As for making players feel free to push themselves if they please, there's also the ban issue that has been going on since forever, even just the trade-bans suck and seem mostly avoidable. Also, I love the tradition of ridiculously long runs pushing the game's scaling beyond intention, that's just CLASSIC Warframe, but I'd love more ways to push ourselves to some kinda limit in more reasonable amounts of time. Keep the classic stuff, but it'd be crazy to get a survival that pressures your revives and/or kps before you even get there, I'm thinking through mini-bosses that really make you dance.

Otherwise, if Prism is reduced to something that’s no longer steel path viable, then we can at least subsume Pillage over her 4 and get to a 1-cast-full-strip-refill-shields build with her using a handful of mods, because thanks to Precision Intensify, other Frames use Pillage just as well as Hildryn does, despite not being able to force heat procs on everything like how she can

Maybe a hot take, but I don't think it's healthy for the game to have helminth abilities that let you have the same damage increase or damage reduction as a more specialized Warframe
Like why use Gara for her 90% DR if you can just subsume an ability that does the same thing
What I can agree on, is having a lower base number that takes way more investment to get to 90%, which is why I'm okay with abilities like pillage needing a ridiculous amount of strength to strip with one cast

After doing the math I am a firm believer that the eclipse damage bonus should be 50% at base. Given the majority of our damage comes from status builds, especially bleed, roar is simply superior in terms of dealing damage. Giving eclipse a base of 50% creates situations where the optimal skill to use is really dependent on the build. If you aren't using faction mods, Roar will still increase status proc damage more than eclipse at any level of ability strength.
Even with a primed faction mod roar is still competitive with eclipse for status proc builds if eclipse had a base increase of 50%. At 100% ability strength Eclipse would increase status proc damage by only 5% more than roar. At 300% strength they would deal nearly identical amounts of status proc damage, and above that roar would be superior.
If the eclipse base damage were increased to 50% roar would still be the optimal choice for status weapons for anyone who doesn't like swapping faction mods, playing against a faction without primed faction mods, runs high strength, wants to buff squad, or deals ability damage. Eclipse is cheaper and it would be used over roar with weapons that deal raw damage, but those are relatively rare compared to those that rely on status effects. Eclipse can also be used defensively as well.
On that note, increase the DR cap to 90% on the helminth version. Is there really a reason why it can't be 90% like everything else in the game?

The thing about the Eclipse vs Roar argument that DE themselves made is that it’s only relevant if you are getting both the damage buff and damage reduction for Eclipse at the same time, which is not the case.
And if you’re going to make the damage directly equal to roar where applicable, that means to even consider matching this against roar, which new players get access to way earlier, you would need a hyper specific loadout that never uses abilities for dealing damage AND has their entire loadout equipped with not any amount of damage over time. As Brozime stated, a vast majority of builds use damage over time setups. So to ask players to ignore the vast majority of builds for the 3 weapon slots they get on their loadout just for an equal damage buff on an ability that doesn’t ask that from you and instead rewards further you for playing into that meta is a really big ask. What really takes the cake for me is that in their effort to equalize this to Roar in the Helminth system, they ignored normalizing the Helminth nerf amount. Most abilities when transferred to Helminth are nerfed by about 40% if they are going to be nerfed. This is the same for Roar, Warcry, and now Nourish. In order for them to nerf Eclipse to equalize it to Roar, it had to be nerfed by at least 80%. That’s such a short sighted change that didn’t need to happen that will force Eclipse into obscurity for the purposes of Helminth.

Inaros had so much potential, then they just tuned the numbers way too low. When they said damage would scale off health, I was assuming that it would be doing something like 100% of his health since thats the only thing that would scale into steel path. Ticking once per second is really just useless when it comes to stripping armor unless you're using melee influence.
It would be really nice if DE would stop nerfing every helmith into uselessness. There is already only like 5 useful helmith abilities and we just lost one. Now 90% of helmith usage is going to be roar, nourish, pillage, and gloom with the other 10% consisting of ensnare/larvae, dispensary, and condemn users.

Melee arcane adapters are still really good, turning in standing for 100 or so days to get it. So I don't mind them in Netracell. I much rather have my efforts be rewarded directly through gameplay rather than having to no-life grind specific modes for standing and then having to remember to get my adapters from birdo before applying them.
Speaking of modes, Alchemy in Omni is going to be painful. I cannot wait to see people's reactions to how bad that mode is, half the time it reads better hope everyone in your squad loves throwing stuff for 2 minutes straight due to the awful squad scaling mechanic it has on top of the needing to constantly throw stuff and the other half of the time it reads do mobile defense. Other than that super disappointed at the lack of modes. I hate that it is going to be shove the new modes down our throats, other than mirror defense which would've actually been decent imo, this is kind of in a strange spot for Warframe right now.
I'm hoping the new netracell alternative is halfway decent as well. Could end up being a slog fest we have to suffer every week for.

For eclipse, i just wish they didn't nerf it on Mirage herself because really the need to even have this change was due to the GI lighting being buggy and not giving us full values. Why are they nerfing the ability of the original frame if that ability was diminished by their poor coding? I won't argue helminth version, but i just don't see a point in the double standards of not nerfing other frames when its their helminth ability that needs tweaking, but somehow Mirage deserves it

Man, I am really scratching my head over that Prism nerf. Not only does it make sense from a balance perspective to simply change what triggers the scaling rather than trading the scaling for a flat 100% bonus, it also strikes me as easier to implement You've already got the scaling mechanic on the ability; just change the triggering condition. It's literally just editing the if() statement. I get that on certain maps "stay in the light" is a harder condition to fulfill than "keep this toggle on," but on other maps it's not difficult at all. Since the whole purpose of these updates was to make Mirage *more consistent,* I would think "minor change on some maps, meaningful buff on others" would be in line with their goals.
I dunno, really weird decision on that one. I get where their head was for the Helminth nerf, but Prism just confuses me.
*Edit:* After further clarification on the forum thread, it seems the intended change is for the damage scaling-per-tick to remain; it's just been set to a base 50% and Eclipse can double that. That seems both more consistent and a reasonable trade for paying attention to light values, so these changes seem to be a good deal for Mirage. Helminth version is still screwed, but I think this evens out to a QoL improvement for Mirage with mostly similar overall performance, if not better in some cases.

    • @Miniman6347
      @Miniman6347 2 месяца назад +1

So Priam actually got strictly a buff. The way Prism works is that depending on light level it gets a scaling bonus damage % between 0 and 100. All this Eclipse change does with Prism is that it means you’re either at no bonus damage or 100% bonus damage while Eclipse is up.
Lighting in Warframe has been very inconsistent in triggering that if statement across practically the whole game. There have been cases where you are standing in light and the of statement incorrectly triggers “You’re not standing in light.”

    • @faithgrins

      @@Miniman6347
The way the patch notes read to me, it seems that they have removed the scaling part of Prism and you simply get double damage while Solar Eclipse is on, which would be a nerf. Currently, Prism's damage ramps up with each tick, where any given tick can ramp by some value between 0% and 100%. In dark rooms, you tend to get single-digit ramp on-tick and it won't scale much at all, but in well-lit rooms you can easily observe it scaling past 100% after a couple of seconds. If they changed it so that *the damage ramp* is now 100% with Solar Eclipse active, then that's a huge buff, but then the Lunar Eclipse synergy would be hilariously underpowered.
Of course, if they buff the base damage by enough then a simple "double damage" synergy might be viable in some content. I could also be reading the patch notes wrong. It just strikes me as both poorly worded and poorly designed if the new behavior is "damage ramp is 100% per tick while Solar Eclipse is on, energy cost is halved while Lunar Eclipse is on."
*Edit:* OK, so apparently they clarified on the forums that new Prism will keep the damage scaling behavior. It's base 50% value with Eclipse entirely off, but that value doubles to 100% while Solar Eclipse is on. That missing piece makes it make sense: 50% scaling per tick is enough that it can get work done, and half energy cost per tick is competitive with double the scaling value in some content. So ignore all of that above; the patch notes just missed something. xD
