Thanks for the review. I recently bought a black and decker battery operated screwdriver. It's light and not incredibly strong but still handy. One thing I can't stand is over driving screws...I prefer them either flush or just counter sunk. It goes into 3 positions.
Do you have any reviews for the Hart or "toughest" brand sold by Walmart? I like the fact they are not too heavy but I have not used them yet

I wish I lived in Arkansas. I am in East Texas, so I hope to potentially come & support channel at the Houston event. Thanks for the Ryobi products videos. They might be considered “low end” products by some content creators, but my husband and I are average homeowner. We have used and steadily increasing our Ryobi products over the last 7-8 years. They have always worked great and are very reliable for the price point. We still in the process for remodeling our 80’s home and will continue to use our Ryobi tools and storage solutions.

I've also bought into the Ryobi 40v line in the last couple years. I have the 14" chainsaw. I mostly use it for brush and limb clean up, but I also dropped a tree with it that was 16" at the base. It also has never leaked a drop of bar oil on the ground. The string trimmer you have, if it says attachment capable you should be able to use any attachments you had for the gas trimmer. I have a hedge trimmer and a brush cutter that are not Ryobi and they pop right on.

Thanks for the video ! I've used Ryobi cordless tools for at least 15 years now. I decided to stick with one brand of battery so I didn't have to spend so much to have several high amp batteries to use for all my cordless tools. I'm still using all three of the old blue Ryobi's that came with Ni-Cads but work fine with lithium batteries. I've been happy with them. I got Ryobi's biggest 18 volt drill to spin the auger I use ice fishing. It's drilled a 6" hole through 23" of ice in 9 seconds (I didn't believe it myself but I have a video to prove it.) My latest addition to the Ryobi fleet was a cordless shop vac & it's great too ! I don't doubt there are some better cordless tools on the market but I'm not a professional, just a tight-fisted stickler for value.

I got that trimmer and a 600 cfm blower with 1 4ah battery for 199 on a holiday deal and let me tell you it's a dream. Already have the edger, snow shovel, and pole saw. I use a 2ah battery on it because it honestly doesn't need more and the weight savings is huge

7:32 When we moved into our new place, I went all electric for yard tools, and all Ryobi. 40v lawn mower, string trimmer, leaf blower, and snow blower. No complaints at all, and the snowblower came with (2) 7.5 amp hour batteries vs the (2) 6.0 amp hour with the mower and the single 4.0 amp hour battery that came with the string trimmer. Everything works great, what's even better is you can buy the different attachments for the string trimmer handle. I've got the edger and the little powered snow shovel attachments, both work great, too. The powered snow shovel is a little heavy, but it is great to clear the back deck or front porch without dragging out the big blower. So easy to manage everything, no gas, no oil or other chemicals, everything works as it should. I even picked up a powered pruner and a powered pruning saw, both also work great. With the 18v hand tools I already have, the air cannon and the work bench will be great additions. Thanks for the reviews!!

I have the 18v string trimmer from about a decade ago; it still works great and I never run out of battery on a 4Ah pack. Where I do have some complaints are with the 40v batteries; it takes me 4Ah packs to get through my front lawn, and I don't have a huge lawn, either (though the grass is quite thick, so that's something); if the battery isn't fully charged when I start, part of the lawn is not getting done.

Thanks for the introduction to the new Ryobi tools Matt. They all look like they have a place in most shops. I just bought a n Ego chainsaw and I seriously love it too. I was so tired of fighting to get my old saw to start. I really like the looks of the fan, and I appreciate your review. I want to commend you for your excellent work. Thorough and honest will always be welcome. Thank you very much Matt! 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤

Those electric screw drivers are so nice and the Ryobi one looks fantastic. I have SKIL one's and like you said for such small jobs they are great. Painted a room and removed and put back all the outlet and swicth covers with 4v Screwdriver, great for things like that. I have the Ryobi electric string trimmer in the 40v and a bunch of the accessories such as pole saw, small tiller for garden. Mine is not carbon fiber but it's an awesome echo system to be in for outdoor work.

Great video Brother. 5 more examples of why, even though most of my RYOBI tools are 'old-stuff', they still work, as well as they ever did. RYOBI keeps coming up with the 'new-hotness'. I've leveled up from those tools, but I still have them, cause they were my start.

I've been using the trimmer for a few years now and other than change the head, it rocks. I have the edging and pole saw attachments and they are worth it. I take care of around an acre with 2 houses and one 4ah battery will usually get all the edging and trimming done. The blower needs it's own, it eats them up.

  • @hailster

The Ryobi work light looks pretty nice and the price is very fair so I'll be picking one of those up. Last summer I picked up a 18v Ryobi string trimmer for around $150 and it has worked pretty nicely, with the 4ah battery I can trim my entire yard twice before I need to charge it.

I have an earlier version of the multi-head screwdriver (from before it had the multiple heads in the kit). I bought it for my wife because she doesn't like to use my drivers (not that she can't use them, she just doesn't like the way they feel in her hands). I will say it's better than using a hand tool, but I found the battery life to be kind of short. You can use it to assemble flat-pack (IKEA) furniture, but a desk and return can be enough to kill the battery. I agree that it's great for use around the house, and I find myself using it a lot when I just need to adjust a screw somewhere (like a loose drawer handle). I will say the multi-head kit is nice, and I wish my version had one of those angled heads!

  • @JohnBorgen

I used my Ryobi lithium screwdriver to build/install my entire Ikea kitchen. It did 90% of the cabinets (12 cabinets and 4 pantry cabinets) on a single charge!

I’ve been more than satisfied with this chainsaw. I’ve put it to the test and it will handle a 15” tree no problem but that’s about it for the battery. For yard work it’s simply makes trimming a dream.

On the string trimmer, make sure you can get replacement heads! The plastic bump stop wears out and breaks through! My Craftsman weed trimmer is sitting idle because I am having a hard time finding parts!
I like the battery stuff! it saves on the early spring refurb on the gas stuff to get them started!

Ryobi gets hate but they're out there doing the Lord's work lowering that barrier to entry. If I did construction everyday as a day job, sure, I'd upgrade. But for weekend DIY projects they're fantastic. I've remodeled my entire home on Ryobi.

I’m on a DeWalt platform, but I’ve had a Ryobi leaf blower and weed wacker combo kit for at least 10 years and they still run strong. The weed wacker isn’t the best, but I’ve used the blower several times a day. I also have the multi tool and the 18 gauge brad nailer which is great, but if I’m putting together a larger project or cabinets, I prefer using an air nailer as I’m no longer a young stud and a battery nailer get heavy using it for a couple three hours. That little screwdriver looks awesome!

  • @ReedAllen162

I soooo appreciate that you corrected the Ryobi pronounciation. I love Ryobi and Milwaukee (Founded in 1985, Techtronic has evolved into one of the world's leading power equipment companies, owning several brands such as Milwaukee and Ryobi.)
Honestly, I just LOVE tools and have passed the love and training on to my 4 adult children-- 2 of each!! Frankly, my "spouse" pailed in comparrison to me in using tools. "HE" doesn't always mean "tool knowledgable" 😂
NOTE TO READERS: TAKE YOUR BATTERIES **OFF** YOUR TOOLS if you won't be using them (not during an active project, but say if not being used in the next 24 hours). Your batteries will last LONGER and your tools benefit as well. Climbing off my soapbox now 😊

The screwdriver kit could be good to start pocket screws in softwoods (from someone who split their small pieces of soft wood while doing a project and almost gave up before adding more glue and clamps). The speed bench is something I'm thinking about investing in instead of making a bench for my small projects I've been getting into.

I do IT work and typically I don't need powerful tools, so the USB lithium has been great for tech stuff. they are releasing a blower in that line that i'm super excited for. Hoping it'll replace canned air dusters. I also have a lot of the 40v stuff that I actually rather enjoy, I got the 40v 14' whisper fan that's been super dope. I'm still planning on starting my own videos on RUclips and possibly some other platforms but I'm still a good ways off from doing that. I hope y'all have a safe trip and can't wait to see you in the next one. Happy Building 😁

no.1 is very much reminding me of the bosch ixo that is around for literally ever already ... just now a different badge and a swappable battery
pulling and pulling? idk bout you but my 2stroke trimmer and saw all start 2nd or 3rd pull from cold storage and 1st pull once they had been running briefly dont even need to get hot for that. and guzzels the same mixture for both tools so use up the leftovers of one in the other...

I'm not a fan of Ryobi's corded tools particularly their saws but for the most part their cordless line is decent and improving to the point where there really isnt a need to invest in a mid-tier brand like Ridgid or Kobalt.

8:16 have you used that trimmer yet? I bought one a couple weeks ago and today I set it up and used it, I put in the the head with the two little plastic orange blades and I am right-handed so I stand on the left side of it, as you were doing, I hit a couple little pebbles while I was cutting weeds and it threw one of those pebbles back at me hard enough that my leg was all bloody because it put a gash in my leg. I'll definitely be wearing heavier weight pants next time are you out and use it, which will probably be tomorrow. I'll also be switching out to the string instead of the blades, since I broke one of the blades today.
Something you didn't mention about the trimmer is that that one also works with the add-ons can't think what the system is called, in addition to the trimmer head I've got a hedge trimmer head, a 10-in chainsaw, a cultivator, and a much larger string trimmer, So that 140 volt motor works for multiple tools.

It's funny that you said tool #1 would be good to buy your wife to keep her out of you tools. Back in the '90s, when my wife started teaching elementary school, she kept borrowing my good Craftsman tools to take to her classroom. So, I bought her a cheap toolbox and loaded it with cheap tools. Some Sears Companion screwdrivers and a bunch of Buffalo brand stuff. I later upgraded her to a My Pink Toobox set. They're pretty nice, but it's all pink. That way the school custodians won't want to borrow them any more.
I have the old version of #2. It's awesome, but the hanging hooks are cheap plastic. I don't expect them to last long. It doesn't have bright or dim, either. You can just choose between one of either light panels, or both. I use that thing a lot. It's really handy.

I really like how Ryobi makes all those cool homeowner gadgets that the other brands will never do, and this may be a very hated and unpopular opinion, but I actually love the usb lithium 3/8 ratchet that everyone hates on for being "underpowered". I will admit that when I first got it, it was very underpowered and underwhelming to use, just like everyone said. But I bought a 3ah battery for it and started using it at work, and the more I used it the better it got. Honestly, I've had it apart and from what I can see, the problem is that there is an abundance of spring tension (and sticky grease) in the head. This really bogs the brushed motor down. I took it apart and cleaned it up and put some less tacky grease inside and after I'd say about a week of use, it really started to work as intended (Break/torque it by hand and power drive it out/in). I do believe that if Ryobi makes a brushless verion of the ratchet, it would probably perfrom much more towards peoples expectations. But if your willing to break it in, the little ratchet is pretty handy.

For some heavy hitters like hammer drills and recips I have metabo hpt and a few m12 compacts, like the 3/8th impact and rotary tool. But ryobi is sufficient for 90% of my tools, 4v, 18, and 40v

We had a similar experience also it seems as though that home Depot is trying to go employee less that means they don't want any employees in the entire store so if you need help you'll never find them when it comes to check out time it's like no one knows what to do with these new machines seems like a big waste of time and more often than not the people that do not pay just walk right out the door can't see home Depot staying in business if they have no cashiers truly remarkable this is just my opinion😊

I do like Ryobi keeping their batteries compatible over the years so you can still use Ryobi tools purchased years ago. I hate to throw tools away (yeah, I’m talking to you Bosch) because they periodically decide to discontinue providing batteries, forcing you to buy something new. Ryobi is literally more green (I mean environmental) by not doing this.

Ryobi's 40V line is pretty good, but it doesn't hold a candle to Ego's ecosystem. Pick a Ryobi 40V tool, and Ego most likely has a version that is better. In the case of the fan, Ego's fan will connect to a hose and mist as well. Ego's new string trimmer has a carbon fiber shaft and will automatically dispense more line so you don't need to bump the head.

Yes, the RYOBI Multi-Head Screwdriver Kit should keep my spouse out of my "real" tools ;) I think I'll get it for him for _my_ birthday 😁
In all seriousness, I have no complaints about Ryobi for what I do - homeowner chores and starting to get serious about woodworking. Right tools for the sorts of jobs and budget I have. In the kitchen I have a lovely Le Creuset dutch oven, but I have a lighter non-premium alternative that gets the job done most of the time too. Right tool, right occasion.
Now, about that Speedbench - that could be the right tool for a lot of occasions!

I am currently outside Las Vegas 40 miles out into the desert, so i dont think ill be making any of those events. BUT in the not too distant future ill be moving to Arkansas, Batesville area, how close are you to that area?
I have a little bit of a shopping addition, a couple years ago i decided i didnt have room for anymore shit. (my addiction was fir great deals on stuff that i might eventually need) but i made a rule for buying stuff now, i can only buy Ryobi stuff, Guns and gun accessories. I also either have to NEED the tool or have to get it on a really good deal. Based on those rules... I now have 10 of the HP 18v tools, 18 if the standard 18v tools, 5 of the 40v plus the 4 additional, add-on tools for the trimmer motor, and another 11 of the USB tools. I went looking for that multi head screwdriver, it is not available, the speed bench, not available, i think the speed bench is probably out of my price range anyway. I also really like that fan, but i have no need for the fan so unless i find it at 50% or more off i probably wont be getting the fan.

Ryobi and Rigid look similar because they are owned and manufactured by the same Chinese company, Techtronic Industries. Which incidentally also owns and manufactures Milwaukee power tools. That being said. Ryobi tools are affordable and "good enough" tools for the homeowner that wants to do a few DIY projects.

Let me know how that chain saw does with the oil sitting in it. Dewalt has issues with the oil leaking in all the battery chain saws they have out (not sure on the 14" since it was just released) so curious how this one does. We know Craftsman is made by Dewalt so not sure I want that one either. I run both those battery platforms but if this chain saw does not leak then might have to get in another platform. Keep up the great work. Hope to see you all visit Richmond , VA Woodcraft and Rockler. 👽
