    The 800 blows a small path through a large pile of leaves. The 9010T picks up the whole pile and throws it for those who are wondering. The 800 is a nice ergonomic comfy blower though. Solution is to buy both. Use the 9010 for massive clean ups and the 800 for everything else.

    Go to a dealer and strap one on. I did. I found the Echo was Wayyyyy too heavy. I felt it in my shoulders immediately. I later tried the Stihl, and the weight felt better, a difference of 4-5 pounds less. So...since I like my back, I'll go with the Stihl.

    When you do the comfort test you should put on a jacket! We do the most (longest) backpack blowing in cooler weather. In my area (upstate NY) it can be cold in late November. You showed the winter switch on the Stihl which is for below 40°. I switched it over early November and will use mine several more weeks…with a jacket or a couple of flannel shirts. Big difference in comfort comparisons. I have the Echo and Sthil models you tested.

    Very good comparison video. I'm in Asia and have the Zenoah 8550, the exact same blower as the Redmax (Husky owns both). I manage a large property that has massive leaf fall, both deciduous leaves and Pine needles, the blower gets very heavy use which entails pretty much daily leaf blowing for at least three to four months each year (it can make you crazy). The blower, in it's second year now, has held up real well and does an excellent job. I really love the hip throttle, which was an option, managing the tube is very comfortable and simplistic without the throttle. It makes me wonder if guys putting down the hip throttle have ever tried it? The hip throttle is also very comfortable and works super well, and I like the balance of holding on to something in both hands. I also think it helps to stabilize the unit on your back. I found it essential to add both a chest and hip strap to the Zenoah to keep the blower more rigid on my back. I noticed that they still didn't add those straps on the 8560. It is a bit heavy blower, as the vid points out. I took the screen out of the muffler, not a problem in my neck of the woods, to maybe eek a tad more power from the engine and have it run cooler, if it is anything like on chainsaws. I've been wanting to experiment with a slightly narrower tip tube to give a more confined air blast, but haven't gotten around to making something up. The narrow handle under the air filter (it took about a month before I noticed it) is ok for moving the thing around, I wouldn't call it particularly comfortable though. A bit of a gas hog, but I think that comes with the territory.

I am looking to upgrade (maybe the 9010), but going on 66 years old and a little worried about how much longer I'll want to lug 30 Lbs. on my back and how long my shoulder will last ;). I have about a half acre to clear, but live in the middle of the woods. Over the fall I usually spend 40 Hrs doing my yard. Maybe it would go a lot faster with a bigger blower? Been using blowers commercially for the last 20 years... still using an Echo PB-650 after 17 years, and it's still my blower of choice. It's bombproof and comfortable. Been using Stihl BR600/700s for the last 10 years and hate them. They are light and powerful for sure, but terribly uncomfortable and unreliable- we're lucky to get 3 or 4 years out of a 600.

  • @platinumlawnservice

    I guess for me unless im starting the blower from my back and can choke/unchoke with it like that than the auto choke doesnt matter. I have the 8010 with the auto choke and i start my blower on the rack then put it on the ground then put it on my back. I am watching these though because ive been interested in stihl for a while now. Ive owned many echo blowers and theyve all been pretty trouble free. I appreciate the accessibility of the carburetor and fuel tank fittings on the echo redmax and husky. I dont always have time to wait weeks for my dealer to fix my stuff or have the luxury of just buying another one to use as a stand in. For a few bucks i can get myself back up and running within a few minutes of working on them. I also agree the tube is stiff (huh huh) on the echo. The whole unit is heavy and it really wears you out after a full day of yards. I cant find a stihl in stock around here but interested in a 600 for daily use. Not to mention the fuel savings we saw in the fuel mpg video

      @@mainstreetmower I would have to pick the 9010T. My back stays dry after using it for an hour or more in spring and summer. With other blowers my back is wet. The exhaust idle note is eargasmic. It moves large piles of leaves, gumballs and debris much easier than my Redmax. I still use the Redmax quite often. I like to put the Redmax 7500 tapered nozzle on it for the higher airspeed. It's still a very powerful blower and has been dependable. I want to get an 800C for the side start and ergonomics as I often have to stop the blower to chat with people.

I have a lot of trees and therefore a lot of leaves. After watching a few Main Street videos, my take is that the Stihl blows air more directly out of the nozzle (hence it wins the battery test), whereas the Echo blows in a wider pattern (and loses the battery test but is better at moving leaves). But the stiffness of the Echo tube concerns me a little, and Stihl ergonomics and comfort seem to win out over the Echo. I'm still searching for the right model. @@mainstreetmower I watched part 1 and 2 and found them both extremely informative. I was looking at the Stihl and Husky and both videos really helped. Part 1 really showed the performance side and part 2 the useability. I found a used Husky that I'm going to look at tomorrow. Since I'm 6'5" I would like to try it on as you mentioned it might be a bit small but we'll see. As I'm in Canada, the only wish I have is to be able to buy at American prices. Up here the Stihl is $979.99 and the Husky is $879.99, ouch!

    • @mainstreetmower
      @mainstreetmower  6 месяцев назад +1

      Based on the 2 videos we did on all these blowers (practical testing & theoretical comfort) I think i would have to go with the STIHL. That being said, you should know that I do have a bias for STIHL products only because of how long they have lasted for me.
      If you were just talking about power, the echo might have the edge. However, if speed, productivity, comfort, & fuel efficiency - are the all the factors to be considered, I think STIHL has a big edge over competitors.

    You must be a new blower owner or user which is fine people has to make money to promot a product. Go and try Echo PB9010T for yourself before you make judgment the power of Echo blowers will blow you away they invented the backpack blowers. That why they are taking over and is the Landscape maintenance favorite by far ... Stihl has long ways to go starting with Echo
