- The Sportage is the first SUV sold in the USA by Kia. On the outside of this 2005 SX trim you will discover 19in wheels, gloss black wheels and roof rails. On the inside you will be greeted by (2) 12.3in screens and panoramic roof. Under the hood is a 2.5L inline-4 mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Is the 2025 Kia Sportage SX a BETTER compact SUV than a Nissan Rogue?

76 - a South Korean girl told me the reason why Hyundai/KIA change, refresh & update their designs/styles so often is the N. Korean peoples are strongly driven competitors & constantly reach for greatness - result is new new new. makes sense. you gave us a Sportage review so I in turn say Thank You - 57
Makes sense for the international markets. But in the States, some people like a timeless design.
North Koreans...?
@@mrnarason I was going on 30 minutes of sleep for the past 1.5 days forgive me
Guess the attention span there is lower. Could do refreshes versus redesign.
I think it’s great. If Hyundai/KIA weren’t in the game, vehicle designs would be extremely lackluster.
We bought a sportage sx+ here in Australia. Absolutely love it. All wheel drive has all the mods and cons that you need. I would highly recommend
I like this exterior, but the 2026 interior is top-notch.
You are absolutely right with Sportage being the OG compact crossover. No one in early 90's had any idea on how to create a compact crossover until original Sportage concept showed up in Tokyo Auto Show in... 92? I forgot. But right after, RAV-4 and CR-V followed the suit after that Tokyo Auto Show. Kia, before going down in bankruptcy in 97 Asian financial crisis, was hell bent on doing crazy projects. They attempted to license MX-5 and it fell apart. So they went and bought themselves rights to Lotus Elan and created Kia Elan. Their B series engines (not Honda's B series engines) also were high revving NA engines (7,500 - 8,000 rpm) that nobody in SK knew how to fully utilize.
Only makes me wonder, if Kia survived 97' and didn't get absorbed by Hyundai, I could only wonder where Kia would be at now. Talk smack all you want about their cheapness or reliability back then (maybe still now), but their growth and passion to break into the motorsports scene was real. Despite their short history, Kia was driven by engineers, not by businessman as Hyundai was. If time and situations were different, what you would see in today's N branded cars, Kia would've done it earlier and perhaps better.
Happy Thanksgiving Joe! Always appreciate the grind my man. Kia has been doing a lot better lately!
Thanks for watching my man and I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
The Kia Sportage is a solid compact SUV! It's got a stylish design, great fuel efficiency, and plenty of tech features. Plus, the interior is super comfy, making it a nice ride for long trips. Happy Thanksgiving
I ended up purchasing the SX-Prestige model for my Girlfriend and she loves it. Great safety tech and easy to drive for hours.
Now that's how you integrate an infotainment screen. Similar to how Chevy does it. Good job, KIA!
And I love that blue. The gloss black around the wheels looks nice, because there's not alot of it.
Glad you are liking the design!
hi JOE . happy thanksgiving or rather STANCEGIVING . love the show .
I had the lower model as a rental car recently. Sport mode really didn’t do anything. When I put the car in that mode I expected more reaction to the car. Seemed the opposite. When you pressed on the peddle it seemed to have a less response than the normal mode which all of us in the car just laughed about. Seats were comfortable. Great for the long drives we were doing. I didn’t care for the big shifter as well. The lower end gets more plastic than this trim (ex. Upper door and arm rest was hard plastic). The design of the plastic was a little different as well. More like a diamond inscribed that resembled snake skin. The knobs on the radio were on the tinier side and made it hard to use with gloves. I think this upgrade model looks better than the trim I had. Just wanted to provide this feedback with my experience with this car.
Great review Joe and hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
I enjoy watching you.
I can’t decide which one I want. The Sportage or the Tucson, I love them both
That is a tough call! I'd love to see which one you go with.
the master piece kia i really love this brand i rather this then the rogue
The New late Model Sportage is beautiful, it's Face upgrade looks like the Sorento the rear lights has been upgraded as well.
my favorite color! 💙
I have a 2024 x line sportage and I'm really enjoying it.
caught my eye this morningwhat I noticed when the sportaga was stopped the light changed the MOVEMENT of the car, why it bounced up to go, never saw a car launch so hard like that, 2025 it was.
@Raiti's been your avid viewer and thanks to those infos and those are pretty helpful. with vehicle technology evolution and updates - i think one section on your reviews is missing which is very important on consumer considerations - advance safety features and actual driver experience with those.
I’m digging the color.
It does pop nicely in the sun
Love your reviews even when I don’t love the car.
$34k seems reasonable. Did you notice the hvac button panel is sort of a matte black? Finally, a car company realized piano black is not a good idea for where people are pressing their grimey fingers.
it show that the kia sportage grew up alot over the years
You are so very right about that Anthony!
Yes of course Joe & I'm really like this vehicle.
Happy Thanksgiving, Joe!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
I would rather take the rogue over any Hyundai POS
Same here!
Enjoy your CVT POS....... I own a new Nissan Sentra with a 6 speed manual, CVT's are absolute GARBAGE.
I have this exact one and I love it.
That is so really great to hear!
Good choice Sportage..YES!!!
I am so glad that you approve!
I LOVE my KIA sportage!
That is so great to hear!
Compared with BMW X3, Audi Q5, Mercedes GLC, Tesla Model Y, Lexus NX, Infiniti QX55, Acura RDX & Genesis GV70
@Joe, Is the Rogue faster than the Sportage?
If you’ve felt like an idiot your whole life - you can go into “Smart Mode” - maybe that might help you out - maybe it won’t” 😂 love your reviews!
That color sexi as hell
2025>2026 model ( except for front-end tailights)
I like what you did there Chris!
Happy Thanksgiving Enjoy Your Turkey.
Nissan Rogue is a better car but the review was awesome as always.
With the junky CVT??? sure lol
The Rouge falls behind work in both hybrid and PHEV.
Nissan CVTs have had no issues within the last 3yrs compared to Kia who have had trouble with their DCTs.
@@mrgurulittle7000 this doesn't have a dct.
Reviews that perform test drives should have people ride in the back seats of vehicles. Both Nissans and Hyundai/ Kia products ride like they don’t have rear shocks.
In this segment how would you compare this Kia to the Mazda cx5? Both with 2.5l engines and both with conventional automatics (8 vs 6 speed)?
Two videos in Thanksgiving?? It's a Raiti's Rides Marathon!🎊
I'm so glad you're enjoying it!
Hidden rear wiper!!!!!
FINALLY!!
What is the other make/model that has it too?
Hyundai Tucson
Rogue Platinum is definitely better in EVERY WAY i recommend people in the market to check it out.
3 cylinder ?? No thanks. Great tech/ looks, but that engine is fit for a motorcycle 😂
No way. Watch ( Car Care Nut) reviews. That rogue variable compression turbo is a disaster waiting to happen. Too many moving parts, too many things that can break
@markwilliams6378 Nissan has already updated engine. Not an issue any more.
@@1989pulsar As long as it's still a variable compression turbo they can keep it.
@TheEasyeman but somehow it makes more hp and tq than this pos 😂
I totally forgot bristle blocks even existed...
Crazy how this car is already “outdated”
Most won’t agree, but I think the rogue is better looking and has more horsepower, even with a CVT that would be my pick. I actually drove a green Tercel years ago! I felt like a coffin on wheels so I didn’t have it long. 😂
Had one for 3 months and traded it in on Stelvio - underpowered was too frustrated on highway by 18 wheelers overtaking me
Thanks for sharing that experience
Was it a hybrid or gas powered Sportage that lacked the power?
Will take this over a CVT any day
On another note Joe I always wondered why you zonked no heated and ventilated seats. Then I realized my 2008 Lincoln MKZ has heated and ventilated seats so at those price points those new cars definitely should have both.
Yes of course Joe & I will buying this vehicle.
I prefer the Nissan Rogue design but do not like the VC engine. I don't mind it's CVT. This has a 2.5 naturally aspirated engine, traditional automatic transmission, and the interior looks nice so I would definitely consider it. The Rouge needs this engine but I think Nissan will just change it to e-power.
I know how you feel about the engine.
I wish Kia didn’t get rid of the Badging for the LX, EX etc
Joe and Lori and Steve keep up the good work real true and I love the video 👍
Good little grocery getter.
You should do an auto show like Sema?
I have sone SEMA.
automotive manufacturers need to quit call hyped up station wagons _ suv cross overs. guess they forgot what suv stands for and means . Like a mini cooper is a upgraded golf cart.
They're powder kegs. The number of Kias/Hyundais still catching fire is just crazy.
Yep. I'm Not a fan.
$34k. Well, at least Kia has a sense of humor.
As well as motor issues
my European Sportage has a tiny trunk 😭
The 2026 version looks WAY better.
I don't see many new Sportages on the roads. Too expensive.
Style is looking like a chevrolet
looks good....trash engines... CRV is a no brainer....the only car that will give you 15yrs plus reliable service...
uggh why glossy black! Do car makers not read any reviews
🤎🤎
that is damn ugly! "modern aggressive style".....lol ..
I won’t buy it if it’s not made in the good old USA 🇺🇸
You do realize even a lot of American carmakers have their cars assembled and/or built in Mexico right? Even the Japanese have the parts made in Japan but have them assembled here
@@chuckxu5910 wait, you commented on another post about Range Rover that you have a Honda Fit made in Japan and that you love it! 🤷🏻♂️
better than the recalled catches on fire honda cr-v
why is he wearing shorts?
Hmmmm... let's think about this one. I live in Florida, it is HOT and it is HUMID. Hmmmm,......
Had to come to RUclips just to say I don’t like this guy. He spends 50% of the video going over the exterior. He talks about fitting fast food in the side pocket. Then calls carbon fiber plastic or metallic. Couldn’t handle him talking
Nissan is about to make people forget Hyundai and Kia lol I'll take a Mitsubishi over Kia anyday. Everytime I take a Hyundai or Kia Uber...no lies....it's the least powerful. Dull suspension. All the model have same ole riding experience.
This is the ugliest Suv in the entire market. Tell me a uglier Suv? Lol
