Guarding your heart is SO important, but so is guarding your MIND. Satan works through the mind, trying to introduce bad thoughts about our loved ones so as to poison relationships. It's where all the conflict comes from, but we don't have to take it! We CAN and MUST REFUSE those thoughts that get us to think uncharitable thoughts about our family members and everyone we come in contact with. I just say a simple statement, "I reject these thoughts with all my heart. In the Name of Jesus, thoughts be gone!!" It is effective. Then I just turn my thoughts to God and how wonderful he is and thank Him for the family member I was tempted to think badly about, then say a prayer for them. So guard your mind so that those thoughts aren't accepted so that evil doesn't go down to the heart
Ken, your struggle with going to bed earlier is something I also struggle with. (A natural night owl I have always been) Something I constantly bring to mind to help discipline me in this area is a quote from Fr. Bob Bedard, founder of the Companions of the Cross. It goes like this: “A decision to stay up late is a decision to not pray in the morning”! A very wise priest!
Staying up late looking at RUclips is one of my worst habits. I love "the more you look at something, the more you want it" - that's why we need to keep the lives of the Saints in front of our kids all the time.

You two❣️❣️ The chuckling over our all too typical struggles had me chuckling with you. On a serious note. Yes, guarding our hearts is a must if we are to stay focused on our journeys back to God. It's easy, if we aren't on guard, to become dissatisfied, envious, unhappy, and off track. I was just listening to a Christian radio program this morning. They recommended a break from any news from any source, and technology. I think they were right when saying that us humans were not made to be constantly bombarded by all the tragedies, earthquakes, crimes, politicsl upheaval, etc, going in worldwide. You 2 are so transparent, and it makes what you share with us, very real, and the instruction so applicable to our own lives. I'm busy getting ready for Christmas the next 2 weekend with family. I needed to hear this! THANK YOU. I am so dishearten because the devil has sent many people to destroy me on this app simply for asking for prayers. It’s so discouraging. Please pray for me and my children. Prayers are all we need. But No matter what, I face I will continue to trust in Jesus even as I struggle to support myself and my two boys. I will never lose hope. As a single mother things are hard on me. My husband passed years ago I’m alone. I’m overwhelmed at times because both of my children are autistic. I lost my job as a social worker at Forsyth hospital because I declined the vaccine. I declined because of my pre existing health condition lupus and heart disease. I was denied my medical/religious exemption. I wish I could go back to the hospital but the mandate is still in place for all workers in hospitals that participate in Medicare and Medicaid must be vaccinated against covid 19. I’m waitressing and I’m so thankful to be working again, but I’m not making nearly enough to make ends meet. But God has protected me and my children. That’s why I refuse to give up on my faith. I know God will provide. HE HAS so FAR. God is real and WITH HIM ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! Thank you Jesus.

Friend, you have a huge suffering in your life. I'm going to be praying for you, your sons, your job & for friends & family to come to your aid. Oh dear woman of great faith. God loves you. It matters not what people on this channel say to you. You only have to be right in the eyes of God. You don't need to explain why you didn't get the shot. There are PLENTY of reasons to avoid it. No explanation required. It's your choice. I was reading Luke this morning and the thing that really stuck out to me was that those with no problems or hardships are actually less better off than those who struggle with something. Because people who struggle realize their need for salvation. May God bless you, keep you, and protect you. May his light shine upon you and be gracious unto you always. In the next world there will be no such problems and no hardships. We just have to stick it out and make the best of what God gives us in this world. You've got this!😊
Great ThTs here. Those attachments can become so hidden. I must pray to keep open to the conviction of The Holy Spirit. Today's reflection was exactly what I needed to calm down my heart and mind. Turn to the Lord and say THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE BLESSED MY FAMILY WITH! Thieves broke into our house at 3am today and because we are away, the pics my friend sent me is heartbreaking. I thought hard if I was right focusing on the items we lost especially the childrens' sacramentals which I never gave them to wear for fear of losing them and now they are gone to the thieves. Thank you Ken & Janelle I am slowly feeling better and learning not to cling too much to earthly things but trust in the Lord! God bless you thank you again.
My husband and I listened to your video together...he was wearing a dark gray sweatshirt. After Janelle's statement about wearing pink for the 3rd candle, he turned to me then declared, "and I'm wearing the burned wick!" ... Maybe 'ya' had to be there, but it did give me joy! My struggles too!!!! ....feeling bad due to too much cookie dough 😩... been there, done that soooo many times.....just confessed it again 2 days ago! .... I stay up too late, too...and pretty much do everything you discussed.. .have you guys been following me and taking notes?!! It's lovely that you tell publicly what you struggle with. I think it helps us to notice some of our struggles and also, I feel like if I tell my struggles out loud, it could make me more aware and accountable to change things. Thinking about how our daily lives and the little things that go on for years, can really bring us down throughout our life, is helpful to realize how much we must stop these seemingly small habits in order to become the saints that we are meant to be. Thank you Ken and Janelle for sharing so authentically, I feel you hit the nail on the head! We all have different things and weaknesses that distract us from God. It is very difficult to look at them and seek to change them. I struggle with many, "suits." Envy, people pleasing, ego, fornication, etc. With continued prayer, reconciliation, faith and discipline I know that God will give me strength to change.
What stood out to me in my mind is something I've heard before and it stuck. It says "don't compare your inside to someone else's outside." In other words, what appears to you as a perfect marriage, family, life, home, etc is what you see on the outside. But you cannot compare what you know to be true about your life and what the world may not see, to what you see on the outside of someone's life. Hope that makes sense! Oh, and I watched this while preparing Christmas cookies to freeze and I may or may not have been "taste-testing" cookie dough. I'll plead the fifth! 🤪🤣🤫
Yup, contradictions are hard to break. Got to walk the talk. Mine is candy crush. My kids are out of the house, so my time belongs to me (and my husband). Started out as fun but now I can’t put it down once I open my iPad. I will have to pray about it.
But you can start. My husband is anti-Catholic. So that's my vocation. I fail daily, but kindness & sacrifice go a long way. What goes around, comes around. God IS wonderful! He is Our Daddy. Continue to pray for for daily bread and He WILL take care of you like the widow in the Bible with Elijah. I am praying for you and don’t be discouraged by people who attack you for your faith. They are sad but you are blessed! Focus on Jesus instead. He too was persecuted. Matthew 5:10-12 “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.” And God bless you for not taking the shot. I Am against it because of my faith. God will help and reward you for your hard work in taking care of your family. He protects his widows. Pray to St Joseph and ask him to be at the head of your family along with Mom, Our Blessed Mother. And you will be at peace? Ask Mom each day for the Graces you need for that day and tell Jesus in all that you do that you do it for Him & with Him. You will receive many Graces for that as well. May the God who loves the widow & the poor open heaven & pour out His mercy & grace in just the right amount for your salvation , for all of us on our journey there!
Oh dear woman of great faith. God loves you. It matters not what people on this channel say to you. You only have to be right in the eyes of God. You don't need to explain why you didn't get the shot. There are PLENTY of reasons to avoid it. No explanation required. It's your choice. I was reading Luke this morning and the thing that really stuck out to me was that those with no problems or hardships are actually less better off than those who struggle with something. Because people who struggle realize their need for salvation. May God bless you, keep you, and protect you. May his light shine upon you and be gracious unto you always. In the next world there will be no such problems and no hardships. We just have to stick it out and make the best of what God gives us in this world. You've got this!😊

Today's reflection was exactly what I needed to calm down my heart and mind. Turn to the Lord and say THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE BLESSED MY FAMILY WITH! Thieves broke into our house at 3am today and because we are away, the pics my friend sent me is heartbreaking. I thought hard if I was right focusing on the items we lost especially the childrens' sacramentals which I never gave them to wear for fear of losing them and now they are gone to the thieves. Thank you Ken & Janelle I am slowly feeling better and learning not to cling too much to earthly things but trust in the Lord! God bless you thank you again.

It's lovely that you tell publicly what you struggle with. I think it helps us to notice some of our struggles and also, I feel like if I tell my struggles out loud, it could make me more aware and accountable to change things. Thinking about how our daily lives and the little things that go on for years, can really bring us down throughout our life, is helpful to realize how much we must stop these seemingly small habits in order to become the saints that we are meant to be. Thank you Ken and Janelle for sharing so authentically, I feel you hit the nail on the head! We all have different things and weaknesses that distract us from God. It is very difficult to look at them and seek to change them. I struggle with many, "suits." Envy, people pleasing, ego, fornication, etc. With continued prayer, reconciliation, faith and discipline I know that God will give me strength to change.
What stood out to me in my mind is something I've heard before and it stuck. It says "don't compare your inside to someone else's outside." In other words, what appears to you as a perfect marriage, family, life, home, etc is what you see on the outside. But you cannot compare what you know to be true about your life and what the world may not see, to what you see on the outside of someone's life. Hope that makes sense!
Oh, and I watched this while preparing Christmas cookies to freeze and I may or may not have been "taste-testing" cookie dough. I'll plead the fifth! 🤪🤣🤫

I am praying for you and don’t be discouraged by people who attack you for your faith. They are sad but you are blessed! Focus on Jesus instead. He too was persecuted.
