It turned out gorgeous! I am going to have to get one of those wedges and give your process a try. It's always fun to stretch our skills. Thank you for sharing your methods. The middle bottom hydrangea was my least favorite in the beginning, but ended up my favorite at the end! :-)
Thank you....funny, that's my favorite hydrangea, too! I think it's the touch of warmth in the pink that sets it apart. Thanks for watching. I hope you'll try it!

Thanks for your question. To be honest, I am generally more concerned with creating a balanced composition and eye flow when it comes to a floral painting like this than I am with intentionally creating a focal point. I can see it, but it is not at the top of my mind. However, if I am working on a landscape, I plan out my focal point and how I want to draw the viewer's eye to a certain area. I do that by use of contrast of value, and sometimes contrast of color as well, and perhaps have things like roads or trees or other items that lead the eye toward the focal point. In the case of landscapes, I do find it to be a more thought out process. Perhaps I will give more thought to focal point in my next floral and see how it changes my approach and the end painting. Thanks for the interesting question.
The wedge is made of very soft and pliable silicone. Palette knives are either metal or plastic and are much sharper and more rigid. I used to use a palette knife a lot, until I discovered the silicone wedge. If I am switching paint colors, I will wipe off the excess paint on my wedge. Hope that helps. Thanks for your questions !🌸

Very beautiful and inspiring 🥰 👏👏 Have you ever painted with Catalyst wedge on mix media paper, 300 grams?
Thank you. Yes, I have painted with the wedge on paper -- acrylic and watercolor papers I believe.
So beautiful! How do you decide about what your focal point will be and how do you establish it. Thx so much. Marilyn.

Beautiful. What is the difference yo using a wedge to a palette knife. And do you wipe the wedge before changing colours.
@kathleen_rietz_artist thank you.i shall be buying one and give it a go.
❤👏
Where do I purchase a wedge please?
Hi there! You can find the silicone wedge at art supplies stores or Amazon.
Gostaria de saber se é possível fazer essa técnica com tinta a óleo?
Yes, I imagine you’d be able to create a similar look using oil paints. Thanks.
