My thought is they were trying to go for someone who owns old cars that they fix up themselves. A stereotype of rural poor areas is that there are broken down cars on cinder blocks in the front yard, making the neighborhood 'undesirable'. Doesn't work as well for an urban setting though.
"Supernatural" and "Into the Future" were some of favorite expansions ever in The Sims 3. I know some players don't really care about them because they mess with the slice-of-life aspect they enjoy about the games, but I've always loved the Magic Realism side to of The Sims, so they were right up my alley in that regard.
Supernatural was my first Sims 3 expansion, and I can't tell you the amount of absolute joy I got making neon emo fairies. It holds a place in my heart
I'm always a sucker for the occult sims and bought Sims 3 with the Supernatural expansion, so it made me so happy it gave me not one, not two, but FOUR occults. If you hadn't bought Late Night, it unlocked Vampires because they were so integral to the backstory, it had Werewolves, Witches, and Faeries and it was the most fun I'd had playing the game. So yeah, Supernatural was a great addition, really felt like they cared back then.
12:00- Oh my God thank you for explaining the trauma of my Sim, having just given birth to twins, getting stuck in a hedge and starving to death. I never knew why that happened.
I think somethings that gets forgotten about is the Sims 3 Store content. It was very much the precursor to the Sims 4 model of pulling out bits from packs to sell you later but obfuscated by being priced in "simbucks". I remember it kinda a joke because they were really easy to share around and would pop up within 24 hrs of their release. When I started seeing Sims 4 Game Packs/Stuff Packs/Kits it made we wonder if that was one of the reasons they rush release of Sims 4.

Izzy! It’d be cool to see a video about something that’s uniquely about/from New Zealand pop culture. As an American, I usually see a lot of videos about American stuff, but I’d love to learn about something that really only happened in New Zealand. Great video!!
I'd love to see a kind of NZ pop culture iceberg or ranking. When it comes to books and animation especially, New Zeland and Australia have done some really unique or downright gorgeous stuff. The artists behind stuff like Footrot Flats (especially the film) and Hairy Maclary did not need to go as hard as they did.
Tbh I love active careers. Get to Work flopped, but Sims 3 had some great active careers. Sims 4's ghost hunter and actor careers are also fun. You can't do them all the time because it'll get repetitive, but they're optional and you can still enjoy the careers as normal rabbit holes.
to me I don't mind DLC when it actually feels like an EXPANSION. some expansion packs for sims 3 and most for sims 4 should have come with the base game
PIRATE THE GAMES!!!!! You can get any full game with every single dlc pack. Support businesses you want to support but for greedy companies PIRATE THOSE GAMES!!!!
"oh but I don't have a computer I only play on console" You can get a pc that can run pretty much any game for cheaper than the sims 4 with all dlc so pay for one game or pay for a pc and get all the games?
the final straw for me was the high school years pack. i was SO excited because it added features i had always dreamed of and i was waiting for months for it to come out, but when it did, it literally broke everyone’s game and didn’t work. apparently the reasoning is because they no longer had hundreds of international testers as they always used to, instead they only had THREE (3) outsourced indian testers who approved it because they didn’t know what flaws to look for (which was the same reason my wedding stories was so broken, but high school years was even worse, it literally corrupted peoples save files). i didn’t end up buying the pack and haven’t opened my sims 4 game since. it’s so obvious they care way more about profit than actually making good games, and it’s just not even fun anymore
I live in an overpriced beach town, and one of the boutique icecream shops has a massive picture of Katy Perry from the sweet treats expansion up on the wall LMAO
same goes for seasons, i get seasons being a dlc has always been a thing, but it just feels wild that something as simple as seasons are something you have to pay for, especially since it doesn't even really effect gameplay all that much, sure it's fun but most of the time it's just there in the background. some of the game packs like realm of magic give you more to Actually Do in the game so it's wild that growing together and seasons are more expensive.
Re: “making too many videos about the Sims” I got into your content back when you released your video on Warrior cats, as I was hugely into that series as a kid. From there I watched more of your stuff and realized we were around the same age (I was born in 97) and our childhoods had a lot of the same core interests as a result - Neopets, Warriors, the Sims, etc… and not only that, you introduced me to a lot of really interesting stuff I wasn’t aware of (e.g., I loved your video about The Path - a super cool thing I had never heard of!) Anyway, I write all that to say: 1) you should make videos about whatever you want to, because your passion for breaking down and talking about these subjects is clear in your videos and is a huge part of their appeal and reach, and 2) I genuinely love your videos about the Sims and am always happy to hear you talk more about the series :) it was a huge part of my childhood, too (specifically 2 & 3). Anyway, thanks for all you do! Hope you continue to make videos about things you’re passionate about; I’ll be here to watch. :)
honestly learning about the katy perry pack as a teen was devastating. the potential for an all-in-one pack that would let you create a maximalist color explosion candy world sounds amazing, but the actual contents of the pack are so phoned in and look like dog water in TS3's lighting system. a tragedy. also, wasn't the weddings pack actually banned in russia after the sims team announced they were going back on what they said and planning to release it there? like, them raising a stink brought attention to it or something-- i remember that being talked about, but it might've just been a rumor lmao
How university worked in TS2 was so weird. Let alone that it doubled the time the sims spent as an adult, you could technically enroll the kid to the university the same day he became a teenager, basically going from elementary school to early 20s in one day. So amusing.
The Sims4 Get To Work is the epitome of the fanbase asking for a feature the devs knew they would hate and the devs giving in like "oh, you think you WANT that? fine, here it is! It's what you wanted, why are you complaining?"
The Sims 2 Expansion and Stuff Packs were LIT 🔥 It’s a shame they don’t really make them like that anymore. You actually felt like you got something out of each one
one of the first things i learned about my current boss at work is their disdain for Sims 3 Pets. We have arguments about it to this day, and I'm pretty sure the argument will outlive us.
Island Paradise was my fave Sims 3 expansion (I had them all except showtime), but I don't really remember playing in the Isla Paradiso world at all. I had earlier downloaded a custom world by fagersims called Enekjaer Island, it's this super cute (and really nicely made) Scandinavian-inspired island. The world was made before IP came out and so i had a lot of fun adding the IP content to the world, adding coral reefs, a dock or two, and I loved building houseboats. I didn't have any of the issues you mentioned that I recall, but it probably helped that I wasn't using the Isla Paradiso world. Later I would visit some islands outside Stockholm in Sweden and I instantly remembered Enekjaer, I had such nostalgia walking around Swedish islands I'd never been to before, lol. fagersims really did such a great job, if you still play Sims 3 I definitely recommend it, it's still up for download.
I could listen to you talk about the sims for hours. I use to be big into the sims 2, well I only had the base game and 2 expansion packs bc I didnt have a lot of money. I posted a ton on the Sims 2 website back in the day. I always want to get into the sims but its very cost prohibitive so I like to hear people talk about it as its a series I still want to enjoy.
7:43 I remember being up at 1 am playing the sims and I was like “I wonder if it’ll let me make these two girls kiss” and that was the beginning of my fall into an endless rabbit hole of queer content
I will never be able to replicate the feeling of sheer joy and excitement I had at 15 years old watching the trailer for the Island Paradise expansion ending with a freaking mermaid! I was absolutely obsessed with mermaids as a child and even as a teenager this immediately made me wish for the expansion pack
took me years later to realize it was island paradise that broke my game but it was such a fun expansion pack, still look back at it as one of the best packs
Please don´t apologize for making sims videos, make as many as you want; they always make my day! I love them; I think I´ve watched all of them at least twice, and I could watch them again. Btw The Sims 3 World Adventures has always been my favourite expansion; it´s not the best but I loved it SO much, I had a blast playing like my sim was Indiana Jones exploring the Pyramids or the underground temples in China lmao. Also next to the pets I´d add the 4 Seasons expansion, no matter for which sims. I think it adds so much realism to the game. It was my first sims 2 expansion and the first expansion I bought for the sims 4 and just with that the experience changes so much, it truly is remarkable how the weather and the mood depending on it can make it so much more realistic. I never had it on sims 3 and I always noticed its absence.
This reminded me that I need to try and mod Island Paradise so it actually works because I actually love(d) it but the neighbourhood became unplayable just as I was settled in and starting to get it D:
I was definitely a custom content girlie when I used to play Sims 3 religiously. The community was huge and filled with talented people that gave out their designs for free
I'd love to see a part two to this covering more expansions, my favorite was the Future DLC for Sims 3 for introducing robots and three different futures you could time travel to and from to help change. It was such an interesting thing to play, and the robots were a lot of fun !
I absolutely love the hat. I'm honestly jealous it's not mine I'd love a review of every expansion. I'm not even that into the sims but I can tell you're passionate about it and it's really fun to hear you talk about. Don't try cutting the video for time either, 1 hour or 12, I'll be watching ! /nf /gen
I watched this with my wife. She told me that she's one of probably a dozen people in the entire world who actually liked the Katy Perry expansion because she really loves bright colors and food-themed decor!
It's not really in that it gives what it promises. The effort -> reward ratio is just not worth it for most people unless you're constantly switching & downloading new games already anyways.
I am a long-time fan of The Sims 3, but the game is a beast that needs a hell of a lot of power to run. Probably my favourite expansion though is "Into the Future", because of the things it did to improve gardening - the Plumbots and the garden rugs. Before the rugs, a greenhouse could not have a floor, but the rugs made floors doable and thus greenhouses could have the debuff about incomplete renovation removed. Put those in along with certain mod items for gardening (the gardening gnome and a few container mods) and one has an amazing gardening set-up.
I just recently found your channel because I felt nostalgic and started playing Sims 2 again. I have to say I really enjoy watching your videos and absolutely love your unique style :)
This channel is such a comfort for me! I would love to see you cover the history of Garfield horror! It's gotten such a resurgence on TikTok and I find it so interesting. The depiction of Garfield as an eldritch horror is not new to the internet and I would love a deep dive on it! Lots of love!
It’s amazing how much more in-depth and fun the Sims 2 was. It’s ridiculous that a game that came out 20 years ago was more engaging in so many ways than the Sims 4.
I have always been a collector to a fault. Back in the day when I played the sims 3 I had to have all the expansion packs (didn't really care about the stuff packs), and once I got into the sims 4 I needed every pack that was released because I wanted a complete collection; or well, I needed every pack until Journey to Batuu was released. My dislike for journey to Batuu was so intense that I've barely bought any sims 4 packs since its release, because I knew I'd never get journey to Batuu, meaning that I'd never have a full collection, so having everything except for one pack was pointless. Even when I torrented every pack I didn't own, I still didn't download Batuu. That's probably the best thing I can say about the pack: It helped me to no longer feel like I needed a full collection
I haven't played the Sims in years, but I do remember coming home from work on the bus when I was 17 clutching a grocery bag filled with the Sims 2 and a bunch of expansions my coworker had lent me. I was so sure someone was going to mug me for used computer games XD University and the pet one was my favorite, I liked having my sim write an essay while I wrote an essay so I could race against them. I hope that you'll cover the new Sims For Rent expansion soon, it certainly sounds interesting but I wonder if it's going to end up being a similar play experience to the careers one.
I love hearing you talk about the Sims. It's not a game series I enjoy playing but I've really enjoyed hearing you talk about the lore, production, and bugs. It's fun to hear someone talk about something they love!
14:04 - with all these modders that have started putting their stuff behind permanent paywalls, even cc isn't easily accessible anymore. yes, there are several creators who do put their cc up for free or adhere to the early access rule, but a good chunk of the higher quality content is unfortunately paywalled (i'm looking at YOU specifically, cowbuild and leosims). i get that cc is difficult to make, but a lot of these cc creators are usually just ripping models from imvu and converting them.
I still remember the Makin Magic expansion for the Sims 1, and I think it remains my favorite. Everything from the atmospheric music, to being able to hatch a dragon and keep it as your (terrible, no good, very bad little arsonist) pet, to the magic dueling mini game & skill, to the ambiance, has still stuck with me. Actually, I just remember loving the Sims 1 (and some Sims 2) expansion packs in general, but Makin Magic is still the GOAT.
I love that you are covering all of the games and cracking some of those rose tinted glasses about the past. That being said, city living for sims 4 has run down apartments with mice and noisy neighbors who’s doors you have to bang on as well as beautiful penthouses for when you can move out of that crappy apartment and move up in the world. Tho I would still rank Sims 2 as doing apartment life overall best. As for active careers, I don’t think EVERY career needs to be active, my Sim who has an office job can just go to the office, I’ll see them when they get back. In fact, I like a mix of rabbit hole filler jobs and fun stuff that actually make sense as an active career. The detective career in Sims 4 COULD have worked if clue gathering was actually a thing and its not, the game just has a cycle of random things they throw at you and make it easy for anyone to be a detective. I think active careers should be inherently more challenging, like mini rpg. Tho I think a lot of the non-get to work active careers actually are fun to play. I got Get Famous on a lark in sale just cause I wanted the fame system for my musically talented sim. But decided to play with the active acting career and for a week I was literally obsessed and I still come back to it for some Sims. The Scientist career is also litterally the best thing in the Get to Work pack as it actually has progression that goes some fun places. I am still mad they have nursing as a lower stage of the doctor career as being a nurse and being a doctor are two different jobs and in 2024, we should know better. If all school and careers are active, then you are going to be missing someone’s day as most people get married and have kids in sims, I find too many active things get frustrating after awhile. As you have to pick and choose who you care to work on progressing the most. When I follow the active high school day I find my parent Sims just get left to their own devices a lot. Same with university if the Sim lives at home. In Sims 4, I think the failure with active high school was also the focus on classes over activities. I’d rather follow my sims to activities and clubs over class. I think this is something Sims 4 university was better at then Sims 4 High School Years. Class as a rabbit hole is totally fine for me, but an active school with club rooms and club activities would be fun. Also, by your sims “can’t go to the hospital” when they are preggers (Sims 4) do you mean for checkups or birth cause you can def give birth at the hospital if you have “get to work”. I usually have my babies at home now tho cause the trip isn’t worth it. You go, if you bring your partner a lot of time your partner/other baby parent/spouse gets distracted and wanders off to play on the computer or get snacks and your doc uses a weird machine to pluck the baby out, then you, the baby, and (if they came) the baby’s other parent just teleport home. There is no “experience” at the hospital that makes it worth going. Might as well stand in front of the bassinet and do it at home.
It would have been very cool if the generations expansion had given you mobility stairs! My aunt (not elderly at the time but having lived with post-polio her whole life) had a lift chair on her staircase and it was awesome. Idk i guess i just like thw thought lol
love ur sims content sm!!! would u consider making a video about the sims spinoff handheld games like urbz and bustin out for the gba/ds (the ones that are wacky adventure games lol)
In defence of Journey to Batuu, it came out at the exact right time for me. Our family was meant to go on our first ever trip to Disney World that week, but it had to be cancelled due to covid lockdowns. It gave us a chance to have a fun little imaginary trip on the day we should have been in Galaxy’s Edge. Glad to say, two years later, we got to experience the real thing. Shoutout to the Jabba Juice in the cantina.

I think the implication of gearheads is that mechanical labour is often considered low working class jobs, aka blue collar, like plumbers, vehicle mechanics, electricians, power plant engineers, welders, construction, etc.
makes me sad as an automotive tech. do you guys really see us like that? we are highly educated people and have to know a lot of things, i actually am in school for it right now.
@@largesquidsnah, it’s an assumption rich and out of touch people have, most people don’t actually think that, don’t worry.
It's also crazy because those jobs make good money
My thought is they were trying to go for someone who owns old cars that they fix up themselves. A stereotype of rural poor areas is that there are broken down cars on cinder blocks in the front yard, making the neighborhood 'undesirable'. Doesn't work as well for an urban setting though.

So controversial, and yet so brave.
Makes sense - IRL penguins are piscivores (piss-sih-vaws).
Those were my 2 favorite packs!
The future kit is my favourite.
It is SO FUN messing around with the future! And I won't lie, seeing your sim slowly lose themselves to a paradox is fun.

Will never forgive them for paywalling the cowplant
Something that also gets forgotten is that Sims 2 also had a digital storefront. Sims 3 didn't introduce it, but it did get worse with each iteration.
@@skootzkadoodlesand the cowplant death didn't even have a new ghost colour. It was just the same as dying from starvation in the game :/
@@cursedseagullgames oh yeah I remember the sims 2 store. And least to my memory, I didn't remember feeling like anything there was held back from expansions or stuff packs that I did with the sims 3.
@@annabeth5649 This is very true. From what I can see, the site was mostly clothing and item sets, along with preorder bonuses.

Izzy! It’d be cool to see a video about something that’s uniquely about/from New Zealand pop culture. As an American, I usually see a lot of videos about American stuff, but I’d love to learn about something that really only happened in New Zealand. Great video!!
yep, i second that.
though any Izzy’s content is pure gold regardless
Like are there any con dramas or video games that we dont know about!
Could do a collab with ManyKudos on this, he's done videos similar (his chocolate milk video springs to mind!)
Tbh I love active careers. Get to Work flopped, but Sims 3 had some great active careers. Sims 4's ghost hunter and actor careers are also fun. You can't do them all the time because it'll get repetitive, but they're optional and you can still enjoy the careers as normal rabbit holes.

the final straw for me was the high school years pack. i was SO excited because it added features i had always dreamed of and i was waiting for months for it to come out, but when it did, it literally broke everyone’s game and didn’t work. apparently the reasoning is because they no longer had hundreds of international testers as they always used to, instead they only had THREE (3) outsourced indian testers who approved it because they didn’t know what flaws to look for (which was the same reason my wedding stories was so broken, but high school years was even worse, it literally corrupted peoples save files). i didn’t end up buying the pack and haven’t opened my sims 4 game since. it’s so obvious they care way more about profit than actually making good games, and it’s just not even fun anymore
I have little to no knowledge about the sims, but these Sims related videos izzy makes always release happy chemicals in my brain so why not
same
I live in an overpriced beach town, and one of the boutique icecream shops has a massive picture of Katy Perry from the sweet treats expansion up on the wall LMAO
Growing Together shouldn't have been a pack, just an update
same goes for seasons, i get seasons being a dlc has always been a thing, but it just feels wild that something as simple as seasons are something you have to pay for, especially since it doesn't even really effect gameplay all that much, sure it's fun but most of the time it's just there in the background. some of the game packs like realm of magic give you more to Actually Do in the game so it's wild that growing together and seasons are more expensive.
That behind-the-scenes footage of Katy singing TGIF in Simlish lives rent free in my head
Re: “making too many videos about the Sims”
I got into your content back when you released your video on Warrior cats, as I was hugely into that series as a kid. From there I watched more of your stuff and realized we were around the same age (I was born in 97) and our childhoods had a lot of the same core interests as a result - Neopets, Warriors, the Sims, etc… and not only that, you introduced me to a lot of really interesting stuff I wasn’t aware of (e.g., I loved your video about The Path - a super cool thing I had never heard of!)
Anyway, I write all that to say:
1) you should make videos about whatever you want to, because your passion for breaking down and talking about these subjects is clear in your videos and is a huge part of their appeal and reach,
and
2) I genuinely love your videos about the Sims and am always happy to hear you talk more about the series :) it was a huge part of my childhood, too (specifically 2 & 3).
I've always loved Makin' Magic from the Sims 1. None of the other 'supernatural' themed packs have ever nailed the aesthetic like that one did.
one of the first things i learned about my current boss at work is their disdain for Sims 3 Pets.
I'm surprised this video isn't 3 hours long.
I would've watched it.

Very surprised you never mentioned Sims 2 Seasons. Was an absolutely wonderful expansion and one of my favorites.

28:08 Personally I'm a huge fan of your sims videos, so I wouldn't mind more sims-heavy content!
Izzy perfectly planning their sims videos to perfectly release when I'm obsessed with the sims again:
The community was huge and filled with talented people that gave out their designs for free
i just finished a 4 hour sims iceberg by Plumbella only to find that you uploaded more sims content, you are truly feeding me
I would literally watch every video you ever make about the sims. IMO it's never too much! Thanks for the fun video c:
Never apologize for talking too much about The Sims 😆 I actually found your channel through your Sims videos and I could watch these all day.
I'd love to see a part two to this covering more expansions, my favorite was the Future DLC for Sims 3 for introducing robots and three different futures you could time travel to and from to help change. It was such an interesting thing to play, and the robots were a lot of fun !
I absolutely love the hat. I'm honestly jealous it's not mine
I'd love a review of every expansion.
I love videos when you talk about the Sims I can really feel the joy you had while playing them growing up
the sponsor sounds like such a scam
So it's annoying and inconvenient and I'd never use it unless you were truly so unemployed and broke... But it isn't a scam
It does give you stuff but it takes like 200 hours to get one thing.
Shhhhh izzzyzzz is just collecting the bag
Yeahhh. I know, get that money and all. But content creators shoveling obviously garbage sponsorships to their viewers leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
It's never too much Izzy 😭
Make as many videos about the Sims as you want, I will watch them all💅
"Gearhead" can also refer to fans of induatrial music. Due to how they dress, I'm pretty sure thats the definition that apartment life was going for

It’s amazing how much more in-depth and fun the Sims 2 was. It’s ridiculous that a game that came out 20 years ago was more engaging in so many ways than the Sims 4.
PLEASE do a video on ToonTown! I feel like you’d be perfect for a video like that. Much love 💓
99% of the sims 2 packs slayed so hard imo, i'm so glad sims 1 and 2 were my childhood games 😭❤️
That's probably the best thing I can say about the pack: It helped me to no longer feel like I needed a full collection
izz is the only source I trust for sims information
I haven't played the Sims in years, but I do remember coming home from work on the bus when I was 17 clutching a grocery bag filled with the Sims 2 and a bunch of expansions my coworker had lent me. I was so sure someone was going to mug me for used computer games XD University and the pet one was my favorite, I liked having my sim write an essay while I wrote an essay so I could race against them.
I hope that you'll cover the new Sims For Rent expansion soon, it certainly sounds interesting but I wonder if it's going to end up being a similar play experience to the careers one.
Katy singing in simlish is honestly worth the price
