It’s a treat to hear Heifetz’ sound “out in the hall” since most of his studio recordings were done with the microphone quite close to the violin. This recording appears to give us the kind of sound a concert attendee might have heard and demonstrates how well Heifetz could project above the orchestra.

The only other recording of his like that that ive found is the final recital one so this is nice to hear

It's wonderful that the right tempo (in my opinion) has finally been chosen here. It's incomprehensible that the concerto is otherwise played much too slowly and is therefore distorted.
