True sostenuto singing is almost a lost art. She sings with such freedom and simplicity. Both singers are wonderful. Thank you so much for continuing to share these treasures with us.
From the very first note of her voice we can realise that we are going to have a delightful pristine rendition… clarity, power when needed, and overall an immensely beautiful timber!
Probably the greatest lyric soprano ever. I also love Bidu Sayao but Victoria has the edge. Her rendition of the Jewel Song, One fine day, and They call me Mimi leaves me floating on cloud nine!
My first exposure to this aria was by De los Ángeles. Effective in several languages, she consistently delivered, humble, admired and respected by her peers. Brava, Victoria.
The old singers in the 20’s 30’s 40’s (and surely before..) had such clarity and simplicity in their voices and yet they sung all the words on the melodic line! I found also Ponselle to have the same effect on my ears.. somehow it feels and easy simply straight forward singing method.. until you listen to the same stuff sung these days and your ears hurt, it’s like these women of the past just sung and did it beautifully and easy and SIMPLE and the ones from now can’t pronounce words correctly all is laboured, all is difficult all is.. bleah.. why?! 😰😓
it wasnt a method it was the immense talent of the vocal cords allowing them to sing so easily and freely... although I never really loved Ponselle's vocal product cause I always found it full of amateurisms, the instrument itself was miraculous... if she werent such a lazy artist she could have done so much better... Victoria had everything in her throat... she chose the simple way.... total Respect for that choice ruclips.net/video/5Tm8SXdYXiQ/видео.html
@@LohengrinO If I am not mistaken, Ponselle has never sung cocloratura, has she? Besides, it's a question with her high notes. Well, she was a great dramatic soprano, but somewhat overrated by her admirers.
I only saw her live one, and she was 71. She sang very softly for the whole concert. Then a Carmen encore she let rip, and although flawed, we heard what her live voice would have been in its prime. A very fine memory. 🙏🏼👋

indeed omg she was the Queen of Flawless simplicity
You need only one word to describe De Los Angeles' singing: perfection.
De Los Angles not only had a remarkable and sublime voice, but she was an outstanding musician.
From the very first note of her voice we can realise that we are going to have a delightful pristine rendition… clarity, power when needed, and overall an immensely beautiful timber!
One of my favorite sopranos. Such a pure and beautiful sound.
Angelic my favorite singer.
Maria Callas was a great admirer of Victoria. Only a great artist can appreciate the greatness of another artist.
They had voices then. Beautiful!!

Her voice is sublime, indeed. She and Mirella Freni have a beautiful sweetness that captivates my heart.
She had a voice so clear and precise!! I adore her recordings with Jussy Bjorling!
She id so sublime and glorious! The Beecham Bohème with her and Jussi is Absofreakinglutely Amazing
She remains one of my most favorite singers. She was the first soprano I ever saw in Traviata at the Met. Viva de Los Angeles!
My first exposure to this aria was by De los Ángeles. Effective in several languages, she consistently delivered, humble, admired and respected by her peers. Brava, Victoria.
Another angel voice!
I will always remember her singing LA Paloma in one of her final tours to Auckland, New Zealand....too beautiful.
In addition to the beauty of her voice, legate and phrasing she has a tender lazer beam accuracy in the high notes. Simply a pleasure to listen to.
indeed soft laser beam
Une très grandes soprano de son époque
Just lovely thankyou
de los Angeles sempre come un giglio (un poco edulcorato).Belissimo Campora con il diminuendo finale! grazie, Lohengin O !
.... Really beautiful!!! Fascinating voice.. Thank you dear Lohengrin0!!! 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹Elsa
indeed gorgeous voice, gorgeous... no wonder Maria had called her a Rose

¿¿¿POCO RECONOCIDA???
Sin ninguna duda.
@@davidmolina7543 Afortunadamente, no en mi círculo de amigos.

Is there any singer more aptly named?
indeed Angelic
