It is neither showy nor flashy, and evinces an unaccustomed innocence, almost a naiveté that paradoxically takes us deeper into the enigmatic nature of the character. If Carlo Maria Giulini had been a soprano, this is undoubtedly what he would have sounded like. Like Callas, de los Angeles' art transcends mere vocalism and sets before us a three-dimensional yet mysterious woman, a strange riddle that will still not be solved even after the opera has ended.

I only heard her once. At 72. She sang art songs and leider. At the end she blew the doors off with Carmen. She exited the stage giggling, as if to say, that surprised you didn’t it.
This music and Victoria's singing is like a calm ocean... The tranquility and of her singing reminds me of waves forming and breaking silently.. The elegant grace of this performance IMO is much more moving than singers who scream on stage to seem tragic..
One of the greatest voices of history. She is way more special and complete than Caballe. For a full lyric soprano she is perfection. As a matter of fact her voice reminds me A LOT of Eleanor Steber!

Έχεις δίκιο, αλλά το κοινό συνήθισε πια να αποθεώνει ψευδοφωνές. Συνήθισε να αρκείται στο μέτριο έως και κακό. Δεν υπάρχουν οι "μεγάλες" πια φωνές, για να δημιουργούν απαιτήσεις, να σηκώνουν τον πήχυ ψηλά.
A te piace questo duetto Lohengrin0?? A parte il fatto che cantano in lingua francese e di conseguenza non conoscendo il testo navigo in acque burrascose.... però in onor del vero non riesco a capire bene nemmeno la parte musicale... forse dirò un' eresia.. non mi prende tantissimo.. trovo il tutto un pochino monotono, al di là degli interpreti che apprezzo molto e sento lo slancio reciproco nello stesso duetto!! Caro Lohengrin0 tu mi scuserai se ho avuto l' ardire di criticare senz'altro un capolavoro.. Che però ( intendo questo brano sia ben chiaro) che mi ha lasciato così.. così.. certamente non mi ha fatto esaltare il cuore di vibrazione!!! Le tre prime volte che ho ascoltato Pelleas, mi sono presto addormentato. Pero, piu l'alscoltavo, piu mi sembrava affascinante quest'opera lirica... E, poi, con un po di perseveranza, Pelleas è diventato uno delle mie preferite. Quando sei colpito, non puoi piu tornare indietro di questo strordinario capolavoro.. pero puo prendere un po' di tempo sicuro !

Such a hauting music... It's inside you and you can't take it of.. Definitely one of my favorite opera. Even if we have a wonderful singing by De los Angeles, I guess my ear is just used to Schwarzkopf tone... Wonderful anyway.
