Sofia wrote cook books. Her dietary habits are very good. She eats fresh whole foods. Sofia avoids sugar, caffeine and too much alcohol. That is probably why she looks so good at 88.

One of the strangest diets I've read is Dolly Parton's. I read an older biography by her and she explained that she lost the weight she had gained in the 70's by following a chew and spit out diet. She'd "eat" her meal, spitting most of the chewed up food into a cup! This way she'd get to taste the food but eat very few calories. So sadly disordered:(

    Hello lovely Laura Jane.
If you see this I thought you'd find it interesting. My husbands father was a 3rd generation pharmacist. Above the pharmacy is 3 floors of items from era's past.
When I found a stash of vintage 50's-60's Maybelline makeup, some compacts and bottles, etc., I thought of your channel. This is deadstock, unopened. The colors of iridescent royal blue, jade green, etc., combined with the aesthetic of the packaging is something unique to the era and helps date it.
There are so many boxes of bottles and jars, anything you can imagine from a turn of the century onwards soda fountain/ pharmacy.
I didn't see a way to share photos to you. Is anyone out there interested in seeing any photos? Thank you Laura Jane for your wonderful videos, always a relaxing respite from my current class deadlines.

They still work. I use Adderall for weight control and energy now that I'm in my late 40s. Sleeping pills if I need them at night. As long as you don't do them daily you won't become physically dependent. Physical dependence makes the sleeping pills very ineffective. I also pop opiates and benzos on weekend mornings as a hangover cure. As long as you switch up your drugs you never need to worry about tolerance and withdrawal. It's a cheat code for life

I expected you'd have a piece about Joan Crawford, but with a bunch of these old starlets you completely overlook the fact that they got a vast amount of calories from the alcohol they were consuming. We know that Monroe, Crawford, Garland and Taylor were famous for their alcoholism. I wouldn't be surprised if they had entire weeks at a time where they ate nothing but speed and washed it down with booze and Pepsi giving them a caloric deficit. Its way more than just a drive for "thinness" its about the entirely unhealthy relationship that people have with food. Everyone still wants to eat like they're 17th century farm laborers when the hardest thing they do all day is scroll through their phone.

Lastly he was very sick towards the end of his life, he was both constipated and bloated. It was also a genetic predisposition which his mom and uncles all suffered from. 3 substantial meals a day for Audrey Hepburn may have worked for her, but that does not work for me whatsoever. I can't eat more than 800-1000 calories a day unless I have a very active day in the sun. I cook all my meals everyday (unless it's a special occasion) which makes a big difference in how many calories are in each meal.

72 hours make me take pause...
I can believe what alot of them did here, I do question the being up and working 72 hours, even if Judy and Mickey was on drugs to work longer, what did those people around them do to keep up working in those 72 hours? Those people were at work as well, they didnt replace people behind the scenes. They were professionals in their field.
I honestly think that number, 72 is a stretch. I think seeing all the photos of Judy and Mickey taken constantly you would see their appearance wane. They were always clear eyed and never looked drug down...
Anyone on those types of drugs for a period of time will show.

Merylin eating raw eggs and milk for breakfast as well as just broiled meat and liver for dinner plus the occasional carrot is one of the most nutrient sense diets you could have. She stayed away from carbs, sugars, refined foods and seed oils - how can you eat better than this? Also I eat raw eggs with cream and I add either some decaf coffee or strawberries and u can vouch it's delicious. I'm really put off by you including this anecdote as an example of disordered eating when this is the cleanest diet possible.
