    I have used a tool like this before. Once you take the old valve out you know you are committed and have to carefully put the new one in and don’t relax until you feel the threads catch and the valve tighten up.

    A+ video! This is my first time seeing your videos and I subbed. I've done a lot of wrench turning but never had to change a schrader valve. I like how you trouble shooted the process in the video. There are so many videos that jump cut to the processes that work instead of showing what could be going wrong.

    Great video, thanks! After having a pro replace leaking schraeders as an add-on repair for what seemed like I low price, I asked how they did it without evacuating the system. The price made it obvious that they didn't have to, or that they did nothing but the magic valve healing dance. When I asked the tech how they did it he said, "We have special, very expensive machine". Don't you love the auto business stroke-fest? It's why I work on my own cars whenever possible. I think I'll order up one of those "special, very expensive machines". Cheers.

    Thank you! I did some work on my car yesterday, and I thought I would just quickly check my valves in my AC while I was under the hood. Both are leaking! But I didn't want to pay someone to recover my coolant, replace the valves, and recharge the system as that would cost way more than I would be willing just to replace a 4 cent part. This is exactly what I need to get, and I love that you showed not only how to use it, but how not to and why (overtightening is bad because...)

    My low pressure valve was leaking after using one of those AC recharge cans. This tool totally works, just replaced my low pressure port valve this morning in about 10 minutes! Amazon shipped me the tool in 1 day and I had it fixed the next day. However, I did have to mess around with trying to "grab" the valve core again after unscrewing it. A bit scary, but it was just floating around down there because it fell off the end of the tool. I was able to get it after a few minutes of fishing.
    Thanks for the video and tool recomendation!

      @@AxlesGarage This might not work on all cars. I have a 1999 Cadillac (R134a system). The schraeder valve is not directly exposed to the open port. There is "dome" over the valve on both the low and high pressure ports. I don't think I can attach a photo otherwise I would show you the problem. Looking at my 2015 Mini Cooper the valve is directly exposed and the tool would work. My 2003 GMC van is not here at the moment but I will check and see if it has the same problem.

    I have the same tool and it worked ok too, it's usually the high side that ends up leaking on GM's. Tech tip 1: You're best off to not even hook up the gauge to the high side unless you absolutely have too or is good chance it will start to leak, also you should just replace both high and low side schrader valves every time the system is empty, why take any chances of a leak, right? Tech tip 2: I just switch all my vehicles over to enviro safe r134a replacement refrigerant that way you don't have to f**k around trying to recover it to do repairs, it's only 20 bucks or so to refill it, so it's just a lot easier to just let it vent out, vacuum the system out and refill it, I think anyway.

      Beware that the "Envirosafe" is flammable, it is just propane. The old car AC systems are not designed to be safe for flammable gas.

    • @paulf3067
      @paulf3067 Год назад

      @@mrfrenzy. Yeah the stuff in newer vehicles that replaced R134a is flammable too and they never changed a thing, same lines compressor, ect. So is the gas going though your paper thin injector lines. Been using it for 10 years now in so many vehicles, I won't lose any sleep over it.

    • @mrfrenzy.
      @mrfrenzy. Год назад

      @@paulf3067 the newer vehicles have a stronger evaporator that is less likely to leak inside the cabin, also they use R1234yf which is much harder to ignite then regular propane - it will not burn unless it touches an open flame.
