Well, the last movement is rather too fast for my taste. Some orchestral detail is lost also. A fine performance overall, but not the very best I've heard.
I first was confused about "Bach-Vivaldi" in the title, but after I did some research I found out this is Vivaldi's concerto for 4 violins arranged by Bach for 4 Harpsichords. Nice! Great work! :D
It's a costly concert to present and to a limited audience. I liken this to chamber music, and don't care for a great deal of it. Thanks to RUclips, we get a chance to see wonderful talent such as displayed here.
Bach was well aware of fellow baroque composers/compositional styles--and was quite familiar with the Italian style and incorporated parts of it into some of his music while staying true to himself. He obviously like and admired Vivaldi. Beautiful homage.
Everything OK , except here and MANY other Concerts , Bach SIMPLY transcribed them for Organ or different Instruments ; of course his Genius is undeniable .
What a brilliant idea to perform this on modern pianos!-yet in a period style, with the appropriate energy and drama! Gorgeous! The pianos are so wonderfully expressive! Both Bach and Vivaldi would have loved this.
as always, Bach is relentless. He is not giving in. He is going, like he has a deadline. But oh, how ever so wonderful. Not only to play his music, but also to sing it. It is an never-ending process. Playing Bach is like going up a hill. But once one has reached the top, the view is heaven.....

@@rosesacks7430 You can tune pianos to different pitches and each piano reacts different to climate changes in the room so one grand could rise about 1 Hz while another one rises 2 Hz in a concert. And the second difficulty is tunig them above each other, because there is an effect called "inharmonicity". They are about the same length, but from different companies and the strings get calculated differently at each company, because they want to achieve a different kind of sound

I live in Hawaii and a group out here performed this with four harpsichords. Tuning was kind of a circus act.
Bach adored Vivaldi, he was his favorite composer, along with Corelli, this work arranged when he was 16 or 17 years old. He must have been amazed by the beauty of Vivaldi's concerto and made a brilliant adaptation.
I am literally on the edge of my seat! This is as exciting for me as anything on this planet! Who doesn't love excellence? And these folks are excellent. I'm a pianist, but it's not just the pianists who garner my focused attention. It's also the excellent strings and conductor. I have several versions of this at home, owing to the fact that I'm a Bach lover! But the excellent musicianship, plus the also excellent videography makes this a stunning pleasure. I have watched it several times and will watch it again and again, taking it all in and observing all the wonderful little details of each musician's performance.

Divin ! Magnifique ! D'une beauté à pleurer. On peut se souvenir qu'en 1950 Jean-Pierre Melville et Jean Cocteau ont utilisé cette pièce musicale pour le film "Les enfants terribles" qui lui donne une dimension extraordinaire. Inoubliable, à jamais.

Je ne me lasserai jamais de cette interprétation du concerto de Bach pour 4 claviers.... devenu "concerto pour 4 pianos", instruments qui n'existaient pas du temps de Bach. Mais joué comme ça, le résultat est plausible, et surtout magnifique.
Wow....simply...Wow.. They are perfect attuned to each other. The coordination of this Quartett is realy fascinating. All four has an individual variety but in sync.
I played one of the violin parts at Eastern Music Festival. The piece is so pretty and so much fun to play. I like this arrangement for piani very much , never heard it before. Looks like the pianists are enjoying it too!
I never did mention I played this thing when I was 11 years old - not on the piano. I had three friends my own age who were pretty good fiddle players so we just did it.
Truly a great piece and well-performed. On the other hand, I was amused by the exuberant emotiveness of the pianists. I guess you don't notice it much with just one pianist. They're like four little divas. Great musicians with comical élan.
Got my first recording of this piece around 1965 on Nonesuch LPs (remember those?) - It was in a set of all the Bach harpsichord concertos. Seven for one keyboard, three for two, two for three, and this one for four, plus the triple concerto for flute, v., and hpsi - my personal fave. This performance, which is excellent, is so much clearer and revealing as to be almost another work altogether! Much, much pleasure.
I agree! You can hear each of the four with much more clarity when played on pianos! It's much more selective that way IMO. Of course, it's a completely diffetent colour of a sound, but the piano rendition is very much worth it! Are they playing in b minor, like Vivaldi's version though?

Весной 2013 года MultiPiano был представлен на фестивале белиментальной музыки Felicja в Тель-Авиве и фестивале Israel в Иерусалиме, включая сольные выступления с Израильским камерным оркестром (концерт Баха-Вивальди для 4 фортепиано) и прямые трансляции для израильского радио (IBA). Солисты Тель-Авива, Хайфская симфония и оркестры кибуца Нетания в Израиле организовали MultiPiano для концертов Баха, Моцарта, Пуленка и Леванона для 2, 3 и 4 фортепиано. Кроме того, ансамбль совершил свой третий тур на Дальний Восток (концертный зал Пекина, Большой театр Тяньцзиня, концертный зал Чэнду).
Осенью 2013 года MultiPiano был представлен в двух турах по Северной Америке, включая выступления в Merkin Hall в Нью-Йорке, а также в Монреале, Оттаве и Чикаго. «Нью-Йорк Таймс» описала их выступление как «празднование нескольких рук и нескольких клавиатур».
Весной 2014 года ансамбль во второй раз гастролировал по Южной Америке в качестве солистов камерного оркестра кибуца Израиль Нетания с концертами в Буэнос-Айресе, Монтевидео, Лиме и Боготе.
Осенью 2014 года MultiPiano сотрудничал с Английским камерным оркестром в записи концертов Моцарта для двух и трех фортепиано, а также в записи мировой премьеры Моцарта «Ларгетто и Аллегро» - фрагмент 1781 года, оставшийся незаконченным и завершенным и организованным Томером Львом для двух фортепиано с оркестром.

Divin ! Magnifique ! D'une beauté à pleurer. On peut se souvenir qu'en 1950 Jean-Pierre Melville et Jean Cocteau ont utilisé cette pièce musicale pour le film "Les enfants terribles" qui lui donne une dimension extraordinaire. Inoubliable, à jamais.

I love Vivaldi's trills. In this work, the trills are special, they are divinely combined with the staccato.

Je ne me lasserai jamais de cette interprétation du concerto de Bach pour 4 claviers.... devenu "concerto pour 4 pianos", instruments qui n'existaient pas du temps de Bach. Mais joué comme ça, le résultat est plausible, et surtout magnifique.

I played one of the violin parts at Eastern Music Festival. The piece is so pretty and so much fun to play. I like this arrangement for piani very much , never heard it before. Looks like the pianists are enjoying it too!
Bach did a nice job of transcribing this. He changed a few notes here and there, added a few notes too, and changed the key to a minor. Cool dude.

I never did mention I played this thing when I was 11 years old - not on the piano. I had three friends my own age who were pretty good fiddle players so we just did it.

On the other hand, I was amused by the exuberant emotiveness of the pianists. I guess you don't notice it much with just one pianist. They're like four little divas. Great musicians with comical élan.
This performance gets better every time I listen to it! Fantastic arrangement played with so much enthusiasm and precision it's wonderful!

Lestro Armonico arrangement on a piano. Wow. Stunning beauty.
Got my first recording of this piece around 1965 on Nonesuch LPs (remember those?) - It was in a set of all the Bach harpsichord concertos. Seven for one keyboard, three for two, two for three, and this one for four, plus the triple concerto for flute, v., and hpsi - my personal fave. This performance, which is excellent, is so much clearer and revealing as to be almost another work altogether! Much, much pleasure.
I agree! You can hear each of the four with much more clarity when played on pianos! It's much more selective that way IMO. Of course, it's a completely diffetent colour of a sound, but the piano rendition is very much worth it! Are they playing in b minor, like Vivaldi's version though?
