- After using both these blowers side by side for a season there is a very clear difference between the stihl br800 and the echo pb9010t. I watched tons of comparison videos on these two blowers. Everyone has there own opinions because we all have different preferences due to many factors such as body builds and size. Dealership support is also a huge deal. Hear me out on my thoughts after using both blowers right next to eachother for a relatively intense spring cleanup season of 2023. 150 lb home owner here with only .75 acre lot but TONS of trees. Went with the Stihl due to the weight/comfort and I liked the design more.
We've run 800's for years now and I was happy with them until they all started running like crap. We got them fixed (all needed carbs) and decided to try the Echo 9010 and I must say theres a big difference in power, not 50% but very noticeable. I'd even dare say it's shaved off probably 20% of our time and not just because of the power difference but things like the longer hose and is more comfortable not having to keep making sweeps over the same areas to get the stubborn stuff out. I agree with a lot of what you said and some things are just splitting hairs which seems to be a thing comparing these two blowers in many videos. I think it's comfortable, weighs about the same, easy to start and less maintenance with no valves to adjust. As far as having too much power for places like flowerbeds....it has a throttle, so just don't blast it on full. I'd much rather have the power and not need it than need the power and it's just not there.
The echos are know for the jet falling out of the carbs on the 9010
Curious what you meant by "running like crap". We just had one that started to lose power after getting hot. No body could figure out what was wrong. Ended up seeing a video of one that had the exact same problem. It was a video from some mechanic. He tried everything and it ended up being a carb issue. He said he never could tell what was wrong with the carb, but once he replaced it, it never happened again
@@TheRonjeremys22 Kind of the same thing, they would all start bogging down after going past half throttle. I took spark arrestors out, changed air and fuel filters and nothing changed. I took a couple to a dealer and all they said was it needed valves adjusted and after getting them back , about 2 days later they'd run like crap again so tried a new carb on one and that seemed to fix it but by then we had these Echo's and parked the 800's
Yea the Sthil has better pinpoint blowing, better fuel efficiency , lighter and quieter. Love it Echo is big and loud. Run synthetic oil never had an issue with plugged exhaust.
For aesthetics, ergonomics, hand controls/blower tube definitely Stihl. For full out performance… that goes to Echo hands-down! I use backpack blowers for moving snow in the winter and I’ve owned both of these blowers. I sold the Stihl and kept the Echo.
I am just a homeowner with a 2 acre lot and tons of post oak leaves in the fall. I picked the Stihl 800 C-E for only one reason: the waist belt takes almost all of the weight off of my shoulders! I always use Stihl ultra oil so I hope the wrist pin bushing will last and so far it has. I also like the side start but most people don't understand the easy start system and RUclips is full of videos with users throwing their shoulders out trying to use it.
They are relatively easy to start when you know how to use them. We use our 800s every day and have had no major engine issues ever. One of ours is about to complete its 4th season of commercial use. The stihl oil is fine, but AMS oil is better and costs less!

I like both and have both. I use the sthil on the chicken farm more, it concentrates the air better for blowing dust off the ceilings in the barns and seems to have less fumes. Been using the echo more while cutting grass though. Can’t go wrong either way in my opinion.
I understand the echo puts out more air, but you can throttle it back with the trigger. You don't have to blast all that mulch out right? Is it worth the price difference with the steel and the echo?Seems to me like the echo is gonna win

I bought the BR450 in October of 2022 and it worked great moving leaves on my acre lot. My biggest CON is i wish I would of went bigger with more CFM or Newtons. I’m buying the BR800x this week and going to sell the 450. I found once the leaves her about 1 foot thick and wet, it was difficult to move. Great show and tips!

That BR 800x is all a person needs. I really like mine. Plenty enough power, light weight and easy to maintain.
The spark arrestor issue using is from using the Stihl 2 cycle oils. We have 8 of the Stihl 800 blowers at work. They all seem to run way better with less issues using the Echo Red Armor oil.
How long is the tube on the echo ?? I 6'4 and would like a longer tube so im not reaching forward. Currently using a champion 63 cc
@wishingiwasfishing8396 I'm not sure how long it is, but it's adjustable, and it would certainly work for a guy your size!
On the echo if you smash the ring on the end of the tube it can be replaced or just popped off and underneath it just plastic and you can bend it back to round they get run over all the time if being used commercially daily. Also when putting the tube on try wd40 to lube it to make putting it together easier. They are tough to put on tho usually we have one person hold it and another put on the new pipe.

Exactly! The regular start is the way to go.
All of my stihl equipment has issues... I currently have 6 blowers, weed waters, etc in need of repair meanwhile my redmax is still going and easier to work on!!
Does the side start allow you to start it after you put it on your back?

I’ve got both a br600 and a br800c …..just for home use but I do about 2 acres of cleanup. A little expensive but after just 2 years of doing fall clean up myself has paid for both of these units.
I have oak trees and some years get a ton of acorns…..strangely enough the 600 does and better job blowing the acorns out of the ground while the 800 blows leafs much better….I picked stihl blowers for the most part because of comfort and stihl products have a pretty good reputation overall. My back isn’t the greatest and a couple hrs of use is about all I can tolerate , the echo 9010 would definitely not fit my abilities!

Good video! I have both, I use the Stihl in the summer for grass clippings and the PB9010 for leaves. Just purchased the Redmax EBZ9000, and it's even better than the Echo. 1245CFM for the Redmax and 1110CFM for the Echo. It is more noticeable than I thought it would be, plus the Redmax is more comfortable. Top Notch Equipment in Elk River carries them if you wanted to check them out.
I was curious about the ergonomics on the EBZ9000. Is the blower tube as stiff as the 9010? I like the Echo, but that tube is very fatiguing during the leaf season...
@@Athonitethe Redmax is similar to the Stihl in my opinion. I liked the tube on the Echo PB8010 way better than the PB9010.
I was told a couple years ago by a dealer that sthil was in the making of a BR- 900. Maybe they will do something for more competition soon. They did invest in a electric back pack..
Yeah, I would expect them to bring something larger to the table here soon.
I just started doing lawns as a business last summer. Used a cheap battery hand held blower to get started, but found the battery life to be complete crap. This last March I found someone selling a Husqvarna 150BT for $175 and it was used only a few times by an elderly couple and they decided it was just too big for them. It has been awesome and has loads of power for its price class and it being put out for residential use. It has more power than even some of the commercial backpack blowers, I just wont expect it to last as long. Whenever I finally end up replacing it im not sure yet what brand or model that I will go with. I dont know if I will stick With Husqvarna or switch, although been really impressed with the PB9010T but dont like the off/on cruise control combo switch.
That on/off switch is terrible. The worst part is that it's opposite the stihl switch, so I kill the echo, trying to set the cruise control.
Yes that would get confusing. To me the Stihl seems better quality constructed than the Echo just visually, Does that seem the case with you? Im asking as I've checked out the Stihl blowers in store but there is no dealers around here with Echo products so I only see them on RUclips.@@bladezllc
That switch is really no issue, i cant even think about having a problem with it.
Just like people complaining about Echo chainsaw on/off switches, after putting it out directly put the position in the on again i dont see/have any problem.
I use the 9010 for fall leaves.The 770 and the hand held for spring and summer. I have a good dealer but he doesn't carry Stihl equipment.
I used the 770 for many years! Those are great machines, they work great all year. Its a really nice size machine! The 9010 is an absolute cannon, it's just obnoxious at times.
I switched from echo years ago. It seemed they would only last one season and then wouldn’t top out on the RPMs anymore, but now steel is starting to piss me off. There’s always a problem with shutting them off something with the switch screws up all the time and you get upflooded out to shut it off. I think I’m gonna try an echo just priced them out today. $650 unbelievable.

I pull the muffler screen off every blower i buy due to carbon and pick up a little more power from my Stihl blowers they seen to run better

Everybody back and forth about what sucks and what not. I can’t stand their 4mix crap but I can at the following about three brands. I have a Redmax eb7001 that turned 21 in November of this year, still runs fine. I replaced the straps that finally gave out. I have a stihl fc85 edger that I bought in 2002 that still runs. I just adjust the lo/hi about once a year. I bought the 8010 almost 5 years ago and it still is awesome and still outblows everything I have compared it to. Buy what you like, where there is good dealer support and what your budget allows.

Great review! Totally un biased, I chose the Pb9010 because I only need or have room for one machine. I also like the simplicity of the 2 cycle engine on the PB . As opposed to the BR with valves to be adjusted, and the PB has a caged needle bearing on the piston pin and the BR uses a bushing.
Spark arrestor getting plugged is from over mixing and running low octane fuel. I repair echos all the tue time because of spark arrestors plugging up. The Echo has more power. But all around the Stihl is a better unit. I see a lot less of them come for repairs.
How purchased the BR 803 years ago and it did great for the first year after that, you have cooperator problems all the time? I even got the valve adjusted at the 2:00 hour limit. Like I was supposed to buy the dealer. And you constantly have a hard time getting it started. And it bogs down over time at this moment. I'm not using it as of today. Because it finally quit which I think is another cooperator issue. I wouldn't buy another one because they just don't last as long if you want a blower. That's gonna last you a very long time with little to no maintenance. Get you A husky five eighty
The Echo is unbeatable for moving stuff. Not even close on the Stihle - we’ve run both. Motor is better to on the Echo no sissy runs, doesn’t die on you for no reason!
I've been catching up on your videos and came across this one. I used to be a red max fan boy till I bought a Stihl br 800x. I found that the Stihl lasted longer than the red max. ( lucky to get two yrs from them power wise) red max had a nice wide swath but Stihl blew ferther.
2yrs ago I bought a echo 9010 man that can blow a lot of leaves but like you said it's big and bulky. I've had some problems with the echo with the tubes and my engine blew in the middle of fall cleanups last yr ( they had a run on engines ) for all around ever day use I go with the Stihl . But for fall clean ups hands down the echos on my back. Love them both.
I couldn't agree more! I feel like if you keep up on the maintenance, they both run well. I'm not expecting the echo to last as long as the br 800s
I'm concerned about longevity too, between Stihl and Echo. Anyone got input on how these blowers hold up after couple hundred hours?
800s are tanks. Been using mine for 5 years. Over 600 hours
17+ years on my Echo PB620 & 2 yrs on my PB9010T. PB9010T is the best blower I've ever used & has ridiculous power!
The stihl s use 4 mix engines and require more maintenance, such as valve adjustments and cam rebuilds.
..... how exactly does one "rebuild" a cam? get serious
adjusting the valves can be done in 10 minutes on the Br - 800x. Easy job.

The 800's have no bearings in the wrist pin so they absolutely require a good synthetic oil to prevent the bushing they use from going bad.
huh.... no wristpin bearings? So what are they using at the piston connection to the connecting rod?

@@404nitro wild I’m used to seeing roller bearings! Never tore a two stroke apart that used an upper connecting rod wrist pin bushing. Neat.
@@chadrides914 I was really surprised to see and hear all this when I watched his videos on the 800. I own one and several other big BP's that are all two stroke.
The Bearing in the upper end of the two strokes are more needed because the engines turn more rpms.
Blend the 2 Stihl's against the 1 echo. Thats 2 against 1, that is not fair. hehehe Echo still wins. punt intended
That 4 mix engine thing to me just does not cut it. Stihl uses a plastic cam and instead of a needle bearing on the piston rust pin it’s a bronze bushing.. big no no
Honda power equipment now uses plastic camshafts in there mowers pressure washers etc. Those engines are tough. Those sthil four mix engines are durable if you use quality oil. I am a fan of echo for sure, but the weight is a problem.
If i paid that much for a blower,id take that back in a second b4 i put screws in the tubing
The br 800 has got 239 mph so it is going to dig stuff much better than the br 700. The br 700 I have to get the tube closer to the ground in order to lift the pine needles out. For the pb 9010t the tube is rigid and you don't want to us it that often because it is loud but it is absolute a beast for leaves. I would go with a 800 for commercial business because I don't need that much power the pb 9010 has the tube is flexible and less noisy than the 9010t.
Why didn't you blow some leaves? That's the most important part 🤔

I got a BR 600 Magnum and the 450 as Backpack blowers and I love both. The 600 seems to have a more focussed air stream which brings the power to a point, its great if your not just blowing leafs. It blows even gravel and rocks if you want it to 😁. The 450 is a pure two stroke not a 4-Mix which I love. I always prefer pure two stroke engines. Handheld blowers I got the old BG 85, the 86 and a Dolmar PB 252.4 that has a four stroke engine. The old 85 seems to be more powerful then the 86. The Dolmar is used almost every day, it is not that powerful as the 85/86 but its much quieter and for just blowing grass after mowing it is absolute great.

Stihl blowers are junk! Just listen to them, they sound like they are running at 1/2 throttle. I had a br 600 years ago, handle was so uncomfortable. You can’t adjust the angle. Echo is the king, straps are multi adjustable and Echo starts unlike stihl. I guess if you’re on the smaller size, maybe under 6’ stihl may work for you but Echo is the way to go if you’re looking for the ultimate blower
Go with Stihl of you want to piss off your neighbors. You can hear them a mile away.

If Stihl beefs it up even more you will be complaining in a new video that you can't finesse the leaves out of beds anymore. I use a battery handheld for mulch beds and my Redmax 8500 for most everything else. If I have a lot of debris like sticks twigs acorns and gumballs mixed with a ton of leaves I grab my Echo PB 9010T. With the Echo and my Redmax I normally take the middle tube off and blow with only the end nozzle attached. Makes sweeping a lot less fatiguing and less weight. I don't have a Stihl blower but I love my Stihl 100RX 4 mix trimmer. I restored it and installed a new motor.
Yeah, there isn't a one blower fits all. No matter what anyone says..

Stihl hands down! The echo is ugly and cheap looking.. you can adjust the tube without taking off and starting up without taking off.

Stihl are Fisher Price toys relying on their chainsaw reputation. Echos outlast Stihl blowers and trimmers. Echos are heavier, more torque, longer lasting.
Echos have a tube that swivels at the housing…stihls dont. Echos have adjustable grip on the tube, stihls do not. Stihl blowers and trimmmers are crap.
