I 100% agree with you guys on this. I was given the XM for a weekend test drive, and here are my thoughts: - BIG (it was very difficult driving this thing around town. It made my X5 felt small. The front hood is huge and imposing) - front end looks a lot better in person - Slow: I was disappointed in the most powerful bmw made. - Transmission was awful. Sport+ was slow. It was violent especially on downshifts. I left the car in comfort setting in the M1 setting. - extroverted: people were pointing at me and slowing down to look at it. I think they were making fun of my poor financial decision lol😂 - Interior is nice, the rear seats are very comfortable. My kids thought the roof liner lighting design is the best feature of the car. Somehow I feel bmw launched this to make people feel good about buying the X5M Comp 😂

You guys are the best. Love the honesty. The gluttonous public demands more and more-weight, cost, excess-and BMW is more than happy to provide it. Such a sad departure from their initial mission.
Their initial mission was to sell expensive cars to rich people. Then in the late 60s, to save their asses from bankruptcy, they revamped their lineup and marketed their cars as "driver's cars" to appeal to a new audience. They are simply going back to what they did in the 1920s.

The biggest issue I have with them is there is very little road feel in any of them. They used to be communicative. But now they feel numb. Combined that with the exterior styling as of late and it's a no go.
I don’t even think they can claim the driving machine angle anymore. Even the reviews are shying away from praising the driving experience which used to be the entire appeal to BMW vehicles. Talk about a fall from grace, I wonder where rock bottom is. 🤔
Whether or not they’re amazing driving machines or not, visually it’s almost to the point of intentionally ugly. Maybe the goal is so unattractive, only excess money could buy it
Man, I just loved this review. Wish more channels are as honest as these guys are. Also, the rear end of the car looks like the stuff that comes out of a rear end - hope BMW realises that
The only nod to the classic M1 is the twin logos on the back. Other than that, not sure how this can be called an M car. Thanks for a great, honest review!
Am I the only one left alive who sees a sport SUV and thinks “I don’t really care how quick it gets to 60 as long as it doesn’t feel underpowered and sluggish.” If you’re the kinda guy who sees a new Rolls Royce model and goes “damn I wonder how fast it gets to 60,” then the car was never for you, and it never will be for you. The same goes for this BMW, it’s a glorious gigantic luxury truck essentially. 4.1s is, uhhh… sufficient in my book. Now let’s look at the rest of it? You know… the main reason I’d buy one?
I agree with you and I personally think it looks great. I do agree with these guys as well though in that it’s too expensive when you consider you CAN get a faster and likely just a luxurious X5M or X6M for a lot less money.
I love that you guys speak your mind on how you really feel as opposed to other car reviewers that try to get on BMW’s good side. I know you are just as passionate about BMW as I and can agree they have clearly lost their way a long time ago. Sad what my favorite car brand has turned into.
4:57 Sounds like a fcuking 4-cylinder choked to death by, oh idk, 73 turbos?! A chainsaw makes music compared to this thing! I now feel stupid for complaining about And moreover, it's the wrong car to be called XM! BMW had recently made another car that's on their Middle East YT Channel, I'd say that's the right XM! It has SUV ground clearance, has actual off-road ability, climbs dunes like its running over ants, it's a fast af car (M) with actual SUV (X) ground clearance! Yeah, it might be weighing too much in typical modern BMW fashion, but it atleast looks more outrageous than ugly, if you ask me. I guess Thomas nailed that final nail in the head with Thor's hammer at the end, like he said, "Its an X over the M". And like Jason Cammisa recently said in his M1 video, "Today ///M makes Sport Packages for Front-Wheel-Drive 2-Series Grand Corollas!". I've really lost hope and all faith in M making an exciting car again, like the M1, the E30/E36/E46/E90-92/F80 M3s, E28/E34/E39 M5s. To me, personally, that era will never be back again. Even the 2-Series is now basically just a chunkier-looking barely less ugly M4, the 1-Series is a Front-Wheel-Drive Hatchback/SUV that doesn't cheat you into thinking that it's a Mini. So all their modern fun-to-drive cars are slowly dying, all the old nameplates have just become like, to quote Jason again, "Sparring with a 75 yr old former pro athlete. They've still got some of the moves, you can see glimmers of the grace and strength (and looks) they once possessed." Ultimate Driving Machine? maybe. Ultimate G-Force-Generating Machine? Definitely. Ultimate Fun-Driving-Experience Machine? No, just flat-out no. [Man, that's a rant, I feel much better now.]
This car coming out makes me want to invest in OLD BMW’s because I know THOSE are the BMW’s people will want. It’s incredible the terrible road BMW is going down.
This is why I love throttle house, other reviewers wouldn’t really call bmw out on this thing being all marketing no substance. Other RUclipsrs would be like “oh it’s kinda bad at driving but wow a cool roof ! Overall it’s a great buy”
I’ve seen one of these recently in black and gold and I must say it looks great, but knowing the numbers it could’ve been great. It was most likely a Vegas Golden Knights player too which fits the color combo perfectly.
Everyone has their own opinions. In my opinion, it’s the coolest LOOKING bmw SUV I’ve ever seen. I’ve never driven any of the SUV’s. But it looks amazing and like a dream car. So to each their own.
I think there's a category of people who just go up to bmw and say 'give me the most expensive and obscene you've got' and they are the people who are going to buy this, and it makes sense for bmw to build this kind of vehicle to profit off those people
Got to admit, this is a good point. It's hard to argue that BMW are business geniuses. I've been harsh to BMW because their recent styling would embarrass Stevie Wonder and a vehicle like this is just a really expensive way of tattooing a penis on your forehead, but I shouldn't criticise BMW at all - it's not their fault owners are idiots, BMW are selling what people want to buy. I'll continue to mock owners of this, since there are few things I hate that exist in cars which aren't present in the XM, but in the same way as Meghan Trainor is getting rich making garbage, so are BMW...don't hate the player, hate the game and all that. I feel like most of my comment could come across as sarcastic and/or ironic, but I'm genuinely being serious - you're right, I can only respect BMW for making money which is ultimately the whole point of their existence. Basically anyone who doesn't work in medicine, teaching or charity is pretty much doing what they do out of pure greed. BMW are making a lot of money, so well done them I guess! The owners are still morons though, I'm never letting one of these out, ever.

I 100% agree with you guys on this. I was given the XM for a weekend test drive, and here are my thoughts:
- BIG (it was very difficult driving this thing around town. It made my X5 felt small. The front hood is huge and imposing)
- front end looks a lot better in person
- Slow: I was disappointed in the most powerful bmw made.
- Transmission was awful. Sport+ was slow. It was violent especially on downshifts. I left the car in comfort setting in the M1 setting.
- extroverted: people were pointing at me and slowing down to look at it. I think they were making fun of my poor financial decision lol😂
- Interior is nice, the rear seats are very comfortable. My kids thought the roof liner lighting design is the best feature of the car.
Somehow I feel bmw launched this to make people feel good about buying the X5M Comp 😂
Honestly i think if i saw someone driving this in traffic i would just laugh my ass of knowing he/she spend a shitton of money on a 'car' that does nothing well and looks like a screeming turd on wheels.

I'm sure all modern BMWs are great driving machines but holy *shit* are they a challenge to look at.

Sounds like a fcuking 4-cylinder choked to death by, oh idk, 73 turbos?! A chainsaw makes music compared to this thing! I now feel stupid for complaining about
And moreover, it's the wrong car to be called XM!
They've still got some of the moves, you can see glimmers of the grace and strength (and looks) they once possessed."
Ultimate Driving Machine? maybe. Ultimate G-Force-Generating Machine? Definitely. Ultimate Fun-Driving-Experience Machine? No, just flat-out no.
[Man, that's a rant, I feel much better now.]
