- hello everybody, in this tutorial w'll see how to Extract contour lines and create Raster DEM (Digital elevation model) from Google Earth. if you need me to work with you, contact me (kridatima@gmail.com)
#Google #Earth #ArcGIS
I waited 6 years for this, thank you. Very. Much Sir.
I just happen to be a Marine in Artillery training - our course Sgt. was telling us that he did this same thing with google earth, as well as a number of other things, to create an Artillery simulator to help train South Korean Artillery units. I’m glad this came up in my feed; perhaps I can use this as well.
I think there are better free sources for elevation data like SRTM, ASTER or even some higher-resolution regional datasets.
Esto nos ahorrará mucho tiempo, gracias Maestro!
Thank you so much . i was search it for weekends. Thank you🙏
One of the best tutorial. Cant thank you enough
Thankyou so much for sharing!! Very helpful
Awesome teaching Sir Ji
This is so helpful. Thank you for the video!
Thank you for this tutorial. appreciations from Kenya
thank you very much this tutorail is so helpful.
thank you so much for this great tutorial! I'm using it for my master thesis...

very greatful to see this
Good instruction. I think this can also be used to make your maps of for example your own geotagged measurements, for example groundwater levels.
Hello sir. Do you know anyway to to extract the labels from Arcgis to autocad as well
Wowwwww I love it
Wow! Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video 🙏👌👍

Great tutorial but for the first part (creating the points) i would recommend to create a fishnet (in arcmap) or Grid (in QGIS) to create multiple points more dense and quicker and then export it as kml
Exactly. This is more practical and accurate way.
Firstly draw a polygon in google earth and export it to use kml to layer helping with arcgis conversion tool.
Then, click data management > sapling > create fishnet and choose the polygon and determine the grid number (you should use number of rows and number of columns and write i.e. 100 x 100.) This process creates 100 x 100 grid point(It means you have 10 000 points).
Then export only the point features to google earth helping with conversion>layer to kml.
Then open this *kml file in google earth and right click and save as a newer kml file (you must do it, because this process automaticaly gets the elevation values from google earth.).
After exporting kml file, you can now guide the same way in this tutorial to create a new *gpx file. Then you import it global mapper or another gis tool and create contours. Then you can create a new elevation grid (or TIN in ArcGIS).
I suggest this way especially in wide spatial projects.
@@yox82ify thats very useful for me. thank you, for the tutorial :) May i ask, about how is the accuracy for the contour? as we know that good contour line can be generated only from DTM, not DSM (at least for several region). Please help me
Hi I tried this using a point grid created from QGIS. I exported the point grid I produced over my area as a KML (Saving as ESPG:4326). I imported the KML to Google Earth Pro so that it lines up with my area and I then exported this KML from google with the associated elevations. I created a gpx and added to QGIS as a CSV. I interpolated and everything seems ok but I get a strange grid pattern on my DEM raster which I don't like. Is there anyway of getting rid of this so the colours are smoother?
Maybe the right word is "in addition" instead of "you recommend". You should have your own video, thing is, when people learn from what they see, they pretend to know better.
@@moowilbur5692 even if I am not an native English speaker, I know how to use "recommend". Scientifically speaking, heaving a PhD in Geoinformatics and 20 years of University teaching experience I know when to "recommend".
helpful ... thank you very much
wow amazing, thanks!
Thank u so much for your guidance
HELPED A LOT THANK uuuuuuuu
WOW Great Stuff!!!!
bon jour
Very helpful.. ❤️
Alhamdulillah mantap
That's really cool, and very helpful, thanks! Only as good as the underlying DEM, sure, but still handy. ;)
So cool. Thanks
If only dem that GE uses was free and available anywhere in the world....
literally just saved me on this science project
Well done
Great!!
Thank you for this tutorial. This video has made my work easier. By the way, have you ever involved with any project within East Malaysia area? Because i have noticed that you have a Borneo map file in your computer.
Very Nice :) Thanks Big Big :)
Awesome
God bless you! Thanks a lot!
thanks it helps me

Thank you so much ❤
Good one
Tx.very useful
THANK YOU VERY MUTCH!! ALSO YOU CAN SAVE CONTOURS AS LAYER THEN CONVERT THE CONTOUR LAYER TO KML OR KMZ AND INSERT IT BACK TO GOOGLE EARTH! THANK YOU AGAIN FOR THIS VIDEO!
thank you for sharing your this ILoveYou. =)
Wow just wow
Thank you so much!!!!
U a megabrain, thank u!!!
Estupendo gracias
1.How relevant(in terms of precision) do you think this process is ; if I want to extract the geographical Data of a landfill site?
2. And other question regarding the process itself, if the least elevation point I'm getting is 600Ft. and from there on it is increasing... in that case, what is the base point (Elevation 0Ft.) or if there is any process to manually set a base for assumption in order to get better clarity ?
MSL is base.
Thanks men!!
Thank you so so much...
Bravo!
RUclips recomendation is realy awesome. How do u even know that i need this tutorial for next week assignment
They could actually know, you know
@@roeland195 But how? I didn't even search for it anywhere yet, it's already on my recommendation 👁️👄👁️
@@devyaulia7507 Because you looked up for similar content. dăăăăăă

Thanks lot
Yeah. That was easy.
Good Working
Thankyou thankyou thankyou 🥺
Amazing #Pakgisrs
Perfect
Thank you
Thank u so much
thank you
Thank you for this valuable information.

This is cool. A better approach would be to make a grid, or mesh, in a GIS and apply it over GE, then go back to the GIS, create a TIN off the contours, then exchange that into a true DEM. All you're doing here is creating a raster surface, but no terrain properties of a DEM.
Hi, can you explain this process better?
perfectly doing
Thank you for your video. Anyway, how can we know and adjust the contour interval?
Well appreciated
I want to see some example with soil data been my specialization please
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks bro
Thanks ☺️

Nice Video. Can we do it at any part of the world or it depends on the resolution criteria and not properly done in a country like India. Is the ArcGIS software is free or paid?
does this work the same on qgis?
What are units of the contour lines on your map?
Master
thanks a lot

Is this better or downloading from OpenDem better??
I just use the polygon tool in google earth and draw lines at the same elevation in one direction then come back in the other direction 1m above or below the last line. you can save the path too. very quick.
How? I did not understand well what you meant to say. What do you mean when you say you draw lines at the same elevation?
hii, how can i make contour lines using the polygon tool?
Maybe I did not understand what you said but that really doesn't sound quick!
Merci beaucoup

hello, i am still learning about ArcGIS. so can anyone tell me, how changing the contour interval (e.g. change it to 5), can change the contour lines? Does the contour interval means that the distance from contour line one to contour line two is 5 (if we set the contour interval to 5)???
*i am sorry if my question is a bit confusing, English is not my first language.
Tanks
Sir what to do, my gpx to features tools is not working in arc map
?????
Thanks for making this great video! I ran into an issue when I tried to convert the lines into IDW and it says that I can’t do that cuz I the software that I have doesn’t have the license! So do you have an idea which version should I use in order to overcome this issue! I’ve tried to use the educational online version but can’t access the toolbox feature
I had the same problem. Did you ever get to resolve this?
merciiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii thank you
thànkas
work for all region?
thanks a lot! i did it right... but when i export it to cad i get the elevation value correct but the x and y are not correct and not in good scale.
