I have a 1999 740i Sport. I bought it almost 2 years ago and I'm so glad I did. It's a higher mileage car (around 178k miles) but was very well maintained it's entire life and is in great shape. I love driving it. My dad owned a 1997 740i and that was one of the cars I learned to drive on. I think people love these cars because as new cars get increasingly complex with electronics and crazier styling, the E38 is refreshlingly old school. Yet, it's modern enough that you can use it as a daily driver. The styling is wonderfully simplistic yet it looks so good. The proportions just work all around. I personally prefer the short wheel base cars as the long wheel base looks kind of weird with the longer rear doors. Most importantly, these cars drive so great, particularly the sport models. I highly recommend looking at rhe service history of any car you're considering buying but especially these. If the regular maintenance intervals were followed and it looks like a well cared for car, thats what you want. I strongly advise against buying a beater that's been trashed as a project car because the repairs will likely be more of a headache than they're worth given the value of these right now.
E38 my absolute dream car , I owned one for a few months. It was in very bad condition, everything was broken but maybe one day I’ll get one in better condition 🫠
Honestly I love the E38 but if you love driving then I would have to recommend the E39 just a bit more.. the E38 will forever be the queen of all highways but the E39 just handles better, its got full aluminium suspension and subframes and its equally comfortable and it has the same vibe in general.
Best car of it's era
Wet dream for every 35 year old with a broken life is the most hilarious and accurate way to describe this car. Genius 😂

thank you for such great comment
Has to be among the top 10 BMWs of all time. Especially the 2001 740i. Shorty Sporty.
agree with you sir
I own and daily drive two 2001s - a 740i Sport and a 740IL. My wife and I own 5 BMWs (and a Mustang).
Are we crazy? 🤔
top5 IMO

No, these are just great cars.
我是亞洲台灣的E38 728車主.擁有6年還會繼續持有目前288800Km..就像影片所說讓人熱血沸騰的車子....
You have lifted my soul. Amazing video!
thank you sir ) i am very happy
I consider Lexus LS400 and the E38 equally beautiful in terms of exterior design.
What a machine. Put it this way, drive it down the autobahn and even the locals give you space 🤣
Nice presentation man👌I agree with everything you said,. For me E38 is the best, best looking car.
sad that they are dying day by day
This car is pretty damn cool. Reminds me of an athlete who's tall, skinny and can haul some ass on the track.
