- I test out the automatic card shuffler with magic the gathering cards.
I test sleeved cards un-sleeved cards double sleeved cards and single sleeved cards.( Brands used in testing - KMC Hype mat, KMC perfect fits, Dragon shield matte, and dragon shield original)
1. KMC hyper mat double sleeved with KMC perfect fit = it fits the machine but some caught on the machine not always perfect shuffles but will shuffle half of a 60 card deck at a time with no problem maby a few slip ups. The full 60 card deck might be to heavy for the machine or maby I put them in a bit crooked so they got caught on the machine but in all it kind of works with these cards not perfect but not to bad.
2. Dragon shield matte / Dragon shield regular = would not fit in to the automatic card shuffler they were to tall
3. KMC perfect fits single sleeved = worked fine in the machine with really no slip ups
4. non-sleeved or un-sleeved cards = worked fine in the machine but might damage the bottoms of the cards from the card shuffling gears over time its pretty aggressive I think lol.
In all I really wouldn't use this machine to shuffle you expensive cards it could damage them by some malfunction it gets spinning very fast its more of a gimmick device but I had fun testing it

Considering the amounts of cheating that happens on Protours and other big events, if WOTC managed to fetch a Card Shuffler designed for double/triple sleeving, provided the shuffling machine and enforced its use, then cheating would become way harder to be achieved. We just need the correct machine for the task
I just dont get why in finals they do not have an official shuffler guy.

Or you can just force everyone to shuffle 7-10 times using either the Riffle or Mash techniques.
I have a custom built shuffler than can take tripple sleeved cards it wasn't cheap but there is a reason any cash event they either ask to borrow or I have to go to the event and use the machine for the finals you will never see someone cheap at that point .
I wonder why your land deck isn't winning? I think you might need more non-basic lands.

To be fair , this particular machine is cheap and nasty, but you could definitely imagine one that was a little bigger and more robust(and quieter!) being a good addition to competitive magic, would stop a lot of cheating and disputes.

I actually applaud you for doing this, I don't know anyone who would be willing to subject their deck to this kind of treatment. Thumbs up for taking one for the team in the name of science :)

WotC should develop a thing like this to prevent cheating.
Seven times both decks no cutting required.
IMO, they need a card shuffler with variable speed control, different methods of loading, better hopper shape to better accommodate Magic cards - sleeved, double sleeved, THEN it could work.
People see this and say "No, no, never a good idea," but miss that with some modifications, a version of a card shuffler that works on Magic cards without utterly destroying them/risking that would just take some engineering.
If you’re here in 2023: We have this exact shuffler, and modified it by cutting off the front barriers with a Dremel to accommodate sleeved cards. Do about half your deck at a time for Commander and it works better if you trigger the pedal in small bursts. This not only enables them to go through smoothly, but you can also correct jams long before they damage anything. I have noticed no damage thus far.

BananaIs NotCool I’m a month late. But usually decks are 40 cards. It is legally 40-60 but even a few card above 40 hurts your consistency. A few decks can run effectively, but there are only a few.

Thank you very much for the demonstration for this Shuffler. I play a TCG different from MtG, but I also suck at shuffling. This had one of the more stylish designs with it's red square top, but I had no idea how loud and cheap this actually is. You saved me $20 from Amazon.
If I ever win the lottery I'm gonna play legacy unsleeved with one of these things.

For the experiment you should have had half your cards in one colour of sleeve and half in a different colour so we could see visually the dispersion pattern between the two halves of the deck.

Hi! Which sleeves do you recommend, then? I think I understood KMC, but I'm not sure. I suffered a stroke and now I can't shuffle by myself. I bought this thing but with ultra-pro sleeves the height of the sleeve is enough to not to work. The friction of the card shuffler with both bottom and top of the card (sleeve) avoids the shuffle.

When I started to play Magic in 1994, you would see these devices from time to time. Sleeves weren't so good then so this was a good way to shuffle and not damage the cards.

I got one of these at target awhile back. Used it to randomize commons, uncommons and bulk rares. Shuffled them all up then basically did some repack drafts with cards none of us either cared to have damaged or cards that just weren't of value in general.
Really like having that camera up on everything.

I was always thinking about this so I'll watch and see if you mess your cards up.
I use a card shuffler for some decks like from the Game Night boxes. These decks are only ever used for introducing new players to the game so I kind of expect the cards to get damaged, and I can't sleeve those decks because then they don't fit in the box. If I'm trying to shuffle cards I care about, they'll be in sleeves anyway and I can mash shuffle them.
What sleeves work with the card shuffler? I only have dragon sheild sleeves so I'm a little pissed off

Dragon shields are known to have slight differences in the height coming from the factory; that's why some fit and some don't. The sizing of their sleeves is inconsistent, if only by a small amount.
Would this work with Marvel Legendary cards? This would make assembling the villain and hero decks ALOT easier.

I already bought the same exact one and found out it doesn't work with most sleeves and not tall enough for each half of the deck. Modeling a new custom housing to print for the guts

Well it was worth a try. I would imagine if someone designed a high quality shuffler with MTG in mind it could be done quite well.

i tested one of these on some spare cards unsleeved, none of my sleeved would fit at all, the cards where marked with scratches all over the edges, with some even getting cut or torn after just a few passes

Quiet Nerd the card shuffler seems to work alright, granted it sounds like a blender trying to blend something it shouldn't, but it doesn't seem to damage the cards at all, at least from what I see in the video, the only gripes I have with it is the fact that it doesn't work with certain card sleeves, the noise it makes XD, and the fact that the top cards always stay on the top, but other then that I didn't see any thing that would harm the cards in anyways and it seems to shuffle them o k just very very noisily and of course the whole top cards always being on top

I bought one and used it on my Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, they got sorta damaged but i soon realized that i had bought a used shuffler so i went and got a new one and the cards came out just fine.
I had one of those, the reason it was jamming mostly it's because you're exceeding the maximum height and also the sleeves have a slight curve more so towards the pointed Edge. as the cards we're falling into place to be shuffled in the overstacked top was getting more crooked to go in a crooked manner. Overall card shuffler will work with single sleeve decks in KMC and Ultra Pro. the real problems you did not experience and I will describe them to you in my next post so everyone knows before they think about buying one.

Honestly. This looks like a very good choice for casual kitchen table magic. To shuffle your unsleeved cheap decks. Decks that the sleeves would probably worth more than the actual cards. And everyone knows how hard it is to shuffle unsleeved cards. This might actually be a pretty damn good option.
Predicting sleeves are toast. AAAHHH, the HORROR!! Gotta wonder why people don't sleeve regular playing cards though.

Not that i particularly play in comp but whats the point of double / triple sleeving?
When you have some pretty expensive cards you want that protection. Also old foil cards curl really bad and triple sleeving helps.

Yeah, I've always wondered this as well. It looks like that's a very low-end poorly made shuffler though, a better shuffler might actually work. If there is one that did work with Sleeved magic cards, I still don't think it would be allowed in MTG competitve tournaments. I really think WotC needs to design their own automatic shuffler and have them at tournaments. It would prevent cheating and it would randomize better.

About your land deck, I belive that the problem is the white border land... You have to few. You should only use 4th edition white border land. It's an absolute bomb
