Hi Cody! No, I only remove paintings from their bars if a collector asks. Or, if the painting is very large. I painted a commission that was 48" x 60", and the cost to ship that with the bars was more than $2k because at that size, it was considered freight and would have required a truck to deliver it from me to my collector. So I convinced her to let me remove it from the bars, which brought the price down to around $200. She had it re-stretched once it arrived to her.
Do you mail most of your paintings this way off of the stretcher bars? This was very helpful info.
