- We continue our Advent Reflections examining the Blessed Virgin Mary's life and her example of humility.
From in Conversation with God, Fr Fernandez writes:
"The virtue of humility, so evident in Our Lady’s life, is truth, the true recognition of what we are and are worth in the eyes of God and of our fellow men. It is also an emptying of ourselves to allow God to work in us with his grace"
"It is not opposed to our awareness of the talents we have received, nor to the full use of them, with rectitude of intentions, for for humility does not diminish, but broadens one’s outlook. Humility recognizes that all the good in us, whether in the order of nature or in that of grace belongs to God along; for of his fulness we have all received. God is all that is great in us; of ourselves we are defective and weak. We come before God as debtors who do not know how to discharge our debts, and for this reason we go to Mary as the Mediatrix of all graces."

I would like to express how blessed, and grateful I am to be able to finally catch up on your videos, and I have been watching them daily this Advent. I have been following you guys for a year or so but have never gotten the chance to watch it often.
Watching you share the word of God, I can relate to some of the topics you shared. The last two videos you did together, were honestly enlightening. You are an inspiration to married couples in faith out there, and even to a single person such as myself. Thank you. A job well done.
And because of your sharing, I have purchased In Conversation With God books via Amazon for my reflection.
I will keep you in my prayer, and please do keep mine in yours (I am a Muslim convert to Catholicism since 2013, and I am still struggling to get my Muslim mom to accept my faith).
Anyways, as a gesture of thanksgiving, I will be contributing to your ministry for 20 CAD a month. I truly hope it will help your ministry even though it is a small amount.
For now, have a blessed Christmas, Ken and Janelle, and to your lovely children as well. You guys are truly a gift from God.

Hi! you won't believe it but I keep listening to the Advent Retreat over and over again. I love it so much and I am learning a lot. I never thought though that doing house chores is also an act of humility. Thank you Janelle for that. May God continue blessing your family

I found and followed your Lenten meditations this past year. I ordered Fernandez book and by mistake ordered the Advent volume. He is an extremely gifted author and truly fleshes out the richness of all our Spiritual writers/giants including Biblical quotations. You and your wife's extrapolation of his writing and combining it with you dual vocation as husband and wife, make this meditation extra rich indeed. You are the icing on the cake.

Beautiful reflections on the humility of Mary. Honestly, I'm mostly humbled at the many blessings I have, undeserving. As you touched on, Everything we have is gift. Our very breathes each moment that keeps us alive would not be possible if not for God willing it.
There is a person who comments on here regularly lately who claims they have no blessings from God. That's hard for me to understand. 🤔 They obviously are breathing, have technology, are not starving, and have shelter since they are capable of commenting.
I'm in lots of prayer for a young mother with 4 chidren who has been fighting brain cancer 5 years. It's reached a point where she's on hospice, yet she continues to find blessings in her life.
My 41 yr old cousins son has been given maybe a year to life. He has a wife and 2 teens, plus rest of family knowing this most likely will be their last Christmas together. Yet they smile.
I could go on, but I'm sure all of us could share similar stories. I'm not downplaying that there's real suffering we've all experienced it. As a Catholic we should know that any and all, big or small suffering can be used for the greater honor and glory of God.

Thank you so much, this reminder of yours is so wonderful. I can relate with my own experienced and situations from the past. Yes, it is the pride that we forgotten to be humble. I never realize too, that Our Lady is the best example of humility. She deserves every grace but she preferred to stay silence and do what was God's will....all because of love ❤️
I had to pause a # of times,little ones had needs. Ty for this lesson and wisom,wisdom, will come back later when time permits and watch again.😇
May our Mother help us grow in trust and faith in God so that we can be happy with His will, even when we do not understand it. 🙏🏼

So often I HV expected good things thinking I HV ben faithful.

I have just watched this video for the first time. It adds to my admiration of the most Blessed Ever-Virgin Mother Mary's humility that she maintained during the Announciation: she was hailed as Queen by St. Gabriel the Archangel, told that she was chosen by GOD to be the Mother of the Son of GOD, her humble obedient asking how this shall happen, for she knows not man - and her being told how GOD will do this upon and in her: " Behold the handmaid of the Lord. Be it done unto me according to thy word!"
