Power packed for deep drop fishing
Furuno's DFF3 is a network sounder featuring FDF (Furuno Digital Filter) signal processing technology. The DFF3 is designed for use with NavNet, NavNet VX2, NavNet 3D, NavNet TZtouch and NavNet TZtouch2. This digital Network Sounder can turn any NavNet display into a powerful, dual-frequency digital fishfinder. The compact network sounder unit connects directly to a NavNet display or an Ethernet hub with a single Ethernet cable. If it is connected to an Ethernet hub that has multiple displays attached, each of those displays will have access to the Network Sounder.
The sounder itself has a selectable 1, 2 or 3kW output power. You may choose any two operating frequencies from 28 to 200 kHz with FFS (Furuno Free Synthesis) technology. With the powerful DFF3, you can obtain detailed echoes of bottom structure and fish using range scales of up to 3,000 meters (nearly 10,000 feet). And because the Network Sounder is used on a NavNet display, you will also be able to use its Radar and Chart Plotter features depending on which unit you have.
Furuno Digital Filter (FDF™) Fish Finder
Furuno Digital Filter (FDF™) Fish Finders feature advanced filtering capabilities and digital auto tuning, which eliminates noise. Furuno FDF Fish Finders deliver the ability to spot individual fish with clarity, accuracy and detail. Whether in shallow or deep water, Furuno FDF Fish Finders give you what you would expect from a Fish Finder at all times.
Know more about the fish under your boat
Furuno’s award winning network Fish Finders offer a unique fish size analyzer function, ACCU-FISH™. The ACCU-FISH™ algorithm analyzes echo returns to compute individual fish size and display it on the screen.

Just installed a DFF3 on my buddy's panga down in Mexico. Had to rely on this video for basic wiring info because there wasn't anything in the installation booklet that came with it. Ironically after wiring it I ran across clear installation instructions in the Operating booklet Funny place for it to be. Last place I looked. Had to reopen the box to properly ground the shielding to the box. I found I had to, "Use the force" to figure out exactly how to run the cables and what cables actually needed to be used. No job is easy and this was no exception. Got it up and running with minimal problems.

Nice work, but I wish you had shown how you ran the three cables

Pulling the cables was pretty easy on this boat. SeeVee provides lots of space. We used the original transducer cable to pull in a new nylon messenger back from the console like we did in the radar cable installation episode. Then I taped the three cables to the nylon messenger and pulled them up to the console by myself...no major work required.

James, this is a great idea and we will try to put together a short episode showing this from extra footage that we have. Thanks for the idea!

Purchased a DFF3 by accident and was hoping I could use it to complement the DFF3D already installed, still not sure about cross talk though

It sure doesn't look that impressive. The only impressive part is that the sales pitch ran the entire 13 minutes with only a few seconds of video of the actual screen. I'm NOT IMPRESSED at all.
