- BMW XM Unveiled - I can’t believe what I’m seeing! The new 2023 BMW XM is a plug-in hybrid with a twin-turbo V-8 packing 645 hp and 590 pound-feet of torque and the price? Well it will start at $160k when it goes on sale early next year.
Later on there will be a Label Red version of the BMW XM with 735hp which sounds pretty nuts, but so does the weight at over 6000lb.
It’s definitely going to need all that power to move this beast around.

It is much better than the concept, but in my opinion, it still doesn't look good. I especially don't like the headlights under the very squinty running lights, which they also did with the 7-series. To me, that running light-headlight design appears like they pressed the top of one car onto another. Also, I guess they wanted to pay homage to the M1 with the slats on the rear lights, but I don't like them either.
You don’t have to like it but that’s the new thing now a lot of makes are going with split design dead lights now
@@fciz2023 I agree, but what I mean here is that there are way better implementations of the split headlight designs out there. This design in particular somehow accentuates the stacked cars look, in my opinion.

As a 23 years of industrial design I can sincerly say that the sketches are beautiful, but the production version is a total aesthetic mess. Also looks kitsch and cheap. But of course, there are plenty of same kind of people and their tastes that will appreciate this disturbing block.
I'm neither a BMW owner/fanboy nor a SUV fan, but I think this is a damn good looking car all around. Love the exhaust tips and the headlights.

I think it looks good. lot of people seems to take the huge grille out of the context and say it looks bad but imo bmw designers did an amazing job putting everything together.

That concept worried me. Thankfully they came through and made something that finally looks badass. This blacked out one looks menacing.
I clicked the video expecting to disagree with everything you say and potentially puke at this thing but holy shit it looks incredible, the angles and theme are soo futuristic and menacing.
10/10 for this one, as much as I hate BMW these days.

Not a fan of the rear part, but the front and overall proportion of the XM looks surprisingly amazing!
Interesting that it has old school grab handles and not the newer BMW flush style
It's as if an architect designed a BMW, a very striking vehicle.

I'm really glad you view the XM like you do, (don't know if you saw my comment in the previous video of BMW X cars) but I do believe the brave will be rewarded in this case. As always, there will be a lot of fallout from 1st impressions, only to be quietly retracted a few months on.

Absolutely better than the concept. And i didnt even mind the concept but i love this. I agree with the screen - dash intergration. I didn't like it on the Mercs, neither do i in BMW. It could have been better intergrated into the dash
I love how people complain about screens aren't integrated into the dash, but never complains about screens just sitting on their desk exposed.
Compared to the concept I agree that they toned down the ugliness a little bit, but the proportions of the whole car are still terrible. The narrow glasshouse on the sides makes it look extremely “heavy”, any sort of sporty proportions that BMW suv typically have are gone. The front face is still kind of a mess , I still dislike the split headlights. Also considering how much the asking price is going to be, the interior is just combination of interior parts from many other BMWs as is not unique and premium enough for a “flagship” M model.
I am curious what the sales figures are going to be in the future for this model, if us who criticize it are just oblivious to current trends or if it will flop real hard.
You're probably right but I think BMW took Luxury & Futuristic approach on this, as much as it is an M car but when you look at the proportions think Rolls Royce Cullinan, maybe a fighter against the AMG-Maybach SUV by Mercedes.

Every cars had round headlights....times change, trends change. Some people move on, some don't. Which ride you want to stick to, past or future....its your own choice. You're not any more entitled than the other.
this is the best looking funky bmw’s lately. this is consistently outrageous design, the front,back,sides,lights, grill. wish had more bold wheels to match.
I love the concept of having an XM model. Truly the only exterior design elements I like are the rear windshield with double logos and the hi-tech front and rear lights. 🐈⬛
Genuinely one of the few occasions where the production model looks better than the concept! Still challenging to look at, but I'm sure the design will grow on me, a bit like Chris Bangles designs

To be fair, I'm loving this new Cyberpunk design aesthetic from BMW in their 7 series and XM lines. So far it's been pretty good design choices

It will have a hard time competing against similar prices suvs (170.000€)..
What competitors? Everything in this price range is traditional SUV or mall crawler. It has no cheaper lookalike as does cayenne and g-wagen
if they can iron out the ugly in next gens lineup, they actually have a clean futuristic design somewhere in this mess 👍
New BMW designs are "brutalist" in the same was several buildings from the 1960s are. I really think they are ugly.

Now this is awesome. It's one of the really rare moments where a production vehicle is much better looking than the concept.
It's almost like BMW gave a polished middle finger to their design department (the ones who did the XM Concept and the 2023 7 series), and hired a new set of designers.

BMW Exterior Designers really squandered this opportunity. Exterior looks like a bulky and bloated X7, cannot stand the rims. Should’ve looked more like the sleek X6M!

Love or hate some of their designs, BMW designers definitely have the most balls and freedom to go wild. None of their products look similar, some look amazing, some less so, but at least they are bold and controversial as hell, which I respect.

I don't know what I'm missing, but this looks terrible to me. The front looks so incoherent and I'm still not a fan of the stacked headlights. Nobody's managed to get that right yet, and certainly not BMW. It looks like two different cars clipping into each other. Also I don't like the badges on the rear windscreen. The only thing I like about it is the tail lights. There's a reason why it looks that much better in black. Still better than the iX, thankfully.
BMW are hopelessly lost, throwing 9 different design languages at the wall hoping one of them sticks.

Very controversial design but people will still buy it because of it. It has road presence; whether for the good or bad reasons, its up to you.
I don’t have a problem with this car, in fact I think it’s semi cool. BUT, the problem for most is the fact that this is the “M1 homage” after years of M heritage. Disgusting
BMW designers be like : Lets create a utter garbage concept so that people have that in mind and when its time for production we create slightly better. So obviously production model looks way better.
I love this car. BMW has been lost for the last few years but I think they'll find their way back and this might be a good start for them.
After seeing this language of design in the streets I understood it. It's architectural. It makes BMW really pop. It's awfully genius.
I still prefer the Hyundai way though. Same intension but beautiful lines.

Much better than the concept, I’m glad it looks different. Also it still might not be the prettiest, but it is very polarizing for sure, Audi and Mercedes definitely don’t have anything like this.
