we saw in the tournament of power how he handles opponents much stronger than he was due to his battle experience and cleverness. Although he isn't as powerful here, he could still win with little effort if they only attacked in teams of 1 or 2.
I think you're discounting one of the biggest advantages of Roshi here. Sure his overpowered attacks require time to charge, but his regular attacks alone are around the level of high akatsuki, and with basic kamehameha are amped. SO he stays relative in AP and Durability. Which means what decides this is skill and experience. Roshi at the end of DB would have: - The ability to read minds which he did against Nam - The ability to hypnotize people with sensory suggestion which he did to both Man Wolf and Goku - Pressure point attacks that KO'd Krillin and completely paralyzed Man Wolf - Pseudo-UI which he tried to teach to Goku at young age, though he can seemingly only use it defensively, but it proves the point of experience And the thing with the RR is mainly the sheer scope of fighting that many people that long. Not the same as high intensity repeatedly. Just because he can't run a marathon doesn't mean he can't do a series of sprints or one mega-sprint. I also don't think he can *only* do 1 attack in the buff form, but maybe at that time only 1 ki attack, since they get explosively enhanced. Either that or he can handle multiple physical attacks in his max form but full power is the "all gone" form.
This seems really Misleading, As Roshi lacks superior technique compared to the ninjas. And I would also like to point out that one of the ninja's biggest Advantages is their Proven Intellegence as seen in the show. while many say roshi has "Battle experience" thats mostly in martial arts/Taijutsu, And A select few Ki Techniques. There are not many instances where roshi Deals with a Unique Ability that's not straightforward to my awareness. *As such, I am not here debate, only to shed a little light on what my research found on Each subject and the context of Roshi vs the akatsuki overall. Keep in mind I am not going to cover base stats or "Blitz" arguments as I am not a fan of the stomp or spite threads such assumptions create.* - I can't speak on the Ability to read minds. this one is a *good point*. - The hypnosis/Sleepy-Boy technique, seems to work VERY similar to genjutsu. Despite this, one can use physical pain to prevent themselfs from falling asleep, A way to deal with genjutsu taught in the ninja world, Not to mention the genjutsu cancel, or sharingan's General Resistance to techniques Like this, with a good example being that an uchiha could likley resist the feather Illusion jutsu. *Conclusion: This Technique Has counters and is Outclassed by Genjutsu: Sharingan.* - Roshi does have a one up here (Assuming this preassure point attacks is a technique of sorts and not just dragon ball logic), but do note that in the context of this being used against the akatsuki, it would *Not* work on most of them due to their *Non-Humane bodies or special abilities* This includes Kazuku, Sasori, Konan, Itatchi's susanoo (Yata Mirror), And Obito (Kamui.) - Roshi ONLY emulates UI in the manga. Really good points, Roshi has a decent bag of hax. Aside from that, a hit from Roshi has enough power to one shot most of the members. Lonk comparing an entire Red Ribbon army vs a dozen or so Akatsuki members is a little flawed too, he might not have the stamina to take an army but for the Akatasuki he'd have enough stamina. How I see this going is, he one-shots the weaker members with standard hits and then deals with the last few standing with more powerful attacks
Since roshi uses ki, his offence is comparable to his defense, unlike ninjas. Meaning that if roshi gets to them he could snap them with a finger and most attacks would bounce off roshi, so he wouldnt need to dodge most of them. Stamina wouldnt be an issue since he would only need single hit per member, plus he has way better technique and experience so they dont seem to have any chance.
even worse, dude can catch point blank machinegun fire. there is nothing in Naruto capable of that speed in repetition besides teleporting, and there's only 2 people capable of instant teleporting, with one being dead and the other no longer able to due to bad eye surgery.
I think that Samehada could absorb ki. Since it's basically the same thing as chakra. (physical and spiritual energy molded into something.) Just like Genki is basically nature energy, and Shinjutsu is god ki.
There is one technique, Deidara's C4 I think it's called? Basically he makes a Clay explosive that looks like it was a dud, but what it actually did was make microscopic explosives that you would inhale as you breathed, only lightning nature can negate it, which is something DBZ characters are not privy too
You forgot that Kamui explicitly has a weakness in that it's very limited in terms of how long it can be used for, which is why Obito had to rely on Izanagi to survive Konan's attack. And Roshi is a man who's forgotten more about Martial Arts than most people will ever learn. He's seen it all and he's even seen things no one else has seen, with dozens to hundreds of different techniques that we never saw because they simply wouldn't have worked on someone like Goku... but they'd work on the Akatsuki. Also important to note that nothing that works by manipulating Chakra (genjutsu or Kisame's draining abilities) would work on Roshi whatsoever, as he doesn't have any (and no, Chakra isn't Ki, it started off as just Ki by a different name yes, but then they made it explicitly an alien thing). The Akatsuki can only win by going after him all at the same time, and they'd still take heavy losses from doing so for several reasons, not least of which is an inability to work as a cohesive team. If they go two at a time, he'll just dismantle them two at a time. He's far superior in terms of physical stats, the instant disable techniques wouldn't work and they'd need to work on trying to drain his stamina, which wouldn't work very well if they don't go all at once because Roshi is very much an expert and would pace himself and not use more power than he absolutely has to on each pair, and Pain's the only one that would actually make him exert himself. Alternatively... Konan and/or Pain's female body win the fight easily. Just show booba and Roshi will be distracted.

Itachi has lightspeed Jutsus (faster than DB Roshi) and Kamui is passive, it can't be outsped. Plus, if Itachi starts with his Susano'o there is literally nothing Roshi can do to stop him, the Yata Mirror is immune to physical and spiritual attacks and the Totsuka Blade seals anything it pierces. All this on top of the fact Roshi has shown no resistance to Mind Hax or temperatures hotter than the sun and we have a Smurf situation

The Hakai ball that Frieza used on Goku. Goku is stronger than that Hakai ball. It’s been shown countless times it will take me an entire essay to tell you it. Also, Roshi is faster than all Naruto characters combined, get Itachi above solar system level.

He is not TOUCHING Solar System level unless you think OG Dragon Ball Roshi is taking Super Perfect Cell. 2. Not once in the Dragon Ball franchise is it ever stated that being stronger than your opponent cancels their haxes. In the DBS Manga Hit says that HIS TIMESKIP is being shortened because Goku is stronger; that means his Timeskip specifically has the weakness that it will not work against stronger opponents. Unless explicitly stated that the characters are able to negate hax abilities in general via strength, then the hax abilities showcased just have a unique weakness that they do not work against stronger opponents. The same goes for Hakai Energy. Hax by nature are abilities that exist outside of strength, speed, and durability, and so Hax being bypassed by those stats mean that the Hax itself is weak, not that the character can resist all Hax. Characters have to showcase or have stated resistance to haxes in order to be resistant to them. And 3. OG DB Roshi is Moon level at max using a technique he can only use once before being completely drained, and Relativistic, which is slower than lightspeed.
My only gripe is I believe Itachi knows Kisame enough to get out of dodge when he starts going crazy mode. Giant water arena etc. I'm sure they have discussed this technique and have a strategy for using it.

@@devilsadvocate243 That would be true for the other members but like mentioned Kisame actually cared about itachi and trusted him his life. They were friends and had loyalty for eachother. Their styles were opposite and they both complimented eachothers weaknesses. Itachi trusted him enough for Kisame to know about his bad health in which Kisame would look out for his wellbeing on a regular basis.
I don't think Roshi's stamina is _as_ bad as not being able to fight all the members of the Akatsuki at once. With the Red Ribbon Army, they have a large base that has to be traversed, battle suits and androids that are stronger than their usual footmen, commanders that could keep up at least somewhat with Goku, etc, etc. Plus Goku didn't wipe out the entirety of the army; he only fractured its central leader positions (hence why Dr. Gero survived and the remnants seen in Super Hero still existed). Roshi was pitting himself against the _entire_ RR army, and even then was only "not sure" if he could have done so, instead of knowing if he couldn't 100%. Against the Akatsuki, he is one shotting pretty much over half of the team, leaving him with Kisame, Itachi, the Pains, and Obito as his main opponents. Against around half a dozen opponents assumedly in a more open area, his stamina should hold up a lot better than it would fighting an entire army within their own base.
Roshi also consistently understates his own ability publicly. The people he was speaking to don't know he was Jackie Chun. They don't know how strong he was
I agree pretty much with Lonk. And that just has to do when major power creep kicks in. I mean yes kid goku does get vastly stronger from when he started, but it's not even close to what he is compared to start of DBZ or even during the saiyan saga. Meanwhile Naruto suffers from huge power creep starting from the chunnin exams, just compare how strong zabuza is compareed to akutsuki later and they should technically at this point be roughly the same strength from a lore point of view. Even kakashi at that time is vastly weaker then he is later. Honestly speaking prior to watching the video I expected DB roshi to get giga stomped especially with all the hacks that the naruto universe has and that Roshi never grew in strength in DB. While power creep affected everyone else in both the DB and naruto universe.

Roshi solo's akatsuki easily. One thing thay we often forget in these comparisons is that all these ninjas can easily killed by a knife to the chest. Try knifing Roshi and the knife won't even leave a scratch.

Dragon ball characters, when not caught unawares, have their attack potency and durability scale relative to each other. A planet destroyer will be able to survive an attack with that level of power, provided they aren't exhausted/fatigued.

Roshi can destroy the entire moon with a kamehameha WAY back then. Nowadays he could do more damage than that. I wouldn't call Roshi planetary but he is Moon + Level. Also he might be just a little bit too fast for any akatsuki to handle. Before you go "but special abilities"it is canon that ki can be used to protect yourself from special abilities.
the extent on Ki being able to protect yourself from special abilities is unclear though. its VERY clear that ki won't protect you or stop certain things MAGIC related from happening (majin buu absorption, Moro, Etc. for the sake of debate though, I would like to know what special abilities you're talking about. I think its moreso dragon ball's terrible logic that ki and raw strength are everything moreso then Ki having a full on protective quality, not to mention the strongest ki techniques in dragon ball currently are ones that aren't about raw power (Ultra instinct, forced spirit fission, automatic erasure abilities, etc.) : D

That moon busting was when he was seriously tried from fighting goku then he randomly transformed to great ape and all the energy he had made a max power blast with that shot destroying the moon. However there is a guide book saying a roshi at that time at fukl oower could easily destroy planets and his full power had the energy to power a star. Plus there is the hand to knowledge which he has over them all ao if they got close they would be at a disadvantage
He wasn't just very tired. He had already used the Thunder Shock Technique before he gathered enough power to destroy the moon. He was pretty much at his weakest.
Master Roshi should have a similar attack potency like Naruto as they're both Moon busters. I would say whatever Naruto is able to do Master Roshi could do the same maybe even slightly better.

Naruto is much more higher than moon lvl. With a simple rasengan, naruto destroyed Tenseigan Golden Sphere Barrier chakra in the moon. With toneri mention that this attack tank the collision of the earth with the moon. Simple rasengan = small planett lvl
You missed that in dragonball if you are stronger than the other person then hax usually don’t work or are nerfed. Roshi is on a completely different level of power than any of them
that only applies to ki hax in dbs, in any verse where they have hax that arent fodder (like amrvel or dc) even a planet tier reality warper would casually solo the verse
Master roshi could probably wipe all them out in a single attack due to a data book confirming he has the power to power a large star, however we don’t know what he would do against Genjutsu and Tobi’s invincibility. They could keep up with Roshi’s speed and Roshi isn’t particularly agile so they could likely take care of him before he reaches max power, which he would most likely go for due to the ridiculous power increase and how outnumbered he is.
Genjutsu is only known to affect people with Chakra and since Roshi doesn’t have any, it won’t even scratch him. A few of the akatsuki COULD give him a challenge, but Kisame would be powerless since he can’t absorb Ki the same way he does Chakra. Itachi wouldn’t do much to him at all either. Sure Roshi isn’t necessarily strong against Aerial attacks and he’s not the fastest but I doubt that would do too much to him. The only way he could lose in this context is his perversion, so ideally Konan or Pain’s female form could take him down.
So instead of going with the ultimate blitz that is "Super Roshi" - we're going with the DB Roshi that has been seen breaking moons and rarely fighting at full power. The best example of full power DB Roshi is actually his fight in the DBZ Movie: Worlds Strongest, when he takes on multiple threats at once and is able to rather easily defeat everything - with the exception of the weird abilities they had and the fact they "out powered him". Roshi should be able to solo the entire Naruto universe at his full power from DB / DBZ and Super.

I feel like roshis battle experience would help him take out kamui, in the case of itachi i think roshi can handle genjutsu because he has been through similar training to goku, and goku overcame genjutsu when going after the ultra divine water, tsukuyomi also wouldnt be too bad since he could brute force it and amatarasu is kinda unpredictable, he could lose to it or take him out before he can use it, pretty OP. Id like another video on just pain though and all their abilities, seems like hed have a tough time taking them out to me. Edit: someone in the comments pointed out that genjutsu only works on people who have chakra which is true.
I don't think he could break Tsukuyomi tbh, it's potencey is layered as Tsukuyomi > Ms Genjutsu > Sharingan Genjutsu > Genjutsu that negged like 600 People. That along with Tsukuyomi being a literal mental universe where Itachi controls all things makes me think it's a bit out of Roshi's paygrade.

This is a great versus battle and concept not often discussed. I agree with the conclusion though there are arguments for it being the other way as well which is what makes a good concept vs question.
The fact that roshi was strong enough to be in the tournament of power fighting against people who could destroy galaxies with ease just shows that roshi could wipe the floor with entire Naruto verse. Should’ve watched the full video sry.
Roshi wasn't sent because of his power. He was sent because of his Tournament, and martial arts knowledge. being a the man who has probably won more Tournament setting battles than anyone. He has some great feats of strength for sure. but he was calling shots more than anything. this is also why I dont think the Akatsuki could beat him. His strength, martial skill, and ability to understand and figure out his enemies abilities very quicky make him unbeatable by anyone in naruto. The ONLY thing that could kill him would be a soul manipulation jutsu. BUT DBZ characters are able to surround themselves with their ki making a second layer of skin almost. you have to have more output than the barrier to damage the person. So those would be void as well as not even a tailed beat bomb could overpower a DBZ character ki barrier.

I just wanna comment on how tsukoyomi or any genjutsu for that matter, will never work against characters outside the naruto verse. Genjutsu works as injecting chakra into another person, meaning, if u wanna use genjutsu on someone, u gotta inject ur own chakra onto them. Chakra comes from the tree that kaguya ate. That fruit, basically altered the human body to create the seal thing(as seen as when guy enters 8 gates) and those things basically allow you to have chakra. As all the characters outside the naruto verse cannot have this seal, this would mean that chakra cannot exist in their body, henceforth, genjutsu cannot work on them.
Actually,it was sorta retconned that chakra EXISTED before the tree,just that ppl couldn't access it as they didn't have the knowledge to do so,until Hagoromo came around and taught everyone how to use it,the reason kaguya says it "her" chakra is because Otsotsukis see planets they have planted a god tree on as theirs to absorb Along with all of it inhabitants chakra even tho it technically not hers
Even if it works on roshi, he can fight without using sight. ALL Z FIGHTERS canonically can read the battle without using sight. In DBZ especially, if you pay attn you will see so many Z fighters like Tien/yamcha/roshi/gohan/piccolo being able to literally see exactly what is happening in a battle from miles away. There's many scenes where the Z fighters were in random places and being able to tell exactly who was fighting and where and what was happening .Roshi would literally be able to fight the same level of effectiveness using energy sensing alone so genjutsu wudn't work on him with his eyes closed
"dragon ball roshi" is moon level and dragon ball super roshi is at least large planet level, since he trained and was fighting in the tournament of power

lol so correct me if I'm wrong, but Obito (while the Akatsuki is still all in one form, so in his "Tobi" form) has a pretty big hole in his character, that being his hubris granted to him by the Kamui. I have no doubts that Roshi would be able to charge up the Mafuba and seal Obito in that little vial. Obito would have nothing to fear based on the encounters he's witnessed so far so he would likely just let Roshi do it to try and grandstand himself as a big middle finger, which would immediately backfire lol. The question then would become, can Kamui help Obito escape the Mafuba? Can he travel through multiple dimensions? In Dragon Ball Super, Fused Zamasu, someone infinitely stronger than anything the Naruto universe could possibly bring to the table, isn't able to teleport out of it so it's pretty concrete that it's a flat lockdown technique. I'd wager that it wouldn't limit Obito's Kamui dimension, but would probably limit the area he can come back to as being just inside the vial. The main problem would be Itachi imo just because Roshi has no real way to deal with the Tsukuyomi unless chakra-based techniques don't affect Ki users. Assuming that it doesn't, Roshi 1-taps because Itachi can't cope with lightspeed which Roshi clearly is by that point in the story, being on par with a future iteration of Goku like you demonstrated. Itachi wouldn't likely even get to the point of using the Susano'o and either the Totsuka Blade nor the Yata Mirror because he's sick and dying and wouldn't want to push himself that far, but even then Roshi can still break through any of the earlier forms of the Susano'o since it has a huge opening (hence why Gaara was able to pull Madara out of his with the sand) and just deck Itachi in the face, destroying his eyes in the process. But Itachi likely wouldn't even resort to Susano'o just because he thinks he doesn't need to. After all, from what he'd have seen out of Roshi by this point in the encounter, there's no reason for Itachi to think Roshi is any more of a threat to him than someone like Sakura. That being said, then the only members who are a problem either way are Kisame and Pain. While not canon, Roshi does have experience dealing with multiple opponents via the World's Strongest film, but again not canon so it's up for debate. So him getting jumped by all the Pains could be the end. Conversely though, Dragon Ball has a standing rule where the stronger character's technique wins "because." So with that in mind, Roshi might be able to just outrun or outmuscle the gravity based attacks that Pain can dish out. He 1 taps the other 5. But Pain wouldn't want to get close and would have to keep Roshi mid-air because if Roshi hit the ground he could dart away when the attack is finished, he could jump at moon-level strength and lightspeed to rip Pain in half, etc etc. The only real option is keeping Roshi mid-air, but even then they would still need an attack that can harm his Ki-powered body, since Ki boosts a character's strength but also durability. Roshi would barely break a sweat against any of the members he beats handily so he'd have plenty of Ki to spare by this point, unless he already performed the Mafuba in which case he might be in trouble. Amaterasu would also do the job handily here. Kisame is the only member I can see going toe-to-toe with Roshi and possibly pulling out the win because of Roshi's innate humanness giving him a massive disadvantage underwater, but Kisame would have to keep his distance because Roshi could still 1-tap him if he got close. The smart play is for Kisame to keep Roshi in the bubble while keeping his distance, but honestly that's not that good of a strategy either since Kisame stays in the center of the technique. If Roshi used his superior muscle strength to push himself downward, he can still kick off the ground and essentially hit Kisame with the Dragon Fist like Kid Goku did to Piccolo, same scenario as what I said about Pain. Roshi would be immensely stronger than Might Guy comparatively, at least based on the speed alone. Kisame's only viable strategy would be to use the shark bombs to keep Roshi in a neutral spot, Ironically enough, Konan might be able to pull it off with some paper bombs after Roshi finds out she's a woman. Take advantage of his womanizing nature and get in real close, then do what needs to be done. This is all assuming chakra doesn't work on Ki users though. If it does, then Roshi gets stopped pretty handily by Itachi unless Roshi's sunglasses can somehow prevent the genjutsu lmao.
I think you forgot that sharingan allows the user to cope with attacks at inhuman speeds. Assuming it's just hand to hand combat, Itachi can fend off Roshi's attacks to some degree

Keeping up with 5th gate Rock Lee (which would be the fastest canon event in the story by this point with every Akatsuki member still alive, if I recall) is a big step down from literal lightspeed. And Roshi can go that fast on a whim, when it broke Lee to go even a fraction of that speed. Perhaps it wouldn't be a complete and total wash but I still think Roshi takes it pretty cleanly, provided Tsukuyomi doesn't work on Roshi like I said. I don't think base Sharingan would make enough of a difference to push my theory in another direction.
@@adrianc2463In the chunin Exams Kakashi showed Sasuke that just because the Sharingan could perceive an attack didn't mean the user had enough speed to react to it. The speed difference between Itachi and Roshi is so vast that Itachi would just see his unavoidable death in slow motion.
This seems pretty accurate, Roshi is really strong but he doesn't have the stamina or hax to deal with the Akatsuki. Honestly, Itachi, Obito, and Pain could maybe even just beat him 1v1 if they instant-hax him to death. And they can be scaled even higher than this, as some calcs but Pain's Chibaku Tensei at Continent Level and there are multiple statements for 1/2 Kurama being Planet Level, which you can argue would upscale Obito and maybe Itachi and Pain (those two are a bit more questionable). They could also have a speed edge depending on how you calc certain stuff. All of that along with the massive numbers advantage they have and all the tricks up their sleeve makes me think they would beat him in most scenarios. It’s very unlikely for Pain, Obito or Itachi to land those win conditions, either way. The speed and power difference is so big that they’d just get crushed, like how V2 Naruto utterly manhandled Pain.
@@r.a.s6410 There are multiple Planetary statements for Kurama, and seeing as the mention the world and earth it would be up to you to prove that they are meaning society. Kurama and Bee also have a Multi-Continental feat so it isn’t inconsistent for them to be that strong. Obito also made the Kamui dimension (databook says he made it) which is most likely a planet considering he uses it to teleport around the earth. Chibaku Tensei can be at Continental which is consistent with the Bijuu’s power. Itachi, Pain, and Obito are all significantly above FTL as well so Roshi’s speed isn’t enough.
Not a single akatsuki member scales to relativistic speeds. The two fastest ones are pain and itachi which are both sub relativistic, even if you low ball roshi as much as possible he still completely blitzes every single one of them. The only way you'd beat him is by obito kamui (even minato who's slower than roshi dodged it in time) or itachi amaterasu hitting (which we know sub relativistic speeds characters can dodge, ie. A the 4th raikage) but I don't think even if it did, it matters considering how ki works in DB. Konan, hidan, kakuzu, deidara and kakuzu would be 1 shot, it's not even close. Every "hax" in DB can be negged by having stronger ki than your opponent (or at least, the attack in question). Vegeta negged babidi's mind control, Freeza negged hakai energy, it's no stretch saying roshi who's a LOT stronger than itachi or pain could neg the amaterasu, tsukiyomi or pain's soul stealing. He could trick most (if not all, but let's be charitable towards dojutsu users) of the akatsuki simply using zanzoken. If kisame tries to drown him (which would be a great idea) he gets hit with thundershock surprise and fried. Dragon ball characters in general should just not be compared to naruto ones, it's just not fair imo.
The only Akatsuki member I see standing a chance is Obito because he’s intangible and could probably suck roshi into the kamui dimension if he catches him off guard when he’s fighting the rest of the Akatsuki.

good video, but i see mistakes. 1) kid goku post daimaoh learned to go faster than lightning, before that he was slower than lightning, so roshi would be hypersonic+ level at most 2) the tsuchikage can destroy the island where they hid naruto from madara, and jiraiya sage mode is superior to the kages so akatsukis like kisame are already island level 3) all of the akatsukis are MHS+ except zetsu, hidan can fight with kakashi sharingan, that kakashi split lightning in 2, and hidan can fight with him easily. So all of the akatsukis are more faster than roshi, so he speedblitz him
Flying in Dragon Ball is a technique. You have to specifically learn it no matter your power level. The only exception to that rule is, like... DBS Pan during anime-only filler. Yajirobe not using ki blasts is just his style of fighting. Hit also never used normal ki blasts, despite being within God Ki realms of power.

Tobi has been stated to be vulnerable to exactly one thing" speed blitz. Minato beat him because he managed to land a blow immediately after Tobi solidified in order to grab him. Roshi is massively faster than Minato and has infinitely better reaction time

Deidara should be able to kill Roshi with the C4 micro explosives (since they get inhaled, filter into your bloodstream and break your body down on the cellular level). But if the goal is to capture him alive, then I don't see anyone below Itachi doing it.
Roshi is a smart fighter. that's why he was recruited for the ToP. I believe roshi can beat obito by figuring out how his kamui works. He also imo can stand a chance against itachi because he most likely can figure out if he is under genjutsu because in the ToP he fought the talisman fighter from universe 4 and realised she was using Illusions.
How would Roshi break the genjutsu though? He can't be placed under genjutsu because he doesn't have chakra, but if he could, would he figure out how to break a genjutsu?

I think any Akatsuki duo has a high change against Roshi, especially without knowledge, they have a lot of hax like Hidans blood ritual, Sasori poison, Deidara C4, Itachi's genjutsu, plus the Akatsuki members are pretty durable at this level, they won't get one shot. All of them together is a stomp.

Maybe not solo, but that would definitely be a great distraction for him. Since It's definitely one of his biggest weaknesses. But they will have to know about that in order to carry it out and also Konan will have to agree to it as well.

4:38 problem with this argument is that the puppets bursting releases poison too - Sakura could heal the wounds from the shrapnel because shes primarily a medical ninja. I think this is what Roshi has to worry about the most, in tandem with the 6 Paths of Pain. Theres no reason to believe they wouldnt work in tandem after seeing weaker members go down. Also Roshi isnt about dismemberment - I think Hidan just gets full-body fractures rather than his head chopped off (judging by Roshis character). Idk man. The video feels more on the lines of power scaling so far. The "he one shots" argument for the weaker members doesnt make sense for Roshi's character, and there isnt really a oneshot move for Hidan outside of slicing moves. Of course, I don't think physical strength is that big of a factor in this battle in the 1st place considering Sakura needed a bullet hell touhou fan to control her every move to not get killed. In a huge open environment with nothing around, im sure Roshi has the ability to win. But without running space, he's going to get swarmed, even if he's fodderizing some of them. Deidara is 100% planting mines after the 1st squad loses (then getting salty and exploding himself on impact when that doesnt work - is this point blank?). The moment Roshi jumps it's pretty much game over. I really do believe that there are characters weaker than Roshi in DBZ that can solo the Akatsuki. But Roshi's inability to fly screws him over because he WILL have to leave the ground at some point due to some attack, whether its a mine, him attacking something in the air, getting hit by almighty push/Universal pull (which isnt really dodgeable if you're focused on something else). Jumping to dodge an explosion is something even characters like Roshi have a habit of, so he's not beyond that in terms of experience - but thats the difference between martial arts and random bs hax. Hats off to him for what he did in the ToP (...in the manga). But this isn't his battle.
Roshi is strong but he can't really get around Kamui, and if Hidan gets his blood or Nagato gets him with human path then he's dead. Otherwise Roshi should win most of the time.
These are big ifs, nonetheless. Hidan can’t damage Roshi, and the Human Path is going to straight up die if he enters melee range with Roshi. Kamui is honestly gg, but Roshi can win if he catches Obito offguard with his FTL/relativistic movement speed.
I've watched a lot of dragon ball assessing videos and I've come to believe that the power level numbers are useless. I'm pretty sure they are just so arbitrary but people use them as though they contain some accurate mathematical formula. Toriyama game up on them himself. I may be wrong on this, but I think Toriyama thought it was a cool idea at first but then realized that they didn't make sense so abandoned the concept. It certainly didn't stop it from showing up in all things dragon ball, but personally, I don't think they are any reliable way to gage how strong a character is. Judge them by their feats, that's what makes the most sense to me. Blowing up a moon or planet, or surviving certain damage. Assessing that makes much more sense to me in seeing how strong characters would be.
Power Levels, like planet busting just don't mean anything. People keep using Moon/Planet busting like only DBZ chars can do it, when in reality most power characters can.
The best part about this entire match up is realizing we're intentionally using the weakest form of Roshi and not his more powerful versions in Super. Not even talking about Tournament of Power, Ressurection F Roshi was surprisingly really strong considering how strong the average Frieza soldier is and took on 170 mostly by himself and one shot most of em.
I don’t think there’s a single characher in all DBZ who could break out of Tsukuyomi without external help. Ignoring that makes it pretty obvious that you only know about DBZ’s lore and almost nothing of Naruto’s. Fighting Itachi alone is a lose/lose situation. And you can’t use the willpower or Ki excuse because Tsukuyomi doesn’t work like normal genjutsu that can be broken by shaking your chakra or Ki in this case

Haven't watched the vid yet as I want to think about the premise myself first. Sometimes I forget how wacky it is to compare characters from different contexts. For one, we always have to make assumptions at there is no proof about how different power systems interact (Can someone that can drain chakra drain ki, does genius work on people from outside of natuto?). Second is context. My first thought was one that was correct but not applicable to this situation. It was that despite both groups being top tier humans in their own verse, Roshi is on the lower end of power in his verse while the Atksuki are on the upper end. Then I remembered that that isn't how this works. Master Roshi is one of the characters who blew up the Moon with one attack. Back in Dragon Ball. There are very few people in Naruto who could replicate that feat, especially if you only look at those originally from earth, which excludes the Otsusuki and the 10 tails. Outside of those exclusions, I'm not sure if anyone in the verse has the kind of striking power to destroy a moon. I know there are other things to consider, like speed is always really important, but I don't really know enough about how different verses handle speed or anything else to start something like that.
I've always enjoyed these what-ifs and fantasy crossovers. It's hard not to, bringing our favorite things together and having a blast trying to dream up how things would go down. What I wonder is how chakra would react to overwhelming levels of ki? We know from the early days of Naruto that chakra is formed from the combining of physical and spiritual energy. The Dragonball universe uses ki, which has the alternative name of chi. Chi is literally physical energy, specifically life force. Ki of any strength can be negated by equal or greater levels of ki. This is a hard rule in the Dragonball universe. Would emissions of ki cancel out a vital component of chakra, causing a collapse? If so then almost the entire Narutoverse gets solo'd by a single Z Fighter. Just being in close proximity to Roshi as he's maintaining his ki would cripple the cast by disrupting their chakra. Without their primary energy source they cannot weave jutsu of any kind, nor use it to amplify their physical bodies. A veritable death sentence. Almost anything and everything the Akatsuki would have access to is reliant on chakra to function. Kamui, genjutsu, ameterasu, and potentially Hidan's death curse would all fall apart. Hell, Kakazu might just literally die where he stands if his substitute hearts require chakra to maintain functionality, seeing as their "stitched" into his body. But if that were the case, then this wouldn't be all that fun to think about. Just like how people say that Goku versus Superman is a stupid debate, if you accept that qi manipulation is a form of magic within the DC universe. I had to look it up and one of the wiki entries even puts all three classifications together under qi manipulation. "Mysticism", "Occultism", and "Martial Arts" are all grouped together under the same entry. Under that logic, a single ki-infused punch would ignore all of Superman's inherent durability and kill him outright. That is simply no fun to ponder. So for the sake of fun, it's probably best NOT to factor in the weird rules that each universe has. Loophole abuse does not make for good entertainment, except for maybe shock value.
I'm glad you went with Og Dragon Ball Roshi and not DBZ or DBS Roshi, mainly because it would be no contest.(A clip that kept flashing into my mind was Roshi Vs the Biomen and then later Roshi Vs the Bio Warriors from "The worlds strongest" movie) but even that was early Z Roshi, a late Z Roshi would be too strong for the bio-warriors to win. I suppose I'm trying to say, the Akatsuki would probably scale under the Bio-warriors in terms of strength and speed. (Reflecting on this as I was typing, Yeah Early Z Roshi could probably Solo the entire Akatsuki. I don't think he would Blitz them, but I think he would come out the victor.)
I wouldnt call anyone in naruto a ninja. They are more like hidden leaf magicians. Like Japanese Harry Potter. Also, you just glanced over so many abilities of the weaker akatsuki members. Anybody gets a drop of blood from roshi, hidan one shots this guy since Roshi doesn't know the first thing about their abilities. Neither do they, but a Kamehameha could also be absorbed by Pains Preta Path if chakra and Ki work the same. Itachi could use genjutsu like Tsukuyomi as well. Deidara could just use C4 and destroy roshi on a molecular level. Not much he could do about that either. Obito just teleports roshi to the kamui dimension, what he gonna do about that? Like, there's so many ways the akatsuki can just get rid of this old geezer. Kisame could just use the Water prison jutsu as well so Roshi wouldn't even be able to move before drowning. Kakuzu may have a hard time as well as Sasori and Hidan if he's on his own. But over all, after Team 1 consisting of Kakuzu and Hidan which he already could potentially struggle with, Roshi would be f'd. He'd have very little energy left and against Sasori (who solo'd a country) and Deidara (who can just destroy him on a molecular level) which essentially would be a death sentence already. We don't even need to talk about the rest of the akatsuki. Normally I'm on the DB side since these characters are overpowered in any way, shape or form already. But when talking about the roshi you are talking about, this isn't even a fair fight. This is just a huge stomp in the Aktsuki's favor.
DB/DBZ has a crazy Power scale however Naruto has crazy hacks, so if the hacks work they can beat crazy powerful characters. Any of us could write a story where a Naruto character beats a DBZ character it just needs set-up.
Awesome video, mate. Very entertaining. But just to make a couple of possible corrections: Roshi and Son Goku from Naruto could or could not be a reference to dragon ball. Roshi is a term commonly used to identify a master who's old and/or wise. As for Son Goku, it is the name of a deity popular from asian myths/religions and it is related to a powerful monkey, sometimes even directly called the Monkey King. Actually, Akira took inspiration from this deity to create Goku in dragon ball.

we saw in the tournament of power how he handles opponents much stronger than he was due to his battle experience and cleverness. Although he isn't as powerful here, he could still win with little effort if they only attacked in teams of 1 or 2.

I think you're discounting one of the biggest advantages of Roshi here. Sure his overpowered attacks require time to charge, but his regular attacks alone are around the level of high akatsuki, and with basic kamehameha are amped. SO he stays relative in AP and Durability. Which means what decides this is skill and experience.
Roshi at the end of DB would have:
- The ability to read minds which he did against Nam
- The ability to hypnotize people with sensory suggestion which he did to both Man Wolf and Goku
- Pressure point attacks that KO'd Krillin and completely paralyzed Man Wolf
- Pseudo-UI which he tried to teach to Goku at young age, though he can seemingly only use it defensively, but it proves the point of experience
And the thing with the RR is mainly the sheer scope of fighting that many people that long. Not the same as high intensity repeatedly. Just because he can't run a marathon doesn't mean he can't do a series of sprints or one mega-sprint.
I also don't think he can *only* do 1 attack in the buff form, but maybe at that time only 1 ki attack, since they get explosively enhanced. Either that or he can handle multiple physical attacks in his max form but full power is the "all gone" form.
This seems really Misleading, As Roshi lacks superior technique compared to the ninjas. And I would also like to point out that one of the ninja's biggest Advantages is their Proven Intellegence as seen in the show. while many say roshi has "Battle experience" thats mostly in martial arts/Taijutsu, And A select few Ki Techniques. There are not many instances where roshi Deals with a Unique Ability that's not straightforward to my awareness. *As such, I am not here debate, only to shed a little light on what my research found on Each subject and the context of Roshi vs the akatsuki overall. Keep in mind I am not going to cover base stats or "Blitz" arguments as I am not a fan of the stomp or spite threads such assumptions create.*
- I can't speak on the Ability to read minds. this one is a *good point*.
- The hypnosis/Sleepy-Boy technique, seems to work VERY similar to genjutsu. Despite this, one can use physical pain to prevent themselfs from falling asleep, A way to deal with genjutsu taught in the ninja world, Not to mention the genjutsu cancel, or sharingan's General Resistance to techniques Like this, with a good example being that an uchiha could likley resist the feather Illusion jutsu. *Conclusion: This Technique Has counters and is Outclassed by Genjutsu: Sharingan.*
- Roshi does have a one up here (Assuming this preassure point attacks is a technique of sorts and not just dragon ball logic), but do note that in the context of this being used against the akatsuki, it would *Not* work on most of them due to their *Non-Humane bodies or special abilities* This includes Kazuku, Sasori, Konan, Itatchi's susanoo (Yata Mirror), And Obito (Kamui.)
- Roshi ONLY emulates UI in the manga. I see people bring up this argument, but *for this argument to be pheaseable, it has to be A, established that we are talking about Roshi from the manga, and B, established that its Roshi During or AFTER Dragon ball super.*
You're probably right that It comes down to skills and experience, but I've *personally* seen More Skill, Intellegent thought in battle, and improvised plans that come from a place of experience from the character's of naruto then from dragon ball.

Really good points, Roshi has a decent bag of hax. Aside from that, a hit from Roshi has enough power to one shot most of the members. Lonk comparing an entire Red Ribbon army vs a dozen or so Akatsuki members is a little flawed too, he might not have the stamina to take an army but for the Akatasuki he'd have enough stamina. How I see this going is, he one-shots the weaker members with standard hits and then deals with the last few standing with more powerful attacks

Since roshi uses ki, his offence is comparable to his defense, unlike ninjas. Meaning that if roshi gets to them he could snap them with a finger and most attacks would bounce off roshi, so he wouldnt need to dodge most of them. Stamina wouldnt be an issue since he would only need single hit per member, plus he has way better technique and experience so they dont seem to have any chance.
even worse, dude can catch point blank machinegun fire. there is nothing in Naruto capable of that speed in repetition besides teleporting, and there's only 2 people capable of instant teleporting, with one being dead and the other no longer able to due to bad eye surgery.
I think that Samehada could absorb ki. Since it's basically the same thing as chakra. (physical and spiritual energy molded into something.) Just like Genki is basically nature energy, and Shinjutsu is god ki.
There is one technique, Deidara's C4 I think it's called? Basically he makes a Clay explosive that looks like it was a dud, but what it actually did was make microscopic explosives that you would inhale as you breathed, only lightning nature can negate it, which is something DBZ characters are not privy too

You forgot that Kamui explicitly has a weakness in that it's very limited in terms of how long it can be used for, which is why Obito had to rely on Izanagi to survive Konan's attack.
And Roshi is a man who's forgotten more about Martial Arts than most people will ever learn. He's seen it all and he's even seen things no one else has seen, with dozens to hundreds of different techniques that we never saw because they simply wouldn't have worked on someone like Goku... but they'd work on the Akatsuki.
Also important to note that nothing that works by manipulating Chakra (genjutsu or Kisame's draining abilities) would work on Roshi whatsoever, as he doesn't have any (and no, Chakra isn't Ki, it started off as just Ki by a different name yes, but then they made it explicitly an alien thing).
The Akatsuki can only win by going after him all at the same time, and they'd still take heavy losses from doing so for several reasons, not least of which is an inability to work as a cohesive team. If they go two at a time, he'll just dismantle them two at a time. He's far superior in terms of physical stats, the instant disable techniques wouldn't work and they'd need to work on trying to drain his stamina, which wouldn't work very well if they don't go all at once because Roshi is very much an expert and would pace himself and not use more power than he absolutely has to on each pair, and Pain's the only one that would actually make him exert himself.
Alternatively...
Konan and/or Pain's female body win the fight easily. Just show booba and Roshi will be distracted.

Yes most genjutsu wouldn't work however he is facing the 1 exception to that Sharingan Genjutsu which works by injecting the casters own chakra into the target.

Not really Roshi in DB has to be slower then Lightning as the Goku who was on par with him in power later goes on to Train by Dodging Lightning, Meaning even HIDAN the slowest attacker of the Akatsuki is faster then Roshi(Roshi probably has a Physical strength advantage however) as Hidan can keep up with Kakashi who split a Lightning Bolt.

Roshi is faster, stronger, and has higher battle iq than guy who was able to react to kamui in taijutsu. Roshi is so fast he literally blitzes everyone it’s unfair
Itachi has lightspeed Jutsus (faster than DB Roshi) and Kamui is passive, it can't be outsped. Plus, if Itachi starts with his Susano'o there is literally nothing Roshi can do to stop him, the Yata Mirror is immune to physical and spiritual attacks and the Totsuka Blade seals anything it pierces.
All this on top of the fact Roshi has shown no resistance to Mind Hax or temperatures hotter than the sun and we have a Smurf situation

2. Not once in the Dragon Ball franchise is it ever stated that being stronger than your opponent cancels their haxes. In the DBS Manga Hit says that HIS TIMESKIP is being shortened because Goku is stronger; that means his Timeskip specifically has the weakness that it will not work against stronger opponents.
Unless explicitly stated that the characters are able to negate hax abilities in general via strength, then the hax abilities showcased just have a unique weakness that they do not work against stronger opponents. The same goes for Hakai Energy. Hax by nature are abilities that exist outside of strength, speed, and durability, and so Hax being bypassed by those stats mean that the Hax itself is weak, not that the character can resist all Hax.
Characters have to showcase or have stated resistance to haxes in order to be resistant to them.
And 3. OG DB Roshi is Moon level at max using a technique he can only use once before being completely drained, and Relativistic, which is slower than lightspeed.
My only gripe is I believe Itachi knows Kisame enough to get out of dodge when he starts going crazy mode. Giant water arena etc. I'm sure they have discussed this technique and have a strategy for using it.

I don't think Roshi's stamina is _as_ bad as not being able to fight all the members of the Akatsuki at once. With the Red Ribbon Army, they have a large base that has to be traversed, battle suits and androids that are stronger than their usual footmen, commanders that could keep up at least somewhat with Goku, etc, etc. Plus Goku didn't wipe out the entirety of the army; he only fractured its central leader positions (hence why Dr. Gero survived and the remnants seen in Super Hero still existed). Roshi was pitting himself against the _entire_ RR army, and even then was only "not sure" if he could have done so, instead of knowing if he couldn't 100%.
Against the Akatsuki, he is one shotting pretty much over half of the team, leaving him with Kisame, Itachi, the Pains, and Obito as his main opponents. Against around half a dozen opponents assumedly in a more open area, his stamina should hold up a lot better than it would fighting an entire army within their own base.
Ya, like 90% of the footmen fleed the base once Goku got there, only a handful stayed to fight Goku

I agree pretty much with Lonk. And that just has to do when major power creep kicks in. I mean yes kid goku does get vastly stronger from when he started, but it's not even close to what he is compared to start of DBZ or even during the saiyan saga. Meanwhile Naruto suffers from huge power creep starting from the chunnin exams, just compare how strong zabuza is compareed to akutsuki later and they should technically at this point be roughly the same strength from a lore point of view. Even kakashi at that time is vastly weaker then he is later. Honestly speaking prior to watching the video I expected DB roshi to get giga stomped especially with all the hacks that the naruto universe has and that Roshi never grew in strength in DB. While power creep affected everyone else in both the DB and naruto universe.

Master roshi could probably wipe all them out in a single attack due to a data book confirming he has the power to power a large star, however we don’t know what he would do against Genjutsu and Tobi’s invincibility. They could keep up with Roshi’s speed and Roshi isn’t particularly agile so they could likely take care of him before he reaches max power, which he would most likely go for due to the ridiculous power increase and how outnumbered he is.
Genjutsu is only known to affect people with Chakra and since Roshi doesn’t have any, it won’t even scratch him. A few of the akatsuki COULD give him a challenge, but Kisame would be powerless since he can’t absorb Ki the same way he does Chakra. Itachi wouldn’t do much to him at all either. Sure Roshi isn’t necessarily strong against Aerial attacks and he’s not the fastest but I doubt that would do too much to him. The only way he could lose in this context is his perversion, so ideally Konan or Pain’s female form could take him down.
So instead of going with the ultimate blitz that is "Super Roshi" - we're going with the DB Roshi that has been seen breaking moons and rarely fighting at full power. The best example of full power DB Roshi is actually his fight in the DBZ Movie: Worlds Strongest, when he takes on multiple threats at once and is able to rather easily defeat everything - with the exception of the weird abilities they had and the fact they "out powered him".
Roshi should be able to solo the entire Naruto universe at his full power from DB / DBZ and Super.

I feel like roshis battle experience would help him take out kamui, in the case of itachi i think roshi can handle genjutsu because he has been through similar training to goku, and goku overcame genjutsu when going after the ultra divine water, tsukuyomi also wouldnt be too bad since he could brute force it and amatarasu is kinda unpredictable, he could lose to it or take him out before he can use it, pretty OP. Id like another video on just pain though and all their abilities, seems like hed have a tough time taking them out to me.

Roshi wasn't sent because of his power. He was sent because of his Tournament, and martial arts knowledge. being a the man who has probably won more Tournament setting battles than anyone. He has some great feats of strength for sure. but he was calling shots more than anything. this is also why I dont think the Akatsuki could beat him. His strength, martial skill, and ability to understand and figure out his enemies abilities very quicky make him unbeatable by anyone in naruto. The ONLY thing that could kill him would be a soul manipulation jutsu. BUT DBZ characters are able to surround themselves with their ki making a second layer of skin almost. you have to have more output than the barrier to damage the person. So those would be void as well as not even a tailed beat bomb could overpower a DBZ character ki barrier.

I just wanna comment on how tsukoyomi or any genjutsu for that matter, will never work against characters outside the naruto verse.
Genjutsu works as injecting chakra into another person, meaning, if u wanna use genjutsu on someone, u gotta inject ur own chakra onto them.
Chakra comes from the tree that kaguya ate. That fruit, basically altered the human body to create the seal thing(as seen as when guy enters 8 gates) and those things basically allow you to have chakra.
As all the characters outside the naruto verse cannot have this seal, this would mean that chakra cannot exist in their body, henceforth, genjutsu cannot work on them.
Actually,it was sorta retconned that chakra EXISTED before the tree,just that ppl couldn't access it as they didn't have the knowledge to do so,until Hagoromo came around and taught everyone how to use it,the reason kaguya says it "her" chakra is because Otsotsukis see planets they have planted a god tree on as theirs to absorb

Even if it works on roshi, he can fight without using sight. ALL Z FIGHTERS canonically can read the battle without using sight. In DBZ especially, if you pay attn you will see so many Z fighters like Tien/yamcha/roshi/gohan/piccolo being able to literally see exactly what is happening in a battle from miles away. There's many scenes where the Z fighters were in random places and being able to tell exactly who was fighting and where and what was happening .Roshi would literally be able to fight the same level of effectiveness using energy sensing alone so genjutsu wudn't work on him with his eyes closed

lol so correct me if I'm wrong, but Obito (while the Akatsuki is still all in one form, so in his "Tobi" form) has a pretty big hole in his character, that being his hubris granted to him by the Kamui. I have no doubts that Roshi would be able to charge up the Mafuba and seal Obito in that little vial. Obito would have nothing to fear based on the encounters he's witnessed so far so he would likely just let Roshi do it to try and grandstand himself as a big middle finger, which would immediately backfire lol. The question then would become, can Kamui help Obito escape the Mafuba? Can he travel through multiple dimensions? In Dragon Ball Super, Fused Zamasu, someone infinitely stronger than anything the Naruto universe could possibly bring to the table, isn't able to teleport out of it so it's pretty concrete that it's a flat lockdown technique. I'd wager that it wouldn't limit Obito's Kamui dimension, but would probably limit the area he can come back to as being just inside the vial.
The main problem would be Itachi imo just because Roshi has no real way to deal with the Tsukuyomi unless chakra-based techniques don't affect Ki users. Assuming that it doesn't, Roshi 1-taps because Itachi can't cope with lightspeed which Roshi clearly is by that point in the story, being on par with a future iteration of Goku like you demonstrated. Itachi wouldn't likely even get to the point of using the Susano'o and either the Totsuka Blade nor the Yata Mirror because he's sick and dying and wouldn't want to push himself that far, but even then Roshi can still break through any of the earlier forms of the Susano'o since it has a huge opening (hence why Gaara was able to pull Madara out of his with the sand) and just deck Itachi in the face, destroying his eyes in the process. But Itachi likely wouldn't even resort to Susano'o just because he thinks he doesn't need to. After all, from what he'd have seen out of Roshi by this point in the encounter, there's no reason for Itachi to think Roshi is any more of a threat to him than someone like Sakura.
That being said, then the only members who are a problem either way are Kisame and Pain. While not canon, Roshi does have experience dealing with multiple opponents via the World's Strongest film, but again not canon so it's up for debate. So him getting jumped by all the Pains could be the end. Conversely though, Dragon Ball has a standing rule where the stronger character's technique wins "because." So with that in mind, Roshi might be able to just outrun or outmuscle the gravity based attacks that Pain can dish out. He 1 taps the other 5. But Pain wouldn't want to get close and would have to keep Roshi mid-air because if Roshi hit the ground he could dart away when the attack is finished, he could jump at moon-level strength and lightspeed to rip Pain in half, etc etc. The only real option is keeping Roshi mid-air, but even then they would still need an attack that can harm his Ki-powered body, since Ki boosts a character's strength but also durability. Roshi would barely break a sweat against any of the members he beats handily so he'd have plenty of Ki to spare by this point, unless he already performed the Mafuba in which case he might be in trouble. Amaterasu would also do the job handily here.
Kisame is the only member I can see going toe-to-toe with Roshi and possibly pulling out the win because of Roshi's innate humanness giving him a massive disadvantage underwater, but Kisame would have to keep his distance because Roshi could still 1-tap him if he got close. The smart play is for Kisame to keep Roshi in the bubble while keeping his distance, but honestly that's not that good of a strategy either since Kisame stays in the center of the technique. If Roshi used his superior muscle strength to push himself downward, he can still kick off the ground and essentially hit Kisame with the Dragon Fist like Kid Goku did to Piccolo, same scenario as what I said about Pain. Roshi would be immensely stronger than Might Guy comparatively, at least based on the speed alone. For example, like how The Flash is weaker than Superman by strength but can beat the FUCK out of people to a point where any observers would be hard pressed to tell the difference. Getting hit with a nerf dart at 25mph is way different than a bowling ball at Mach 5, you know? Same thing here. Kisame's only viable strategy would be to use the shark bombs to keep Roshi in a neutral spot,
Ironically enough, Konan might be able to pull it off with some paper bombs after Roshi finds out she's a woman. Take advantage of his womanizing nature and get in real close, then do what needs to be done.
This is all assuming chakra doesn't work on Ki users though. If it does, then Roshi gets stopped pretty handily by Itachi unless Roshi's sunglasses can somehow prevent the genjutsu lmao.
I think you forgot that sharingan allows the user to cope with attacks at inhuman speeds. Assuming it's just hand to hand combat, Itachi can fend off Roshi's attacks to some degree

Keeping up with 5th gate Rock Lee (which would be the fastest canon event in the story by this point with every Akatsuki member still alive, if I recall) is a big step down from literal lightspeed. And Roshi can go that fast on a whim, when it broke Lee to go even a fraction of that speed. Perhaps it wouldn't be a complete and total wash but I still think Roshi takes it pretty cleanly, provided Tsukuyomi doesn't work on Roshi like I said. I don't think base Sharingan would make enough of a difference to push my theory in another direction.

This seems pretty accurate, Roshi is really strong but he doesn't have the stamina or hax to deal with the Akatsuki. Honestly, Itachi, Obito, and Pain could maybe even just beat him 1v1 if they instant-hax him to death. And they can be scaled even higher than this, as some calcs but Pain's Chibaku Tensei at Continent Level and there are multiple statements for 1/2 Kurama being Planet Level, which you can argue would upscale Obito and maybe Itachi and Pain (those two are a bit more questionable). They could also have a speed edge depending on how you calc certain stuff. All of that along with the massive numbers advantage they have and all the tricks up their sleeve makes me think they would beat him in most scenarios.

@@r.a.s6410 There are multiple Planetary statements for Kurama, and seeing as the mention the world and earth it would be up to you to prove that they are meaning society. Kurama and Bee also have a Multi-Continental feat so it isn’t inconsistent for them to be that strong.
Obito also made the Kamui dimension (databook says he made it) which is most likely a planet considering he uses it to teleport around the earth.
Chibaku Tensei can be at Continental which is consistent with the Bijuu’s power.
Itachi, Pain, and Obito are all significantly above FTL as well so Roshi’s speed isn’t enough.

Not a single akatsuki member scales to relativistic speeds. The two fastest ones are pain and itachi which are both sub relativistic, even if you low ball roshi as much as possible he still completely blitzes every single one of them. The only way you'd beat him is by obito kamui (even minato who's slower than roshi dodged it in time) or itachi amaterasu hitting (which we know sub relativistic speeds characters can dodge, ie. A the 4th raikage) but I don't think even if it did, it matters considering how ki works in DB. Konan, hidan, kakuzu, deidara and kakuzu would be 1 shot, it's not even close. Every "hax" in DB can be negged by having stronger ki than your opponent (or at least, the attack in question). Vegeta negged babidi's mind control, Freeza negged hakai energy, it's no stretch saying roshi who's a LOT stronger than itachi or pain could neg the amaterasu, tsukiyomi or pain's soul stealing. He could trick most (if not all, but let's be charitable towards dojutsu users) of the akatsuki simply using zanzoken. If kisame tries to drown him (which would be a great idea) he gets hit with thundershock surprise and fried. Dragon ball characters in general should just not be compared to naruto ones, it's just not fair imo.
Especially when you consider that if your Ki power is greater than your opponent (Ki, magic, or whatever. IN UNIVERSE) Ki counters most hacks.

Flying in Dragon Ball is a technique. You have to specifically learn it no matter your power level. The only exception to that rule is, like... DBS Pan during anime-only filler.
Yajirobe not using ki blasts is just his style of fighting. Hit also never used normal ki blasts, despite being within God Ki realms of power.

Deidara should be able to kill Roshi with the C4 micro explosives (since they get inhaled, filter into your bloodstream and break your body down on the cellular level). But if the goal is to capture him alive, then I don't see anyone below Itachi doing it.
Roshi is a smart fighter. that's why he was recruited for the ToP. I believe roshi can beat obito by figuring out how his kamui works. + Sasori and Hidan isn’t going to be able to cut Roshi; the durability difference is too vast.
+ Kisame, Hidan, Kakuzu, Deidara, Sasori, Hidan and Konan lack the speed and durability to exist next to a Juubidara level character without getting oneshotted. They can’t contribute to this fight as they’re much slower than him, and will drop like flies.
+ If Pain gets close enough to steal Roshi’s soul, that Human Path is getting eviscerated. The same applies to the other Paths.
+ Itachi is the best win con, because Tsukuyomi gg - it’s just a matter of whether or not he actually lands it; if he can’t, he’s going to die.

4:38 problem with this argument is that the puppets bursting releases poison too - Sakura could heal the wounds from the shrapnel because shes primarily a medical ninja. I think this is what Roshi has to worry about the most, in tandem with the 6 Paths of Pain. Theres no reason to believe they wouldnt work in tandem after seeing weaker members go down. Also Roshi isnt about dismemberment - I think Hidan just gets full-body fractures rather than his head chopped off (judging by Roshis character). Idk man. The video feels more on the lines of power scaling so far. The "he one shots" argument for the weaker members doesnt make sense for Roshi's character, and there isnt really a oneshot move for Hidan outside of slicing moves. Of course, I don't think physical strength is that big of a factor in this battle in the 1st place considering Sakura needed a bullet hell touhou fan to control her every move to not get killed. In a huge open environment with nothing around, im sure Roshi has the ability to win. But without running space, he's going to get swarmed, even if he's fodderizing some of them. Deidara is 100% planting mines after the 1st squad loses (then getting salty and exploding himself on impact when that doesnt work - is this point blank?).
The moment Roshi jumps it's pretty much game over. I really do believe that there are characters weaker than Roshi in DBZ that can solo the Akatsuki. But Roshi's inability to fly screws him over because he WILL have to leave the ground at some point due to some attack, whether its a mine, him attacking something in the air, getting hit by almighty push/Universal pull (which isnt really dodgeable if you're focused on something else). Jumping to dodge an explosion is something even characters like Roshi have a habit of, so he's not beyond that in terms of experience - but thats the difference between martial arts and random bs hax. Hats off to him for what he did in the ToP (...in the manga). But this isn't his battle.

I've watched a lot of dragon ball assessing videos and I've come to believe that the power level numbers are useless. I'm pretty sure they are just so arbitrary but people use them as though they contain some accurate mathematical formula. Toriyama game up on them himself. I may be wrong on this, but I think Toriyama thought it was a cool idea at first but then realized that they didn't make sense so abandoned the concept. It certainly didn't stop it from showing up in all things dragon ball, but personally, I don't think they are any reliable way to gage how strong a character is. Judge them by their feats, that's what makes the most sense to me. Blowing up a moon or planet, or surviving certain damage. Assessing that makes much more sense to me in seeing how strong characters would be.
Power Levels, like planet busting just don't mean anything. People keep using Moon/Planet busting like only DBZ chars can do it, when in reality most power characters can.

The best part about this entire match up is realizing we're intentionally using the weakest form of Roshi and not his more powerful versions in Super. Not even talking about Tournament of Power, Ressurection F Roshi was surprisingly really strong considering how strong the average Frieza soldier is and took on 170 mostly by himself and one shot most of em.
I don’t think there’s a single characher in all DBZ who could break out of Tsukuyomi without external help. Ignoring that makes it pretty obvious that you only know about DBZ’s lore and almost nothing of Naruto’s. Fighting Itachi alone is a lose/lose situation. And you can’t use the willpower or Ki excuse because Tsukuyomi doesn’t work like normal genjutsu that can be broken by shaking your chakra or Ki in this case

Haven't watched the vid yet as I want to think about the premise myself first.
Sometimes I forget how wacky it is to compare characters from different contexts. For one, we always have to make assumptions at there is no proof about how different power systems interact (Can someone that can drain chakra drain ki, does genius work on people from outside of natuto?).
Second is context. My first thought was one that was correct but not applicable to this situation. It was that despite both groups being top tier humans in their own verse, Roshi is on the lower end of power in his verse while the Atksuki are on the upper end.
Then I remembered that that isn't how this works.
Master Roshi is one of the characters who blew up the Moon with one attack. Back in Dragon Ball.
There are very few people in Naruto who could replicate that feat, especially if you only look at those originally from earth, which excludes the Otsusuki and the 10 tails. Outside of those exclusions, I'm not sure if anyone in the verse has the kind of striking power to destroy a moon.
I know there are other things to consider, like speed is always really important, but I don't really know enough about how different verses handle speed or anything else to start something like that.
I've always enjoyed these what-ifs and fantasy crossovers. It's hard not to, bringing our favorite things together and having a blast trying to dream up how things would go down.
What I wonder is how chakra would react to overwhelming levels of ki? We know from the early days of Naruto that chakra is formed from the combining of physical and spiritual energy. The Dragonball universe uses ki, which has the alternative name of chi. Chi is literally physical energy, specifically life force.
Ki of any strength can be negated by equal or greater levels of ki. This is a hard rule in the Dragonball universe. Would emissions of ki cancel out a vital component of chakra, causing a collapse? If so then almost the entire Narutoverse gets solo'd by a single Z Fighter. Just being in close proximity to Roshi as he's maintaining his ki would cripple the cast by disrupting their chakra. Without their primary energy source they cannot weave jutsu of any kind, nor use it to amplify their physical bodies. A veritable death sentence.
Almost anything and everything the Akatsuki would have access to is reliant on chakra to function. Kamui, genjutsu, ameterasu, and potentially Hidan's death curse would all fall apart. Hell, Kakazu might just literally die where he stands if his substitute hearts require chakra to maintain functionality, seeing as their "stitched" into his body.
But if that were the case, then this wouldn't be all that fun to think about. Just like how people say that Goku versus Superman is a stupid debate, if you accept that qi manipulation is a form of magic within the DC universe. I had to look it up and one of the wiki entries even puts all three classifications together under qi manipulation. "Mysticism", "Occultism", and "Martial Arts" are all grouped together under the same entry. Under that logic, a single ki-infused punch would ignore all of Superman's inherent durability and kill him outright. That is simply no fun to ponder.
So for the sake of fun, it's probably best NOT to factor in the weird rules that each universe has. Loophole abuse does not make for good entertainment, except for maybe shock value.

I'm glad you went with Og Dragon Ball Roshi and not DBZ or DBS Roshi, mainly because it would be no contest.(A clip that kept flashing into my mind was Roshi Vs the Biomen and then later Roshi Vs the Bio Warriors from "The worlds strongest" movie) but even that was early Z Roshi, a late Z Roshi would be too strong for the bio-warriors to win. I suppose I'm trying to say, the Akatsuki would probably scale under the Bio-warriors in terms of strength and speed. (Reflecting on this as I was typing, Yeah Early Z Roshi could probably Solo the entire Akatsuki. I don't think he would Blitz them, but I think he would come out the victor.)
It's important to note that roshi is *not* a sayain, he will go for the kill.

Also, you just glanced over so many abilities of the weaker akatsuki members.
Anybody gets a drop of blood from roshi, hidan one shots this guy since Roshi doesn't know the first thing about their abilities.
Neither do they, but a Kamehameha could also be absorbed by Pains Preta Path if chakra and Ki work the same.
Itachi could use genjutsu like Tsukuyomi as well.
Deidara could just use C4 and destroy roshi on a molecular level. Not much he could do about that either.

Like, there's so many ways the akatsuki can just get rid of this old geezer.
Kisame could just use the Water prison jutsu as well so Roshi wouldn't even be able to move before drowning.
Kakuzu may have a hard time as well as Sasori and Hidan if he's on his own.
But over all, after Team 1 consisting of Kakuzu and Hidan which he already could potentially struggle with, Roshi would be f'd.
He'd have very little energy left and against Sasori (who solo'd a country) and Deidara (who can just destroy him on a molecular level) which essentially would be a death sentence already. We don't even need to talk about the rest of the akatsuki.
Normally I'm on the DB side since these characters are overpowered in any way, shape or form already. But when talking about the roshi you are talking about, this isn't even a fair fight. This is just a huge stomp in the Aktsuki's favor.

DB/DBZ has a crazy Power scale however Naruto has crazy hacks, so if the hacks work they can beat crazy powerful characters. Any of us could write a story where a Naruto character beats a DBZ character it just needs set-up.

But just to make a couple of possible corrections: Roshi and Son Goku from Naruto could or could not be a reference to dragon ball. Roshi is a term commonly used to identify a master who's old and/or wise. As for Son Goku, it is the name of a deity popular from asian myths/religions and it is related to a powerful monkey, sometimes even directly called the Monkey King. Actually, Akira took inspiration from this deity to create Goku in dragon ball.
