- Madama Butterfly. Giacomo Puccini.
Bimba dagli occhi pieni di malia.
Vogliatemi bene, un bene piccolino.
Victoria de los Ángeles, Madama Butterfly.
Giuseppe di Stefano, Pinkerton.
Orchestra del Teatro dell´Opera di Roma.
Dir. Gianandrea Gavazzeni.
recorded in 1954
And this love duet! Both singers, as is so rarely the case, are reaching a gloriously triumphant-sounding high C. I could never have imagined 50 years ago, when I first heard this most fulfilling depiction of two romantic lovers on their way to such a satisfying conclusion of their desire, That I could once more be brought to tears on hearing this lovely journey, Still here I am with a lump in my throat and eyes a wet as if it were all real, ...And it is......

As much as I love other casts of Butterfly, this is my ideal right here. Victoria and Pippo together. Just beautiful.
When Pippo starts to sing I can always see his face !!!
Me too!
This was an extraordinarily beautiful rendition of the Butterfly love duet.
Fantastic cast, De Los Angeles, Di Stefano, Canali, and Gobbi.
@@frankmaiorana66 This recording, made in 1954, catches de los Angelos very near the end of her exquisite prime. When she recorded Butterfly just a few years later with Bjoerling as Pinkerton, unfortunately, her voice was noticeably smaller, thinner, and altogether more effortful in sound. If you're a fan of de los Angelos, this is definitely the performance to get. A charming and entirely fulfilling Butterfly.
che bello!
from the superlative complete recording of "...Butterfly" Made in 1954 it remains to my mind the greatest complete recording available...
OK. But where do you put the von Karajan Falstaff and the Toscanini Otello? Many consider the latter the greatest opera recording of all time. But I ADORE de los Angeles and this IS one of the best.
...and the climactic high C that ends the love duet is truly thrilling, as it ought to be but so rarely is...
@@davidjohnson9796 I only meant to say that this is the best complete recording of Butterfly. I'm in no position to opine on the best recording of any and all operas.
@@photo161 I understand, Have you heard her live recording of this opera?
@@davidjohnson9796@davidjohnson9796 You are clearly a deep feeling well, informed opera lover, my Bro..Thank you for pointing out these other essential recordings. I was only referring to Butterfly
De los Angeles sublime!
wonderful DI STEFANO!

sicuramente sta ricevendo lassù i complimenti di Puccini,Bellini, verdi Bizet etc,etc
Dio esiste: si chiama Pippo Di Stefano.
