so which one is your favorite from the Amelia Boccaneegras I have posted? Kiri, Renee or Victoria? this is Gorgeous music and it is heavens when sung by Gorgeous voices
Lohengrin O 1- VICTORIA, because she is ALIVE in the aria. 2- RENEE- Because I feel her heat in it. 3- KIRI- Because I....al...way...s...fall...aslee...zzzz
Her iconic and lovable middle voice. Meltingly velvety and mellow. And the way she enunciates every musical passages she sings! Indeed her voice I liken as if eating the very finest, and exotic marshmallows and cherries. Her voice just had that incredibly lovable je ne sais quoi that makes one's ears melt. Oh, have you heard her studio Carmen? She does a brilliant job, more than one could ask for, and dare I say, that she actually makes a finer Carmen than Callas.
In all my reading about of dLa I don't recall that she ever sang the role on stage. No matter she is exquisite and the cast of the EMI recording is superb except for the tenor who is grossly miscast--I saw him as Fenton! But the rest of the cast is sheer perfection and deLA is utterly flawless in her Maria Grimaldi and the father daughter duet withe great Gobbi is surely one of the true recordiings of the century.
Her Voice is ideal for this role which requires seamless legato, gorgeous passaggio and very strong chest register without requiring very high notes which she most certainly had but didnt want to use often
It's hard to fathom why Spanish voices have been so unbelievably beautiful in opera... but let's be thankful regardless. This is gorgeous singing, full of legato and musicality.
Spanish people are beautiful in general, in and out... as all they have their weak / mean spots but in general they are kind hearted and gorgeous looking and that reflects to their Voices.. and for a relatively not huge country, they gave the 20th century too many No1s... Montse, Victoria, Teresa, Jose, Placido... all No1s
Also Aragall, Juan Pons... Catalunya alone produced half of them. I think it has also to do with flamenco singing tradition, which requires control and projection. But I might be extrapolating.
This instrument is so very nuch superior than Caballe. This is a very ringing soprano voice with a rather impressive range, beautiful musicality and tremendous amount control. She even possesses good squillo without being a big voiced soprano.
BRAVO!!!BRAVISSIMO!!!
VIVA!!!
VICTORIA,
Your voice is indeed "Of the Angels". FANTASTICA.

All these exceptional vocal fragments...i decided to collect them and make an anthology of beautiful singing...

but no ambition :D she chose to live an easier, simpler life.. she would have made a formidable Norma
And to deal with an over ambitious Caballe singing roles like Gioconda, Norma and Armida. My goodness!
Creo que no son comparables. Décadas distintas y distintos roles.
Dos diosas de la ópera
