Pappy's Performance

This channel started as a father and son project. Lately I have realized that I'm getting near retirement. I have 47 years of experience in the automotive industry. I consider rebuilding an old muscle car a pleasure to work on. I would like to pass on what I've learned to the next generation before its lost forever...
How to make a gasket
Have you ever gotten the wrong gasket and the parts house is now closed, and you have to get your car back on the road to go to work in the morning? I got you covered.

But stop going on about it. It what broke us up as friends.
Great build. Easy to follow. Issue is using the bike is impractical. Solar with a larger battery capacity is easier to achive with less knowledge than building a bike.
I feel there should be multiple ways to generate power. If there is a EMP or Carrington Event electronics are useless. The inverters I use will be smoked as well. I keep a spare in a faraday cage. But solar is a great option as well.
@@Raging64 Yeah an EMP would he unfortunate. At that point it would be the classic candle light and wood stove heating. Unless you need electricity to stay alive, no power is not a death sentence.
It’s going to work!!! I believe in you man!!! 👍🏻
Thank you!!!
Cool!
The jack works for breaking the bead, but for getting the tire off the rim, put it back on the car. Holds that rim steady and gives you something to pull against.
Good job!! These 2nd gens r older than me. I own a couple of them and love working on them!!! Just followed you keep up the good work brother!
Thanks for the subscription, I returned the favor, and I'll check out your channel.
I'll have to check that out
I'm in a Georgia climate and the 3M rubberized worked great on the 79 Camaro
I hear a good coat of Fluid Film does a better job than undercoat
🤣🤣those days we were all told about except they forgot to mention they were like bananas 🍌 and come in bunches 😎
lol….too funny Tim 😂
OH MAN your faster than you used to be !!!! Lookin good !!
Thank You.
flush cut pliers. Before I even see the video ... flush cut pliers.
I can't remember the last time I had the cleecos out.
My older brother introduced me to them in the 80's
Do a video on the power probes
I'll consider it and I do have one, and they assist you to diagnose electrical problems quickly. but they are expensive, and most folks would rather invest that money into their car. A regular test light will do just about anything the power probe does, just takes a little longer. At work, I have to work on police and fire vehicles with all the aftermarket equipment, and that is when I use the power probe.
Lol
You need some Rusty's medicated bumper ointment
Thanks Cale
definetly not my granpappy 😀
Good to see ya Tim
Love it. Thanks for the Information
Any time!
Ive done this way too many times but i never knew it was designed for that. I use my farm jack nowadays as its hard to find an old bumper jack. For tires that will see the road I am blessed to have a tire shop not too far from my house that isn't too expensive. I won't do a mag wheel by hand especially if its in good shape.
Thanks for the like
@@Raging64 lol. You're welcome. I actually made up two trailer tires like that today 👌
😊
I have done this tire removal when I was living in poverty & needed to change to a tire that held air. Never do this with a mag wheel. But of course I think I am as old as this young man. I used my work bench so I would not have my car fall on me.
Thanks for the like
A spray bottle with soapy water and spray the bead and it would have come off a lot easier
Your absolutely right. especially on a 20 plus year old tire.
I HAD A 56 CHEVY DRAG CAR , 468 BIG BLOCK CHEVY , 175 HP SHOT OF NITROUS, FULL MANUAL TURBO 350 TRANS, 2600 STALL TORQUE CONVERTER, 513 GEARS INBAN OLDSMOBILE REAREND. AWESOME CAR
Great road film nihilism early 70s.
I remember racing on the streets Friday night back in the day what good days work on the car all week and hit the road Friday night and the drag strip Saturday and Sunday
Despite being a rival, Warren ends up sticking up for them in that redneck restaurant.
Despite being rivals, they fix Warren's car.
"DENNIS KNOWS"❣️
Poor Laure Bird.... nice to see her smile. I wish Art Garfunkel would tell what he said to her....
Awesome!
what a shame Warren Oats aka: Srgt. Hulka in Stripes, he was awesome in that movie, died at the young age of 53 from a heart-attack then his ashes were sprinkled at his ranch in Montana in 1982 Denis WIlson drowned in 1983 and Lauri Bird committed suicide in Art Garfunkles's apt in NYC in 1979 at 25, heroine overdose, same age as her mother who also killed herself sheesh, grim stuff James Taylor is the only one of the cast still around
Wow, didn't know that. How tragic.
Go watch another Warren Oates movie: "Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia"
Valium overdose it was 💔
Carly Simmon should be riding with Sweet Baby James
I'm guessing Warren Oates car top speed is about 135 mph to 140 & James Tayors is car is 145 mph to 150 mph
No. The GTO would of had more top end. Gearing. 55 is set up for quarter mile. GTO had highway gears. The 55 is quicker in the 1/4 mile.
Stock GTO couldn’t hit those speeds downhill
Randy Lear is right. The 55 eats it in a quarter mile. Half mile the GTO should cruise by.
@@maplebear6527Probably in real life yes but in this movie the Chevy 55 is about 7 mph quicker than the 1970 GTO in top speed but remember it's a movie
James Taylor.
And Dennis Wilson.
Holy $hit!.... What are you trying to do? Blow my mind?......... How i remember those days... Pure unadulterated TORQUE..😎
Wait till that demon comes next to ya …….. And just as shown …. To many gears and shift points Th400 passing gear .. And demons start screaming like puppies falling behind.
the united states of Warren Oates
OK but I had to turn the volume off. The music is so off!

good work
by the way to anyone doing this swap, B and A get mixed up in the slideshow. in 1 slide he says that A is where the clutch linkage goes, and B is where the mounting bolt goes, but then in the next slide hes cutting the hole for the linkage in B. if you cut the large hole in A your linkage wont line up right
Do you think it would be easier to swap a manual to an automatic?
Trey
Can't wake up wake me inside can't get up and call my name and yo ass and put this trans in
