- Deleted Scene from "One of Our Olives Is Missing" - Episode 67 of "Get Smart"
Original Air Date: November 4, 1967
Written, produced and directed by Jess Oppenheimer.
On the first take, strictly as a joke on the producer-director (Jess Oppenheimer, who had also written the episode), Don Adams repeatedly substituted the name "Oppenheimer" in place of the name that was written in the script. But much to Don's surprise, that was the only take they did! This scene was included in the original broadcast, but later cut (for length) from some syndicated versions of this episode.

I saw the Don Adams tv making of get smart .... he had a deal with the tv execs to determine his pay for the show. He could be paid a set rate per year or he could take a % of the profits. He chose the %-age and made a TON! So Cool!
The first TV performer to do that was in 1955 when Audrey Meadows, playing Jackie Gleasons wife. She eventually made a lot more money than Jackie Gleason received.
I find that hard to believe.

He went on to admit as a gambler, its the best gamble he ever did. Well-worth a watch .
This is two scenes, not one. They are from 'One of our Olives is Missing'. They were not deleted when syndicated in Australia, and both are present on the HBO box set.

it was always an act. the show is about them being watched at all times. get it? it works many ways. the interactions with KAOS are all intertwined like spy vs spy if you pay attention. the reason he acts dumb is to manipulate KAOS when he is on a mission. im telling you the entire show is really like that, its deep. and also the tv audience is watching so there are some complex jokes as well.
This scene wasn't deleted in the original broadcast. It may have been deleted in some syndication broadcasts.

In 67 they were just a Corvette and a Mustang...

Why was it deleted
to cut the episode down to syndication length, which is shorter than network broadcast length to make room for the additional commercials allowed on syndicated broadcasts.

really? look what happened when she married max. the show died. she should live on in the perpetuity of the sexual tension that made the show so great.

@F_Tim1961 the entire show was built on her interaction with max. The back and forth her unrequited love until they were trapped in that sky box and max had to propose with the microphone collar as a ring cause he promised he would if there was a way out and 99 figured one out.
