  • Check out what I've learned after rewatching the videos of my first attempts at flying EDF jets.
    Watch what happens as I try to maiden my 3rd EDF so far, the FMS 64MM F-18 Hornet "Vugilantes" 😂. I have NOT successfully flown one as of yet.
    Check out the AMAZING VolantexRC 500mm P-51 Mustang here via my affiliate link www.kidstoylov... where I may earn a commission but it doesn't cost you anything extra.
    Check it out. Let me know what you think. Stay tuned for more.
    Stay well,

    I used gyros all the time , they work great , you just have to always check your correction movement’s, and always start on a low gain ..

      Do you think setting the gain to 16 was too much for a maiden?

      @@bigbristvon stabilizing mode angle adjustment.. I would put it to 20 .. that it is how much control throw it is going to give you , but it will still self level , if you have it to low in that mode , you will have a hard time turning the plane .. on the optimizing mode sensitivity I would put it at 8 .. like 25%…
      To test the stabilizing mode angle , put it on low 8 and then see how much throw it gives you , then put in on high -20 then see how much it gives you ..

    Def recommend a futura or viper over the 64mm f18. A 70mm freewing would also be a good option. I have this plane, but yours seems to have quality control issues!! Fms rarely mispells decals 😅 glad to see you not giving up though.

    Way to hang in there with the EDF. Maybe you should look at the FMS 64mm Futura. From what I've seen, it's a good beginner EDF. Best of luck, Now that I have subscribed I'll keep up.

    Increase the gains on the gyro so you can really see the movement of those surface controls, then reset it.

    • @bigbristv
      @bigbristv  2 месяца назад

      That's what's got me scared- you have to fly the plane a time or two to see where things need to be, and I never get that far 😂
      Thanks!

      @supreme9187 2 месяца назад +1

      @@bigbristv no I mean to see the elevator if it’s going in the right direction you can increase that gain sensitivity before flight to really see the direction of it. On my spectrum transmitter I have a dial that I can turn to 100% gain which makes the airleons, rudder, elevator super sensitive to any movement. Once that’s set when you want to fly it for the first time you should gradually increase your gains from zero all the way until you see oscillation that’s your threshold. Hope this helps my fronds that’s kinda my process that I’ve been doing.

    • @Twissted-RC
      @Twissted-RC 2 месяца назад +1

      @@bigbristv missed this comment. There’s a lot of planes with recommended cg that’s hard to get to or nearly impossible. Some just flat out say to add ballast weight to get to cg which is just lazy. If you can, look to cutting out weight before adding weight like excess wiring, moving battery and battery tray back , receiver back. Ovonics has some impressively low weight fpv batteries so look at that.

    Gyro's do NOT kill planes. Pilots do , whether it is pilot error OR not setting up the gyro correctly etc it is ultimately the "pilot" who kills the plane
