I was curious if the music was authentic. Some of it seems kind of authentic. I watched a Minnesota public television documentary called AfricaTrek and it featured what sounded like the making of one of the songs.

It’s crazy to me to think you can be insecure about these videos. I think they’re fantastic and you’re hilarious. I just don’t see how they could be any better. They’re already so well done.
This video was ok, i think there's nothing he could've done to make it better, the game is just bland.
In the way that Tatstopvideos can make the shittiest crappypasta creepy, Brutalmoose can make anything funny.
Ian is insecure about everything. It makes me so sad, cause he's fantastic and lovely.

I am kinda mixed if i am being honest, i love your older videos style and structure, but your newer videos feel warm? Like your visiting an old friend who wants to show you something wierd and in the fringe. Both styles are equally valid in their own right but i would love to see a healthy mix of your new videos and your game reviews if it were possible

Neutral Milk I always loved his old videos, they never seemed cynical to me, just fairly critical of old games. I love his new style too, though! Brutalmoose is always good.
The other people in this thread seem to share my opinion. We're fans, and in no danger of leaving. A world that contains Brutalfoods is a better world than one that doesn't.
Still, yeah, maybe just 2 or 3 vids a year in the old style; I like new Ian quite a bit, but I miss old Ian nonetheless.
@@userfriendly2737 Their all good. Its just a clear evolution of ian as a person (for good or bad; hopefully). I'm glad he was honest about his fears of releasing it. Its a natural emotion.

I'm glad to see a game review from you again though. Even if it is a "lost episode". I love your cooking stuff and the VHS reviews, but it doesn't mean I don't miss these. These are great too.

2:20 - See, this is the real BrutalMoose arc. Modern Ian would've just let that "and..." hang for the entire rest of the shot and then cut to the next scene/topic without ever resolving it.

So, it's pretty weird seeing the channel the way I loved it in the beginning, yet I find myself blown away by the hard turn you took to create a seemingly new channel that despite being more family-friendly I have consistently enjoyed so much more (I even watch brutal foods with my family). I will continue to support your quality channel and I wish you the best. Congratulations Ian
Shawn Gonzalez I can't say I prefer the new direction, but I can say with certainty that I would watch this guy break down and reassemble a carburetor, as long as he narrated and edited it.
Here's to the next 500k, and whatever unexpected direction Ian takes us next.
Wish I felt the same man, really miss his old videos. The food stuff is kinda boring imo. His VHS reviews and Twitch streams are still really good.
I can't say I ever took much note of the new content being strictly "family friendly." At the same time, I do find the new content way funnier somehow, older videos (especially the WAY older) videos, Ian always kind of came off as uninterested and a jerk. Now it's paired up with wacky editing and what-not. :D
The only thing I miss is "I've not seen such bravery".

I told my sister about this, and she said that it's basically the game's fault you never released the episode, because if a game is so boring, even you couldn't make the video interesting, then you know the game must be REALLY boring.
Considering he later managed to make going to the grocery store to buy batteries interesting, that is quite true.

In the sea of all the comments talking about how they miss the old style of videos I'm gonna say this: I've been subbed for years at this point, and while I love Ian's older videos, I think it's better that he expanded beyond the whole "comedic cynical game reviewer" style that's been so prevalent on YT for so many years. Not that it's a bad form of content, I'm subbed to several of them. Plus, he had a unique enough personality for sure (that's why I subbed after all) but the expansion into new territory makes his channel and his personality stand out a lot more than it used to. And his ability to derive humor out of things far more mundane or bizarre than games through his delivery and editing speaks to this. Plus, he just seems more chill to me now.
I love both styles of content, but I personally prefer the newer direction for the channel.
Secular Ascetic Exactly, people change. I’m also an old subscriber, been around since the Lego Island 1 review (except on another channel) but over the years I’ve really enjoyed all the new changes! Nothing lasts forever, and we must all be willing to accept change.
I agree, it's actually nice to see how a youtuber grows and changes through time. I love his new content, especially his unique food reviews.

I agree. He feels more of a real person when he goes out and does cooking/collecting. In the old videos, he's got his own moments, but is a lot of the same in the landscape of YT at that time. I'm glad that Ian changed to the newer Ian.

They had a Nigerian visa, then they got on a bike and went to Cameroon, a country that they never had a visa for.

This was a fun watch! "I've not seen such bravery" took me back. I think seeing an older video as if it's new shows how much stronger your videos have gotten. I've watched for years and love the classics, but the past year was a true brutalmoose renaissance. You rule, Ian.

Nothing wrong, it’s what we all subscribed for. His new videos are lame as hell. And even then, he doesn’t release them on a consistent schedule. If youtube was my job, I wouldn’t be handling it the way he does. It’s bound to crash and burn
I dunno about that, his newer videos are better edited and his jokes fit his personality really well, and it feels a lot more genuine. I just like old, curt Brutalmoose too

And keeping a consistent youtube upload schedule is really only possible for low effort youtubers. Lets plays and "watch me mock life hacks or steal content from reddit" types. Finding something to riff on alone plus making it entertaining can take weeks. Even comedians use the same jokes for a whole year long tour before taking a break and making new ones up. Ian has to make new topical jokes every month. If it was easy, you would be doing it. Just like any of us would.
