I've owned a Toyota RAV4 & recently traded my HONDA CR-V EX 2020 for 2024 KIA Sportage SX in Wolf Gray, I'm Amazed!! Best I've ever driven, smooth ride, 12.3 digital screen. Harman Kardon Premium Audio System, 8 Speakers, USB-C / Wireless charging, Memory seats, Driving modes, ETC.... has the same luxury features as my sister's BMW SUV but at a lower price, KIA also gave me free Maintenace, Oil changes, etc for 5 years.. I'm in LOVE!!!
Geez how did you negotiate free oil changes and maintenance?!?
It comes with a free oil change with a new car. Cadillac has a similar benefit for their SUVs like that.
@@IVvOOvVI yes but for 5 years is crazy good!
How did you get those perks? I'm looking to buy one soon.
30 years ago, When I was 8 years old in KR, my dad bought 1st generation sportage. Can not forget my dad’s happy smiling at the first time driving. The 5th generation sportage(NQ5), Looks good and reasonable price, It ranked 4th in KR sales last month(September)
Had a 2011 Kia and had like zero issues with it. Just did regular maintenance. Had over 130k on it and still felt brand new. Will buy another one for sure!
My Dad was gifted a new 2008 Sportage by my mother. But he wasn't able to drive it much. Eventually my mum asked me to take it. I just replaced it with a 2025.
My husband and I just recently bought the 2024 Kia Sportage XLine, Black on Black and we love it! First, it’s only the two of us and it’s not a poor man’s car. It’s a nice luxury compact SUV without luxury prices. It has all the amenities that I asked for, and everything we need without paying BMW prices and BMW maintenance. We love our KiKi. I would recommend it. ❤🙅🏽♀️
That is so wonderful to hear Genell!
I just bought this same model for my daughter. She loves it
it is a beautiful lil suv, BUT the big drawback.....that direct injection engine. the carbon build up is big no no for me. should have multiport for a worry free ride. but thats just my educated 5 cents

@@derekgaliee4351 that does nothing for the intake valve direct injection may be fuel efficient, but the trade off is loss of performance and noticeable engine changes due to the build up of carbon on the intake valve and any residual that lingers and build up over time after you shut off the engine.
Just bought a Kia Sportage LX 2025! Had the same car 2016. It worked great!
We've had 4 kia's in our family, great bang for your buck. Low low maintenance, twice the car for 2/3 the cost of others.

In my opinion, if the fake vents make it look more put together it's fine.... but the Stinger fake hood vents and the Atlas huge fake hole exhaust MAJOR zonks lol
I have an x-line in blue with couple options as a daily and absolutely love it. Speaking of those useless corner vents on front bumper I replaced them with drl turn + signal for 65$ from Amazon and it’s just so much better
a key note I'd like to add. In All of the new Kia refresh models, the doors are reinforced with Baron Steel for safety. Baron steel is the material used to build roll cages for sports cars. Huge point for customers that are looking for Safety as their priority.
Love Raiti’s Rides! My Granddaughter loves watching with me, she likes to zonk things wherever we go lol!

Leasing a 2024 Sportage .
My 4th Kia. 2 Sorentos, 1 Seltos ( cute but didn't like )...and now the Sportage. Taking delivery in November 2023.
KIA.....IS ...KING
Planning on either leasing or buying a 2024 Sportage. It’s really that good huh ?
Their dealers are super shady with all sorts of delivery dramas and hidden charges, hence i gave up buying a Telluride
Good for you. My wife telluride is a garbage car. Too many issues.
Yes..I won't buy locally. The manufacturer/ dealers add 1300-1500 worth of (unnecessary)add- ons along with charging full msrp.
That’s too bad you had that experience. I had an amazing and easy buying experience with my local Kia dealership. I’m sure it is different from dealership to dealership.
I love the shifter and am really happy with it. In the winter it is handy to pop it down to first gear to get help control on slippery descents in town. Makes a great hand rest.
The transmission I’m not keen on at all, it’s ok but it hunts for gears which is probably why it seems sluggish. The vehicle exceeds its EPA ratings, mileage is so much better than advertised.
I agree about the shifter. Those dials are crap.
What kinda mileage you getting? We just bought this today. Same wold grey as in the video.
I love both the stick shift and the auto transmission, no need to worry about crappy CVT's slipping all the time.

Rotary shifter should be in all models.
I own the hybrid version, which does have the rotary shifter. Much cleaner. The environmental controls share the same panel as the stereo, which can be a little distracting while driving and trying to control one or the other. Also, I wish the stereo was a bit better in sound quality. I know you don't test that, but I think it is worth mentioning. The hybrid has a storage area in the cargo bay, where the spare was in the car you reviewed. Overall, for the price point, it is a great car. The hybrid is knocking down 32 mph in mixed driving. Much better than my car. I don't regret purchasing it as a daily driver or for long trips. Great review!
On my Kia EV6, if you long press the stereo/hvac toggle for 5+ seconds, it will then allow you to select a default. I made hvac controls the default. So then, if you switch it to stereo controls, it will automatically go back to HVAC controls after 5 seconds. Since this control looks nearly the same as my EV6, I'm guessing that this will work in the Sportage as well.
Thanks, I'll try that.

Rotary dial shifter should be in all models. That shift knob is so dated.
do you have the harmen kardon though?
I like the traditional shifters. I think it gives you a good control, feeling the knobs and the buttons they cool and modern but I like to rest my hands on the shifter
I agree. I have the 2023 Sportage SX Presige and prefer the look and feel of the shifter over the knob.
No, the rotary dial shifter is a must.
Joe has the best intro from all the other car reviews.
I bought the KIA NIRO in 2017 -- when they had only been in GA for ~3 weeks. I didn't MEAN to buy a new car, just to look the NIRO over: I was dubious about a car built on a subcompact chassis (ex-ambulance worker, scraped a couple folks up off the highway with a teaspoon: so, small cars = bad!) But, oh! test drove the lovely blue one and bought it! That makes it running up on 7 years old! Brilliant brilliant brilliant car! I ADORE it! Delight to drive! I can get 20 bags of mulch in the back, and I average 57 mpg! (Traded a great 3-yr-old Sonata Sport in the deal!)
I am VERY unhappily looking around at ICE cars... the end of the world is coming, the next ice age began about 8-10 years ago, and will essentially move Chicago weather down here to GA. Plus, KIA warranty on the EV batts is only ten years... Figure I need to get an ICE, 4DW, heavier baby-SUV to last me the next ten+ years... (I'm old; dunno if I'll make it through the oncoming hell!) Thanks for the good reviews Raiti! They're the right kind of info!
Will also look at the Corolla Cross, cause I like Toys, but not the RAV...
“Rubbing your wood” is crazy 😂

Now my 1st new Kia Sportage SUV I can buy.
Gravity Gray with Sage Green 2024 X-Line, bought it Saturday and love everything about it. I'm curious if the auto-start/stop feature will actually save any gas money. I am completely impressed with how quickly it can start the engine and get me through the intersections though. It's also my fist sunroof. I have to say, not bad at all for a first one. I love being able to glance up at the night sky knowing the car is going to stay perfectly centered in the lane. Auto high beams are just freaking awesome too. The smart power liftgate option is also worth it, just make sure you turn it on in the settings if you want to use it. This is the droid I've been looking for. No doubts.
Can that auto stop-start feature be turned off?
@@jimh4005 it turns back on each time you start the car. It's annoying that way.

I think Raiti's Riders videos are the best out there. That being said, the biggest problem with these videos is that you pose a question asking if one vehicle is better than the other and you never answer that question. We never get your professional opinion on which vehicle is better. You leave it up to the comments section.
CRV all day every day of the year, im very happy with my 2023 CRV sport touring the best part is I will get good money when I sell it for sure, can not say the same with Kia's so the decision was easy for me willing to buy a Pilot in the future, love Honda Brand!!!!!

Gr8 for the $$ but Kia has to shake or change the reliability issues in order to truly compete with the market leaders CRV/RAV4.
Kia is is among the leaders in the JD Power dependability study for about 5 years now. The number one main stream brand for 3 of them.
Exactly. Constant engine replacements and in general poor build quality in long term ownership

Sportage is very pretty but when you buy a Honda/Acura you pay for a premium and reliable Engine not just the interior, there is no comparison between a Hyundai/Kia with Honda and Toyota in that aspect.

Love the shifter. Can’t stand any turn knobs or buttons for shifting the transmission and I don’t like all the touch screen stuff , that’s where the knobs and buttons should be. Touch screens take your eyes off the road and distract the drivers attention for to long I’ve used them before and it felt dangerous

Heck no to the rotary shifter idea! I got a Telluride and one of the selling points was the old fashioned stick shifter. It’s so intuitive. I’ve driven cars with rotary shifters, piano key shifters (Lincoln Aviator), and electronic bump shifter (BMW x5) and I hated them all. Nothing as easy and intuitive as an old fashioned stick shifter.
I love the t shifter
Looking at the sportage again. I value your opinion. Do you prefer this vehicle or a Cadillac XT4? I know the Caddy is more money but I dont see much difference otherwise except the turbo.

Bought a 2023 sportage hybrid lx for sticker price in August 2022. At time every Kia dealer I checked in NYC area was getting at least $2000 above msrp. One morning at about 2am a had a notion to check the website of a dealer who had asked for the $2000 uncharged. Advertised the hybrid lx at msrp with no dealer add on! Took a buss from brooklyn and got there at 9:00 am to be told the car had been sold. No surprise . Told dealer that this was not proper because internet vehicle did not carry vin or stock niumber. He asked for a few thousand deposit and a 5 or 6 week wait until another hybrid lx was due in. In August 2022 I paid balance in cash and drove car home. Was even in the dark Grey which I wanted. Amazing room , teriffic safety features, great acceleration and mileage at or near 40 mag.
Oh wow that is crazy Drew! Thank you for sharing that experienece!
I have to say I'm impressed. But imo (which dont count for much) id stick with mazda with either the cx 5 or 50. Thanks Joe as always for the superb review!
I have CX5 and the Sportage and the Mazda has a smoother, quieter engine. Other than that the Kia has far better handling and acceleration. The cabin controls including tech controls and screen quality is miles better on the Kia. The Mazda rotary is ridiculously stupid compared to Kia controls. Kia just has smarter design throughout whereas the Mazda feels anachronistic. Kia's achilles is the GDI. The fuel injectors make a noise. It's silenced well inside the cabin but the GDI has a noise to it instead of the smooth purr of the Mazda engine. Doesn't reflect on engine performance but it's noticeable between the two. However imo the old poor design of the infotainment and cabin controls along with better handling wins out. I'm not buying these cars for racing performance. I also don't plan on driving these for 15 years. I'll sell it and get a new car before then. Considering all above, the Kia wins out.
Facts. The inside cabin is beautiful on the Kia,the Mazda seems outdated from 2012.
I love our daughter’s Mazda! Drives like my way more expensive German babies. All I think with all the touchscreen is FINGERPRINTS EVERYWHERE!
@factsmatter8258 you should try driving a Sportage if you think Mazda is similar to German cars. My CX5 drives like a boat compared to my Sportage.
@@trex1448 Well said. I love it how people buy lesser grade vehicles than the Sportage and Tucson based upon a notion of engine reliability. 90% of such people won’t have the same vehicle in 10 years or far less regardless of what brand they buy.

Good to see my initials on it but opposite direction KN (NK)
The hybrid is the one to buy it has 227 hp with turbo and is quick with the ev mode
I went with the Sportage hybrid over the Honda because you get more goodies for your money and as well, you get a spare tire in the Kia, while the Honda does not have it in their hybrid.
Thanks Joe, always enjoy your very informative reviews and humor. I am awaiting the 2025 plug in to see what changes occur in either the Sportage or rav4.

@@MikeKayK 1st after pulling off the lot, I realise there were electrical problems because the chargers both wireless and wired would be flickering when i put on my phone, it lights up then drops off like every 2secs, i had to take it back and they put in a brand new charging port system. Then, the car would go into neutral before it accelerates. So, if I'm trying to pull out of a roundabout when it's suppose to say go from 1st to 2nd gear, it neutrals revs out at least 3secs have me idling in the middle of the street before dragging then, shifts into 3rd. I didn't know what was going on so I just always brought it back saying its stalling but, my son who is studying engineering technology who drives with me almost every morning saw what was going on and explained it to their technician, they did something [reteach transmission] they said but, that didn't go for too long before it slipped right back and almost got me killed pulling out of a roundabout. Then, the engine started making these clanging noise like when you're driving a wagon 😳 I had to take a video of that session, because that was crazy. I couldn't take it anymore 😪 I just got a non starter but, I realised just 2days ago I speak now, 2 of my insurance agents has issues with theirs and the female sold her brand new vehicle after only 2mths and its also a 2023. I see more and more of these out there on the road. Seeing more CRVs than Accords too. Is this as reliable as Honda? Nah. Better tech and more stylish? Yes. The CRV hybrid and handling is spot on though.
I just bought this car to replace my 2007 Santa Fe. The mistake I made with the Santa Fe is that I didn't trade it in about 6 years ago when the car was about 10 years old. Every week I would get an ad in the mail from Hyundai asking me to do a trade in deal for it due to demand. The car became a money sink after that (probably due to NJ weather and roads more than anything...tbh) But the lesson I'm taking from that is this new sportage I might only hold on to for that 10 year period and cash in on the trade in for another new ... something. So I'm hoping that it's "reliable enough" and not expecting it to be the number 1 most reliable thing on the road. Which is a tall ask imo. Vehicles only last so long no matter what their rating.
My father owns an older CR-V. They don't seem to have changed much in the last 5 years or so. I honestly didn't like his car. The body in general felt flimsy. Probably is what aides to the noisy interior. And the design is very boxy imo. Very, um...basic? It just has an ECO budget look and feel to me. It's probably a work horse i'm sure but this Kia Sportage just seems and feels miles ahead of the CRV to me in driving experience.
@@Novaximus So true. The current generation CR-V finally has a nice look though IMO. Nothing near the Sportage level though to be sure. The interior of the Sportage blows embarrasses the Honda which is also quite bare bones for tech. To date, Honda and Toyota have cut corners on aesthetics and the plastics they use are indeed very flimsy.
