your revelation about how you're holding yourself back made me tear up a bit. i relate so much to this. i find myself obsessing over all of the ways anything could go wrong that i completely miss out on the actual task or event and then get so angry at myself for what happened. i dropped out of college because of those thoughts and anxieties!!! i don't really know where i'm going with this comment but i'm proud of both of us for acknowledging that issue and working towards combating it. i'm happy to see you back on booktube and spending so much time working on yourself!
It's honestly baffling to me that I didn't realize I was doing it! But it's good we're both so aware of it now because I think it's one more step closer to actually participating in life lolol. I hope 2025 is our year 😏🎉 thank you for your comment!
Say it louder for us anxious girlies in the back. This vlog was so relatable and so valuable. You inspired me to read and to clean and to stop myself before I got in my own way. I’m so glad you’re back ♥️
I actually gasped when I saw that you were back! 😂❤ This was such a great video. I can seriously relate to the “time traveling” and you have motivated me to check in with myself more! 😅 So happy for you that you have found your passion again! Also RE: you mentioning this video was going to be too long…I don’t think you could make a video that would be “too long”. I would happily watch a two hour vlog and love every second 🎉
So happy you’re back! I totally relate to everything you’ve been going through. I’m so proud of you for taking these steps! You’ve inspired me to make some hard choices in my own life. I just can’t keep living with the amount of anxiety I have. Thanks for sharing your story. You are so incredibly brave and inspiring. I don’t know you (obviously 😂) but I adore you and I’d adopt you if I could. Take care and enjoy the holiday season. ❤❤❤
Do not be embarrassed!!! You came to some realizations here that it took me over a year paying a therapist to get to. Living in the past/dwelling or coming up with future scenarios is a very real thing but we definitely sacrifice a lot of the present and actually living to do that. I also understand the whole fear of being perceived but honestly most people are too concerned/concentrating on themselves to even notice, also in this day and age vlogging isn’t that rare of a thing for people to see but it’s also possible people would just think you were talking to someone else (which you are). I really found you talking about a cleaning schedule really helpful as that is something I struggle with, and I kinda feel like a need a shower squeegee now ✨influenced✨ Either way I’m so glad you are back, you’re one of my fave booktubers and a true joy to watch. 🥰
Love that you’re back! You’re one of the best RUclipsrs out there because you’re so real and authentic. If you were walking down the street in your neighbourhood and you saw/heard a neighbour in their window talking about books, would you judge them harshly? Probably not, right? You’d probably be super excited for them doing something they love (and it’s books!) Maybe you could keep that excitement in mind when you’re filming in front of your windows. If a neighbour walks by and see/hears you, they’re going to be super excited that you’re talking about books and doing something you love - there’s no shame or judgement there, right?
I’m not joking when I tell you I have been nodding along and saying, “yep. That’s me. That’s what I’ve been telling myself for months.” Have I done anything about filming? Nope. But videos like these help make me feel not alone- even down to sitting down and talking about all of the barriers (especially mental) to creating in a space where I don’t want to be perceived 😅. Big kudos to you for getting shit done!!
I’m only about halfway through the video but just wanted to say how relatable it is to fear being perceived-I know that holds me back as well and it’s such a hard thing to admit so kudos to you for facing it and for being vulnerable enough to share that with us too, which is a gift. I’m hoping that 2025 will be the year that I start to do so as well!
So glad you're back! I related so strongly to the fear of being perceived by neighbors - this was a big struggle for me when I lived in an apartment. For me it was a matter of exposure therapy, just forcing myself to do things that might be perceived and noticing how I didn't die after it happened. I sang along to my music a lot, and also tried to notice times when my neighbors were making noise and I wasn't judging them for it. Also I related to so much of this, so thank you for being so vulnerable, and please don't feel embarrassed - you're actually doing really admirably with self-reflection and implementing plans to put what you've learned to use! I'm in school training to be a therapist, and if you were a client of mine I would be super proud (sorry if that's like very parasocial AND transference at the same time but I wanna say it).
Glad to see you back. You are one of my fav booktubers not because your videos are so brilliantly produce (they are really well done btw) but because you seem so real. Not perfect but like someone I saw in a bookstore with a really unusual stach of books in thier hands and I took 15 minutes to get the nerve to ask what you had. I am sooo introverted irl. At work, I am very extroverted so to connect with my patrons (am a librarian) but outside of work my...issues are numerous. Thank you for being you.
the fear of being perceived is so real bestie. so glad you're back! i love love seeing your thought process in this vid - i've thought about starting booktube forever but put it off because i'm lowkey scared. you're so relatable and such a gem in this community!!!!!!
What a lovely, unexpected early Christmas present! As usual your candor and humor makes what might be a tough topic totally relatable. I am so happy you feel up to making content again!! Happy Holidays and see you in your next video.
So happy to see you’re back!! ❤ I really relate to what you were saying towards the end of the video. I had some pretty traumatic stuff happen this year (everything is ok mostly now!!) but I really felt like it “broke” my brain for a while. Like this is the first year since 2020 I won’t crack 100 books read, I won’t even pass 60 I don’t think. And there are so many books, video games, hobbies, and things I’m interested in doing, but I started to notice I’d get trapped in these thought spirals after work and instead of doing ANYTHING, I’d just stare at a wall for 45 mins and think. Or spend an hour going through my own camera roll?? Kinda like what you said, I probably just look like a zombie lol. And I wanna be kind to myself and know that that’s just my brain processing a lot of trauma and life change. But I love this reminder to check in with yourself and be like ok what am I doing. If it’s nothing…that’s not gonna make me happy tomorrow realizing I wasted 2 hours staring at the wall when I could’ve been reading one of my most anticipated releases of the year!! Anyway, oversharing right back to ya haha. I started watching you during summerween this year and I just love your videos! ❤❤
thank god someone can relate!! Thank you for sharing this it makes me feel less alone 😭I wish you the best of luck this next year!! [and forever after that obvi lolol]
I discovered you right before your booktube break so I binged on old videos while keeping fingers 🤞that the break wouldn't be long. There may have been a little shriek of excitement when I saw this posted today! Welcome back! You've inspired me to create a weekly goal list ✔. LOVE the vlog, please keep it up!
I screamed when I saw you had a new upload!! I love this transparency, and I can totally relate to so much of this. I'm so proud of you for sharing this. You're amazing!
I'm also so glad you're back! I love watching your videos because you just have this air of authenticity about you which is so endearing and your personality feels so similar to my own (I genuinely think if we were in the same room we could just easily yap back and forth for hours, ahaha!). I completely relate to the thought processes you went through during this video - I also find that it makes things easier to work through when you just talk about it and put your thoughts out into the ether as opposed to constantly overthinking things with regards to the past and future (and therefore, never feeling like you're living in the present). Proud of you for setting yourself tangible and achievable goals and smashing them!
♥ I’m so glad you’re feeling better about posting again! Sending support & peace as you navigate through this. I am overly anxious and catastrophize as well. It’s an ongoing battle, but I started counting in my head and breathing in/out(like meditating) when I notice I’m spiraling. It does help calm me a bit in the moment.
Yay, I was so happy to see you had uploaded as you went on a break just as I discovered you. Please don't feel embarassed about your revelations, so many of us can relate and I do the same thing as you were with time travelling. I can also relate to feeling guilty if I do anything that brings me even an ounce of joy when I feel sick and take a day off from work. Really looking forward to seeing more from you and btw 10 mins or 2 hours I'll watch it :) x
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for making this video and sharing so much with us. I related to a lot of it. I hope things keep going well for you (and get better for me). And I'm obviously immensely grateful to see you back on booktube ❤
I just stumbled upon your channel and everything you’ve spoken about resonated with me so much!! Thank you so much for posting this, it felt so comforting and validating to come along this journey with you when these are also the things I struggle with. I definitely want to implement editing a bit and as I go every day because when I bulk edit I’m completely gone for 2 days I don’t eat I don’t sleep and that’s not sustainable 😂 also 100% agree that just watching booktube content helps so much to get motivated. Thank you for this and being so open about your feelings!
Yayy, happy to see you again! 🥰 edit: I think you are a perfectionist, and girl I am too, and one thing I noticed is this all or nothing mentality, so if I watch a class, pay attention, make notes, but I didn’t do the reading for the class, I feel like my effort of actually taking the class “doesn’t count” because I didn’t do the task “perfectly” 🙄 it’s very dumb, but I feel so bad and want to quit a lot. I understand you, don’t worry, it’s a very frustrating existence, and the secret is just being aware of how annoying you can be with yourself 😅 sometimes we just need to tell yourselves to shut up
I am so happy that you're back!! Well done on being brave enough to post this. Do not be embarrassed about any of this! I honestly think more people need to do stuff like this because it would help them. Seriously, well done for trying and pushing through. You are so awesome and i loved this video so much!
I loved watching your weekly progress! I definitely found this helpful and plan to try to do something similar with the things I'm struggling with in my life. Thank you!
Yay you’re back we missed you. Glad you forced yourself to take a bit break. I love that you worked through some stuff and cannot wait to see what sort of videos you have in store for us.
This whole video is incredibly relatable. I think I might adopt some of your techniques, if that isn't weird to do! Like 5 minutes of tidying every night feels like it would really help me. And I think "spend X time doing Y general activity" would be a lot more helpful to me than trying to make myself do a specific task (such as put away clothes) because it'll be less in my head and feel less like I've failed if I don't accomplish that specific thing.
I love this! It was so satisfying to watch. I subscribed right before you took your break, so I'm glad you are back! Also I cackled when the Rugrats theme played.
This video was SO INSPIRING you have no idea! Loved following along and so happy you are pulling your way out of your slump and having some revelations along the way! Also this reminded me how much I love taking daily walks (I really need to get back into it!) and a lot of your goals are similar to mine, so I might try my own version of a weekly goals list! Also you freaking crushed those goals, wow! Talk about building confidence and learning to trust yourself!
Absolutely do not be embarrassed! I have been struggling with worrying about the future rather than living in the present literally my whole life. It's only fairly recently that I've been able to start using tools I've learned to ground myself when I start spiralling and bring myself back to where I am right now, rather than what might happen in the future. I try and remind myself that whatever will happen, will happen, and I have to trust future-me to take care of it.
Ali, so good to see you ❤ This was very motivational. You should be proud of yourself...as weird as it might sound I'm proud of you, and so happy for you going on this journey. Self-reflection is a ride!!!😅 💪❤ Your Revelation chat about stressing about the past, dealing with that, but then stressing about the future! Totally relate with everything you said 🤗
Yay! I'm a new subscriber, so I was bummed when you posted your break video! Honestly, I love this kind of video and makes me feel less crazy for having similar thoughts and feelings. You're doing great and I can't wait for more of your videos!
ALI! Thank you for being so vulnerable with us ❤ I loved seeing your face again and this video is so inspiring for myself and the way i live. I love you ❤🎉
I too am nice to my electronics. I take it personal that I’m the nicest one to Alexa in my household and she acts like she can’t ever hear me. 😂 Glad to see you back! It’s everyone’s first time living and I think that’s so easy to forget even about yourself. 💛
lmao SAME Siri pretending not to hear me even tho I'm the only one that says "thank you" 🤣 And omg I had to read that twice because it just hit me in the face, but yes this is my first time living and I indeed forgot lolol I need to write that down!
So good to see you back! This has given me some ideas to make changes for myself. I also am nice to my inanimate objects, just in case :) If only I could get my wife to quit cursing at her laptop ...
#silentaliscream!!!!!! So happy to see you!!! 😊 Two things…. 1) YES you are onto something with the walks. I read The Nature Fix by Florence Williams (might make a great audio book while you’re cleaning 😂). It is absolutely good for us and important to get out into nature. There is scientific evidence to back this up! 2) Of the booktubers I watch, YOU are the one that my boyfriend wants to watch with me. If that doesn’t give you confidence I don’t know what will. ❤️😜 This morning I told him, “I’m watching this whole video while I get ready for work!” 😅
honestly this was so nice to watch. thank you for sharing!!! I believe in you 💛as a former booktuber (not this account) who thought about returning this year, I totally feel the need or desire to "mock vlog" lol. I tried it and realized I wasn't ready. But maybe I do need to take a more introspective look like you have to see if I want to come back!
this was awesome. you are amazing. ps. an idea for what book to read - maybe put your books into a spinner wheel? let fate decide? and you could do different themes, all books that start with S in one wheel, books with a blue cover in another? or just pile them all together??? ppss. just because it's promoting a video over there ---> do you ever watch The Clever Cowgirl? they're nice videos if you like looking at horses, and some nice Montana landscape.
those kind of reading vlogs are my favorite! because it keeps things feeling impulsive while there's still a structure to it. I'll have to check that channel out! Sounds super chill ✨
Ali, have you thought of starting a Patreon? I would love to support you so you can reach all your RUclipsr goals. I love watching your videos! ❤ I loved this video. I struggle with following through with goals and this was actually super helpful!
this is so sweet THANK YOU! I've thought about doing Patreon, but I definitely want to wait until I have more time to devote to it because boy do I have some fun things in mind! I'm hoping it can happen in 2025 though 👀
The rugrats intro 😭 Who needs therapy when there’s a new Ali video. Loved watching you discover mindfulness 🩵 and you got me hyped for the new year. so happy you are back!
Okay, you didn’t invent the after work walk stuff, I did! But glad you found it on the sidewalk! Love love love you are here! I have check my subscribe notifications several times hoping you were back -so clickorooney for me! Thanks! ❤❤❤

Yay! I'm a new subscriber, so I was bummed when you posted your break video! Honestly, I love this kind of video and makes me feel less crazy for having similar thoughts and feelings. You're doing great and I can't wait for more of your videos!
glad you could relate!! thank you!
why can’t i ‘like’ this video 8000 times!
😭
ALI! Thank you for being so vulnerable with us ❤
I loved seeing your face again and this video is so inspiring for myself and the way i live.

😏
I’m sooo happy to see you back 😊 ❤❤
It’s good to be back!
Was so so happy to have this in my feed and it was also a helpful process for you 💜
thanks Angela!!
I too am nice to my electronics. I take it personal that I’m the nicest one to Alexa in my household and she acts like she can’t ever hear me. 😂
Glad to see you back! It’s everyone’s first time living and I think that’s so easy to forget even about yourself. 💛
lmao SAME Siri pretending not to hear me even tho I'm the only one that says "thank you" 🤣
And omg I had to read that twice because it just hit me in the face, but yes this is my first time living and I indeed forgot lolol I need to write that down!
I'm so happy you are back!!!! 😭🥰🥰🥰🥰
🥳
I Love love love your channel and your energy. This content is so relatable and appreciated. I’m a fan. Totally inspired.

So good to see you back! This has given me some ideas to make changes for myself. I also am nice to my inanimate objects, just in case :) If only I could get my wife to quit cursing at her laptop ...
yay, I'm glad!! and lmao maybe the laptop likes it hahahaha
the fear of being perceived is so real. excited for your videos to be back!!

Proud of you bb!!!!!!! So happy you're back
@@folklore.and.fiction thanks bestie!!
What do you use to edit your videos?? ALSO WELCOME BACK QUEEN MISSED U
I use adobe premiere pro. ALSO HI THANKS!!
❤️😜 This morning I told him, “I’m watching this whole video while I get ready for work!” 😅
@@socaltoobie8984 I’ll have to check it out!
And LOL that did make me feel better 😭 😂 thank you!!
This was such a great video! Very relatable! 😊
I'm glad you liked it!
Sometimes a break is needed...I'm glad you're back!
@@TheMaricelVlogs thank you!
honestly this was so nice to watch. thank you for sharing!!! I believe in you 💛as a former booktuber (not this account) who thought about returning this year, I totally feel the need or desire to "mock vlog" lol. I tried it and realized I wasn't ready. But maybe I do need to take a more introspective look like you have to see if I want to come back!
when you come back let me know so I can follow along!!
So happy you're back!❤

this was awesome. you are amazing. ps. an idea for what book to read - maybe put your books into a spinner wheel? let fate decide? and you could do different themes, all books that start with S in one wheel, books with a blue cover in another? or just pile them all together??? ppss. just because it's promoting a video over there ---> do you ever watch The Clever Cowgirl? they're nice videos if you like looking at horses, and some nice Montana landscape.
those kind of reading vlogs are my favorite! because it keeps things feeling impulsive while there's still a structure to it.
I'll have to check that channel out! Sounds super chill ✨
Self reflection is a bitch. Dont feel embarrassed for giving yourself check lists and small motivators. ❤
@@BecxReadz it kicked my ass 😂
This was extremely interesting!!! Thank you!
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
