10,000 miles in 6 weeks is crazy ! Filter looks amazing. Thanks for cut and review.
You're Welcome!
Yeah. Crazy. -- 41.66 miles-per-hour for 40 hours per week (non-stop) is a tough gig to pull off.
The pleats looked pretty clean -- BUT -- it's a THIRTY (30) Micron filter, which ain't very good.
On several occasions, the famous 95 MERC ran the Mobil 1 filter with 5-W-20 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum for the usual 5,000-mile OCI.
Not impressed -- didn't keep my oil clean -- much too expensive for a 30 micron oil filter.
MUCH better results from the 20-Micron-rated BOSCH Premium -- and for less money, too !
In spite of it's poor Micron rating, the Mobil 1 filter is STILL very popular -- P.T. Barnum was right !! 😁
@@SlikLizrd I agree on the 30micron vs 20micron oil filters. I don't run the 30's.
@@John_D2 Yes, and ya gotta be careful, because SOME oil filters advertise : "99% efficiency with particles GREATER THAN 20 Microns -- but I prefer the Bosch Premium, which states : "99% efficiency with particles AT 20 Microns" .
I have run BOTH filters, and cut 'em both open after 5,000 miles of use.
The Bosch Premium held the most dirt, and my oil stayed clean longer with the Bosch Premium.
The Bosch Premium has proven to be the best FOR 5,000-MILE O.C.I.s -- for extended oil change intervals, the FRAM Ultra would be my 1st choice.
Made March 08,2022 by Purolator , Fayetteville NC. Look very much like the Purolator Pure One and Bosch Prem filters, but those both have a better efficiency 'rating'. 10k miles in 6 weeks would be easiest on the M1 blend filter media. Less moisture/condensation cycles, more miles at operating temps. Look excellent including seam pleat area spacing. 👍 Thanks for video.
Absolutely agree. With this style of driving (approximately 340 miles per day) of constant work for 6 weeks in the summer, the engine and oil wear out less if these 10,000 miles were driven in a year.
Your Welcome faxmen09!
So nice of Phil to send you this good-quality filter! You did a great job cleaning all the parts. Looks like you're getting positive comments with regard to this filter. Must be a filter worth buying. Another nice review. Your voice has a calming effect on the viewer. Enjoy watching and learning about filters! Beautiful weather in the north east region. We're even supposed to get some rain on and off today. YaY! 👍
The above means that I enjoy viewing and learning about filters! 🙂
Thanks, Ella, Thanks, Phil.
We could sure use some rain.
Glad you liked the video, have a Great week!😊
@@WhipCityWrencher , Same to You! 🙂👍
Nice 👍
10k every 6 weeks that's a lot ! ...I go less in 1 year
Sweet review 👍
Commercial use.
Me Too! 😊
Looks like a good filter.
This is "not bad" one's. Good filters - *Baldwin filters* 😉 For this vehicle - *Baldwin B7444*
Commercial transport. About 340 miles per day. The engine is 3.5l. I would try to choose a “more volumetric” filter with same coupling dimensions.
Looks like a well made filter and I am impressed how relatively clean the residual oil is in this filter after 10 K miles. This filter looks like a Purolator Boss filter. The bypass valve is a Purolator design and the base plate looks identical even down to the markings stamped in it. I would use this filter but I have noticed it more expensive than the comparatively Purolator filter.
Thanks for sharing
Purolator one not boss. Synthetic blend media not like the full synthetic on the boss. And only 99 percent at 30 microns. Boss is like 20 microns. It’s a way better filter than the mobile especially for the money. Get the nice purolator one filter instead of the mobile and save money
@@ajmedeiros77 Thanks Andrew for the clarification on the filter media for the Purolator Boss and Purolator One. However I wrote that the Mobil 1 filter looks like a Boss filter, not that it is a Boss filter for the following: Both the Boss and Mobil are in a black can with the Mobil using a sticker for identification. Both filters claim 20,000 miles range. Both filters use a black nitrile rubber or ethylene acrylic gasket. The Purolator One is in a blue can with a red PTFE coated gasket and is rated for 15,000 miles. The Boss and the Purolator One both have the same internals except for the filter media. So I wonder why the Mobil claims a 20,000 mile range.
Beautiful video. Love it Dear , Keep Upload
My Dear Friend , Thanks for share🍷🍷
These fit my impala. They're excellent filters. I used them for a while. Now i use fully synthetic filters. Tride and true on these. 10K is allot.
what fully synthetic filters are you buying?
@@rpsmith NAPA PL &/OR PURBOSS,
Great Video love it
Thank You!
Judging by how clean the residual oil is, I'd say the fleet is in good shape! The filter looks great!
I have one of these currently installed in my vehicle. As expected, it seems like a solid filter overall, but I'm not sure it's worth the $15 price it's usually listed at. In my case, I found an oil filter that crosses with this for less than half the price, but similar or better performance. Nothing against this M1 filter, but it seems a bit overpriced.
Hi John,
Thanks for sharing!
Stick with the Champ XL if you want a higher interval filter, otherwise regular Champ work well
That's a good looking filter, but I think I'll stick with the Purolator Boss.
They are good filters
Good choice of engine oil and oil filter ! since the fleet is using the same oil and changed every 6 weeks it would make for a good oil analysis !
Hi Scotty,
Yes, it would, maybe he'll send me one?
Thanks for the feedback.
@@WhipCityWrencher ive been seeing alot of oil reports from blackstone labs vehicles with 5,000 mile intervals and the lab is saying go another 2,000 the only report ive seen over 10k was an amsoil commercial
Great work as usual. No way in hades I go 10K on an oil change in anything.
Thanks!
Spend the money and send your oil to a lab after longer and longer intervals. You're likely to find your oil and filter are just fine after 10k. That's what I discovered with 50/50 driving city/hwy. On the other hand if you just enjoy changing your oil more often have at it.
@@rl7880 Yes I'm well aware of oil analysis, Blackstone Labs and all that good stuff. For me its less about the money and more about the peace of mind. I have a Ford 3.5 Ecoboost engine which tends to have some fuel dilution problems which I change at 4K. I change my own oil and do all my own maintenance so its not particularly expensive anyway.
Do you guys use corn syrup as oil? That Transit could easily do 20k miles with that kind of driving. Just look at EU service intervals and our cars are just fine. Heck even my 2001 Renault Clio with 1,4 liter engine has 15k km (almost 10k miles) service interval. It just takes little over 3 liters of oil and has almost 300 000 km driven.
@@Tsiikki Direct injected turbocharged engines have fuel dilution problems not to mention oil is fairly cheap. Also in my case we're talking a 400 HP/500 lb/ft TQ in an almost new vehicle, not a 20 year old car with barely 100 HP. I change the oil myself and spend maybe $40 for the oil and filter.
HEE ! HEE ! HEE ! I've noticed that you really know how to cut those filters open, Whip -- them other guys just can't seem to gather your filter-cutting skill level.
Thanks!😉
When I look at these filters the thing that comes to my mind is how many parts can be reused to minimize the pollution on this world.
Supposed to be "premium", yet the filtering efficiency is not great. I prefer a metal-crimped media seam. There was a little sloppy glue blobs seen, which you might think could have come loose during a bypass event. Some other filters don't have the loose glue problem, MicroGard Select & Fram Ultra among the best, with better everything, better deal. Other than over-hyped, under-performing, over-priced, it's OK. Adequate.
I don't like sloppy extra glue oil filters either but this one wasn't too bad and held up well.
Thanks for your feedback!👍
A nice oil filter. The quality looks excellent and it appears that the filter works very well.
I have used Mobil One filters on both my car and truck for a lot of years, but never run the miles up even close to 10. I did get the miles up to 8 one time on my Camry, but not by choice.
Thanks for sharing!
It was filter from commercial vehicle. This engine, volume of oil is ready for 10000 miles between oil changes.
Nice video, I rather spend a couple extra bucks on a quality oil filter then a major engine overhaul, That jus me do.
Thank You!
Yeah, but just what makes for a "quality oil filter" !?? Who you gonna ask ?? What are YOUR requirements ??
Seems like a good filter. Another great review! TFS Pete. Very good! Merri :)
Thanks, Merri.
Have a Great week!😊
Looks like a well-made filter at a good price
My goto.
I have some fl1 oil filters new. C1az-6731-a if you want one to open up let me know
Hi Mike,
Thanks, but I just opened the 6731 it will be shown on May 26th. I have so many filter requests and I'm not complaining but I have only so many Fridays or even used Tuesday's oil filters to fill. Let me know in a couple of months maybe things will slow down. Thanks!
Filter held up well. Too many miles per oil change for me. But no sludge or metal pieces.
So looks like they hold up to their 20,000 mile or one year service recommendation
This one went 10,000 miles but it could probably do 20,000 miles.
Then again, who would wants to go that long on the same oil?
Thanks!👍
10k miles on a single oil change is way to long . I would never go pass 5k on a single oil change . And I put in a half a quart of marvel mystery oil in every oil change . After 300k on my honda vtec motor , it does not use a drop of oil or burn any . And the engine runs very quiet .
No.This is a commercial vehicle what is a ready for condition.
How can this be rated for 20k but the Purolator One is the same or better media but rated for 10k and the One has MORE material as well ?.. The One is rated at 20 micron and this Mobil 30 micron. LOL... This Mobil is over $11 now at Walmart which is ridiculous.. Purolator One $6.99 on Amazon with a $2 coupon. . that should be the price for this "Mobil" filter as well... also the One adds the outer gasket as silicone which the Mobil doesn't even have.
I believe the One is now rated for 15K and they didn't change anything? LOL
"Just Numbers"
You guys more believes this "fairy tales"
I run mobile1 synthetic with mobile1 filter.
I change oil every 7k miles.
Should I go up to 10k?
These are mostly highway miles every 4 months or so.
Thanks, but I can't answer that too many variables come into play.
I would start off with getting a used oil analysis next time you change your oil. See how it looks an go from there.
Do 5000 max. I do 3000.
looks like a lot of CRAP in filter & in 'can' like i said b4, i ran my AMSOIL filter & oil 3 yrs, 2 mos & 2 days, going 23,671 miles... my filter looks like u could use it again... neighbor runs m1 & fram filter around 10k now & it looks black as coal... NEVER will i use m1 or fram... only AMSOIL f/now on...
Thanks for your feedback
Still please change your oil every 3 to 5k miles 10 is way to much
Phil said the oil reports are good, but would be interesting to see. I look at it this way, 10k miles in less than 2 months on the oil may be about the same as going 3-5k miles in one year?
@@WhipCityWrencher Sir 6 weeks is a 1,5 month 😉
@@WhipCityWrencher Right Whip. Today's quality Synthetic Oils like M1 5w30 used here can do 10k miles without issue. Especially so here, where the 10k done in a very very short time, 6 weeks. Most all done at engine operating temps, which is key. Phil's doing just fine with this oci here. I'd say 10k in up to one year with M1, AOK.
@@Andrew__Smith oops I meant 2 months
I have a Nissan with 480k miles never had no oil leaks or issues with anything but a water pump it's because I change the oil every 4500miles even tho the book says 10k
