZeroLemon 10,000 mAh battery case for the Galaxy S23U. Now, the S23U battery never dies. What sucks is now my S23U has complete protection but my pockets aren't big enough for this size battery case. My pockets would need to be deep and wide as my mother's purse for it to fit into.
As we should. Phones are getting so sophisticated nowadays and each brand makes impressive products. I like Samsung's innovations alot especially their camera and customizability. Shame on apple for still slowing down the phone or apps, or whatever they do to make it slower each year. People can say yea but the ultra has a newer processor, but heck, when I got the 12 pro max it was ultra snappy also.

One of the biggest reasons I can’t see myself switching to Android is losing the data and and setup I’ve built up over the years. On a new iPhone I can pretty much copy everything to the new phone, but getting all the media, passwords, contacts moved from iPhone to Android won’t be as straightforward, and will lose my text message history

In Europe we went from the Exynos 2200 or whatever model on the S22U, to the SD 8 Gen2 on the S23U. The battery is substantially better, 100% charge could last me 2 solid days of use. 2:22 that is a significant difference on the single core performance, more than can be explained by the (on paper) clock speed differences alone. Combined with the lower multi core performance and I suspect they did quite a lot of tweaks to the CPU Governors and Schedulers.

A really great idea for a new vid, would be to do a head to head comparison between all the flexibility and features of Nova Launcher and One UI on the NEW S23 Ultra. I am convinced that the experience with the Nova Launcher is much better, but I'd love to see it go head to head with the One UI's newest edition. I tried to stay on the One UI skin when I first got my S23U, but kept running into limitations which made me long for Nova. All the extra gestures, instead of just three, allow me to really use my phone so much more efficiently. And having more choices for app grids on the home screen and app screen was a must, instead of being limited to just a few choices on One UI. Please do a head to head, and let's see if I'm missing something or not. Thanks.
I have nova launcher right now, what are your favorite settings or features about it? I really like the swipe gestures for opening up search or notifications
Samsung has really nailed the ultra line since the s21 release. Had my s23 ultra a couple of days and I'm ending the day on 40-50% after 5+ hours of screen on time, my Exynos s21 ultra was close to dead on 4 hours. Nice refinements all over the phone.
First thing I noticed is MKBHDs support for FC Barcelona 😃 I've had my S23 Ultra 1TB Lime for 4 days now and it's been running great. Not exactly seeing that much SoT from it on a full charge, but it's a lot better than my S22 Ultra.
Awesome review! When it comes to shutter lag problem, it can actually be improved if you go into settings you'll find inside "camera assistant" option a toggle for quick photo capture (this would result in slightly lower quality photos for sure and that's probably why Samsung chose to turn this off by default)
That negates the purpose of having a fast and reliable point and shoot camera, none of the other major OEMs have shutter lags like Samsung does so far, and for us to compromise picture quality just to get a faster shutter is just so sad. They really need to just fine tune their shutter lag into the actual camera algorithm without any compromise and then S23 Ultra will be an undefeatable phone.
@@androguyy Samsung could have taken your advice and decide to choose the “faster image capture in between shots” and we wouldn’t have known about it, but they didn’t. They realized they can push the quality a little bit further with some compromise. The beauty with Samsung’s mobile principle is to give users option if they could. After all they are the one behind the scene designing the phones capabilities.
@@seiji-kun9488 No, their shutter lag delay issue has been apparent for many generations since the S20 series days and has not been addressed further yet. A quick and reliable point-and-shoot camera means we have confidence in taking our phone out to take a moment of shots of my either a pet or any moving objects at that exact time, and this isn't possible with the amount of delays on current Galaxy flagships, as I said other OEMs don't have shutter lag delays as bad as Galaxy flagships just yet with Pixel and iPhones being the best at it. Point is that I'm not doubting their camera quality, they need to have shutter lag free optimization baked into their camera software without making any compromises just like most other OEMs.
@@androguyy We don't know for sure if the others didn't have any compromise, certainly their phones take good photos, but could they have made it better is the question. And I do get your point about "point and shoot". Maybe let's pretend, say that option is enabled by default and we live by what we got from the Samsung's camera. As for me, I preferred I have an option to choose from.
Lost trust in samsung as my s21 ultra got water damaged while i was taking a few pictures underwater. I hardly dipped the phone for a few seconds on the beach for a few shots and the screen started flickering and the phone is now dead 😢
Can you talk about the battery option of "performance profile" where you can set the battery to light? I'm running 1440p adaptive and it feels about the same as my note 20 ultra in 1080p 60. I'd like to get an idea if it will give me that extra boost?
AFAIK, light performance mode draws 60% of the power maintaining 90% of performance. It should give a big boost to the battery. Also you shouldn't notice any performance issues as it's still 90% which is still extremely powerfull and this mode doesn't affect gaming and cameras.
@@implodinghippo I have a note 20 ultra, cant notice the difference at all. You shouldnt be able to notice it, seems like it's placebo on your part because how can you barely notice the difference between a 25" 1080p screen and a 1440p 25" screen but notice it on a 6.8" screen?🤔

What's your experience with cameras and the S-pen? You think it's worth it?
Great Review! I just wanted to add that, for the s23 series, you can actually reduce/remove the shutter lag if you go into the settings for the camera. You should try it out! I believe you essentially choose that the picture is taken when you click the shutter button instead of when your finger leaves the button, if that makes sense.
Not a good option though since you're sacrificing image quality.
@@theMLBfan Exactly.
@@theMLBfan was gonna say this
Actually, as a common misconception of the shutter lag, it is reducing the frames shot, not shortening the time between pressing the button and taking the photo. The S23, S22, and every other Samsung phone start taking the picture immediately, but it takes time for it to take all of the frames, which is why it feels slow. It's not shutter lag, which many people believe it is.
Can someone tell me if it has multi burst shots like the other models? Because if it does , burst shots are quick.
I never thought i would by a Samsung phone but S23 ULTRA is another level watching it on S23 ULTRA
Still using it?
Please do more intros like this. Absolutely amazing 👏
Marques, a detail to highlight is that with the camera assistant app you can choose to have less shutter lag at the cost of having less quality which I didn't noticed any difference. With that option turned on you can get Iphone lvl shutter lag it's great

That’s pretty crazy
The overall quality of this video is amazing. Kudos to the mkbhd team 👏
Do you have something to say about the phone he reviewed or as usual you came here to suck up to MKBHD.
I love this phone, and the moon photos i have are just.... astonishing
The S23 Ultra has this Note9 vibe to me. Yeah the Note9 was an incremental upgrade over Note8, but it upgraded everywhere it mattered.

@@stevenchampion35 same am in a dilemma of s23 plus or ultra. Ultra camera and battery are sooo good. But the size pushes me to the s23plus
@karthickvelushamy Definitely ultra's camera is much better but I'm not a crazy photo person.. also I almost don't use S-pen, so I don't need it. Battery performance is also improved on S23+. I don't think it will disappoint me
Still rocking my note 9 also! Battery is not the best anymore I would love the new ultra especially for the camera but I enjoy being able to use an extra SD card to much to swap
Never watched a video before but your video title grabbed my attention over others and was a great review. I appreciate your overview at the end saying yeah it's not gonna be best in class for every feature but over all it's got everything you need, and I think that matters far more.
Went from note 20 ultra (exynos) to s23 ultra 12gb. The difference is immense and all positive! Especially the battery. Waiting for the dbrand black leather back skin.
Does it compress much while uploading to Instagram ?
Uhh you can just use the s22 skin's from dbrand, but I think they would barely be perfect on it, I don't know maybe try it out and see it if it completely fit
Do you miss the MicroSD card slot?
Mine is coming soon too, upgrading from the note 20 ultra due to the battery and lagging on certain apps. Plus most of my storage was being used by Samsung bloat/apps, so wanted to expand my internal storage and they gave me the free upgrade in storage. Can't wait!
I have the note 20 ultra snapdragon. I still don't know if I should upgrade. But is the battery really that much better?
I went from the Note 9 to the S23 Ultra - and even when I notice a jump in performance, I kind of miss my Note 9 at times - can not deny that the Note 9 might have been THE first real Ultra phone lol.
What parts do you miss
@@gregoryg6999probably the LED notification & fingerprint scanner on the back
I love my note 9 I have a iPhone 12 Pro and idk what happened maybe I snapped out of brainwashing but I miss galaxy…I think after the release of the iPhone 15 I realized I was dooped, the phones 12 and boring as fuck! I miss my stylus, I realized I only enjoy one thing on iPhone and that’s FaceTime, but I don’t talk to nobody but my daughter and SOMETIMES family
I understand.
Had the Note 10+ and I miss the slim feel of it as compared to the S23.
Didn't expect this to be surprisingly good. Time to upgrade finally!
Umm no

Marques saw the absolute whining and crying of android fanboys in the comment section of his short impressions video of the S23U, that he had to bullshit the hype up to not get absolutely destroyed in the comments lmao.
It’s literally the same damn phone. He just didn’t want to hurt Samsung or their fanboy’s feelings.
Anybody with a brain can see this. Meanwhile, MKBHD just rips Apple a new one about the same things lmao. 😴
Great review, but you forgot to mention that pro photo and pro video mode now work with the front facing camera. So you now can adjust the white balance, shutter speed and ISO of the front facing camera, where you couldn't before in any of the previous years' models. Also, the speakers have improved sound quality from last year, as other reviewers noted.
Yeah, he should've mentioned speakers
I just order one. I expect to see a Big Jump on user experience/performance upgrading from S20FE to S23Ultra. Very nice review! Keep up the good job!
I have the S20 FE and can't decide between just upgrading to the S22 for a few £ more than I'm paying at the moment, or making the jump to 23 Ultra at £20/25 more than I'm currently paying.. 🤔 x.x

Thanks.
Goodlock on the Samsung store really opens up oneUI
@@L1Z1Oit's ok, but I still prefer Nova, it runs beautifully on the S23 Ultra
I have nova launcher right now, what are your favorite settings or features about it? I really like the swipe gestures for opening up search or notifications
I met Marques once in a street, I said hello and then his eyes turned red and he tore both of my legs off while screaming in
Gaelic. Great guy!
Samsung has really nailed the ultra line since the s21 release. Had my s23 ultra a couple of days and I'm ending the day on 40-50% after 5+ hours of screen on time, my Exynos s21 ultra was close to dead on 4 hours. Nice refinements all over the phone.
1:05 Tech youtubers when apple uses the same design for 7 billion years 🥰😍😙😫 vs when samsung does it for the first time😰😤😨😓
I ordered one..awaiting its arrival...anticipation...can't wait to get mine..
For me not having to endure Exynos is worth it alone. Also those squared off sides make a huge difference to the in hand feel for me. 👍
For real! Upgrading from my S21 Ultra (Exynos) and I feel like this is a proper upgrade in terms of overall performance and cameras
The corners aren't squared off though, the S23 and S23+ are way better in this regard
@Mr NixxxoN maybe so but this is still a big step in the right direction for the Ultra imho 👍
Is that a Barca shirt at 8:27, Marcus?😍

Shutter lag can be fixed with good lock camera add-on
First thing I noticed is MKBHDs support for FC Barcelona 😃
I've had my S23 Ultra 1TB Lime for 4 days now and it's been running great.
@Darkfarfetch How?
Great review! Appreciate the way you deliver all the relevant details in a way that feels relaxed and easy to watch.
1440p sucks on a screen that tiny, just use 1080p adaptive refresh rate, will get way more battery life as well!
@@Aaronxxi on the note and this phone, when I toggle between, I can notice the difference. So I would like to use it, if the impact is minimal.
At 3:39 the graphic shows that the phone has been put 4 times at the charge. In this case 8 hours on screen are not surprising.
