She was hilarious. Seriously the whole show was one of the best series I've ever watched, and I had a hard time picking any one favorite character. That's rare.
1. They’re called “lower thirds” 2. I’m partial to them renaming Joan’s show “You’re On With Ron” while she was passed out from her booze cruise and Ron took everyone’s calls
Joan is emotionally disturbed, self destructive, and has no moral or sound sense of judgement and tries to throw everyone around her into her tornado of chaos. I love her.
Joan, I want to apologise for not being able to accommodate some of your requests. For example, we couldn't get a bottle of Chateau Marmont, because it's a hotel in Los Angeles and not a wine.
I love all of her hair styles and the more drunk/hungover she is the crazier they are. She is one of my favorite non-primary characters in the show and in a show this good that’s really saying something.
I mean at this point it's probably only people like April here for the trainwreck who watches it. The others would watch Perd Hapley. So makes sense to keep it in. They know their audiences.
Aw man... HUGE respect to the actress who pulled off joan calamezzo this powerfully! What a star! She certainly knows how to fuckin ACT and she FLIES with it! Goddamnit what a monster, what a star....
Lots of interaction between this show and B99, beside Jake also Kevin appeared a lot as the lawyer representing dr. Sapperstine, Gina was in a brief scene, and in B99 Ron played Holt's ex bf the obgyn, and Jerry was the sceriff in Florida when Jake and Holt were in witness protection. Both shows are produced by Fremulon. Oh and of course Adrian Pimento was Dennis Feinstein.
One of the things I love is that the show always let Mo Collins improvise, and had the other actors play along. You can see the brilliant results of that when Joan resists putting the sticker on Leslie's book, and when she thinks April's name is "Glenn."
A friend and I saw Mo in some other show, and she said "Hey it's Joan Callamezzo". And I was like no that's Mo. I couldn't even say her last name due to the sudden shock I had finding out that Mo Collins played Joan Callamezzo, while also being an absolute fan of Parks and Rec and loving Mo's work on MADtv.
I truly wanna put Joan, Tynnyfer and Mona-Lisa together in the same room.

Let's speculate wildly!
It might be because she plays characters too well and can't desociate from the roles.
She was pretty well known in the '90s from Mad TV.
Mo Collins - exceptionally talented character actor. Been around for 30 years but probably a little less well known since MadTV went off the air.

If you're talking about MadTV, I agree completely! But yeah, Ron is my favourite too :)
I've been loving her since Mad TV. She does not have the recognition she deserves, extremely talented!
