Siegfried heavy episodes are the best ones amongst the always hilarious episodes. Even today I think it was the most brilliant and hilarious comedy show ever made.
I love the scene where Max meets Siegfreid in a park pushing an ice cream cart. Max says “hay great cover” and Siegfried replies “no that’s my real job, KAOS doesn’t pay so well”.
@@orlock20 yeah I remember that Max was objecting to KAOS’s better conditions. But Get Smart had inconsistincies between episodes, for example the Chief’s office had a window and Max could call out to the president. In another episode, his office was several stories underground. I dimly recall it could be raised and lowered, not to be confused when the Chief’s office was in the elevator after KAOS got Congress to cut CONTROL funding.
Actually Daryl, he said that he was fired from Kaos because he was responsible for destroying their headquarters, and that is how he makes his living now... Now let's have a raspberry ripple for our love of intelligent comedy
More than forty years after the first time I've watched Get Smart for the first time, and it still makes me laugh ! Cast, writers, directors, producers and crew, every single part of a precision comedic machine, one of the best ever !
Absolutely classic. Bernie Kopell was SO funny as Siegfried. On one of the commentaries to one of the episode, Bernie compared Get Smart reunions with the Love Boat reunions, (Bernie played the doctor on the Love Boat). At the Love Boat reunions, everyone was polite, but at the Get Smart reunions, everyone was passionate about the show.
When I saw the title, I thought it was the episode where Control & Kaos were kidnapping each other's agents, and we see Siegfried & Max at opposite ends of a long table. Siegfried: You know why we've called this meeting, Schmart. Max: Yes, we've run out of agents.
Up there with the Honeymooners and Seinfeld as TVs great and clever comedies. Even though it was so much of it's time. With the height of the cold war. And the huge popularity of the Sean Connery James Bond films in the 60s. Great writing, casting, and cinematography. And the phenomenal comedic timing of Adams.
@@dorinrikiThose reboots and to a lesser extent the movie just didn't fly! I originally wanted them to be successful but they stunk! I think he was picked for the part of Siegfried because of his uncanny resemblance to Crown Prince Wilhelm, son of the last Kaiser, Wilhelm II. The Crown Prince was caricatured and mocked in many newspaper and magazine cartoons during World War I, so his look came to be seen as a typical Prussian bad guy.
Has anyone forgotten Mr. Kopell's work, on another short lived spy show, "Lance Link : Secret Chimp"?? Baron von Butcher (voiced by Bernie Kopell) - Modeled on Kopell's character of "Siegfried" in the television show Get Smart! Kopell is believed to have approached his voicings of the Baron as if Siegfried were the head of KAOS.
It was revealed several times. In the "Dr. T" episode, twice in the "Get Smart, Again" movie (co-written by Leonard Stern, who created Siegfried), and on the GS official trading cards. In "Spy, Spy Birdie," his code name was revealed to be Ludwig.
I accidentally did it again! I unsubscribed from Purple Oranges Amaysim, instead of just ignoring their email! Can someone tell Disney and James Murdoch that it was "automated" or something?! Maybe?!
Or maybe someone else is managing the account?! It was another number 8 marked email! "I hope this is not goodbye" - it's goodbye James.... :unsubscribe: But I shouldn't have responded at alll
They pretty much wiped out every Labor Politician in the country by using this Strategy.... Which means they will all be replaced by Far Right Neo Nazi Liberals when it all crashes to the ground, Right?!
CONTROL were the Democrats. in what episode, Max tells a blond woman about an organization that is bent on taking over the world (KAOS). She asks, "You mean the Republicans?". The creators of this TV series were all liberals. Sorry about that, chief!
They certainly hit gold casting him as Siegfried, he made so many episodes work.
He even saved lame ones like "Snoopy Smart and the Red Baron". 👍
Truly!
Maybe so. But Mel Brooks gained at the Stasi's expense.
@@dorinriki Or Ice Station Siegfried!! Even Don Adams barely appeared in it!!
The most hilarious villain on 60's TV outside of Batman, Siegfried from Get Smart. 😎

I love the scene where Max meets Siegfreid in a park pushing an ice cream cart. Max says “hay great cover” and Siegfried replies “no that’s my real job, KAOS doesn’t pay so well”.
But in the union episode, it seems to pay better than Control.

Everything about the show was brilliant. From the writing, to casting, to directing. A perfect storm of tv comedy.
A favourite. Bernie Kopell is a brilliant actor and comedian
Siegfried was hilarious.
Talk about killing a role. My goodness Bernie. Thanks.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Wasn't also on Mary Taylor Moore as a newsrooms Manager or something.
@@lamonthamilton667 Good catch. According to IMDB, he was on an episode called Ted Baxter's Famous Broadcasters' School.
But Love Boat was in 1978 and Get Smart in 1968. How is it?

One of the greatest shows and characters ever.
"At Kaos we don't shush".
Genius! Still funny after many years.

My favorite eeeveel character of all time.
Probably America's third favorite enemy character behind Sgt. Shultz and Colonel Klink. Major Hochstetter has to rank high as well.
@@jerrscott6373 Siegfried was far more evil than any of those characters, LOL.
That had him looked older for his age back then. He is still alive today.
He was in his mid 30s
@@TCM215 Did a great guest spot on Silicon Valley, I was stunned but so happy to see him still working.
I met Bernie and many cast and crew members back in 2003. Bernie was a nice guy but Leonard Stern was my favorite❤
This performance is every bit as good as anything Peter Sellers did. and I mean that Bernie!
when it comes to spy villain parodies, Bernie Kopell's Siegfried is right up there with Dr. Evil.
This is Kaos... we don't reminisce here!
So you're one of the few people who saw the 1995 reboot of this series!

Lol.. there were so many great characters on Get Smart.
You were so hilarious looks like a fun way to make a living. Cheers buddy
Man, I sure miss being a kid... sigh...
Looks like a typical board room meeting at MicroSoft.
They should have done a spin off show ... he was so hilarious.

You can make an argument that Get Smart is the funniest television show in tv history.
Yep...tied with Married With Children.
I won't make that argument. It is the funniest tv show in history.
When I watch Get Smart.... Always longing for Seigrfried to be on the show xx
His best role ever
My favorite actor :) 😎
I never saw this episode but I K N E W "2:06" was coming!. The other shope HAD to drop!! LOLOL
Bernie was GOLD for the show!
SISSIES!!! GREAT STUFF
Bernie Kopell must have slept like a baby during these episodes...he got all his frustrations out during the day.
You want to know how the USA has declined, just look at this show & compare its quality with shows today. That is all you need to know.
When I see any articles on WW2 and see mention of the Siegfried Line, I can’t help seeing Bernie Koppel.
I wonder how many times they had to shoot that and how often the extras broke up.
1 and 0
@@TS-qq7vr Not so. A clip from this scene was in a Get Smart blooper reel that can be found here on RUclips.
The real heroes in this scene are the four guys sitting at the table, completely still and not ROTFL!
Schmmartt ! Now I see where Lilly Von Schtupp got her accent from
A Blazing Saddles fan.
Germany?
ONLY Mel Brooks can make you love your enemy.
Woody Allen and Buck Henry contributed as much as Mel Brooks if not more.
He now runs the European Commission.
Rumor has it Siegfried's secret cover was as a Doctor on a luxury ocean liner. Just saying . . . .
Other way around, KAOS went bankrupt and he had to find another job.
I guess the annual Kaos bingo party and barbecue was canceled.
Along with a second order of KAOS baseball caps. Sometime team pride will get you killed.
Kaos rules the world!🤔😞😏😃
They're welcome to it. 🌎
I don't know how the other actors in this scene kept themselves from cracking up 😂 Siegfried was the funniest KAOS villian!
He is the best agent ever!
Sigfried is the BOSS of KAOS.
God that is genius.

Always great, hilarious in an episode of F-Troop
0:36 it literally sounds like sigfried was forcing that out like he was lying.
Brilliant acting
We don't do that in Kaos.
Heads will roll....whoops that's Hogan's Heroes
Siegfried. Is my favourite character.
😂
Well presented agents neatly dressed with tidy haircuts.....Those were the days...
Sigfried is my favorite Kaos agent und meanie. Where's Starker?
Not easy being in charge in KAOS, poor man, badly surrounded.
How did Sigfreid ever pass the background check to work on the Love Boat
Such a Mel Brooks gag 😂
Perfect foil for Maxwell Smart
alright 99 let's go watch Tennessee Tuxedo cartoons.
O DEAR that did it : the annual Bingo & Barbecue party cancel !
I thought they didnt bingo in KAOS. Sad he lost such *good* friends😥
I guess the cruise ship company running the love boat either care about their doctors past careers or just didn't vet properly.
LOL!
Ve have Vays of making you Vell.....
Mel Brooks what a hero, writes Nazis better than anyone ever #SpringtimeForHitler
Mel Brooks didn't write these episodes, and he didn't even invent the character of Siegfried. 🙂
It belongs over here. Splash
I was wondering who else was waiting for Bernie to put his left hand in the pitcher
dam bingo party canceled,he means buisness.lol.
which ep was Siegfried's first name revealed as Conrad?

Why do Germans always seem to make the best bad guys. Siegfried always nailed it.
Sissy joke. Lol, thats verboten to say in 2023, even by Kaos!
He would have been a good colonel klink.

Kind of odd that they made the head of KAOS German instead of Russian. I guess a German accent is funnier!
