"You see the way he went through that door?"
Its his lost bro
Beat me to it
totally radical how... how he went through that door. unreal.
I still am amazed this is a line they actually wrote and made him say
As silly as it is, this was the first time many gamers saw a video game character realistically open a door. I mean these guys were excited about controller rumble for goodness sakes
It's hilarious how hard it is to tell what's the insane editing on the video and what's moose's classic strange editing, lol
I feel that a lot with Brutalmoose. X3
I love those please-tell-me-that-was-in-the-original cringe edits
all of it
The 90s were weird. Everything had to be XTREME!!!
"How does it feel to be the prototype" sounds like an insult an android would toss at a real human.
this is going to be stolen and used in a movie, you're right.
It's actually pretty cool in that context.
My brother and I had that last one. The "crush me big monkey" line was trapped somewhere in my psyche that was better left repressed, but we were so excited for jet force Gemini. We played it so much!
Yes! Jet Force Gemini was such a criminally underrated game with an even more underrated musical score.
@@ggmidori2152 I actually only just completed it last year but I used to rent it all the time. Underrated indeed and one of the best third person shooters on the N64 and it is playable on the Rare Replay which is what I completed it on. I also thought the soundtrack was awesome as well as the spin on the weapons like the Tri-Rockets and the Plasma Shotgun. The Grenades were an awesome weapon with a cool shockwave effect. The only thing I really hated were the Floyd missions.
myst9900 dude, I feel you! I’ve been itching to play it again on my N64; I may just pull it out of the garage one of these days.
@@ggmidori2152 Nice also did you know Rare also promoted this game in Banjo-Tooie. In Bottle's house in both of his kid's rooms there are posters of Juno and Vela respectively. My favorite level in JFG has to be the Ichor Military Base and it also has my favorite music track. I just loved all of the hidden levels and even looked forward to backtracking to them. I plan to play through it again someday but for now am proud that I completed one of the best games from my childhood. :)
Hey all, I'm sorry for the little break in videos! Life got a little busy.
I hope you enjoy this look at some Nintendo VHS tapes. I'll be back next time with some brutalfoods!
Cool
brutalmoose can I send you things that I think you’ll like
Also something you might be interested in, there is a Carmen San Diego show
Edit:this is the most likes I ever got lol
No need to be sorry! Just keep it up! :D
Nice! Ily my king
I think the hand spinning the globe was a parody on news shows that open with a spinning graphic of a globe. It was like it was low budget. Kind of a funny joke actually. Like it was trying to be what you were making fun of it for being.
Yeah, all it's missing is some guy awkwardly singing the background music instead of having it be a midi track! Isn't dated cringe comedy fun?
Thats one of the annoying things with people critiquing random content. He really has no good context and starts nitpicking shit way too hard. Its pretty fucking obvious it was meant to be a parody.
Yeah. I thought it was a funny parody. Too bad he missed that.
The Onion was/is my favorite news source. It's less bleak than the "real" thing.
@Plastic Icon I have to look into that book. It sounds like a great read. And The Onion was the best news source back in my day. How amazing that you're from the area that birthed that magic.
the “extreme canadian accent” GOT me omg
I find it amusing how Sony is some evil thug according to Nintendo, even though Nintendo themselves gave them a reason to be in the industry in the first place. The 90's were tough, man.
Especially given the anti-competitive and anti-consumer way Nintendo attempted to bully publishers and stores during the '80s and early '90s.
Silanda Even if they did some power abuse back then, it's undeniable that it was a necessary evil.
Nintendo didn't want to be another Atari. Especially back when people were very hesitant on video game consoles being more than just a dead fad.
@@SakuraAvalon ^^^ This.
The gaming industry had just gone through a pretty bad crash. Nintendo revived it and wanted to make sure something like that wouldn't happen again, so a little control on Nintendo's part was good, whether you like it or not.
If you read into some of Sony's business practices both back then and now you will see how right the tape was in a weird way.
I loved the 90's. The only war the US was involved in was desert storm. It only lasted 43 days. The only issue with 1 president (Clinton) was that he got sucked off by an intern. And the other issue is some people thought Jynco Jean's were cool. Those were the only issues. Look at us now...I'd totally take a time portal and go back to the 90's if I had a chance. I'd rather go back to the time when everyone was doing the mocarana, compared to now when the only dance move is twerking lmao. The 90's were dope. It wasn't a perfect time, but it was dope.
Coming back after such a long break? I've not seen such bravery.
UM IT DIDN'T SEEM LIKE YOU REWOUND THOSE TAPES
BE KIND. PLEASE REWIND
Ah, that's hot
WE DON'T NEED MORE REWIND! DIDN'T YOU SEE 2018'S!?
Funny movie
Yo, I also didn't subscribe to Nintendo Power (my parents thought magazines were a scam) and I remember getting a videotape talking about Majora's Mask a few months before its release. I know that because I cut a deal with my mom that if I got high grades she'd buy it for me, and I cried for like a week straight because I got two B's instead of all A's, and she bought it for me anyway because we never said I had to get straight A's. But I watched that thing like a thousand times, so I know I had it in my house.
You really know how to get me to watch an adspot. Most other channels it's the same copy being read over and over and I just skip them, but I sit through yours for the amazing edits.
just want to say that Google's speech-to-text algorithm refuses to transcribe "crush me, big monkey". like, he played that clip at least 5 times and the autocaptions didn't catch it _once._
Even Google has standards.
I guess it doesn't expect anyone to ever say that.
Who uses auto generated subtitles is the real question
@@stenchemitter2407
Whitey does...
...erm, YT.
But the auto-captions will put swears where they don't exist and the algorithm might possibly demonetize a video because of it.
“Donkey Kong Country Exposed is a promotional tape that exposed Donkey Kong to countless children across America.”
Sounds like a weird Porn Tape of DK exposing his Expanded Dong to kids that got passed around everywhere.
Yeah, that was the joke.
Did you ever heard of King Dong ?
that was the joke
Hello there Expand Dong, where has the time gone?
Konkey Dong Exposed
The host for the first video 'Donkey Kong Exposed' is Josh Wolf. He's a pretty funny comedian. Check out his YT channel.
"David Quick Finger" oh my...
I’ve not seen such bravery.
*"Where's my bananas?!?!"*
it’s uhhh, in the Prototype
Waaahhh! I've gotta banana for yah!
*seductive Waluigi wink*
Ask the The Amazing Atheist he has all the bananas.
@@Thrakus But no brains.
I think thats a curious george reference.
"you see the way he opens that door?"
"nO KIDDIN'!"
"No, Kitten, I did not..."
"Jet Force Gemini, which I've never played" STRIKE ONE!
"Donkey Kong 64, which I'm not a fan of" STRIKE TWO!
You're on thin ice, moose.
I got the “Hot Newz” tape while at a retro video game store in Texas for free. I asked the guy how much the tape was, and he said that I could just take it
I think you paid to much for it.
I mean, it's bound to be someone's fetish...
@@lildufflebag Chrush meh big munkey crush meh
I had the same thing happen to me but with the pokemon game boy guides they just said to me if you want them take them and if i remember they where about 100 zolty worth (polish curency ) so i did take all of them XD i did give some to my friends :)
god how I hate that "let's slightly shake the camera around and add a color filter and then add random fade to white transition" effect that was so cool in the 90s
I'll take it.
And the Dutch angles.
FHSBDI? So your videos do exist in the same reality! Ianiverse is a thing now. Gerbert bless.
"Crush me big monkey crush me!" Will haunt me for the rest of my life. Thanks a lot...
As soon as I opened RUclips it glitched and automatically opened this video. Looks like it knew what I’m coming for
Mimik_M3 exact same thing just happened to me!! I’m on my ten at work so I would’ve really waited till I got home
GalleryOFSuicide okay two things, one, why were you using firefox lmao and two this was a first for me and happened on mobile. YT needs to get its life together
Oh lord, these things.
I had the Banjo-Kazooie promo tape back in the day and watched it over and over again like that shit was Empire Strikes Back...now I can’t even get through it without cringing out of existence. It’s funny how easily kids get attached to goofy stuff like this.
Yo, the DKC promo vid had some smooth ass music going on at 5:39, I want that track.
I read that as Banjo-Kazooie porno tape. Lol
I had the Diddy Kong Racing promo. It was great but didn't age well.
Dude you just took me on the most nostalgic trip of my life lol I remember getting all the VHS tapes in the mail and getting super excited seeing them just delivered to my front porch after getting home from school.
I think I have a couple left in my attic, the starfox and diddy Kong racing vhs tape.
That extreme Canadian accent bit destroyed me 😂😂😂 I'm crying bro 😂😂😂
So, Ian...
*How’s it feel to be the prototype?*
The host of the Donkey Kong tape is essentially a lower rent Pauly Shore
at least pauly shore had some semblance of comedic timing, this dude just sounds like a desperate cringelord
That was literally the first thought in my mind... Discount Pauly Shore. :D
If Dan Cortese and Pauly Shore had a kid it would be him
Wait.. it is possible to go DOWN from Pauly Shore?
Critical Nobody I was wondering of whom he reminded me!
So close to 500k! You got this Ian! Thanks for all you do, man!
I miss these! Loved them so much growing up, I even still have this special padded DK 64 controller cover I got with one of these tapes in the mail. Makes your controller look like 3 bananas!
1:50 There was also a "Nintendo Club" (or Club Nintendo?), which was separate from Nintendo Power. I think I got a sign-up post card from a Wal-mart display as a kid. They would send goodies about once per quarter. Specific things I remember getting are:
- a T-shirt (long since lost/ruined, I've forgotten what it was for)
- a Donkey Kong 64 banana N64 controller cover
- a Pokemon preview VHS tape
Twelve-year-old me absolutely ate up the Pokemon previous VHS. It talked about Red/Blue, the TCG, and the anime with about a 9 minute run-time. I was instantly sold on all three and watched it over and over the day I got it, and would re-watch it every few days until I finally got my hand on the game (along with a Cherry-red Gameboy Pocket)
ruclips.net/video/OvdvgZ3CpWA/видео.html
I was never subscribed to Nintendo Power but definitely got the Pokemon Preview, Star Fox VHS , and Diddy Kong Racing VHS in the mail and I don't remember signing up for anything.
Nice!
That one guy in the first video seems like the kind of guy WWE would have used in the mid-to-late 90s to interview the wrestlers like Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels.
the extreme canadian accent killed me lmao thx from canada
When Brutal Moose is too young to remember the spinning world before news broadcasts...
Why does this moose have to be so brutal? ;_;
N64 killed his parents.
Hey man, you're seriously one of my favorite creators. Your vids are always worth the wait imo. Thx for all you do
I had the DK one! Loved Nintendo Power back in the day.
This is somehow the most 90s thing to ever 90s in the 90s
Nintendo should remake some of these and put those skits in the direct, kidnap Reggie and Bill with Sony and Microsoft. It'd be great!
You can’t kidnap Reggie. He’s too powerful.
@@RaccoonRevolution fuck you're right
I mean they have good terms with Microsoft but Sony could still work.
Does VHS work on blu-Ray?
yeah, last i checked
Only on Tuesdays.
@@ronaldmcdonald2344 this is satoru Israel himself so you can trust him
You need a rumble pak, but yeah.
Mankey Fruit yes but you need to sacrifice one first born everyone
Another great video! I had no idea those tapes existed. They feel so 90s that they are burning my eyes and healing my soul, all at the same time. I love your content!
Totally takes me back. I graduated high school in the mid 90’s so this is perfect. The website screenshots at the beginning made me laugh. Long live the 90’s
This is just so Classic. Thank you, Ian. This is really nostalgic
In the early 90's, EVERY VHS promo was required by law to look like a Marky Mark music video. It's true. The 90's were just like that.
The only one I had was the Change the System. I watched it so many times. Thanks for the memories Ian!
I'm honestly surprised at the fact that you still have less than 1M subs.
This guy deserves more.
Four years later and.... still not 1M subs. But getting there at 922k.
One of the best channels on RUclips. Never stop making content, Ian
I actually had the DK and N64 ones, and watched them over and over. They definitely did not age well....
just subscribed to your channel today after seeing the Mystery tape video, loved it and this one love to see more with old school 90s stuff
That sponsor ad is actually pure genius. The way the serendipitous intro to floating head Ian segways into the body wah joke is masterclass. Also the bowling joke gave me a chuckle.
I just found your channel today, dude you're hilarious!
Donkey Kong Country’s story is right up there with Chrono Cross and the Resident Evil games.
Man, Ian I missed your videos! Glad to have you back in 2019.
I love your videos man. Relaxing and just entertaining. You seem like a dude to go out on a pubcrawl and having an awesome time.
I believe i remember watching the DK country tape as a kid, and i was hoping to see it again someday.
Now i'm really glad i found this video.
ah man i have that last tape, somewhere in a box. wow thats awesome. Jet Force Gemini was a great game.
I'm just so happy when you upload! Don't keep worrying about whether your video is better than the last one you did, your audience loves seeing you enjoy yourself. That's all you have to do!
Well worth the wait. Love the vid and the change of pace.
I was just checking last night because I wondered if I missed the newest vid, good to see you back dude
brutalmoose is legit the only channel i drop everything i'm doing whenever they upload because i know the vid will be solid. keep up the good work :)
Your ad reads are the only ones I actually enjoy watching
I remember the Donkey kong tape showing up at my grandma's house in a box of bootleg vhs tapes. I had no clue where it came from or why it even existed. Thanks Brutalmoose.
Back in the 90's i had a german tape that advertised the N64 and the most common games.
It featured two military guys (in voice only), talking about all the advanced features of the console. watch?v=ycP-q4OIFko
I remember watching it over and over again because it showed how you can get on the roof of peach's castle.
That kurama figurine, NICE! FHSBDI better be a reacurring character XD
I'm so happy you made a video on these I loved the live stream of you watching all of them
I love how your channels constantly doing different and unique reviews all the time
Is it just me or does the main host character of the donkey Kong country vhs feel like a 90s Jake Paul?
I think it might be Josh wolf, the comedian.
Yes
plot twist: It's Dad Paul
It is I just checked the IMDB! I thought the same thing!
BRRRRROOOOOOOOOO
the shaky camera work really sells it
This is a fun, well done, numbah one video. Good shit ma dude. It really brings me back to some good times.
amazing vid! i just watched the stream of these a few days ago and the video was even funnier! great work as always
I remember these tapes like it was yesterday, I thought they were the coolest when I was a kid 🤣😂😂
We actually used Amazon in 1994. My mother felt the company was potentially going to hit it big. She read a ton and felt that if they started selling things other than books and delivering them to your door, that it'd be the future. However, not once did she ever consider buying stocks when it went public and got big.
You think she'd have learned after missing out on the Poseidon Mining Bubble despite being given insider info to buy it when it was still under a dollar, and it jumped to 386 dollars a share in 1969-1970. Get a stock broker mom... XD
Sounds like bullshit but okay.
Shit man
No offense
@@YahyaFalcon She worked as a secretary for the marketing firm for Poseidon Mining in late 69. But then again, really doesn't matter if internet shadows believe me or not. >__>
We signed up for Netscape Navigator on day one! And she did fall for the Noni Juice ponzi scheme. Those weren't so hot... Yeah, forget buying Amazon stocks... buy more Noni juice. XD
@@RichterPhallos It was different back then, wasn't as easy 'jumping on the ball' as it is today. These days you just need an ameritrade account.
Investing was something she just never even considered until it was wayyy too late. I'd call it fiscally oblivious. Though she did regret the Poseidon bubble so much that she ended up falling for a few Ponzi schemes, not wanting to miss another one, namely Omega...
okay... maybe a bit retarded. I still love her though. XD Everything happens for a reason I suppose. Her failures with stocks made me a lot more savvy.
there is nothing quite like the rush i get when you upload a new video and i know im going to get the blessed opportunity to travel through time with you in your time travel car like in an 80s movie for weenies
What a nice video! It really cheered me up. thanks Moose!
My eyes lit up when i saw you uploaded!
Bless you man. I've been talking about these for years and no one believed me
That Donkey Kong tape is still in my box of tapes, with that fetching box. I got it at a Nintendo event in a Walmart parking lot as a kid along with a copy of Virtual Bart cause the organizer took pity on me. It got me so hype for DK that it was the first game I ever pre-ordered in a store and played the hell out of. Good youthful memories, thanks Brutal.
Ian that jumper is adorable it looks like you got it for Christmas and it's your new favourite and I'm here for it
I have to say that right now choppy footage makes me pretty anxious, like my computer is dying; so it does generate a certain type of tension in the viewer.
Also, of course Kurama is your favorite yuyu hakusho.
isnt he everyones?
"I can do a lot of stuff with Mario."
Wink wink wink wink wink wink wink
he'll fall for your stunninhg beauty
3:51 While interviewing someone, it's considered good form to point the mike towards them when they're talking.
I had all of these videos growing up. They might be ridiculous, but the nostalgia is real. I love it.
Reminds me of TV programme “Dendy - the new reality” that was sponsored by Russian console manufacturer whiich we had back in the 90ties.
always a good day when brutalmoose uploads
honestly I was having A very Terrible day, but seeing a BrutalMoose Video is a special thing to see in my suggested box is always a welcome thing, one of the only shows on youtube that I watch that actually feels like the comedy is not super forced, or changing who you are to be funny, Honestly along with a friend that streams on Ian is my favorite RUclipsr/Streamer here a real down to earth guy and totally unique to his craft, thanks Ian if you read this know you are doing great and know that you are making at least one Kid happy as hell from your Videos
I had all those VHS tapes plus the ones from Capcom. You may have gotten one. You could also sign up for a fanclub/newsletter type deal at kiosks that had nintendo demos to play. Filled out a form and put it in a box by the system and you started getting the VHS when they came out every so often. It was like a nintendo direct for the 1990s.
“Did you see the way he went through that door?” 😂😂
Mechanically, Jetforce Gemini was superior to Golden Eye and was easily my favorite game for the system.
Where's the remaster?
🥺🥺🥺
You're literally the only person who's ads for products that I watch completely and enjoy.
I love this.
Great work as usual Moose.
90s nostalgia is very effective.
I wasn’t even alive until after 2000, but I grew up with a lot of stuff from the 90s.
We had a fricking VCR in 2010, that’s how dated the technology in my house was when I was a kid.
Cool. Want a medal? 🏅
Ha. Very funny. Do you want an award for that amazing joke?
Seriously dude that phrase is so overused.
Same lol
Same stuff with elementary, sharks and minnows under a tent, rolling boards, crt tv's
As a Canadian I can confirm XD especially cause I had a Sega growing up XD
its been a long time since ive been updated on any new brutalmoose videos. this look sure is a departure from the previous clean cut look
I loved this! Good to see you back! DSC needs to hire you to do all their advertising lol -- the longer stream of watching these promo tapes is also really funny (check out his other channel)
*Makes fun of extreme canadian accents*
Hey, Brutalmoose, I'm not your buddy, guy.
Yeah, maybe the cool kids in the 90s subscribed to Nintendo Power and got these tapes, but did your dads smoke so much you got tapes promoting Marlboro swag? Didn't think so.
I had the DKC tape as a kid and I legitimately probably haven't seen it in close to 23 years, and this just brought it all flooding back.
Man nothing gets me excited like 90s tech and combining VHS with the Nintendo consoles makes me estatic! 😊
