how have I never seen someone wrap their desk before? My auto-body shop buddy is gonna lose it. Sic setup my only suggestion is for the pre-amp check out the Elgato wave unless you need the second mic inputs for a guest. I use the Focusrite Scarlett currently in my all black set-up that's how I noticed 😅
Haha, it was a wild idea, but my buddy confirmed it should be doable and it should last a while. Best thing is I can always redo it with new vinyl. Oh, it's a focusrite, but it's a Vocastor Two, so it has an input for a second mic. But I'll check out the elgato as well if it comes in black, which is preferred.
It was about $4k. Some things I already had of course, like my computer, chair, some accessories like the mouse and keyboard. And in the video I call out anything a brand sent me to check out. If you count some of the filming tools I purchased, like the hanging overhead light, Maybe closer to $5k-$6k
Oh yeah, I have to stay on top of dusting. It's like having a black car, lol. I'm going to get an air filter for the space and see if it helps reduce it.
Sure thing. I added the link to the description. But if you search for "5/16" x 48" x 96" Natural Oak Decorative Slat Wall Panel" on their site, you can find it and check to see if they have them at the store near you. They are by the lumber section.
Oh yeah, I didn't sand them enough so the paint is more delicate on them. So good point! Sand them to make them last longer. I'll have to repaint them in the future if I',m not careful. I'll bring up that point in the full tour of the setup.
No problem. The paint was a dark gray. The brand is Glidden and I got it at Home Depot. The color is called "Knight's Armor" and the finish I used was Satin.
He is! I get your point of view, but the nice thing is I have the option to remove the wrap whenever I want, resand, and stain it or leave it as is. My previous desk was already stained butcher block, so wanted to try something new.

Do you perhaps have a Ryzen 7 5800X, which is part of the Vermeer generation? Rembrandt CPUs are 6000 series and consist exclusively of laptop chips, which are suffixed with H, HS, and U rather than X. It would be interesting if it turned out to be an engineering sample. Cheers! I'm going to do it for sure and maybe make a video entry for it. For the left side of the room? I'm thinking another smaller setup that's walnut wood and dark as well. I counter you with...why not? All jokes aside, it was the aesthetic I wanted to go for and the best part is the vinyl wrap doesn't damage it. So I could remove it whenever I want and even re-sand and stain it too. Plus, my first desk setup was already a lot of wood tones.
Thanks for the info! I'll keep you posted on how it holds up and if develops anything like that, i'll have to replace it I guess. Do you have a good article to look into that explains this?
If he didn't have a mold problem with the paneling is there a danger of it happening with drywall? I'd assume the basement is sufficiently 'dry' if it was previously finished and he hasn't had any issues.
@Ideal-Setup Not sure when your house was built, but I know that newer homes typically have some sort of foundation wrap to keep any moisture out. And if you have a sump pump, you probably have perimeter drains. The foundation is built with the expectation the basement will be finished. Older homes don't have this, but with proper water management like grading and drains, moisture is much less of a concern. I'm by no means an expert on this stuff, but I have researched quite a bit for my own purposes.
For those wall panels? Yeah. I'll have to make a video on them since the fancy ones are like $200 or more usually. Although the quality is lower though, that's for sure. But they look good enough!
he really spent 300 dollars on a nice butcher block desk, just to cover it in a carbon fiber textured wrap. ikea sells particle board desks that are just as easy to wrap
Great point, but they are extremely light and warp easier than butcher block over time, and they didn't have the size I wanted. Maybe next time I can try what you're suggesting if I can get one at 12 ft. Plus...I wanted the option to reveal the wood in the future and not have to redo the desk.

But it did take him that long lol. I maybe waited a couple of days before continuing though to make sure it was perfectly dry and had to clean off the dust.
Good question! That's because I'm putting away funds to build a new PC and I love my macbook pro for what I do currently. I'm thinking I want to make it all black to match the setup and hang it under the desk to the right of the monitor.

@@Ideal-Setup I know i know lol. I promise I wasn’t trying to come off rude! I just love natural wood patterns on desks. But still an amazing setup! hope you’ve been able to get use out of it!
@@kevvchann825 I didn't take it that way at all! But the next setup in the studio will bring back some wood tones, so I'll get the best of both worlds :)
@ looking forward to see what you do! I always look for inspiration through others setups
how have I never seen someone wrap their desk before?
How much was the budget?
It was about $4k. Some things I already had of course, like my computer, chair, some accessories like the mouse and keyboard. And in the video I call out anything a brand sent me to check out. If you count some of the filming tools I purchased, like the hanging overhead light, Maybe closer to $5k-$6k
tell your dad to remove this habit 6:45 unless he is ok losing some fingers
I'll let him know!
Nice setup! What's the footrest underneath the desk?
Thanks! It's called the Dagotto and you can get it at Ikea for $30.
Place looks great... 3 coats of primer is a wild move though hahaha
Trust me, my neck thought it was a wild move too. I think I was a little OCD with it looking a certain way, lol.
i love black setups had one myself for some time bud the visible dust whas getting to me
Oh yeah, I have to stay on top of dusting. It's like having a black car, lol. I'm going to get an air filter for the space and see if it helps reduce it.
On 0:01 я думал что это кадры из игры FALLOUT 4 ) Котсворд, выходи!)
lol I could see that.
Can I get the link to the slat wall panels from you please? I'd appreciate it.
Sure thing. I added the link to the description. But if you search for "5/16" x 48" x 96" Natural Oak Decorative Slat Wall Panel" on their site, you can find it and check to see if they have them at the store near you. They are by the lumber section.
Did you need to sand the slats before painting them?
Oh yeah, I didn't sand them enough so the paint is more delicate on them. So good point! Sand them to make them last longer. I'll have to repaint them in the future if I',m not careful.
I'll bring up that point in the full tour of the setup.
amazing 😍

Awesome setup!

What was the actual paint color (i know it was black) but exact paint name and finish. Thanks
No problem. The paint was a dark gray.
The brand is Glidden and I got it at Home Depot. The color is called "Knight's Armor" and the finish I used was Satin.
Your Dad was awesome. Everything was great but personally I would not have covered that beautiful oak with carbon fiber wrap.
He is! I get your point of view, but the nice thing is I have the option to remove the wrap whenever I want, resand, and stain it or leave it as is. My previous desk was already stained butcher block, so wanted to try something new.
Good points! Love your setup would definitely reference this

Great video! Liked and subscribed 👍 Not sure if it's just me or if your voice seems a bit muffled; I had to increase the volume to be able to better hear you, but I enjoyed the video and could still hear you until the very end. Thanks for posting!
Thanks! Good to know, I was afraid of making it too loud and checked the audio through my laptop to try and make sure most people would hear it well, but guess I didn't get it right.
What did you listen to it with? Just so I can try and listen to it that way next time and confirm it sounds decent.
@@Ideal-Setup I had my laptop connected to a TV using an HDMI cable while watching your video and used the TV for audio output as well.
@@ahmedelboghdadi5328 Gotcha. Did you use external speakers or straight out of the tv speakers? If I don't use my sound bar for my tv, I have to turn it up loud for voices. My tv's own speakers suck.
@@Ideal-Setup I used the TV speakers, and while they do suck as well, I could still hear your voice a bit muffled compared to previous and later videos I watched using the same TV speakers.
@@ahmedelboghdadi5328 Good to know! It's tough to get them to sound right on all devices and I'm still pretty much an audio noob, lol. But hoping to improve!
(Edit: Ignore this comment. Somehow I posted this on the wrong video idk how, maybe autoplay started the next one.)
Hey, I wanted to bring this to your attention, but I'm pretty sure your CPU is listed incorrectly, as a Ryzen 7 6800X does not exist.
Love your setup btw!
(Idk if I posted this twice but it seems youtube deleted it the first time.)
Hey, thanks for watching! Are you sure you mean this video? There is no PC in this video, just my macbook and don't gave a pc listed. Maybe it was another tour video I did?
@@Ideal-Setup Maybe, I'll have to re-watch the video later to get a timestamp if it was this one.
@@Ideal-SetupYou were right! I somehow posted this comment on the wrong video????
@@some_random_o_o3140 No problem! You probably meant the tour I did of a friend's setup. The one with the light wood. He had a pc under his desk.
@@Ideal-Setup It wasn't even a video of yours xd.
I liked the old room better, perhaps the room a little to Large for an all out Black style
I get it. This is actually not the end of my office build. I'm turning it into an all out youtube studio with a couple of other setups. So that space will be used up functionally.
Great setup, I'd send that to setup wars (seriously).... any ideas on where to go for the left side? Great video.... 🤘 😎 🤙
Cheers! I'm going to do it for sure and maybe make a video entry for it. For the left side of the room? I'm thinking another smaller setup that's walnut wood and dark as well. Then I have a mobile husky workbench in the middle, and maybe an area for a tv.
My goal is to have multiple sets to shoot content and get creative work done, along with some gaming.
@Ideal-Setup camera gear area for the left side, maybe? 🤔
@@D3cPh3r339 Yeah. Good idea. I need a charging station for sure. Have another pegboard I could maybe use for that. I need to keep working in the space a bit more to figure out what works best for me.
where can i get that storm trooper screen saver? EPIC!
It is pretty epic! I added the link to my video description at the bottom. Enjoy!
Can you explain the Salford thing?
Which thing? Not sure I understand what a Salford is? lol Let me know at which point in the video and I can explain it.
@@Ideal-Setup Yeah, at 20:48 in the video, you have some sort of screen that says the word "Salford" on it. Firstly, what is that device exactly, and why did it say the word Salford on it? Why do you have it? Where did you get it? What is its purpose?
@@dexanexa Oh, that is the Pixoo64! It's by a company called Divoom. It's a pixel that displays animated art at 64x64 pixels. It's for that retro look. You get access to an app full of the art you can download and display or make/upload your own.
When I turned it on, it just displayed random ones. Then you can set it to your own or have it cycle through.
Looks great. The only problem with all black is all the dust you see on your setup.

Thanks for watching and the feedback on the audio at the start! I got a little carried away with the montage. Lol. I'll keep that in mind for next time I do that.

The setup had to go there 😭 that beautiful cozy wood pool room is gone. what happened to man caves
We got to enjoy it for 3 years, but it wasn't getting much use anymore and I needed the space. But I hear ya, all that wood had a certain charm to it.
@Ideal-Setup you gotta keep a bit of the wood and make a memorial
@@radicalkonrad765 lmao, great idea!

Thanks! Will do!
Where is you PC?
Too old, so currently running it off my Macbook Pro laptop. But looking to build one soon!
Why go with such expensive, beautiful oak just to wrap it.
I counter you with...why not?
All jokes aside, it was the aesthetic I wanted to go for and the best part is the vinyl wrap doesn't damage it. So I could remove it whenever I want and even re-sand and stain it too. Plus, my first desk setup was already a lot of wood tones.
W dad.
Yup!
Dry wall over top of that existing wood panelling is lazy and a good way to develop mold in between the two layers.
@@StevesGarage Yeah, i'm curious too. I will buy a device to check humidity in that room like you suggested, just to be safe and keep an eye on it.
@@StevesGarage That's good information to know. Mine was built in 1987 or 88 and it does have a sump pump. Never had moisture issues in here.
"And again, i love how cheap they were. costing only $50 dollars each"
ONLY $50 dollars?!?! I'm sorry that's insane
