I HAD A 56 CHEVY DRAG CAR , 468 BIG BLOCK CHEVY , 175 HP SHOT OF NITROUS, FULL MANUAL TURBO 350 TRANS, 2600 STALL TORQUE CONVERTER, 513 GEARS INBAN OLDSMOBILE REAREND. AWESOME CAR
Wait till that demon comes next to ya …….. And just as shown …. To many gears and shift points Th400 passing gear .. And demons start screaming like puppies falling behind.
what a shame Warren Oats aka: Srgt. Hulka in Stripes, he was awesome in that movie, died at the young age of 53 from a heart-attack then his ashes were sprinkled at his ranch in Montana in 1982 Denis WIlson drowned in 1983 and Lauri Bird committed suicide in Art Garfunkles's apt in NYC in 1979 at 25, heroine overdose, same age as her mother who also killed herself sheesh, grim stuff James Taylor is the only one of the cast still around
I remember racing on the streets Friday night back in the day what good days work on the car all week and hit the road Friday night and the drag strip Saturday and Sunday
@@maplebear6527Probably in real life yes but in this movie the Chevy 55 is about 7 mph quicker than the 1970 GTO in top speed but remember it's a movie
Great road film nihilism early 70s.

Poor Laure Bird.... nice to see her smile.
I wish Art Garfunkel would tell what he said to her....

Wow, didn't know that. How tragic.
Go watch another Warren Oates movie: "Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia"
Valium overdose it was 💔
Carly Simmon should be riding with Sweet Baby James

James Taylor.
And Dennis Wilson.
I'm guessing Warren Oates car top speed is about 135 mph to 140 & James Tayors is car is 145 mph to 150 mph
No. The GTO would of had more top end. Gearing. 55 is set up for quarter mile. GTO had highway gears. The 55 is quicker in the 1/4 mile.
Stock GTO couldn’t hit those speeds downhill
Randy Lear is right. The 55 eats it in a quarter mile. Half mile the GTO should cruise by.
